Chapter 4: Heart of Fire
On another day in Askr, Lilina and Cecilia stood on the training grounds, their practice battle coming to an end. As they caught their breath, Cecilia couldn't help but express her admiration for Lilina's progress.
"Wow, Lilina, you have grown stronger with your magic since I trained you when you were little," Cecilia remarked, a proud smile gracing her features.
"Thanks, but nowhere compared to what you can do," Lilina replied modestly, a hint of uncertainty lingering in her voice.
"Is something wrong, dear?" Cecilia inquired, noticing the change in Lilina's demeanor.
Lilina hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Do you mind if I ask you a question?"
"Of course," Cecilia replied, her expression gentle and encouraging.
Lilina took a deep breath before continuing. "Have you ever felt alone?"
Cecilia paused, considering Lilina's question carefully. "I... I don't know how to answer that," she admitted quietly.
"Well, there was a time when I thought I was utterly alone, that there was no one who would help me," Lilina confessed, her voice tinged with vulnerability. "You know my dad, right?"
"Yes," Cecilia replied softly, her heart aching at the mention of Lilina's father, the legendary Hector.
"Well, he was a great man who lost his life trying to save me. And I thought I had to do it all on my own. But I was wrong," Lilina continued, her gaze meeting Cecilia's with newfound determination.
Cecilia listened intently as Lilina spoke, her heart swelling with pride for the young mage's strength and resilience.
"Because Roy was there for me... and he wanted me there for him as well... and without him or you, perhaps I would lose my faith in humanity just as King Zephiel did," Lilina concluded, her voice filled with conviction.
Cecilia placed a comforting hand on Lilina's shoulder, offering silent support. "Dear child, it's better for you to rely on others, to stand side by side with friends. I promise that as long as you continue this fight, you will never be alone."
"Totally, I will!" Lilina declared, determination burning bright in her eyes.
"But another thing just crossed my mind," Cecilia added with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "When are you going to kiss him?"
Lilina's cheeks flushed bright red as she sputtered in embarrassment. "Cecilia!"
