If Wolf had any other dreams while she was in The Pod, she didn't remember them. Her slumber was gently disrupted by the pink liquid beginning to drain. She blinked her eye awake and squinted at the light outside The Pod. It was dim, but any light was still more than the darkness she had been in for the past... three days was how long they had all said, but there was no way for her to be sure yet. Once the liquid had drained, some shower nozzles extended and gently washed her off with some warm water, making sure none of the pink liquid was still on her. They retreated into the walls of the Pod and were replaced with fans, drying her off. It was quite refreshing, actually. Perhaps they needed to make a non-gender version of the Pod simply for showers.
The door to the Pod slid open, revealing a lioness waiting outside. "Good morning, Ms. O'Donnell! Hope you slept well." Without waiting for a response, she reached in and began removing all of the bits and bobs that had been attached to Wolf.
Once she had been freed, Wolf stumbled out of the Pod, blinking in the comparatively harsh light. It was hard to keep her balance, which was odd. Must just be feeling a little woozy after the Pod, she figured. Won't be too hard to just use walls to keep steady for a little bit until she's re-found her footing. "Thank you, um..."
The lioness grinned. "I know we only met the other day, but I'm surprised you've forgotten me already." There was a sly twinkle in her eye. "I'm Leigh-Ann Pride, don't you remember?"
"But... I'm sorry, I only met your... brother?" Wolf scratched her head.
The sly twinkle had turned into a full-on sly look. "Nope! I wasn't fully clear with you the other day, hehe. I'm the same Pride you met then, I just didn't mention that I'm genderfluid."
"Genderfluid?"
"Sorry, you only just woke up, and I'm not sure you know the term. Basically, unlike most people who have their gender pretty solidly set, mine changes. Sometimes I'm more masc, sometimes I'm more fem, sometimes I'm something else entirely." She shrugged. "Thankfully, places like this have plenty of stuff to help me express my gender and help fight off dysphoria." The sly twinkle returned. "Speaking of which..." Taking Wolf's arm, she led her into a connecting room. "It's time for you to get dressed and see the results of the Pod."
The room was a dressing room, it looked like. There was Wolf's clothes laid out, all nice and neat, along with... "Wait, this is...?"
"Yes, it's a bra. You didn't think you'd need one after the Pod?"
"I sort of just... kinda?"
"We took your measurements before you woke up to make sure it was the right size."
Wolf glanced at Pride. "Wait, what measurements?"
"You... haven't looked down since leaving the Pod, have you?"
Looked down? Wolf looked at her chest and... "Oh. Oh!" She could feel her tail wagging incredibly fast behind her. "I...!"
Pride smiled. "Yep. You've got boobs."
After getting dressed, Wolf couldn't help but admire herself in the mirror. She might have admired herself a bit before getting dressed, sure, but that was something she'd never admit to anyone. At least not anytime soon. It was incredible how much better her clothes fit her now. She had already looked pretty before, but now? She was stunning. She did a quick twirl in her skirt and giggled as she watched it spin, watched her clothes rest around her new figure.
There was a knock at the dressing room door, and it opened to reveal Pride waiting outside. "I can give you a couple more hours to look in the mirror if you want."
She said with a grin. "Buuuut I think you might want to know that your ride is gonna be here soon."
Ah, right. The ride back to the apartment. "Yes, sorry." She took one last look at herself in the mirror and twirled out of the dressing room.
"Don't apologize, girl! This is the part of the job that I live for." Leading Wolf back to the main entrance, she chuckled. "Just getting to see people be... reborn is a
good word for it, I think. Be the person they never dreamed they would have been able to be."
Like a dream... that was a good way to put it. Wolf could still get the occasional glimpse of her reflection in windows along the halls, and it was still a shock that that was her. That wasn't someone else, that wasn't an unattainable ideal, that was reality. This is reality. If she hadn't been an only child, she probably could have been mistaken for a hypothetical sister.
Her thoughts were disrupted by a call on her comm unit. Shaking herself out of her daze, she answered. "Wolf here."
"Ah, a pleasure to hear from you again, my captain." Panther's voice purred over the comms. "I understand that you were originally going to meet us back at Fay's apartment, yes?"
"I think so. I wasn't the one who hired the taxi."
"Yes, that's right. Well, there has been a slight change of plans. Would you be able to ask your driver to instead take you to city hall? It appears our services are needed."
Wolf raised an eyebrow, but nodded. "Yes, I can do that. I'll meet you there, then?"
"Of course. We'll be awaiting your arrival. See you shortly, captain."
"See you shortly, captain." When Panther had said that, he had expected to be waiting fifteen, maybe twenty minutes. Perhaps thirty, depending on traffic. So he was a little surprised when he glanced out the city hall window and saw a taxi cab barreling down the street not a mere five minutes after hanging up.
"Is that a G-Zero machine?" Fay asked, leaning over to see what the noise was.
Panther nodded. "It's called the Groovy Taxi, I think? I don't remember the driver but-" he was cut off by the screeching of brakes as it pulled up to the front steps. The door opened, and Panther immediately looked away. He heard Fay gasp out loud, then a car door close, and then the distinct sound of a G-Zero machine shooting off into the distance.
"Woah."
"Stunning?"
"Incredibly."
Panther nodded, but didn't look for himself. "I shall be waiting in the meeting room, then."
"You don't want to greet her when she comes in?"
Panther hesitated. "I... fear that may not be the best plan at present. I shall be sure to apologize to her after the meeting, though."
Fay didn't seem too sure about that plan, but didn't say anything. "I'll bring her in, then."
"Thank you."
