The inferno blazed relentlessly, bringing with it a trail of ruin and grievous casualties. This horrendous event was the handiwork of the Sin Archbishop of Pride, Natsuki Subaru, a catastrophe from which the citizens of the Kingdom of Lugunica were reeling.
Should this event persist unabated, it could potentially be the downfall of the ancient kingdom.
Amidst it all, a silver-haired girl stood strong, accompanied by her loyal sidekick, a seemingly levitating cat named Puck. Belonging to a rare elven race, Emilia the half-elf was once dreaded, as she bore an uncanny resemblance to the infamous Witch of Envy. However, now, history was on the precipice of transformation, for she, the once terrifying bogeywoman to children, was becoming their beacon of hope.
She emerged as the hero who rose when the need was most dire.
She was the hero who protected them from the monsters that threatened their very existence.
She was the hero who traded the sinister, confining grip of evil for the liberating brilliance of virtue.
Yet, these soon-to-be legendary tales held no significance for her. Gazing at the ground, her teary eyes were fixated where the instigator of all the chaos laid impaled, a frosty pillar stabbing into his stomach.
"Why?"
A word, laden with confusion, escaped the lips of Emilia, the Dragon Maiden, as she stared at the villain taking his last breaths before her.
"I~ I Love you..."
Natsuki Subaru, the Sin Archbishop of Pride, let out a whisper saturated with profound affection, his eyes fixed on the hero above him until the last minute.
"Love?"
Emilia echoed, her expression morphing into one of bewilderment as she ruminated over Subaru's last uttered word.
Her structure trembled as the understanding of what had transpired and the root of all the disaster finally dawned upon her. It all could be traced back to her...
"-I Love! What! What do y--"
But, just as her emotions were about to burst forth from within her, she, along with her companion, Puck, vanished into thin air, interrupting her outburst.
...
...
...
"Lia!"
Puck's high-pitched voice startled Emilia, prompting her to open her still tear-filled eyes urgently.
"Puck...?"
Confusion laced Emilia's voice as she scanned their unfamiliar surroundings, Puck floating closely beside her.
"Where are we, Puck?"
Puck shook his head in response to Emilia's uneasy question. "I don't know. But we mustn't let our guard down. This could be another scheme by Pride," he said, his voice filled with concern.
Emilia's earlier emotions rushed back instantly. "Pride... He loved me... All of those things happened because he... loved me..."
"Please, Lia, not now. Let's figure out where we are before dwelling on it," Puck interjected, stopping Emilia's self-blaming.
Emilia's gaze shifted, her mind still grappling with the unsettling revelation. "But... Puck, he... I-"
Before she could finish her sentence, their conversation was abruptly interrupted by Reinhard's arrival behind them.
"Emilia-sama!"
Emilia and Puck immediately turned to the direction of the voice from behind which is Reinhard, Their expressions a mix of surprise and relief.
"Reinhard"
"Thank 'od' you're safe," Reinhard reliefly said, his voice filled with genuine concern.
Reinhardt's words triggered a surge of emotions within Puck. "You should have a good reason for letting my daughter face that lunatic, Sword Saint!" Despite knowing he was no match to him Puck fearless float near Reinhard face behind him were his daughter standing stunned.
"Puck!" Emilia exclaimed, her voice laced with urgency.
"I... I am sorry, great spirit-sama. Elsa suddenly returned from death before I could deliver the final blow to Pride." Reinhard bowed his head, his sapper blue eyes filled with shame. As the great spirit words trigger yet again a reminder of his useless.
"Oh, really?" Puck's tone was skeptical. Even though knowing he didn't found any lie by his statement.
"I... forgive me, great spirit-sama. I will accept any punishment you deem necessary," Reinhard replied, his voice filled with remorse.
"Puck! That's enough!" Emilia finally interjected, her voice firm. Seeing the display before her.
"Lia?"
"Emilia-sama?"
Reinhardt, Puck, exchanged glances, the tension palpable in the air.
"Not all of this is your fault, Reinhardt. It's ~ mine," Emilia slowly admitted, her voice tinged with guilt. An aura of naivety lingered to them.
"Emilia-sama?" Reinhardt's voice held a mix of confusion and concern.
"Lia! Don't easily believe that guy's words. He's insane, a lunatic, and a Sin Archbishop! The cultists don't know the meaning of sense, in fact, none of them do!" Puck exclaimed, his frustration evident. Witnessing her daughter unbreakable selfish self-blaming a traits she always have.
"You heard his words from his own mouth, didn't you?" Emilia countered.
"Lia..."
despite puck painful look and Reinhard confusion and concerned expression.Emilia's voice wavered as she continued, her emotions raw. "Then you know he wasn't lying! All of his actions were because he wanted me to become King!"
The weight of Emilia's words hung in the air, her confusion and pain evident as she further added.
" All of it... Why! Why! does he love me! Even though I doesn't met him before? "
"Lia! Snap out of it!" Puck's voice was filled with urgency. "He might not have been lying, but his actions don't define the truth! The Witch cultists, all of them, are pure insanity. Trying to understand their motives is futile!"
"Puck-sama is correct, Emilia-sama. Pride's words are only confusing you. He knows his plan failed and he's attempting to shift the blame onto you," Reinhardt added, his voice steady and reassuring.
"But he... he lo-"
"Goodness, what wouldn't you understand? It's as simple as that, in fact " a new voice chimed in.
Emilia, Puck, Reinhardt, turned to their right as Beatrice the great spirit like puck standing there, her adorable expression unreadable.
"Betty?"
"Beatrice?"
"..."
Silence enveloped them, each person and spirit lost in their own thoughts and emotions.
Though it's only took a few moments as puck finally break the silence
"Betty... How did you get here?" Puck asked, his voice filled with confusion.
Beatrice eyesbrows furrow looking at her new environment. "Betty doesn't know either, in fact. Betty was just in the library a moment ago before finding myself here, I suppose."
Puck, still trying to make sense of their situation, then asked, "Then, Betty, do you have any idea where we are?"
Beatrice shook her head. "Betty still doesn't have any idea where we are, I suppose. The only significant guess for finding ourselves here all of a sudden is teleportation, in fact."
Reinhardt, who been silent, repeat the great spirit conclusion. "Teleportation..."
Emilia's mind raced, trying to process everything. "..."
Puck crossing his cat palms his form was prepared to any apprehension that might occured that might endangered her daughter... And sister.
"Then betty could you get ourselves out of here? I been feeling uneasy after I gotten here. " Puck steadily said not showing any anxiety on his face, as Emilia quickly shifted her gaze upon him worriedly.
"Betty have been feeling the same in fact, But betty seems can't access my gate even how much i tried i suppose. " a complex emotions filled the adorable Beatrice butterfly eyes, as she clinch her tiny fist together.
"Extraordinary..." Reinhard murmured, his voice barely a whisper. The realization of their predicament was beginning to weigh on him. "This place is far from ordinary."
"Reinhard?" Emilia called, hearing the distress in his voice.
"I apologize, Emilia-sama. It seems I can't utilize any of my divine protections. It's as if something is blocking them," Reinhard confessed, feeling a pang of guilt. His inability to use his divine protections in such a crucial moment was a harsh blow.
Their thoughts were abruptly interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Emilia-sama!"
Startled, Emilia and the others turned towards the voice, finding Ram standing to their left. Her maid uniform was torn and dirty, but despite her disheveled appearance, she seemed unharmed.
"Ram, are you okay? What happened?" Emilia asked, concern lacing her voice as she moved closer to the pink-haired maid.
Ram quickly scanned her surroundings, her eyes landing on Beatrice. She seemed taken aback, but quickly regained her composure. "Emilia-sama, where are we? And where is Roswaal-sama?" she asked, her voice filled with confusion.
"We don't know exactly what's happening, Ram. It seems we've been teleported here together," Emilia explained, her voice steady despite the uncertainty of their situation.
"Teleported?" Ram echoed, disbelief evident in her voice. Reinhard nodded solemnly, confirming Emilia's words. Beatrice, her expression unreadable, added, "This place might be a different dimension, I suppose."
"Are you certain, Betty?" Puck asked, his tone serious.
Beatrice didn't respond immediately. She scanned their surroundings once more before finally speaking. "I can't be certain... but this place appears to have sealed our abilities. Strangely, I can't sense any mana here."
"This place is isolating us... We're in a difficult situation," Reinhard concluded, the gravity of their situation sinking in. The tension in the room grew as they realized the severity of their predicament: they were isolated, their abilities were sealed, and they had no idea what awaited them.
Suddenly, a seductive, sarcastic voice broke the silence.
"My, my, what a lovely gathering."
Their alarm reached its peak as they recognized the owner of the voice. Standing about 15 meters away was Elsa Granhiert, the Bowel Hunter. Her clothes were revealing, and her body was covered in blood and dirt -- clear signs of a recent, intense battle.
"Grenhiert!" Reinhard exclaimed in shock.
"Bowel Hunter!" Puck growled angrily.
Emilia glared at Elsa, while Ram looked at her with disgust. Beatrice, sensing the hostility, increased her guard against the mysterious woman.
Elsa smirked, seemingly unfazed by their reactions.
"How did you..." Reinhard began to ask, but his words trailed off.
Puck turned to Reinhard, his expression furious. "Care to explain this, Sword Saint? You said you finished her off. So why is she standing before my daughter?"
Emilia looked at Reinhard, her eyes filled with confusion and expectation. She, too, was silently demanding an explanation.
Reinhard struggled to find his words, his mind racing to comprehend the situation. Elsa took advantage of his momentary weakness, taunting him with playful words. "Kukuku... What's the matter, Sword Saint? Afraid of a little cat?" she jeered.
Puck's anger flared up once again, directing his hateful gaze towards Elsa. "Silence! You!!!" he growled, his voice filled with animosity. Elsa seemed to find the great spirit's anger amusing. "My, my. It seems the mighty spirit has lost its temper."
Beatrice, unable to tolerate Elsa's antics any longer, stepped forward. Her voice was harsh and firm as she reprimanded the Bowel Hunter. "Enough of your foolish games, girl. Do not dare to push your luck any further, in fact."
Elsa turned her attention to Beatrice, genuinely surprised by the unfamiliar and adorable face before her. "Well, well, who might you be, little one?"
Emilia and the others observed the exchange, unsure of what was happening. Ram, on the other hand, remained silent, believing that engaging in conversation with the Bowel Hunter would be pointless and fruitless.
Before Beatrice even spare an effort to introduce her name yet again a strange but uneasy voice filled with authority stated in present which the voice introduce Beatrice formally. "That 'little one' is the Great Spirit of Yin, Beatrice, the guardian of the forbidden library," the voice explained.
The half of the group agitatedly shifted as a mysterious figure emerged. Clad in a black robe and wearing a white, faceless mask adorned with a single yellow star, the figure floated in the air paradoxically.
"Who are you?" both Reinhard and Puck exclaimed in alarm, their voices filled with worries.
The figure in the black robe and white faceless mask floated calmly in the air. "Be at ease. If I wanted to harm any of you, I wouldn't have brought you all here," the figure replied, it's voice steady and composed.
Puck couldn't help but press for more information. "Are you the one responsible for bringing us here?" he questioned, his tone clearly with suspicion.
The figure responded with a hint of amusement in it's voice. "I did mention that, didn't I?" It's replied, the words cryptic yet intriguing.
Reinhard, ever the protector, (which his not suitable at) demanded answers. "Then why did you bring us here?" he asked, his voice firmly and resolutely.
The figure seemingly awaited a moment of silence before "To save you all from your inevitable doom," it declared, significant words hanging in the air.
Puck grew frustrated with the figure's riddles. "Enough with the games. Tell us your true purpose," he demanded, his voice filled with slight determination and brief apprehensive.
Beatrice, not one to be left out, interjected with her own request. "Betty wishes not to be involved in this, in fact. You! 'finger pointing'
Bring Betty back from her library this instant, I suppose," she insisted, her tone serious and unwavering.
Ram, ever practical, added her own plea. "Ram wishes not to be entangled in this nonsense. Roswaal-sama may require my assistance. Kindly undo this trick of yours," she requested, her voice assertive.
Elsa, always one to revel in chaos, couldn't resist making a sarcastic comment. "Well, that explains something, doesn't it, Sword Saint?" she chimed in, her tone dripping with mockery.
Reinhard chose to ignore Elsa's taunting, his focus solely on the figure before them. "You claim that we are fated to be part of this simulation. Please, enlighten us further," he requested, his voice steady and composed.
Suddenly, the environment around them shifted, catching everyone off guard. Their reactions varied, each person and spirit processing the change in their own way.
"I go by many names. I hold endless titles and bear immense responsibility. I am one of the Seven Wardens of Nerddis, 'Carlosion,' Warden of the Path of Simulation. I am the watcher of this timeline," the figure revealed, their voice filled with authority and wisdom.
Emilia, Puck, Reinhard, Ram, Beatrice, and Elsa took in the figure's words, their minds racing to comprehend the gravity of the situation. The air was thick with anticipation as they awaited further explanations from the enigmatic figure.
To be continue...
