Chapter 57: Struggle
"I am Zuko, Bishop of Riser Phenex." Zuko introduced, bowing to reveal a sword on his back. "Lord Riser told me that you'd be coming."
"So, you are going to fight us?" Rias asked, preparing herself.
"Lady Rias and her Bishop are allowed to go forth," Zuko said, his eyes narrowing as they landed on Koneko. "However, the Rook is not allowed."
"Rias." Koneko said as she stepped up. "Go on ahead. It won't take long."
"But… Koneko, I'll need…" Rias started to say, but went silent.
She took a breath, and looked Koneko in the eye.
"Good luck." Was all she said before Rias and Asia walked past Zuko.
"May I know your name, before we start." Zuko asked as he heard the door open and close behind him.
"Koneko Toujo." Koneko said as she did a light stretch for her arms, then moved to her legs. "Rook of Gremory…" 'Soru.'
Zuko's arms made an 'X' defensive block as Koneko's fist struck it, having aimed for his chest.
"You got a good arm." Zuko said calmly as he closed his eyes. "But do you have the skill to back it up."
Koneko felt danger, and jumped back, arms up as Zuko began to transform.
Meanwhile, the Track Field…
Kiba faced Siris, clashing blades as the Knight of Phenex fought with equal force.
Issei avoided Isebella's fists, Boosting as he took the blows he couldn't avoid.
C. Koneko faced Ni and Li.
"Oh, sister, she smells like us." Ni said as she and her sister smirked, their magic beginning to spike as they transformed.
Both were identical.
Cat-like women, fur covered bodies, and digitigrade legs like normal cats.
"Show off." C. Koneko said in an unamused tone.
"What, not going to show off?" Li asked as she appeared before the clone.
Using Kami-e, the clone avoided and countered with a swift kick to the head, only to narrowly avoid Ni's attack.
'Shit, with two of them, my risk of betting hit is worse.' The clone thought as she pulled her arm back.
She punched Ni in the chest, charging her gauntlet.
Li appeared, hand going for an uppercut.
Only to be stopped by the false Yubashiri that C. Koneko drew.
"FUCK!" Li said as her palm had been sliced open, her blood bubbling to the ground. "You cut me!"
"Deal with it!" C. Koneko said as she kicked the air.
A Rankyaku blade flew at the cat girl, making her evade.
"Slow."
Li turned to see C. Koneko, sword abandoned with both arms behind her with her fists clenched.
"Shigan: Madara: Nibui Dangan!" Koneko shouted as she rapid-fire punched her fellow Nekomata.
"LI!" Ni shouted in horror as Li took the barrage of punches. "YOU BITCH!"
Ni swiped at the clone, only to have her eyes widen in horror when the clone puffed, revealing Li.
"A substitution?" Ni gasped before the clone appeared in her guard.
"I'll never use the power you use…" the clone said before she uppercut Ni in the chin, using the small amount of stored energy in her gauntlet to send both sisters flying.
They both vanished before they hit the ground.
"Riser Phenex has lost two Pawns."
The clone dusted herself off, her irritation visible as Issei used a combo of Dress Break and Dragon Shot to defeat Isabella.
"Riser Phenex has lost one Rook."
"What a perverse display." Siris snarled, disgusted with how her teammate was beaten.
"I agree." C. Koneko replied in deadpan.
"I apologize for his piggishness." Kiba apologized, bowing to the enemy.
"HEY, YOU TWO ARE ON MY SIDE!" Issei shouted in frustration.
Meanwhile…
Riser was on the roof.
He was in a meditative stance as he opened his eyes.
"I see you have arrived." Riser said as Rias stood before him with Asia.
"You don't seem too surprised." Rias chided.
"No, I expected as much from someone who received training from Bael." Riser said as he stood up, calm and composed. "But let's see how much he taught you, Rias."
Rias looked at Asia.
"Stay behind me, and heal me when needed." She ordered softly.
Asia nervously nodded.
She watched as Rias and Riser began to channel their magic.
It was like watching a whirlpool of PoD and Flames trying to outpower the other.
'Good luck, Rias.' Asia mentally prayed as the Kings began their fight.
Back at the Track Field…
Issei ran toward Mihae, who was throwing fireballs at him.
Using his Boosted Gear, Issei batted them away with effort.
"STAY AWAY!" Mihae shouted as she put both hands together, charging another spell.
On top of the main building, fire and PoD collided, shaking the building.
"Rias is fighting now…" Issei mumbled when he stopped.
So distracted was the Pawn that C. Koneko used Soru to grab and get him out of danger when Mihae's spell went off.
"Shit, I got…"
"Just beat her…" C. Koneko said as she pushed him forward.
Issei held up his left arm.
'She is fighting so hard right now…' he thought, thinking of how Rias was also do everything she could.
His thoughts spread to Akeno and Koneko, knowing they too were fighting hard.
"I Need to do the same… no… I need to go further."
Clenching his fist, he flourished his SG.
"Red Dragon, hear my cry." He called out, stopping Kiba's fight with Siris and Mihae paused her next spell. "Answer my plea, I need your power!"
His SG burst with green magic, altering its form as Issei's power evolved.
"DRAGON BOOSTER: SECOND LIBERATION!"
Meanwhile…
Koneko was gasping for breath.
"Is this what the youth of today can muster in their base forms?" Zuko asked as he towered over her. "Because you are disappointing me."
Standing over ten feet tall, the once elder looking man was now a red dragon hybrid.
His white hair bellowed like a mane, his red scales glistened with power as he stood straight as a tail hovered behind him.
*Kaido's Hybrid Form, but red and it is Old man Zuko*
"No even started." Koneko replied as she vanished with Soru, appearing behind Zuko.
"SHIGAN: MADARA: Nibui Dangan!" She shouted as she rapidly punched the geezer dragon, who nimbly dodged her punches.
He pushed her arms aside, moved his own arms in a wave like motion.
Flames engulfed Koneko.
"Hmmm…" Zuko hummed as Koneko didn't seem to be getting injured. "Either your resistance is high… or your gear is fireproof."
Not waiting for an answer, Zuko took a stance, his arms outward.
Flames jettisoned out, and propelled him forward.
Twisting himself, he added spinning momentum to his attack, making Koneko block with her White Tiger Gauntlets, charging them significantly.
"My gear is fire proof…" Koneko replied, not wanting to be rude.
Zuko followed her pushing momentum, making Koneko stumble forward before he kicked Koneko in the shoulder, flames bursting as it struck her.
'SHIT!' Koneko thought as she took the hit.
Staggered, Koneko took a knee.
Grabbing her wakizashi, she swung at Zuko's leg, but he pulled back before she could hit him.
"Ah, now you bring the metal… but why not the sword?" Zuko asked with a head tilt.
"Why don't you attack me and find out?" Koneko asked as she got up and took a reverse grip on her weapon.
Meanwhile…
Yubelluna hit the tennis court, cratering the ground.
"I never thought you'd be THIS strong…" Yubelluna coughed as she looked upward.
Akeno hovered above her; her outfit damaged.
"Well, you have Naruto to thank for that." She admitted, not going to pretend or act his training didn't help.
"Speaking… of Bael…" Yubelluna muttered as she pushed herself to sit up. "Where is your little friend? I had assumed you all had clones of the Rook?"
Akeno smiled, but didn't answer.
"Anyway, I guess I need a moment…" Yubelluna continued as she pulled out what looked like an eyedrop bottle. "To regain my composure."
Akeno's eyes widened when she watched Yubelluna use the liquid within to heal herself.
"What was that?" Akeno demanded as Yubelluna took flight, no wounds what so ever.
"Phenex tears, we are allowed to use them in the games, but limited usage to keep things fair." Yubelluna said proudly.
Akeno's despair… became a look of glee and excitement.
"Well, then if you can instantly come back from the bring of death…" She said as lighting crackled around her.
She then made three hand signs.
'Ox, Rabbit, Monkey…' Akeno thought as she made them.
Yubelluna hovered away slightly as the lighting condensed into Akeno's hand, changing from yellow to blue.
Yubelluna heard electricity crack… but it sounded like chirping birds.
"What is…"
"Chidori…" Akeno said as she closed the distance and impaled Yubelluna through the shoulder, blood bursting from the now damaged limb.
A scream of pain erupted from the Bomb Queen as Akeno pulled her blood-soaked hand out.
'Naruto… I owe you for this technique's creation…' Akeno thought as she remembered attacking Naruto in anger, and his reaction as knocking her out. 'Your reaction led to this moment. Thank you.'
Akeno didn't drop her guard as Yubelluna held her shoulder.
"Aw, not going to use the Tears to heal your booboos?" Akeno mocked, cupping her chin.
Yubelluna's eyes were livid as she snarled.
'I played with a predator, and I got bit.' She thought as she used magic to numb herself enough to focus. 'I need to end this before she hits me with that technique again…'
Track Field…
"TRANSFER!" Issei shouted as he put all the power he had boosted into Kiba's attack.
Mihae and Siris were struck when over three hundred swords appeared, having impaled them.
"Riser Phenex has lost one Knight and one Bishop."
Issei gasped as he had released a LOT of power all at once… and the fact Transfer was a new technique.
"Thanks, Issei." Kiba said as he patted him on the back.
"Good going, per…"
C. Koneko's head was impaled by a long katana that led to the roof.
Meanwhile…
Koneko flinched mid attack, collapsing to her knees, one hand over her face, a look of horror and panic as she gasped.
Zuko paused in his movements, lowering his guard and stepping back.
"The Fuck…" Koneko asked like a wounded animal, hair on end as she stared at him while trying to regain herself. 'The fuck happened? My clone popped… and I flinched… I FLINCHED!'
Zuko said nothing.
He politely pulled out a book from his pocket and started reading.
"When you're ready, let me know." He said as he turned his back to the enemy.
Track Field, Twenty Seconds Earlier…
"KONEKO!" Issei and Kiba shouted just before C. Koneko popped.
"Sorry to rain on your parade, but I thought I'd take the clone out of the picture." The attacker said as their weapon's blade retracted.
Kiba's eyes widened and his knuckles turned white.
"Gin Ichimaru…" He said with anger.
Gin chuckled as he jumped off the roof, landing on the ground.
Issei felt uneased by the Knight's presence.
He was probably a bit older than they were.
Gin wore a black shihakusho with a white Haori jacket over it.
"Nice to make your acquaintance again, Knight of Gremory." Gin said as he turned toward Issei. "Nice to meet you, Red Dragon Emperor, I am Gin, Knight of Phenex…"
"Issei, get out of here." Kiba ordered as he stepped between Gin and Issei. "He's mine."
"But, Kiba…"
"This guy is as strong as Naruto, also having the Supernova title… he is out of your league." Kiba stated bluntly and aggressively. "Besides… I want this rematch."
"Go ahead, Red Dragon Emperor, I won't attack you." The Knight of Phenex replied as he stared at Kiba. "I have been looking forward to seeing your progress. Have you remained the same weakling as two years ago, or have you gotten stronger?"
Kiba smiled and charged at Gin, who blocked his attack.
Issei, not comfortable with abandoning Kiba, pushed down his own want to help and ran toward the main building.
Meanwhile…
Zuko created a flame whip tendril, and with snake like movement in his arms, attacked Koneko from the distance.
It wrapped around her leg, and Zuko watched as Koneko cut his fire with her blade, ending his attack.
'Oh, she was hiding this ability.' Zuko thought as he reached behind him, drawing his own sword, which split in two, revealing it to be two swords, clashing with Koneko's Wakizashi. 'I guess my fire is out of the question if she can cut it like the Pawn of Bael… however…'
Koneko was agitated.
Seeing, from her clone's memories, that she fought two nekomata who flaunted their transformations and powers before her, taunting her to use her own…
'I will not rely on that power.' She thought angrily.
She charged forward, blocking one blade with her gauntlet and the other with her short blade, earning a kick in the chest, sending her through the opposing building.
Meanwhile…
Akeno was gasping for air.
Her clothing was in bad shape, having survived the explosions as long as it did thanks to the Fire Rat robe.
But now it was barely a robe due to the explosions.
"You giving up, Priestess of Thunder?" Yubelluna asked as she was running short of breath.
She stopped when something bopped her.
Looking down briefly… it was a Hello Kitty key chain.
"You thought you could defeat me like this?" Yubelluna asked in confusion… which was replaced with shock when a false Yubashiri impaled her torso.
The keychain having been a disguised C. Koneko all alone.
"I missed her organs… but its enou…"
Yubelluna destroyed the clone in the explosion.
'DAMN IT!' She thought as she saw Akeno with another Chidori.
Moving in a defensive manner, Yubelluna's damaged arm took the brunt of Akeno's Chidori, being blown off the Queen's torso.
Adrenaline pumped through the Bomb Queen as she let out an anguished cry, jabbing Akeno with her staff, detonating a bomb point blank with as much magic as she could muster that instant.
Both Queens were blown away, Akeno skidding across the ground like a stone across a river while Yubelluna hit the building.
"Rias Gremory has lost one Queen."
"I… Won…" Yubelluna asked in a very surprised tone.
She had intended to take both of them out.
But since she didn't lose, she was going to return to Riser's side…
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" she collapsed after attempting to move.
Her adrenaline was running out, and her pain was coming back.
"I… forfeit…"
Meanwhile…
"Riser Phenex is down One Queen."
Riser paused at this.
Rias took advantage of the opening.
"RAAAAAAAAAGH!"
Her hand, coated in PoD collided with Riser's 'Perfect' jawline, disintegrating his jaw and a chunk of his cheek.
Pulling away, Riser's face regenerated, as if the damage taken hadn't happened.
Rias was gasping heavily as sweat covered her body.
'What can I do?' She thought as Riser took a martial art stance. 'I can't overwhelm him with magic alone, and he seems to have been studying martial arts much longer than I have…'
It seemed hopeless.
"Come on, Rias." Riser said as he could see what she was thinking. "You want your freedom, right?"
Rias was confused.
"Y… yes…"
Riser's face scrunched.
"SAY IT WITH CONVICTION!" He shouted as he jumped into the air, his fist embedding itself into the roof when he landed, sending a 'wave' of flames. "SHOW ME YOU WANT TO EARN YOUR FREEDOM!"
Rias slapped her hands together, forming a protective dome of PoD around herself and Asia.
The flames died down, and Rias ended the barrier.
'He is right, I will earn it…' Rias thought as she did not back down from Riser. 'My freedom will be earned by my hands.'
Meanwhile…
Kiba slashed at Gin with his standard sword.
"Hm… you have gotten a little stronger…" Gin said with disappointment, not even bothering to attack or counter. "But I am not looking for…"
He saw Kiba go to kick him.
'So simple…' Gin thought as he leaned back enough to safely avoid Kiba's foot.
However, he was surprised as the same kind of light that appeared when Kiba made a sword appeared on his leg.
Gin leaped back, landing on his knees as his chest was cut open, blood spilling out.
"Oh, my… seems like someone was keeping a particularly NASTY secret…" Gin said as he used a small amount of magic to stem the bleeding as he looked at Kiba's legs.
They looked like leather leg bracers, however, they had what appeared to be a switch blade knife mechanism as Kiba was standing safely with the blade inside of it.
"I did, and made these swords…" Kiba said as one appeared on his other leg. "To defeat my enemies."
Gin smiled as he got up, his wound no longer bleeding badly.
"Then show me…" he said as he charged forward.
Kiba swung.
Gin blocked, and pushed back, evading the kick, the blade extending to its full length.
After it missed, the blade retracted as Kiba instantly kicked him with the other leg.
Gin took the hit, the blade stabbing into his body.
"Good, show me more." Gin said as he grabbed Kiba's leg, pulling the blade out before pushing Kiba back. "By the way… does these swords have names? Being your SG IS Sword Birth after all…"
Kiba regained his balance.
"I never thought about it." He replied, preparing himself.
His sword clashed and pushed Gin's thrust, the blade having extended from Gin's standing position.
"How about… Hidden Strike?" Gin offered, head tilted in thought as his blade retracted. "Or maybe… no… No, Hidden Strike sounds, best, no?"
Kiba made an irritated sound in his throat.
"Fine, Hidden Strike." He said as he lunged forward, then kicking Gin, who blocked this time.
Gin stepped back, allowing Kiba to attack again.
He kept stepping back, and Kiba swung his sword, Gin blocking with the blade glancing off of his SG.
'Hmm… I think I am getting the hang of your little 'style'.' Gin thought as he analyzed Kiba's movements carefully.
Meanwhile…
Issei neared the main building, where Rias and Riser where currently fighting.
'I hope the three of them are safe.' Issei thought, thinking of Rias, Koneko, and Asia battling Riser… only to hear a loud crash sound.
Moving toward the sound, Issei saw Koneko fighting Zuko.
"DRAGON!" he shouted in a panic, not expecting to see a human/dragonoid.
Zuko stopped his attack, looking at Issei as Koneko groaned, having been thrown into the ground.
"Oh, go right ahead, young man, my business is with the Rook." Zuko called out, pointing to the doorway.
Deciding NOT to get involved, Issei went through the front entrance.
He walked toward the stairs, but stopped.
'Rias did mention that Pawns can Promote when in enemy territory…' He thought, looking at his hands. "Promotion to Queen!"
Issei instantly felt the power boost to his magic, his physical strength, and speed.
'Great, I am ready.' Issei thought as he walked up the stairs, memories to the raid on the church a few weeks prior.
The sensation and memories of failing coursing through his veins.
'Don't worry, Rias. I won't fail this time.' Issei thought with conviction as he started to run up the stairs.
Chapter 57, DONE!
Akeno knows Chidori, surprised only one person took a guess at this.
Kiba's Leg Sword, Hidden Strike, is basically a leg version of the Assassin's Creed Hidden Wrist Blade.
Koneko's battle with Zuko is fun, and is one I look forward to finishing, next time.
Akeno's Koneko Clone used Transformation magic to hide in Akeno's pocket, with the plan being, if I need your help, I'll toss you out. And since Yubelluna didn't expect a Hello Kitty key chain, it distracted her to allow the Clone of Koneko to get ONE good strike in, dealing enough damage to make Yubelluna use a suicide tactic.
Akeno Vs Yubelluna, Koneko's fight with Zuko, and Kiba's fight with Gin are the highlights of this rating Game for me.
