Chapter 4: The gauntlet is thrown part 1

It was now two months after Yuki had defeated Seto in a duel that her grandpa had started and so far things were pretty uneventful. Some word about her defeating the young CEO in a duel had spread across Japan and to some other countries. Though not enough to make the girl with gravity defying tri colored star shaped hair feel claustrophobic with any unwanted attention. However she did notice that said brunette male was not coming to school anymore and seemed to drop off the face of the earth. Alongside the fact that slightly more people than usual were starting to watch the duels she and her friends had during their free class period. At the moment she was sitting on the sidelines watching as Joey had a duel with Tea, after all he had to duel someone other than their heterochromic eyed friend. The small crowd of people were watching alongside her with interest whilst Tristan was just a little bit fed up with how long the blond was taking to make a move.

Yuki understood that her friend still wasn't as into Duel Monsters as the rest of them but she was still happy that he at least had a deck and understood the basics of the game. Even if he doesn't duel as much as the rest of them do that's really all she could ask for since it's not like she wants everyone to be a duelist like her. That would be extremely fun though and it would mean she would have more people in school to duel against but nevertheless she was content with what she has. If given the choice she honestly wouldn't even change a single thing about her life, well honestly that was a lie because she'd prevent her parents' deaths if she could. Then Yugi would have had the chance to grow up with parents just like she had and it also would have taken some of the stress off of her grandfather. Ultimately he had to take care of not only a one year old boy but also a nine year old girl when their parents had died whilst they were out on date night.

"Joey, make a move already." Tristan said as he was eager to see if his friend will lose again.

"M'kay, here you go tough guy. My Rock Oger's gonna rock your block off." Joey said as he placed said monster on the field which was a three star monster made completely out of rock.

"Hmm." Tea hummed slightly as she flipped over her face down defense card which was Happy Lover and it was only a two star monster with a much weaker defense number compared to Joey's Rock Oger.

"Yea Tea, like that wimpy card has a chance against my giant rock guy. Give it up!" Joey said and at the moment he was right since defense his monster is stronger as he had a closed eye grin as he chuckled to himself.

"Guess I don't stand a chance unless maybe I use The Breath Of Light card." Tea said as she placed said magic card on the dueling mat.

"Huh? Can she do that?" Joey asked as he looks down at the magic card in confusion.

"Yup. See The Breath Of Light wears down rock monsters. Turns them into nothing but sand and rubble." Yuki said with a smile as she glances over at Joey who looked mortified as he realized what that meant in regards to the duel.

"That brings your life points down to zero, Joey. Once again, you lose and I rock." Tea said with a closed eye smile and her right hand on her hip.

"You stink at this game." Tristan said once again not holding back his opinion.

"Ahh." Joey groaned out as he slumped forward to lay his head on the dueling mat in defeat.

Later when school was let out Yuki was sitting up on one of the pull up bars since Yugi had an after school activity that he was staying at for a little while. Which meant she didn't have to pick him up just yet since it would at least be an hour or two before her brother needed to be picked up. As a result she had plenty of time to either relax or run an errand for her Grandfather. Though she was here ontop of the pull up bar instead of at home reading manga or adding some of her cards from her original deck into her grandpa's deck for a reason. Joey said he wanted to talk to her about something important before possibly heading home for the night. Hence why the tall blond was standing leaning against the other set of pull up bars in the school courtyard next to the ones she was sitting on.

Which is also the reason as to why she was up there since she is short and doesn't like being talked down to all of the time. Honestly if it weren't for the fact that the school uniform policy says students can only wear a certain kind of shoe with their uniform she would have invested in high heels ages ago. Only to hopefully make herself appear taller so she could at least feel a bit more normal. Shortness runs in her grandpa's side of the family but luckily she wasn't as short as her grandpa but was still pretty short. She was just lucky that the school had nothing against jewelry otherwise she'd be unable to wear her Millennium Puzzle whilst on school grounds. This would have caused her to put it in her school bag during school hours just to keep it with her. It's not like she doesn't trust her grandpa with it she just feels alot safer knowing it's with her.

"Tristan's right, Yuki. I do stink. I can't win at Duel Monsters to save my life. What is it, Yuki? Why can't I ever win? Teach me what I'm doin' wrong." Joey said as he looked at Yuki with his arms resting atop the bar of the pull up bar.

"Well, lemme see your deck first of all." Yuki said with a smile as she hopped off the pull up bar and approached Joey, holding out her hand so he can give her his deck.

"Huh? 'Kay. Here ya go." Joey said as he fished his deck out of his pants pocket and handed it to the short girl.

"Perfect, thanks." Yuki said as she began to look through the cards in the deck from the bottom up.

"Power house lineup, don't ya think?" Joey asked as he thought his deck was great as Yuki's face gained a look of confusion as the look got more defined with each card that she looked at.

"Oh good lord, no wonder you can't win a duel, using these cards in a duel is suicide. Joey your deck has nothing but monster cards in it." Yuki said as she stopped looking through the deck in order to look at Joey who was leaning against the pull up bar again.

"You got it. I packed it with every ass-kickin' monster I could find." Joey said with a smile as he was not seeing the problem behind a deck full of nothing but monsters.

"But that's not how the game works." Yuki said as she had decided to give her friend a reality check in regards to his deck.

"Huh?" Joey asked as he gaped slightly at that new piece of information.

"Duel Monsters is all about combining your monster cards with your magic cards to increase their strength. With nothing but monsters and no magic in your deck you will lose every single time." Yuki said as she looked away from Joey in order to look down at his deck again.

"Huh? See! That's the kind of stuff I need to know. Yuki, you've gotta help me learn more." Joey said as he rushed around the pull up bars in order to come stand infront of Yuki so he could hold her by her shoulders.

"Uh..." Yuki said as she trailed off slightly for a moment.

Though it didn't take long for her to come up with an idea as she took Joey to her grandpa's game shop. Tea and Tristan would have come along if it weren't for the fact that they had other plans. Said plans had been made prior to their two friends telling them they were going to the game shop. Yuki of course understood that they would be busy so she wasn't exactly disheartened at the fact that only Joey could come with her to the shop. They walked side by side down the side walk towards the small shop that was their destination whilst chatting about anything and everything. Since it had been two months there had also been some talk of a Duel Monsters tournament being held on a private island after the Regional's Championship.

Though it was by invitation only apparently, but it meant good business for the shop. Practically every duelist in the city have been rushing to the nearest store that sells Duel Monsters cards in order to strengthen their decks in hope that they get invited. Well every duelist except for Yuki, Joey, and their friends as Yuki was content with just dueling for fun rather than for fortune and glory. Joey was still a beginner and wasn't quite ready t duel in a tournament and their friends were just content with watching from the sidelines during any and all duels that aren't for fun.

"My Grandpa's the real game expert in the family. Maybe he can help you." Yuki said as the approached the shop and went inside to see Solomon who was up on a small ladder putting up a poster that had Black Luster Soldier and Harpies Pet Dragon on it that the two teens hadn't noticed yet. "Hey Grandpa, I brought you a new student." Yuki said as she entered the shop followed by Joey.

"Huh? Student?" Solomon asked as he looked down at his granddaughter and her friend from his position up on the ladder.

"Yes a new student, and Grandpa didn't I tell you I'd handle putting the poster up when I got home? You could hurt yourself if you accidentally fell off the ladder." Yuki said with a frown when she noticed the poster as she has worried about her grandpas health ever since what happened with Seto.

"Oh fiddlesticks, it's just one poster Yuki, no need to panic over me climbing a small ladder to put it up. Now what's this about a student?" Solomon asked, giving his granddaughter no more room to argue with him.

"I was hoping, since you know more 'bout Duel Monsters than anyone maybe you'd teach me." Joey said as he watched Solomon climb down from the ladder.

"Teach you? Duel Monsters is a very complex game." Solomon said, telling Joey something that the tall blond already knew.

"Yea, tell me about it. Tea beat me three games in a row." Joey said with a smile as he was trying to be nonchalant about the fact that he got beat by Tea despite the fact that he's been learning how to play the game longer than she has.

"Well actually Tea beat you five times in a row Joey, you forgot the last two you had against her before school ended for the day." Yuki said as she looked up at Joey with a smile as she reminded him of just how many times he actually lost.

"Five! Aw, man. Huh?" Joey said as he soon noticed the poster, it was a poster that was advertising the tournament even though it didn't physically say that that is what it was for.

"Hmm. Yes, I could teach you to be a great tournament duelist, but only if you're willing to spend endless days and sleepless nights filled with rigorous training." Solomon said as he glanced at the poster he had just put up before looking at Joey with a serious expression that meant he wasn't joking around.

"Ahh, piece of cake." Joey said as he once again was trying to be nonchalant, though his eyes did widen at what Solomon said to him as Yuki looked up at her friend like he had just said the most stupidest thing to say right now.

"With an attitude like that, teaching you may not be worth my effort." Solomon said as he was serious once again, he will not train someone who has a cocky or nonchalant attitude.

"Ahh!" Joey said as he recoiled in shock, a small sweat drop on his left temple.

"Good goin' lamebrain." Yuki said as she looked up at her friend who was frozen mid step backwards in shock.

"Please Yuki, help me convince him. I will work hard. I promise." Joey said as he was now on his knees bowing to Yuki as his forehead was almost touching the floor, said girl backed up slightly in shock at her friend suddenly bowing to her.

"Listen Joey, teaching you Duel Monsters is too big a challenge even for my Grandpa." Yuki said but in reality she was just using reverse psychology on her grandpa.

"It's not impossible." Solomon said which drew the kneeling Joey's attention to him.

"Huh? You mean it, Gramps?" Joey asked as he sat up onto his hands and knees and turned his head in order to look at Solomon.

"Joey, he already said he can't do it. And if my Grandpa says he can't do it then that means he can't do it." Yuki said as she looked down at her still kneeling friend.

"I never said I couldn't do it, but if I agree you must work hard." Solomon said as he glanced at his granddaughter for a moment before looking at Joey with the same serious look as before.

"I'll do anything. I promise. I promise." Joey said as he looked at Solomon with wide eyes yet again.

"Hmm. Fine. Then we'll begin your instruction immediately, my young friend. And believe me, under my tutelage, you will learn." Solomon said as he begins to crack his knuckles as he looks down at Joey.

'Damn Grandpa, no need to scare my friend half to death...' Yuki thought to herself as she had to fight back the urge to face palm slightly.

"Now, can you name the most powerful Duel Monster?" Solomon asked as everyone should know the answer to this question.

"Ehh. No." Joey said after some thinking as he was still kneeling on the floor.

"Can you name the weakest?" Solomon asked as this should be an easy question that everyone knows the answer to.

"No." Joey said which actually made Yuki face palm slightly as she dropped off her school bag upstairs.

"You do know what a trap card is, don't you?" Solomon asked as he wondered if Joey had any dueling knowledge at all.

"Kinda. Uh, I have no idea." Joey said as he shows that he does infact have next to no dueling knowledge.

'Oops, looks like Grandpa has alot of work to do before Joey understands the game...' Yuki thought as she went to go pick up Yugi from his after school activity which would be over in a half hour.

Weeks later

Another few weeks had passed and much to everyone's shock, aside from Yuki's, Yugi's, and Solomon's, Joey had actually been taking his training seriously. He had spent every waking moment of free time that he had after school and homework training to get better at Duel Monsters. During those few weeks that he had been training he had actually been improving quite a bit. He was still technically a beginner and would continue to be considered a beginner until he finishes his training and gains more experience in duels. Much to the blond's annoyance since he wanted to be at the same level as the pro's now since he wanted to be in a tournament. He would have liked to be apart of the one that was finishing up now but it was to late for him to join it as of now since it is the end of the finals. Yuki enjoyed her friends enthusiasm in regards to joining the tournament but she didn't really think he'd be able to do it regardless if there was still time to join. Special requirements only allow certain people to enter, just like with every other Duel Monsters tournament that has happened before this one.

After all if just anyone could join a tournament then all of the tournaments would be full of newbie duelists trying to make a name for themselves. Then they would end up cancelling each other out before any type of finals could be considered being held. The only reason as to why she was thinking about this aside from the fact that her friend kept talking about wishing how he could have been in the Regional's Championship. Was because her and her friends were currently in her living room watching the finals for the Regional's Championship. They were the only ones up, aside from her grandpa since the championship finals were on way past Yugi's bed time. Because of this said 8 year old wasn't very happy that everyone other than him got to stay up late in order to see who will become the Regional Champion. Seto had dropped out of the tournament after he was defeated by Yuki so the number 1 ranked duelist wouldn't be trying to get the Regional Champion title.

"Good evening, Duel fans and our 10 million viewers at home, and welcome to the Duel Monsters Duel Dome. Where, tonight, the Duel Monsters Regional Championship will be decided. Of the 200 duelists that have competed in this marathon tournament only two competitors remain standing. Put your cards together for Weevil Underwood, the bug brawler! And his opponent, the number one ranked Rex Raptor, dino duelist." The announcer said as he introduced the two finalists for the tournament for everyone just in case they don't know who is who.

"Bug boy versus dinosaur breath. What kind of match is that? That should've been me in there." Joey said from his spot on the couch next to Yuki as they all where in lounging clothes. Even Yuki who had switched out her uniform for a pair of navy skinny jean overalls and a black three quarter length sleeves, but she still had her leather choker and puzzle on.

"I know you've been training hard for weeks, but those guys are in another league. You're just not ready yet." Tea said, as always being the one to try and let Joey down the nice way.

"Sure, rub it in." Joey said as he crossed his arms, closing his eyes with a smile.

"Plus you're so damn tired we'd need to tape your eyes open just so you can duel. I think Grandpa's lesson's have been a bit too tough for him." Yuki said as she looked at Joey, having to stifle a laugh at the fact that the blond was now snoring as he had fallen asleep.

Beginning of Joey's dream

Joey was shuffling his deck the way Solomon had taught him to do it as he was practicing in order to commit it to muscle memory. That way when it comes to participating in a real duel he'll be able to do it without needing to look at his opponent to see how they're shuffling their deck. Though he was so tired that he ended up stopping mid shuffle as all of the cards fell out of his hands since he was to tired to keep a good grip on them. The cards cascaded down onto the table that he was sitting infront of at the moment as they landed in a scattered pile. Joey, who thought he could catch a few z's before picking up his cards and going back to shuffling, slumped forward as he laid his head on the table. He was ontop of his scattered cards whilst using his arms as a pillow for his head to rest on so he could comfortably take a nap. After all he didn't think there was any harm in taking a small nap so long as he woke up and got back to work as soon as he was done. Honestly though really no one could blame him for wanting a nap since this training is alot harder than it actually looks.

"Ahh! So tired. Must rest." Joey said as he closed his eyes and was about to fall asleep.

"You have no time for rest!" Solomon said as he smacked the end of a Kendo stick against the table Joey was trying to sleep on.

"Ahh!" Joey said as he jumped awake, sitting up as the hit to the table sent cards flying everywhere.

"Did you come here to learn Duel Monsters, or did you come here to catch up on your sleeping?!" Solomon asked with a fierce, almost angry, look on his face as he looks down at Joey.

Ending of Joey's dream

"You see, it's true what they say. You snooze, you lose!" Tristan said loudly causing Joey to wake up from his tiny nap as Tea laughed slightly.

"Ahh. I must've been nuts to think I could learn this crazy game." Joey said as he hung his head in defeat.

"Time for your lesson." Solomon said as he suddenly appeared out of nowhere with a package in his hands.

"Wha- we're not done?!" Joey asked as he was know kneeling on the couch in order to face Solomon who was standing behind the couch.

"Not by a long shot, you slacker." Solomon said with the same serious expression that he has given Joey all week.

"Ahh." Joey groaned slightly at that, having hoped he had finished his training by now.

"Now, quit your whining, Joseph. I know you've been working long and hard, but you really are coming along as a duelist, and I'm quite proud of you." Solomon said as this caused Joey to smile with tears welling up in his eyes that were about to fall at any second.

"Gramps, thank you." Joey said as he tried to hug Solomon only to hug nothing but air as the older male moved over towards his granddaughter.

"Oh, by the way, Yuki... This package came for you." Solomon said to his granddaughter as Joey falls over the back of the couch because of him hugging nothing but air.

"A package? What kind of package, more importantly who the fuck would be sending me a package?" Yuki said with a frown on her face, if it was Seto she would assume it was a propaganda bomb full of pages demanding for her to duel him again.

"Watch your language young lady, as for what it is I don't know. It just came in the mail, but there is a sender address." Solomon said as he looked between the box that was no bigger than a rectangle tissue box and his confused granddaughter who cautiously took the box and shook it slightly next to her ear.

"Huh, well it doesn't sound dangerous... Holy shit! It's from Industrial Illusions." Yuki said once she notice the label that said who the package was from, this got her yet another comment about her language from her grandpa.

"Industrial Illusions? That's the company that makes the Duel Monsters game. Why the hell would they be sending a package to you, Yuki?" Joey asked as he climbed over the back of the couch to sit down on it again before giving Solomon a sheepish look since he cursed too, though the older male just sighed and gave up for now because cursing is just something that happens sometimes.

"Dunno, is it possible they heard about how I beat the world champion?" Yuki asked as she looked at Joey as she was now holding the package in her lap, curious as to what was inside of it.

"You mean Kaiba?" Tea asked in order to confirm if that was who Yuki was talking about.

"Yup. Technically the match wasn't official, tournament rule wise, but me defeating him did cause Kaiba to drop out of the tournament... Come to think of it, Kaiba has seemed to drop off the face of the earth entirely after that duel..." Yuki said with a frown as she remembered how the end of the duel went.

Flash back beginning

It was just one more turn before the Swords of Revealing Light wore-off, Seto had all three of his Blue Eyes White Dragons on the field. He thought that he already had this duel won before it even started because he was still feeling the adrenaline high that came from him defeating Solomon. Sure that duel had been a half an hour prior to this duel that he was in right now but the adrenaline high was still alive and kicking. The brunette had already felt like he was too powerful to beat with his three dragons now on the field. That and the belief that his opponent had no monsters that would be any match for his. Therefore he had no more reason to hold back his smugness, not like he was ever holding it back before now though.

Yami Yuki had been backed into a corner for a moment because she had no monsters on the field and only had four pieces of Exodia in her hand. She was leaving this next move all up to chance because this one draw could make or break the duel for her. Her grandpa and his Blue Eyes card were counting on this move, because if she did not draw the last piece of Exodia then this would be her last turn for this duel. After this all three of the dragons infront of her would be free of the magic card and would completely decimate the rest of her 400 life points that she had left.

"Draw your last pathetic card so I can end this, Yuki." Seto said with a grin as he was ready for Yami Yuki to end her turn so all three of his dragons could attack.

"My Grandpa's deck has no pathetic cards Kaiba. But it does contain... The unstoppable Exodia." Yami Yuki said with a smirk as she held up the head of Exodia, the last piece that she needed.

"Ahh! Impossible!" Seto said as his eyes widened in shock at the fact that Yami Yuki actually had Exodia in her deck.

"Exodia, obliterate!" Yami Yuki said as Exodia heeded the command of the girl that summoned him, drawing his left hand that contained his charged up blast back before thrusting his hand forward, sending his blast towards the dragons as they were destroyed in a bright golden light as Seto screamed.

Flash back ending

"Just hearin' Kaiba's name gives me a headache." Joey said with his eyes closed as he threads his fingers through his mop top of blond hair as Yuki looks at him with a frown.

"Whoa! Guys , Raptor just stomped Weevil." Tristan said which pulled everyone's attention back to the TV.

"Yuki, these guys any good?" Joey asked as he looked at the duel that was playing on the TV before looking at said girl with a frown.

"Well their creepy little fuckers but their pretty tough, I don't think their on par with how tough Kaiba was though. Weevil's specialty is insect cards, and he's great when it comes to strategies. Then their's Rex Raptor, and his dino cards. He uses the power tactic that Kaiba was boasting about in order to overwhelm his dueling opponent." Yuki explained as she was now looking at the TV with a serious expression on her face.

"Itsy-bitsy bugs against duelin' dinosaurs? Raptor has got this one in the bag." Joey said already thinking he knows who will win based on the cards they use.

"Don't be so quick to guess the end result Joey, or you'll start to sound like Kaiba." Yuki said as she focused on the TV, missing the small glare that Joey gave her at the mention of him possibly sounding like Seto.

"All right, Weevil. Consider yourself dinosaur chow!" Rex said as he placed his card down on the field in attack mode.

"Oh, and Raptor plays the strongest card in his deck- the terrible Two-Headed King Rex! Looks like this match could be over right here, right now!" The announcer said as a purple T-Rex with two heads and bat/dragon wings on its back appears on the field before they went to commercial.

'Good, that'll give me a bit of time...' Yuki thought as she set her unopened package aside as she got herself a drink from the kitchen as she opened a can of canned coffee because even though it was the weekend she was tired because something had been nagging at her all week, like something bad was going to happen. 'I dunno why, but I just have a gut feeling that something bad will happen. I just hope I'm wrong.' Yuki thought as she was staring off into space as her free hand lightly touches her Millennium Puzzle.

"Hurry Yuki, their almost off of their commercial break!" Tea said in order to get her friends attention so she doesn't miss the end of the duel.

"Coming!" Yuki said as she rushed back into the living room, careful not to spill her drink as she plops back down next to Joey just in time.

"We're back, monster fans, and with the Two-Headed King Rex in play, it looks like this duel is all done." The announcer said as the camera got a close up of the dinosaur monster.

"Your move." Rex said since that was all he was going to do for this turn.

"Hee hee hee hee. And all I have is this weak little bug." Weevil said as he put his monster on the field, though he also had a face down from the last turn as well.

"Weevil Underwood counters with a Basic Insect card." The announcer said as the monster appeared on the field, looking like a prang-mantis with spikes on its shoulders and chest/stomach.

"He plays a wimpy bug against a giant dinosaur? The place will be covered in bug guts." Joey said as he continued to judge the duel based on the cards that are played.

"I wouldn't underestimate Weevil, in fact I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him." Yuki said as she took another sip of her canned coffee, keeping her eyes trained on the TV.

"King Rex, let's take this championship. Stomp 'em!" Rex said as the two headed dinosaur lunges forward to attack the bug that was infront of it.

"Hee hee hee. You attacked your way into my trap, but then, how could your tiny dinosaur brain know when an enemy attacks, my vortex activates." Weevil said as the computer of his dashboard beeps, indicating that his trap card has activated.

"Oh no! It's a trap card!" Rex said in shock as he didn't expect the face down card to be a trap card.

"Which totally traps your King Rex in it's inescapable embrace." Weevil said as a vortex of yellow wind surrounds Two-Headed King Rex, stopping it in its tracks.

"No, my King Rex!" Rex said as he watched on helplessly as his dinosaur is trapped within the vortex.

"And while he's trapped there, I'll upgrade my Basic Insect by giving him Armor with Laser Canon. Not such a weak little bug after all, hmm? Attack!" Weevil said as he held up said card before putting it into play as armored shoulder pads and a cannon appear on the Basic Insect and then the bug dose as it was ordered as a laser shot out from the canon on its back as the laser hits the dinosaur.

"Ahh!" Rex groaned as his dinosaur is destroyed and disappears from the field.

"And King Rex is extinct." Weevil said as that move had won him the duel and the championship.

"Wow! Beaten by a bug." Rex said as he hung his head in defeat.

"A stunning upset by Weevil Underwood, our newest champion." The announcer said into his microphone as the crowd cheers.

"Hee hee." Weevil chuckled and held up his deck as his platform is lowered to the floor of the duel arena.

"Man, King Rex squashed by an insect?" Joey asked as part of him didn't want to believe it.

"See, told you not to underestimate Weevil." Yuki said as she glanced over at Joey for a second before looking back towards the TV again.

"And now, a very special honor for our new champion. Here to present the Duel Monsters championship trophy, the creator of Duel Monsters and the president of Industrial Illusions, ladies and gentlemen and fellow duelists, I give you Mr. Maximilian Pegasus!" The announcer said as he pointed towards the floor infront of Weevil's dueling platform as it opened up and a new patch of floor raised up to fill that space, and on it was Pegasus himself as he was smiling a devilish smile as he holds the trophy and approached Weevil who was outside his platform waiting to accept his trophy.

"Congratulations." Pegasus said as he bent down to Weevil's height and held out the trophy to the blushing bug duelist.

"Uh, thank you." Weevil said as he took the gold trophy from the hands of the CEO of Industrial Illusions who stood up straight once the trophy was taken from his hands.

"And as Regional Champion, I invite you to compete in a bold new tournament I'm hosting at Duelist Kingdom." Pegasus said to a still blushing Weevil who was looking at him in awe.

Later on after the tournament was finished a burgundy colored limo was driving away from the duel dome. The limo contained Pegasus, his driver, and one of his lackeys that had gone along with him when he had gone to be there to give the trophy to the new champion of the tournament. The eccentric looking billionaire sat in the back of his limo with his legs crossed in a very lady-like manor. He sat looking forward with his right hand on the center console that separated his seat from the one his lackey was sitting in. Pegasus hadn't really cared much for the finals of the tournament that Weevil had just won, all he cared about was his own tournament that would be happening soon. If everything goes according to plan he will soon have what he wanted right from the start of this whole thing. Though as much as he would like to take the easy way in order to get what he wants he can't. He didn't get where he was today by taking the easy way out of things and he wasn't about to start doing things the easy way now.

"Mr. Pegasus, with the announcement that you made tonight, we'll have thousands of duelists flocking to Duelist Kingdom." The lackey said with a smile as he looked at his boss.

"Yes. An event such as this will hopefully attract those who possess the Millennium Items I seek. Which reminds me-" Pegasus said with his remaining eye closed as he cut himself off with hopes that the lackey will get the idea that he wanted an answer for his unspoken question.

"The package was delivered to the girl just as you ordered, Sir." The lackey said since he had a feeling that that is what his boss wanted to know.

"Excellent." Pegasus said with a smile as he opened his remaining eye.

Meanwhile at the Muto house hold Yuki and her friends were still in the living room with her grandfather.

The package from Industrial Illusions having been momentarily forgotten as they all had been more focused on the finals for the Regional Championship. Even when it was over they were too occupied by Pegasus's announcement to even consider opening up the package that had suddenly been sent to her. Though with Pegasus's announcement of the tournament that he was hosting echoing in her brain the heterochromic eyed girl was wondering if he had possibly sent her an invitation. It wouldn't surprise her since he probably has heard that she was the one that beat Seto and caused him to not participate in the Regional Championships. Though if that was true then why did it come in a box, after all invitations are just pieces of paper, so Yuki didn't think the box was necessarily again the box seemed pretty heavy when she took it from her grandpa.

Therefore there must be something inside of the box that is needed in order to show that she is a duelist that is participating in the tournament. Otherwise it really would have just been a piece of paper in an envelope that would say that she is invited to the Duelist Kingdom tournament. It would have instructions on where she needs to go in order to get to said tournament. Or Yuki could be completely wrong in this assumption and that this is a fake Industrial Illusions package sent by Seto. Which means that it does infact contain something that will try and coax her into dueling against him yet again. Most likely sent with the hopes that he can try to beat her and regain his title as the number one ranked duelist that is undefeated and unstoppable.

"Ha! With all the excitement of the championships, you forgot to open your package, Yuki." Solomon said which draws everyone's attention back to the box.

"What could it be?... Cross your fingers and hope it's not a gag gift from Kaiba." Yuki said as she crossed her fingers for a moment before she slowly opened the box as her friends and grandpa crowd around her.

"It's some kind of glove." Tea said as she notice the maroon colored fingerless glove that had gold circles over the knuckles and a thick silver metal cuff around the wrist with star shaped slots in them.

"And stars." Joey said as he noticed the two gold stars that were next to the glove, and Yuki figured that those were supposed to go in the star slots on the cuff of the glove.

"Maybe there's an explanation on the video." Tristan said as Yuki picked up the video tape which seemed to be the last thing in the box.

"Pop it in and check it out." Joey said as he watched his friend look at the tape that she now held in her hand.

"Okay, not like I can do anything else with it..." Yuki said as she kneeled down infront of the TV and put the tape in the VHS player, sitting back on her knees as she waits for something to happen as her friends and grandpa crowd around her once again as they all looked at the TV with her.

For a moment all that was on the TV was static and Yuki thought that maybe this was just a prank and that there was nothing on the tape. After all if there was something on it then it would have begun to play right away rather than being nothing but static. Honestly at this rate she was about to just give up and take the tape out rather than let it keep playing static. Though the screen changed when she was about to do that as the face of Maximilian Pegasus appeared on the screen. Which honestly shocked the small girl immensely because now she was even more confused than she was a few moments ago. Why would the Maximilian Pegasus, creator of Duel Monsters and owner of Industrial Illusions, be on a video meant for her to watch?

Come to think of it why would he be inviting her to a tournament when before dueling Seto all she ever did was have small duels for fun with Joey and Tea. It just didn't make any sense to Yuki, sure she was the girl who finally beat Seto Kaiba but once again that wasn't really an official duel. So it shouldn't matter if she beat him or not, so really he should still be the number one ranked duelist in the country. Which means she should still be a nobody that just duels with her friends for fun and not someone who is being sent things from Industrial Illusions.
