Wolfie: I do not own anything related to Yu-Gi-Oh. All I own is Yuki and all plot alterations I make to have her in this story. One thing I didn't clarify in my last authors note was that for the most part I will be sticking to the duels that had happened in the anime. Which means when Yugi fights Mako in the anime Yuki will be doing it in this chapter, then Mokuba, then Evil Kaiba, and so on and so forth. Every chapter related to the anime will also have the name of the episode as it's chapter name unless it is a non cannon based chapter. Then it will have some kind of made up name. One last thing is I would like suggestions for a new title since there are alot of stories called The Queen of Games on here. I would however like to stay with the whole Queen concept of the title. Now please read and review and I hope you are enjoying the story so far.
Chapter 13: Attack from the Deep part 1
"Whooey! Heh heh. 2 stars." Joey said as he looked down at the two stars on the cuff of his glove whilst giggling. "This is so awesome. I can't believe it happened. Am I cool, or what? Heh heh heh heh." He said as he was still basking in the feeling that came with winning a duel against a pro.
"I'd say, the "or what" part." Yugi said as he was standing next to his sister holding onto her hand as they had stopped walking to make sure they didn't lose Joey.
"Is there a time limit on how long he gets to crow?" Tea asked with her arms crossed since she was getting really annoyed with all of the yammering that Joey was doing.
"Cut him some slack, Tea. Did you ever think Joey would actually beat Mai in a duel?" Tristan asked as they looked at Joey who was giggling and shining the star chips with the sleeve of his green jacket. "I mean, Joey... Who would've thought?" He asked since it had honestly been unbelievable that their friend had beat Mai.
"I was confident that he could do it." Yuki chimed in with a smile as she watched her friend stare at his star chips with a goofy grin. "I'm extremely proud of you, Joey." She said because right now Joey should know that his friends are happy that he won his first duel.
"Yeah!" Joey exclaimed before his stomach starts to loudly grumble indicating that he's hungry as he blushed in embarrassment. "Uhh, all that duelin' made me hungry. Did any of you guys remember to bring any food with you?" He asked hoping that they did because he was absolutely starving!
"Sorry, Joe." Tea and Tristan said since all they brought with them was the clothes on their backs.
"Aww. What were we thinking coming to this island with no food?" Joey asked because if Tristan and Tea had no food then Yuki and Yugi probably had none either.
"I brought some food, granted I packed only enough for me but I'd be willing to share." Yuki said proving his assumption wrong as she sat down on a nearby rock and took her bag off of her back.
"And I brought snacks." Yugi added as he sat with his sister and took his bag off of his back as well.
"Really? Awesome!" Joey said as he huddled close to the Muto siblings to see what they had brought with them.
"Can we have some to, Yuki?" Tea asked as she gave her friend a hopeful look as she spotted the bento boxes.
"Yeah, what about us?" Tristan asked since it was only fair that they got some to.
"No." Yuki stated simply as she handed a bento box to Joey and then one to Yugi alongside some forks.
"What?!" The two brunettes exclaimed in shocked at the fact that they were being denied food.
"I asked you two to babysit my brother, and yet you ignored that responsibility and let him sneak onto the boat." Yuki said as her normally sweet heterochromic eyes become harsh as she gives then a side glance causing them to cower.
"Yeah, but..." They tried to protest only to cower more as an unforgiving fire burned in the small girls eyes.
"No buts, no bento boxes for friends who don't uphold their agreements and let my brother do something that dangerous." Yuki said as her, Yugi, and Joey enjoyed their bento boxes as the two brunettes were left to find their own food.
"Well, can't we at least have some of Yugi's snacks?" Tea asked once again hopeful as she looked at said 8 year old and his bag of snacks.
"Nope. Big sis is right, you said you'd babysit me yet here we all are on an island." Yugi said as he happily eats the bento box that his sister had clearly made since she was a really good cook.
"Aw man. Tristan, we better do something fast. I've gotta have my 5 basic food groups, or else it's metabolic meltdown!" Tea whined as she crossed her arms because she needed to eat something and fast and she was also a bit mad that the Muto siblings weren't sharing.
"Hey, chill out, Tea. I got it covered." Tristan reassured as he remembered something that he had brought along with him.
"Yeah?" Tea asked once again hopeful that she would be getting some food into her belly before it's too late.
"Check it out..." Tristan stated as he showed Tea a book that had been in his trench coat pocket. "The great outdoors survival kit." He read off the title as Tea's hopeful look morphed into one of disappointment.
"Aw... Can we eat it?" Tea asked in a disheartened tone as she had been hoping that Tristan had suddenly remembered that he brought some food.
"Better than that, it lists all the plants, roots, berries, and grasses we can eat." Tristan explain excitedly as he flipped through the pages of his book as Yuki packed away the now empty bento boxes and dirty forks in her bag.
"Eww!" Tea exclaimed in complete disgust at the idea of eating roots and berries and grass.
Tea then proceeded to get into an argument with Tristan about how she was not a squirrel and that she needed some real food. Though the two brunettes were ignored by Yugi and Joey who were thanking Yuki for sharing her bento boxes. This caused her to smile and she smiled even more when her blonde friend found out she was the one who cooked the food and said she was an amazing cook. It was honestly nice to hear that someone other than her brother liked her cooking as it made her feel extremely appreciated. Whilst Tea and Tristan were still arguing the smell of cooking fish wafted through the air towards the group of five. Now despite the fact that Joey had just a whole bento box to himself he was still extremely hungry.
"You don't need that dumb book anyhow, Tea." Joey said whilst sniffing at the air and then turned in the direction of the smell. "I smell something cooking that-a-way. Ha!" He stated as he pointed in that direction before he started sprinting towards what the smell was coming from. "See ya!" Joey called back to his friends that he was leaving in the dust as he continued to make a mad dash for what the smell was coming from.
"I know he just ate but, he's hallucinating." Tea said not quite believing that Joey smelt something cooking in that direction.
"I dunno, Tea. Joey isn't one to lie when it comes to food." Yuki said whilst putting her bag back onto her back as the retreating form of Joey gets smaller and harder to see.
"Don't be so sure. You know, it wasn't his brain that beat Mai. It was his nose." Tristan reminded as he stood there with his book still open on the page he had been looking at.
Meanwhile at a cliff overlooking the water there was a campfire with fish skewered on sticks sticking out of the ground over the fire. The smell had been coming from the fish as the fire cooked them till they looked burnt due to the black tint to the scales. At this point in time Yuki, Yugi, Tea, and Tristan had caught up with Joey who was kneeling behind some rocks looking at the cooked fish. He had the biggest grin on his face and was practically drooling as he was clearly planing on going to eat the fish even though they may be someone else's. Yuki, Tea, and Yuki were staring at the fish with indifferent expressions as Tristan stood behind them with wide eyes and his mouth hanging open in shock.
"Mmm, oh, man! I just love barbecued fish." Joey said as he couldn't even take his eyes off of the seemingly abandoned food.
"Fish kebabs." Yugi breathed out as fish sounded really good for a second course to the bento box he just had.
"It does kinda smell good..." Yuki quietly admitted as the smell was making her hungry again even though she's not a big fish person.
"Yeah, and I bet it tastes even better. Heh heh heh!" Joey said with a laugh as he climbed over the rock and headed down to the fish as everyone looks on in shock.
"What makes you think those fish are yours to eat?" Tea demanded because no matter how hungry she is she's not about to eat fish that belongs to someone else.
"Hey, trust me. We eat first and ask questions later. Your stomach'll thank me. Hee hee hee hee." Joey stated with a snicker as he finished going over to the source of the tantalizing smell.
"Joey! Oh, he'd say anything to get more food in his belly." Tea said as she watched Joey with the most annoyed and disappointed look ever.
"Some people have absolutely no self-control." Tristan said with his arms crossed and his eyes closed nodding as he was trying to play it cool.
"Huh?" Yuki, Tea, and Yugi asked as they half turned in order to look at Tristan in a mix of shock and confusion.
"Joey, save some for me!" Tristan shouted as he ran after Joey in order to get some fish and proving that he has no self control at the same time.
"Uhh..." Tea let out a groan and an exasperated sigh in regards what her two male friends were doing.
"Men. Can't live with them, can't work with them." Yuki grumbled whilst rubbing her temples as she felt a headache coming on.
"Big sis, if I ever act like them when I'm a teenager, please slap me." Yugi said as he watched the older boys with a slight sweat drop as Yuki barely nodded in response to this.
Finally the two girls and the 8 year old caught up to Joey and Tristan as they had each grabbed one of the five fish skewers. They each had large, hungry, almost crazed grins on their faces as the looked down at their stolen meals. Yuki and Tea had much more dignity than their two friends did as they refrained from going and trying to eat the fish. Yugi didn't really have as much dignity as his sister but he knew better than to steal food so he didn't even try to take one of the last three fish. After all his sister and his Grandpa had raised him to be good and to give rather than take. Plus if Yuki wasn't going to give in and eat the fish then neither would he and it seemed like Tea wasn't going to either despite how hungry she is.
"Ahh, man. This looks awesome." Joey said whilst looking down at the fish that he was preparing to eat.
"Ow! Ow, ow! Hot! Hot!" Tristan quietly exclaimed as he had tried to touch the fish only to slightly burn his fingers as Joey started blowing on his fish to cool it down.
"Uhh." A tan male with navy blue hair grunted as he climbed over the edge of the cliff sopping wet with a harpoon in his left hand as he had clearly been in the water. "Unh." He grunted again as he stood up straight from climbing back up over the edge.
"Ready, set, feeding frenzy!" Joey and Tristan said drawing the tan male's attention to them as the group of five were all sitting around the fire as the two males were about to dig in.
"Enjoy yourselves, you fish thieves. This is you last meal!" The male exclaimed in complete outrage drawing the groups attention to him.
"Huh?" Joey and Tristan asked in unison as they looked at the shirtless sopping wet male alongside Yuki, Yugi, and Tea.
"How dare you eat my fish, you thieving poachers?" The male demanded as he gave the group infront of him a fierce unforgiving glare. "Has no one taught you manners?" He questioned only to be swept off the cliff and back into the water by a large wave that had crashed into the cliff.
"Is he dead?" Yugi asked wondering what had happened to the man and his harpoon when the wave pulled him back into the water.
"Well that was anti-climactic... But I doubt he's dead, Yugi." Yuki said as she looked at the spot where the angry man who had clearly caught the fish stood just moments ago.
"Oh, ok." Yugi stated content with that answer as he was sitting in his sister's lap because there wasn't enough room for him on the rock alongside Yuki and Tea.
"So, can we eat now?" Joey asked wondering if it was ok to eat the fish now that the man was gone.
"All right, let's try that one more time." The male said as he climbed his way back up over the cliff again with an annoyed look on his face.
"I knew this was a bad idea." Tea said as she was now face palming and sweat dropping at what was going on.
"Grr. How dare you steal my fish, you bottom feeding thieves?" The man asked having walked away from the cliff and up to the group sitting around his fire.
"Hey, chill out, guy. It's just a few fish." Joey said and stood up as he tried to get the man to calm down since he was the one with a harpoon.
"A few fish that do not belong to you, and to steal a fisherman's catch is to prove you have no honor!" The man declared whilst shaking his fist at Joey causing Yuki to notice the dueling glove on his hand.
"Wait a second, a dueling glove?" Yuki asked before her eyes widened upon realizing who this man actually is. "Whoa hey now! Aren't you that top ranked Ocean duelist, Mako Tsunami?" She inquired drawing the attention of the navy haired male away from Joey and to her. 'Shit, he's hot! Well, not as hot as Seto but- wait. Why am I thinking about Kaiba and in that sort of way?!' She thought with a frown and a very unnoticeable blush as she looked up at the man now dubbed as Mako.
"And who might you be?" Mako asked as he looked down at Yuki with piercing sea green eyes.
"Yeah, you're that freaky fish guy." Joey said as he also realized who the man infront of them was.
"I am not a freaky fish guy!" Mako snapped causing Joey to flinch back and cower slightly in shock as Mako presses his gloved fist to his chest. "I am Mako Tsunami, duelist extraordinaire of the 7 seas." He stated with a proud furiosity as Yuki and Tea notice something on his head that caused them both to giggle. "Uh, what are you two laughing about?" Mako asked as a confused expression washed over his face whilst looking at the two girls.
"Your head..." Tea said in between giggles as she couldn't help but keep laughing.
"What about my head?" Mako asked not quite understanding what was so funny to the brunette.
"Here, lean down for a sec." Yuki said as she moved her brother off her lap as she got up and walked over to Mako who was still confused but complied nonetheless. "You have a little hitch hiker on your goggles." She explained as she gently pulled a small pink octopus off of the diving goggles and showed it to the ocean duelist. "Seems like he wanted to go for a joy ride to the surface world." Yuki stated whilst gently holding the octopus in her hands as Mako chuckled and took the creature from her and gently tossed it back into the ocean.
"Ahh!" Tristan and Joey yelled with tears running down their face as they watched this happen.
"No, don't!" Tristan protested as the little octopus disappeared back into the water below the cliff.
"I wanted to eat that." Joey whined as him and Tristan were now at the edge of the cliff looking down at the water as Mako looked at them like he thought they were on drugs.
"You're demented." Tristan said even though he kinda wanted to cook and eat the octopus as well.
"Are you telling me that those two are here as duelists?" Mako asked with a scoff as he looked back at Yuki, Yugi, and Tea.
"Ignore them, their morons." Yuki said causing said males to shout in protest at having Yuki call them morons. "I'm Yuki Muto. The 8 year old is my brother Yugi, next to him is Tea, and the two knuckleheads trying to eat your fish are Tristan and Joey." She explained causing the navy haired male to look at her in slight shock.
"You? You're Yuki Muto? The only duelist to ever defeat Seto Kaiba?" Mako asked since it seemed like he had expected Yuki to look completely different from how she actually looks. 'This girl looks like she wouldn't be able to hurt a fly, let alone defeat someone as ruthless as Seto Kaiba in a duel.' He thought as he wondered how such a small and seemingly innocent girl could hold her own against Seto Kaiba.
"Yup! That's my sister, she beat him on his own turf to!" Yugi said happily as he got up and hugged his sister who was blushing slightly in embarrassment.
"Ha ha! What a fine surprise! It will be my very great honor to face you in a duel." Mako said clearly excited at the idea of being able to duel Yuki at some point in time.
"Wow. Same here, Mako." Yuki said with a small smile as she was now blushing even more at the fact that Mako thought that it would be an honor to duel her.
"I must apologize. I've been ungracious." Mako said as his whole attitude and demeanor did a complete 180 at then mention of Yuki's name. "If you are friends of Yuki Muto, please, come sit down. Eat your fill." He said as he half turned towards Joey and Tristan giving them permission to sit and eat the fish that they were trying to eat a few moments ago.
"Thanks!" Tristan and Joey said looking at Mako like he was their most favorite person in the entire world.
"You are welcome." Mako said as he watched Joey and Tristan quickly sit back down and pick up the fish that they had abandoned in pursuit of the octopus he had tossed back into the ocean.
'I don't like this, he's suddenly a little too nice for my liking.' Yuki thought whilst casting a subtle suspicious glance to Mako as she sat with her brother in her lap again.
"Hey! Feeding frenzy!" Joey and Tristan exclaimed with their fists pumping into the air excitedly before eagerly digging into their fish.
"Oh, man! Freaky fish guy really knows how to cook. Mm-hm!" Tristan said as he looked like he had gone to food heaven as Tea and even Mako dug into their own fish.
"This is really good, huh?" Tea asked as Yugi nodded in agreement whilst eating the last fish as Yuki was content to just let them have the fish since she's not that hungry thanks to the bento box she ate.
'Ha ha ha.' Mako mentally laughed with a subtle grin as he knew that he had caught another duelist in his trap.
With the fish being quickly eaten by those that were hungry as they had eaten their fill. Mako did have to go back into the water to get more fish but he really didn't seem to mind. In fact he seemed to enjoy going into the water as he would not only come back with fish but with a happy grin as well. It certainly was a nice change of pace and gave everyone a chance to just sit and relax after Yuki and Joey's first ever tournament duels. That and the fact that there was just something about being near the ocean that made them all feel so calm and content. This area also seemed void of duel arena's so there was just nothing but the open terrain and the calm ocean.
"Wow, that was good." Joey said with a burp as he had eaten like he hadn't had a whole bento box prior to smelling the fish.
"Where'd you learn to cook like that?" Tea asked extremely curious how someone could not only catch fish and know how to cook them to.
"Ha ha ha. I have had to fend for myself since I was a tadpole, but it was my father who taught me how to fish and cook." Mako explained giving Tea the information that she wanted to know about how he can cook.
"Well Mako, what exactly brings you here to participate in this tournament?" Yuki asked since after hearing Mai's reason for being here she wanted to know other duelists reasons for dueling.
"I was raised on a fishing boat where I learned to love the sea, so if I win here, I would love a vessel of my own." Mako said whilst glancing over his shoulder to look at the ocean behind him with a fond smile before looking back at Yuki. "Of course, I'll have to beat a few duelists first. Ha ha ha ha ha!" He stated with hearty laugh as no one really noticed the undertone to his voice when he said that.
"Your own boat? How great would that be, living life out on the big blue sea?" Tea said though really it was more of a question whilst smiling at Mako.
"Yes, the ocean is amazing, and we have shared a special bond since I was born." Mako said as he glanced over at the ocean with a fond smile once again as he enjoyed talking about the ocean. "I can tell when the sea is happy by the way it sparkles... and when it is angry by the shifting tides." He explained as a darker tone came to his voice when he was talking about an angry sea as the group of five blinks in confusion.
"Mako, you ok?" Yugi asked with a small frown since how can someone who seems so nice have such a dark tone towards something?
"Ah ha ha, yes I am fine. Excuse me. I did not mean to be so serious." Mako said whilst scratching at the back of his head with a small blush of embarrassment.
"Oh, no. Don't apologize." Tea said quickly with a few hand gestures to reassure Mako that he had nothing to apologize for.
"Yea, you and your fish saved our hides. Some of us would be starving without you." Joey said also trying to reassure Mako that he didn't have to apologize. "This has really been great. Thanks again." He added as he stood up from his spot next to the now extinguished fire.
"Leaving so soon, are you?" Mako asked with a weird tone to his voice as he watched the five people infront of him stand and prepare to leave.
"Nice meeting you, Mako." Tea said though that really wasn't an answer to his question about them leaving.
"Thank you for sharing the fish." Yugi said with a smile and a small bow as he was raised to have some manners.
"Yeah, and maybe we'll get that chance to duel at some point in time." Yuki said though she had a weird gut feeling that they would be dueling sooner rather than later as her, her brother, and her friends start to leave.
"We certainly will..." Mako said threateningly as he picked up his harpoon that was laying on the ground next to him and stood up. "Sooner than you think, my friend!" He exclaimed catching the attention of the retreating group of five.
"Hot buff fisherman say what?" Yuki asked as she stopped walking and half turned in order to look back at Mako.
Next thing Yuki knew a harpoon was flying through the air as the pointy end got lodged in the ground dangerously close to her foot. This made her flinch in fear with a gasp as she stood there shaking and frozen staring at the harpoon with wide eyes. All of the color soon drained from her face as she realized that if it had been any closer to her she would've been a Yuki kebab! Yugi was now glancing between the harpoon and his sister in worry as he also realized the same things she had as he glared at Mako. It's one thing to get mad at someone for trying to steal fish but to throw a harpoon at someone is just plain insane. Plus the malicious grin on Mako's face as he was laughing didn't exactly help his case right now as he stood with his arms crossed.
"I treated you to dinner. Perhaps you will honor me with a duel." Mako said though it really didn't seem like he was giving Yuki a choice in the matter.
"He's nuts!" Joey exclaimed not liking that someone had thrown a harpoon at his friend as Yuki was still frozen in fear as she looked at Mako.
'He, h-he literally threw a harpoon at me and now he wants to duel?! What kind of twisted crack head world am I in?' Yuki thought as she was trying to get her racing heart under control whilst slightly gripping at the leather strap that her puzzle hangs from.
"No, but I am an expert fisherman. And you have taken my bait. Ah ha ha ha!" Mako stated with a triumphant laugh still grinning like a mad man.
"What bait?" Tea asked since she seemed to be the only one willing to voice their confusion.
"Why, the fish, of course. I laid it out and lured you four right in. But I never expected to catch Yuki Muto." Mako explained with narrowed eyes that were zeroed in on a stunned Yuki.
"Ah, forget this crazy chicken of the sea, Yuki." Joey urged since why should Yuki give this guy the time of day when he could've nearly killed her with his harpoon?
"Yeah. You don't ask someone to duel by throwing a harpoon at them man!" Yugi exclaimed still glaring at the guy who could have killed or hurt his sister if his aim had been off a bit.
"Can't we just give the guy back a few fish?" Tristan asked wondering that if they just caught some new fish for Mako then they could leave.
"I reeled in another duelist a short time ago, but he was not a worthy opponent." Mako said whilst glancing down at the star chips in his glove before closing his eyes. "But a duel against you, Yuki, would be a true test." He proclaimed whilst pointing a finger towards Yuki whom had finally gotten over her shock and fear.
"Fine, you want a duel, then I'll give you a duel." Yuki grumbled whilst handing her bag over to her brother for safe keeping.
The Millennium Puzzle then begins to glow and pulsate as Yuki is bathed in a blinding white light. As the light fades Yami Yuki once again stands where Yuki stood just moments ago and looked at Mako with a determined face. Her posture exuded nothing but confidence as she stood there with one hand on her hip and a smirk on her face. Yugi was once again looking up at Yami Yuki curiously as each time he sees her in action he can't help but think that she is a totally different person from her sister. Sure they are both great duelists and exude the same amount of confidence but Yami Yuki has a certain edge to her that Yuki doesn't. She never backs down from a challenge and seems to want to win at any cost but still knows her place sometimes.
"I accept your challenge, Mako Tsunami. Prepare yourself, for this will be your reckoning." Yami Yuki stated as she looked at Mako who seemed overjoyed that she accepted his challenge.
"Behold, Yuki Muto." Mako said the ocean behind him began to ripple and turn wildly as if it was storming as a duel stadium raised up from being beneath the water. "We shall battle beside the majestic sea." He explained as the dueling stadium set itself up and stood there next to the cliff.
"Yeah, but how do we get on it? It's suspended over the fucking ocean!" Yami Yuki exclaimed with massive amounts of sass as she looked at the dueling stadium.
"You shall have to figure that out on your own." Mako said as he effortlessly made it over to his side of the dueling stadium.
"Jerk, and here I thought you were hot..." Yami Yuki grumbled as she barely managed to make it over to her half of the stadium without falling off.
