Wolfie: I don't own anything related to Yu-Gi-Oh. All I own is Yuki and all the plot alterations I make to add her into the world of Yu-Gi-Oh. I am thinking of doing stories for Yu-Gi-Oh GX and 5D's but I will save that for after this one is finished or is nearly finished. Now please read and review this and I hope you like it so far.

Chapter 14: Attack from the Deep part 2

"The playing field is equally split into 2 halves." Mako explained now that him and Yami Yuki were both up at their dueling dashboards. "One half is land. The other is sea." He said as he was on the half that was the sea whilst she was on the land side.

"Yeah yeah I get it, now what are the stakes, Mako?" Yami Yuki asked wanting to get down to the nitty-gritty details of their duel.

"No need to be testy, Yuki. I wager 2 star chips on this match." Mako said as he pulled two star chips from his glove and put them on his dashboard.

"All right, 2 stars it is then." Yami Yuki said as she took out two star chips from her dueling glove and placed them on her dashboard as well.

'Finally an adversary of real merit. How I have waited for this day.' Mako thought with a huge grin as he knew that defeating thee Yuki Muto will be no walk in the park. "Now, let the battle begin!" He bellowed aloud as they both drew their first hand of cards and got ready to duel.

"This should be some match." Tea said since this would be the first time their friend has gone up against ocean Duel Monsters.

"Go big sis, you can do it!" Yugi called out whilst waving around his Yuki banner that he had once again pulled from... somewhere.

"Sink that soggy sucker, Yuki!" Joey urged with a clenched fist that is slightly raised into the air.

"I'm curious to see how you will combat my mighty denizens of the deep." Mako said as he placed a card depicting a kraken with an attack of 1,200 and a defense of 1,400 but this was only known to him.

"What trickery is this? His monster is underwater." Yami Yuki said in confusion when the monster did not appear and all she could see was a glowing spot under the water. "How the fuck am I supposed to choose the right cards to play when I can't even see what I'm dealing with?" She asked now very nervous since she won't even be able to tell how strong the monster is with the added power bonus.

"This I don't like." Joey said mirroring the heterochromic eyes girls concerns about the playing field.

"How is big sis supposed to fight something she can't see?" Yugi asked as he looked up at the tree teens standing around him wondering if they have an answer to his question but they didn't.

"The ocean conceals many things beneath its shifting surface." Mako said as his monster stayed safely hidden from sight beneath the water on his half of the field.

"As long as that monster stays submerged, I can't even try to attack it." Yami Yuki remarked with a snarl as she continued to look at the glowing spot beneath the water.

"I promise he won't stay submerged for very long." Mako revealed as he knew that his monster would come out and attack when Yuki plays a monster.

'Damn, I have no way of knowing what that thing down there is, which means I don't know how strong it is either. Just to be on the safe side, I'd better better prepare for the worst with the strongest defense I can muster.' Yami Yuki thought with gritted teeth as this is her only option until she can actually see what she is dealing with.

'Hmm... Clearly this is Yuki's first encounter with sea based Duel Monsters. She will learn firsthand what a powerful ally the see can be. It gives my creatures a field power bonus, and it conceals them, making their stealthy attacks even more lethal.' Mako thought with a grin still ever present on his face since he was more than happy to crush his opponent with his ocean monsters.

"Something's fishy. How can she fight what she can't see?" Joey asked causing Yugi to sweat drop as he had literally asked that same question like a minute ago.

"Beats me." Tea said since none of them were necessarily an expert when it comes to these things.

"This is totally bogus!" Tristan exclaimed in outrage since there is no way that this could possibly be fair.

"Ha ha ha ha ha! It seems that my ocean-based strategy has taken you by surprise, Yuki." Mako said obviously enjoying that he has infact taken her by surprise in this duel.

'Yeah yeah, laugh all you want. Even if you did take me by surprise I can still build a strong defense.' Yami Yuki thought as she pulled a card from her hand whilst looking at Mako. "I call upon the Horn Imp!" She called out as she placed the card on the field an a bald creature in a kilt with one horn appears on the field with an attack of 1,300 and a defense of 1,000.

"Now, Fiend Kraken... Ensnare him!" Mako ordered as beige and red tentacles suddenly burst forward from the watery depths of Mako's side of the field.

"Shit, my Imp!" Yami Yuki exclaimed as the tentacles restrained her Horn Imp and pulled him into the air. "Attack it, now!" She ordered hoping that her Imp was strong enough to defeat the Fiend Kraken as her friends and little brother let out gasps.

"What is that?" Tea asked because none of them have seen ocean Duel Monsters either.

"What it is, is oversized calamari." Yugi stated bluntly as he watched his sister's Imp get ensnared and picked up off of the land side of the field.

"Whatever it is, it's bad news for Yuki." Joey said as the Fiend Kraken had Yami Yuki's Imp completely restrained and unable to attack let alone move. "Oh, man. Yuki's Imp is done for." He said since it seemed like no matter hard the Horn Imp tried to attack like he was ordered to he just couldn't move enough to do so.

"Fiend Kraken, end this now!" Mako bellowed his command as the tentacles ensnaring the Horn Imp began to constrict harshly causing an audible sickening cracking sound.

"Aah!" Horn Imp yelled clearly in pain before the constricting tentacles destroyed him as he shattered into a million pieces.

"Well done, Kraken." Mako praised the tentacles that had now straightened out due to no longer having a victim in its hold as Yami Yuki snarls.

"Wow. And that was just his opening move." Tea said in awe as the tentacles sunk back down underneath the water hiding them from view once again.

"Damn, you're as good as they say you are, Mako. Quite the impressive opening move." Yami Yuki praised because who said she can't duel and be a good sport about it at the same time?

"I am pleased you appreciate it, though I very much doubt your Imp did." Mako said and since said Imp hadn't been in defense mode like Yami Yuki intended it has caused her to lose life points.

Mako: 2,000 Yuki: 1,740

"Well, at least now I know what I'm fighting." Yami Yuki said despite the fact that she hated that she basically sacrificed her Imp to find out what she is dealing with.

"Yes, the mighty ocean commands respect, as do the creatures that inhabit it." Mako said completely ecstatic that not only did he have the upper hand but he was also teaching his opponent to respect the ocean.

'Hmm, maybe I can prepare some kind of an attack that will completely decimate his little fishy's, even if I can't see them.' Yami Yuki mused whilst looking at Mako over the tops of her cards as she chooses another one. "Feral Imp!" She said as she put the card in play causing a Imp with green fur and wings appears on the field. 'My Feral Imp should completely eradicate Mako's monsters, now matter how deeply they're hidden in the sea.' Yami Yuki thought with a smirk as thought this move would work in her favor.

"I am familiar with your feral monster and its electrical attack." Mako stated causing Yami Yuki to have a slight taken-aback look come to her face. "So for my next card, I play... my Giant Jellyfish." He declared as he places the card face down in defense mode on the field. "Ha ha ha ha. Behold!" Mako called out as yet another glowing spot appeared beneath the water on the field with a shrieking sound.

"Uhh... That really doesn't sound good." Yami Yuki said since the underwater shrieking was creepy and quite unnerving.

"Ah ha ha ha ha! That is the battle cry of my creature." Mako explained with a laugh as it seemed like every aspect of this duel has caused him to laugh.

'God this guy laughs too much...' Yami Yuki thought with narrowed eyes and a scowl as she pulled a new card from her hand. "Oh it'll have something to cry about... once I add the magical Horn of the Unicorn to my Feral Imp!" She elucidated as she placed a magic card depicting a unicorn horn over top her Feral Imp card. 'Ha, lets see how he handles this.' Yami Yuki thought as electricity crackled around the imp as the unicorn horn replaces his original horn as he became more feral looking and his attack grew to 2,000.

"All right." Joey said clearly happy about the move that Yami Yuki had just made.

"What?" Tea asked not understanding what caused Joey to be happy about this particular move.

"Yuki can't see Mako's monsters, but she knows they're all underwater, and water conducts electricity." Joey explained to Tea with a smile so she understood what was so great about this move.

"Like how big sis used Summoned Skull against Weevil's waterlogged moth." Yugi added just so Tea realized just how powerful electricity is when it is added with water.

"Oh! So they're vulnerable to the Feral Imp's electrical attack. Whoa! That is so smart!" Tea realized as the Imp on the field stood talk as his body crackled with electricity.

"Magic Lightning attack!" Yami Yuki bellowed as her imp roars as purple lightning bursts forward from his horn and shoots towards the water as something bursts forward from the water.

"It's a fish fry!" Joey said as he watches with a smile waiting for Mako's monster to be destroyed and take away some life points.

"Hold on! What's going on here? Nothing happened at all. Mako's life points are still at 2,000." Yami Yuki said clearly confused because her Imp's attack had hit something so why aren't Mako's life points going down?

"Ah ha ha ha. Your strategy has failed, Yuki. Ha ha ha ha!" Mako laughed as a jellyfish crackling with electricity rises up from the depths of its hiding place.

"What the fuck do you mean it failed?!" Yami Yuki interrogated through gritted teeth as she glares at the laughing ocean duelist.

"As a sea duelist, I am well aware that water conducts electricity, so I played my Giant Jellyfish. It has the magical ability to absorb all electrical attacks, protecting all of my ocean creatures." Mako said as his jellyfish continued to let out its shrieking battle cry as it floated above the water as Yami Yuki snarls again.

"Big sis isn't doing to good with keeping her temper in check..." Yugi mumble in worry whilst he looked at Yami Yuki who looked about ready to pop a blood vessel as the jellyfish sinks back down into the water.

"And now it's time for my counterattack. Fiend Kraken, crush her Feral Imp!" Mako said as the tentacles of his Kraken reveal themselves once again and encircle the Imp. "Crush him now!" He ordered as the tentacles constrict around the Imp till he shatters just like the last one as Yami Yuki snarls yet again. "Ha ha ha! Did you enjoy my Kraken's embrace? Ha ha ha ha ha!" Mako asked as he laughed once again whilst his Kraken's tentacles sink back into the water.

Mako: 2,000 Yuki: 1,480

'Ugh, this is horrible! I've never had a duel against monsters like these before. It feels like I'm fighting Mako's sea creatures and the unforgiving powerful ocean itself.' Yami Yuki thought as what seemed to be two glowing eyes were staring at her from underneath the water.

"Do any of your cards have the power to stand against my ocean pets?" Mako asked as he watched Yami Yuki choose yet another card.

"Pests is more like it." Yami Yuki mumbled as she holds up the card that she chose. "However, I have the power of... Silver Fang... combined with the magic of the Full Moon to double his ferocity." She said as she placed the two cards on the field as a cyan and red colored wolf appears on the field and a full moon appears above him as he howls.

"Ah ha ha ha, ferocious indeed, but the moon also controls the tides, causing them to rise..." Mako pointed out causing Yami Yuki to grit her teeth and narrow her eyes again. "Allowing me to unleash my next creature. Arise, mighty Kairyushin!" He said as he puts the card into play causing something to start rising up from under the water.

"What is that thing?" Yami Yuki asked as she watched Mako's new monster breach the surface of the water revealing itself to be a blue and yellow serpent with red eyes and sharp red teeth.

"Whoa, that is one big fish!" Joey said as him, Yugi, Tristan, and Tea were watching this with a mix of shock and worry.

"Behold, the colossal Kairyushin! A creature so enormous, that when he rises up from the ocean depths, he creates his own tidal wave!" Mako said as massive waves were formed by the serpent now towering above the field.

"Oh shit, that thing is massive!" Yami Yuki said as she had to tilt her head back in order to look up at Kairyushin.

"Your wolf is brave, Yuki, but he will not stand before my Kairyushin's Tidal attack." Mako stated as his serpent attacked with a roar causing Silver Fang to howl as he is washed away by a wave.

"Silver Fang! No!" Yami Yuki called out as her wolf is washed away and effectively destroyed.

"Gone... but my Kairyushin's Tidal attack did more did more than simply wash your wolf cub away." Mako said causing Yami Yuki to be confused about what he was talking about.

"Huh?" Yami Yuki asked having not yet noticed what was going on with her side of the field.

"It considerably altered our playing field." Mako stated causing Yami Yuki to finally look down at the dueling field.

"No! The land on my half of the field, that attack nearly washed it all away!" Yami Yuki realized with wide eyes as the only patch of land she had left was where Silver Fang had been standing.

"Ah ha ha ha! You should consider yourself lucky, Yuki. In my previous duels, when Kairyushin attacks, absolutely nothing is left standing in its wake. I think it was quite considerate of my pet to leave you a little patch of dirt to stand on, don't you?" Mako asked tauntingly because getting a rise out of Yami Yuki made this even more enjoyable. "Or does it make you uneasy to be surrounded on all sides by the sea? All men give pause before the savage power of the mighty ocean... even the greatest of fishermen." He said as his tone turned serious once again as this caused the heterochromic eyed girl to finally put the puzzle pieces together.

"You mean your father, right?" Yami Yuki asked now feeling sympathy for the ocean duelist wash over her like a wave.

"My father was a great fisherman." Mako said as he laid his hand of cards face down and kept his palm on his dashboard. "He taught me my love of the sea... but one day, the sea... took him." He admitted since this was obviously hard for him to talk about as he began to have a flashback.

Flashback beginning

"I loved going out on the boat with my father, just the two of us and the big, beautiful ocean, never suspecting that the sea would turn on us." Mako explained as he remembered that fateful day where him and his father were on their small fishing boat out at sea.

"Look, Mako. There's a storm blowing in." Mako's father said as he was looking off into the distance at the approaching storm clouds.

"A big one?" Mako, who looked no older than 10, asked as him and his father paused in the middle of pulling in a fishing net.

"Maybe. I've learned to never take chances with the sea." Mako's dad said causing his son to let out a small oh in understanding.

"And father was right. Suddenly the calm, and friendly sea turned into a raging maelstrom. It pitched our boat as if it were a toy." Mako said as the calm sky's of his flashback were darkened by ominous storm clouds as the calm sea turned violent and choppy as it tossed the boat to and fro.

"Ah, father! I can't hold on!" Young Mako called out in fear as he was hanging onto the side of the boat desperately trying not to fall overboard.

"It's ok, Mako." Mako's father reassured as a tidal wave was rapidly approaching the small fishing boat. "There. I've tied you down. You'll be safe here, son. I promise." he said as he finished securing his small son to the mast of the boat.

"Dad, look out!" Mako exclaimed over the sound of the raging storm as the tidal wave was closing in on the small boat.

"Aaaah!" They both yelled as the tidal wave crashed down upon their little boat.

Flashback ending

"When the storm had finally died out, our little boat had washed ashore. My father was right. I had been perfectly safe. But because had had stopped to tie me down, he had no time to secure himself to the mast! I thought I had lost him forever, but then I noticed that our lifeboat was missing. I know my father is alive... so I will win this contest, buy a ship, and search the 7 seas until I find him! That is why I duel, Yuki. That is why I must win and you must lose." Mako said as Yami Yuki was about to make a move but stopped herself as she placed her hand of cards down for a moment.

"I sympathize with you Mako, I truly do." Yami Yuki said as a solemn look came to her face as Mako realized something as well.

"You have lost someone as well." Mako deduced as the fierce look on his face disappeared at that realization.

"Yes, my parents..." Yami Yuki said as she rolled up the sleeves of her shirt and jean jacket revealing jagged scars scattered across her otherwise soft porcelain skin. "In a car crash 6 years ago, Yugi was only 2 at the time so he doesn't really remember them and luckily he had not been there when it happened. I hadn't been so lucky." She said as she rolled back down the sleeves of her shirt and jacket as she looked at Mako who had an unreadable look. "Just like you, I had practically been safe from everything but the shattering glass whilst my parents weren't so lucky." Yami Yuki said as she looked down slightly as Yugi gave his sister a look of worry since she didn't like talking about this.

"So it seems we are kindred spirits in a way." Mako said as he was seeing Yami Yuki in a new light as he now held a new kind of respect for her. 'She may not know it, but she is like the ocean. Standing strong and unrelenting no matter how much grief and strife she is put through.' He thought as he looked at the heterochromic eyed girl with his newfound respect shining in his sea green eyes.

"I suppose we are, but I still cannot let you win, Mako." Yami Yuki said causing Mako's frown to turn into a smile at what she had said.

"Ha! Then I shall do the same with you, we shall not go easy on one another because of our past griefs." Mako said as he picked up his cards and Yami Yuki did the same with a nod.

"Oh, wow." Tea breathed out in awe at what Mako said though she honestly had ignored what Yami Yuki had said.

"Mako duels for his dad like Yuki duels for her Grandpa. But... I had no idea that happened to your guys parents." Joey said as he glanced between Yami Yuki and Yugi in sympathy at the fact that the two Muto siblings lost their parents.

"It's ok that you didn't know, big sis doesn't really like to talk about it anyways." Yugi said with a small shrug since he knows that the car crash had been really traumatic for his sister.

"Whoa, this is too intense!" Tristan exclaimed because not only were they seeing an amazing duel but they were also seeing two great duelists connect on an emotional level.

'With only that little island of land left I've gotta make this next move count as if it is my last. I need something that will help me turn the tide in my favor... something like this.' Yami Yuki thought as she pulled a card from her hand and placed it down onto the field. "Giant Soldier of Stone!" She called out as she placed the card down in defense mode and a soldier made out of stone with an attack of 1,300 and a defense of 2,000 appeared kneeling on the field. "You may have shrunk my land down to a mere island, Mako, but it still gives my stone soldier a field power bonus." Yami Yuki said as her soldiers attack points rose to 1,690 and his defense points rose to 2,600.

"Your massive monster can barely fit on that little rock, let alone do battle with my undersea attack force." Mako said since there was no way that monster could attack from such a tiny island. "And he is surrounded on all sides by the ocean, making him easy prey for... Great White Terror!" He exclaimed as he placed a card depicting a shark down in attack mode with an attack of 1,600 and a defense of 1,200. "This savage shark will lead my other sea creatures in an all out ocean onslaught!" Mako declared as shadowy figures under the water began advancing upon the stone soldier.

"Man, Yuki's guy is outnumbered 3 to 1. Her stone soldier's about to become fish food!" Joey said as the three shadowy figures under the water were now circling around the small island.

"This is it, Yuki. It's over, but you played honorably." Mako said as just like Weevil had the ocean duelist had made the mistake of thinking that he had already won this duel.

"Mako, you have been a fair and noble opponent as well, but I duel with a loved one's fate at risk as well..." Yami Yuki said with a smile as Mako's eyes widened in shock at this unexpected information. "Which means I cannot afford to lose." She said as she reached down and spun her card so that it was laying vertically on the field. "I switch my stone soldier to attack mode!" Yami Yuki bellowed as her stone soldier stood up from his kneeling position as some pieces of rock crumbled off of him.

"Attack mode? But why?" Mako asked completely perplexed as he stared up at the hulking form that is the stone soldier. "He cannot attack my sea monsters while they are underwater." He pointed out wondering if Yami Yuki forgot about that as he heard her let out a few chuckles.

"But Mako, his target isn't going to be your little fishy's. I'm having my soldier attack a card I put into play myself." Yami Yuki said smiling in a cheeky way as she pointed to something above the field as her soldier unsheathes one of his swords. "The moon!" She clarified without even looking up at the glowing orb that is the Full Moon.

"No!" Mako exclaimed as he looked towards the Full Moon as he begins to sweat since that card being destroyed will effect him as well.

"Now, stone soldier! Destroy the moon!" Yami Yuki ordered as her soldier impaled the moon with his sword as it cracked and broke apart with an explosion of rubble and bright light.

"Aah!" Mako yelled whilst shielding his eyes from the bright light coming from the destroyed moon. "What's happening?!" He asked in shock when he could finally see what was happening to the almost completely waterlogged playing field. "The tide... it's going out! But how?" Mako interrogated as his wide eyed stare turned from the disappearing water to Yami Yuki who was smiling with her eyes closed.

"You said so yourself, Mako, the moon has control over the ocean's tides... its ebb and its flow." Yami Yuki explained as she opened her eyes as her gaze lands on Mako once more. "Because of this I ordered my stone soldier to obliterate the moon, causing the tides to recede and go in reverse." She explained what was now happening to all of the water on the field.

"Aaaaaah!" Mako yelled in utter despair whilst making wild dramatic posses that were quite funny to look at.

"Your sea monsters have been beached by my stone soldier. There is no ocean left for them to hide in." Yami Yuki said as all of Mako's ocean monsters were laying helplessly on the drenched ground around the stone soldier.

"No... my precious fish." Mako whimpered as he was sweating and looking at his beached ocean monsters like someone had just kicked a puppy infront of him.

"Now I shall deliver the finishing blow." Yami Yuki said as she pulled a card from her hand as her eyes never leave Mako. "I combine my Curse of Dragon with the Burning Land magic card to decimate your remaining life points." She said as her dragon appears above the field with a screech as he reared up and prepared to attack. "Burning Land attack!" Yami Yuki called out as her dragon shot out a stream of flames towards the field and the helpless ocean monsters. "And that Mako, takes your life points down to zero." She said as the fire burnt all of Mako's monsters to a crisp as their attack points added up to more than 2,000.

"Rrrr-aaaaah! No!" Mako yelled in defeat as his remaining cards in his hand went flying down to the floor as he was gripping at his hair in frustration.

Mako: 0 Yuki: 1,480

"Ha ha ha! Way to go, Yuki!" Tea praised as she had an open mouth smile on her face with her eyes closed.

"Yeah! Yes!" Joey and Tristan exclaimed as they had weird goofy grins on their faces and looked like they were flexing but also looked constipated as well.

"Ha ha! Yay big sis, you did it!" Yugi yelled whilst jumping around excitedly like he had eaten way to much candy and was having a sugar rush.

"Destroying your own moon card was a brilliant and unexpected move, Yuki." Mako said in a disheartened tone sighing as he closed his eyes for a moment before opening them and regaining his smile. "Ha ha. What a grand duel. I salute you, my friend." He said in a happy tone as he looked at Yami Yuki with the sweetest smile ever.

"My victory did not come easily, Mako. You're an amazing duelist." Yami Yuki said her smile from before becoming alot sweeter as she looked at the happy ocean duelist.

"Ha!" Mako laughed as he lightly brushed his thumb against his nose and gave Yami Yuki a small wink.

This time around when it came to getting down from the dueling arena Mako actually gave Yami Yuki some help this time. She was grateful for this seeing as she had barely gotten onto the platform without falling off the first time around. Once back on dry land the ocean duelist handed over his two star chips that the heterochromic eyed girl won from him. As the star chips were placed in the palm of her hand she could see that Mako was actually proud to have been beaten by her. This made Yami Yuki happy as well as she added the two new star chips to her glove giving her a total of 5 star chips.

"I am down to one star chip, but I will start over again..." Mako said as he stood facing Yami Yuki with his harpoon in his left hand.

"And I bet you'll do fine." Yami Yuki said glad that this defeat didn't crush Mako's hopes like it seemed to do with Weevil.

"You'd win that wager. Ha!" Mako stated as he clasped his free hand with Yami Yuki's in a high five meets hand shake sort of way.

"Hmm. Till our paths cross again, Mako." Yami Yuki said feeling like she may run into Mako in the near future.

"Till our paths cross again, Yuki." Mako repeated as he also felt like they may run into one another in the near future.

"You know, I can't help but like that Mako. He's such a great guy and all. I hope he finds his father someday." Tea said and Joey was behind her nodding in agreement.

"Yeah and I think dueling big sis helped him see that he's not alone in his grief..." Yugi said just as Mako's stomach growled causing said duelist to blush as he looks at his stomach.

"Ah ha ha ha! My friend, dueling you is hungry work." Mako said with a laugh as Yami Yuki watched him in shock. "Time for Mako to fish again! Farewell!" He called out as he took a running start and jumped off the cliff back into the water swimming away as he laughed.

"Bye, Mako." Tea said even though Mako couldn't hear her as her, Joey, Tristan, and Yugi watch Mako swim away as they blinked completely dumbfounded.

"Wish he'd bring us some fish." Tristan said since they were all starting to get hungry again.

"If we want more fish we'd have to duel him again." Yami Yuki stated with a smile since she doubted that Mako would just give them fish again causing her friends and brother to laugh.

"Ah, forget about it. But guys, I am getting seriously hungry." Joey said as their little group began to walk away from the cliff but Yami Yuki stopped and glanced back at the water for a moment.

"Not a problem. We've still got my Great outdoor survival guide." Tristan said as Yami Yuki finally continued to fallow after the four people in her group that had continued to walk away.

"No way!" Tea protested since she still does not like the idea of eating plants.

"Big sis and I have food so I'm not worried about us." Yugi said as he looked at said girl who was now walking next to him.

"Go ahead, Tristan. Eat all the pages you like." Joey said as he was also against eating plants as they walk back into the forest.
