Chapter 25: Arena of Lost Souls: Part 1
Come morning Joey was sobbing and whimpering in his sleep because of a nightmare that was a result of his humiliation at the hands of Seto. However a drop of morning dew that had fallen from the leaves above him and landed on his face. Effectively waking him up in a cold sweat as he had a momentary bout of panic, sitting up out of shock at being woken up. Though the blonde was thankful that what he had witnessed was nothing more than a dream. Though that certainly didn't stop him from getting frustrated at the outcome of the dream. He had been chased by the Blue Eyes White Dragon and then when Seto appeared he treated him like a dog! Just thinking about it only added to the frustration he was currently feeling towards the dream. Joey quickly standing up out of frustration and snapping at everyone to wake up, seeing as he was the only one awake at the moment. Him snapping at them caused them all to wake up and get up from their designated sleeping spots one by one. With it being Yuki, Yugi, and Tea in the tent and Joey, Tristan, and Bakura under a nearby tree.
"What is it Joey, is something wrong? I swear if there's no immediate danger I'll hit you with a rock for waking us all up this early." Yuki grumbled as she left the tent, running her fingers through her hair to get rid of her bed head as she walked over to the boys.
"Yeah, some of us are trying to sleep." Yugi called out as he poked his head out from inside the tent that him and Tea were still in, sleepily glaring at Joey.
"What is it Joey?" Bakura asked as he stood up from sleeping sitting up against the tree.
"Ahh, nothing's wrong. It's just a brand new day of the tournament, and I'm hot to find us a duel!" Joey exclaimed as that was just way too much energy for one person to have in the morning.
"Well, you don't have to yell about it." Tristan pointed out as he picked up his jacket, having been using it as a blanket last night.
"Damnit, where's a rock when you need one..?" Yuki mumbled as she looked around for a rock, fully intent on hitting Joey with the one she found if not for Bakura holding her back and talking her out of it.
"Hey, guys, what's all the commotion?" Tea asked as she was now finally awake and walked over to the other's with Yugi by her side after she packed away her tent.
"Aside from Joey waking us up at this ungodly hour and Bakura talking me down from trying to bash his head in? Not much, morning by the way." Yuki said as they noticed a familiar nap sack held in Tea's arms minus a certain blonde female.
"Where's Mai? Isn't she with you?" Joey asked, being the first of them to ask why Mai wasn't here this morning.
"She said she had to go. And to give you this note, Yuki." Tea explained as she fished a piece of paper out of her pocket and held it up for Yuki to read.
"Hmm?" Yuki hummed in question as she looked at the note, wondering why Mai left a note instead of saying it in person.
"Yuki, I'm certainly not good at saying thank you. What you did for me is something no one's ever done, and I owe you one for that. See ya around sometime- Mai" The note read, clearly written in lipstick as Yuki doubted Mai had a pen, as Tristan read over her shoulder.
"Yeah, she'll owe you one when pigs fly." Tristan said sarcastically as there was no way that Mai would actually stick true to her word.
"I dunno, maybe we can trust Mai to keep her word." Yuki mused, after all she helped Mai so maybe one day she'll return the favor.
"And if not, well, we're still the team supreme. Right?" Joey asked, the other's all agreeing with him as they cleaned up their campsite and were on their merry way.
As they were walking down a dirt path through the forest Bakura brought up a subject that they all were curious about. Which is just how many duelists are left on the island after all of the duels that had happened yesterday. Which caused Joey to point out how alot of kids had been shipped home and Tea made the assumption that even more have gone home since then. Yuki didn't really pay much attention to the conversation, only putting her two cents in about how some of the players were strong. They also had strong cards as well and she would've liked to have dueled them, but she didn't stay focused on the past for long. She was focusing on keeping an eye on Yugi so that the 8 year old doesn't fall behind as they walk. Though Yukli couldn't help it as her mind drifted to Seto, she hoped that he had at least found somewhere to rest for the night and had steered clear of eliminators. Even if he hadn't she doubted that an eliminator would be able to stop him, let alone defeat him in a duel. Not with the fact that his litter brother's life, not to mention his company, are on the line if he doesn't beat Pegasus. Just thinking about that, and the fact that Mokuba was in Pegasus's clutches again because of her, made Yuki grit her teeth.
"If we're not careful, we could be next to be kicked off." Yuki said as so far they have been lucky, but their luck could run out at any moment.
"Not a chance. Yu. Those other guys just wanted the prize. You and Joey have alot more at stake." Tristan reminded causing Yuki to look at him over her shoulder, seeing as he's walking behind her.
"True. I have to rescue Grandpa from Pegasus, and Joey needs the prize money so he can help his sister. And i have no doubt that the duelists we will face today, are going to be much stronger." Yuki stated as she turned her head so she was watching where she was walking once again. "Seeing as they have survived this long." She added as her brow furrowed slightly, things won't be any easier than they were yesterday, that much she was sure of.
"Even stronger?" Joey asked as he stopped walking, honestly in disbelief that these remaining duelists will be stronger than the ones he faced yesterday.
"Careful what you say, Yuki. You've got little Joey here shaking in his sneakers." Tristan said as they all stopped walking, however Joey seemed to have taken that the wrong way.
"What? You think I'm a scared little puppy dog?" Joey asked, all but biting Tristan's head off as he turned and shoved the other male.
"I don't think I heard Tristan mention the words puppy dog or scared. Did you big sis?" Yugi asked softly as he glanced at his sister who let out a small sigh as she shook her head no.
"Well, if the collar fits." Tristan said as they both got into each other's personal space, their foreheads touching as they looked ready to beat each other senseless.
"All right, break it up." Tea said as she pushed the two of them apart before they could get into a fist fight like the last time they were mad.
"Hey, you just bring on any duelist. Then I'll cream 'em." Joey said with gritted teeth and a raised fist, clearly ready to put his energy and apparent anger to good use.
"Yeah, now that's what I call a good way to channel your energy, Joey. Just remember to believe in yourself, man." Yuki said with a smile and a nod, as long as he's careful and isn't getting himself into unneeded fights she saw no reason to be upset about his abundance of energy anymore.
Unbeknownst to the small group of 6 three men, all obviously duelists, were watching them from a cliff up above them. The smallest of the three of them, Bonz, had already singled out Joey as his next target as his friends agreed with them. And as they continued to watch the group to find out who they are the red head of the group, who might be Australian, recognized Yuki. It immediatly registering in their minds that she was the girl that was able to defeat Seto Kaiba. Seeing as a find as rare as Yuki Muto was, well rare, they decided to go and tell their boss. Sneaking away from the cliffs edge without being noticed by the group below them as they ran off to their boss, Bandit Keith. Talking in a secluded area where no one can hear them or their plans as they report their findings to the so called bandit. Who immediately caused them to think of underestimating Yuki seeing as none of them have ever actually seen her duel. Which made them all reason that the stories about her could be just that, nothing but stories to hide her true abilities as a duelist. And whilst his brain-less flunkies were rambling about how they were just the muscle Keith glanced over his shoulder at Pegasus's castle off in the distance. He was thinking about how soon it would be time for him to get revenge against Pegasus. Keith's mind immediately going back to his memories of defeat and utter humiliation at the Intercontinental Championship.
Flashback beginning
"Ha! Any final words, mullet-head?" Bandit Keith asked with a smirk after looking at the card he just drew.
Pegasus however just looked Keith in the eyes, as if he was studying him, before scribbling something on a piece of paper. Then he called a kid over from the audience, a young blonde boy named Sam who was missing one of his front teeth. Allowing the boy who was no older than 10 or 11 to take his space across from Bandit Keith. Clearly intending on letting Sam duel for him using the deck that he himself was planning on using. The crowd, special guests, and defeated duelists watching this sudden turn of events in awe as this has never happened before. Meanwhile Sam silently sat in the chair that, confused as to why he was called down but also kind of excited at the same time. After all it's not everyday that someone gets called down from the stands by Maximillion Pegasus himself. Let alone right when the tournaments final match to decide who the winner of the whole tournament is was about to begin. However no one was objecting to the sudden change in who was dueling, after all this was a decision made by Pegasus himself. No one in their right mind would dare argue with a decision made by him, well, no one except for one Bandit Keith.
"Hey, what are you doing? Asking for help's illegal!" Bandit Keith snapped, not at all happy with this change in opponents that was happening.
"I don't need help. A child could defeat you, Bandit Keith, and I'm going to prove it." Pegasus explained as he stood next to the chair that was now occupied by Sam. "Just follow these instructions and you'll win." He explained as he handed over he piece of paper he had been scribbling on moments ago to the young boy.
"Ok, punk, beat this!" Bandit Keith exclaimed as he played his card in attack mode, who cared if he was dueling a kid instead of Pegasus? All that matters right now is if he wins, gets the title, and takes home the prize money!
"Good card, but the note says when you play that I should play this one in attack mode." Sam said, reading from the note before taking a card and playing it in attack mode.
"No way!" Bandit Keith exclaimed with wide eyes as he stared at the card that had just been played by Sam.
"Uh, I think I just took all of your life points." Sam sated, once again reading from the piece of paper that Pegasus had handed to him.
"What? You little snot-nosed brat! There's no way you could have known I was gonna play that card! Give me that!" Bandit Keith growled out, shaking with rage as he stood up and snatched the piece of paper out of Sam's hand and read what's on it. "Huh? Uh? It's all here. The card I played, how to beat it. Everything!" He exclaimed in disbelief as Pegasus chuckled in amusement with a smirk.
"Sam is the winner." Pegasus declared as he held up Sam's hand at the same time that Keith fell to his hands and knees.
"Noooo!" Bandit Keith exclaimed, still in disbelief as he sat there on his hands and knees with his deck scattered around him.
Flashback ending
'You may have defeated me, Pegasus, cheated me, but nobody makes a fool out of Bandit Keith!' Bandit Keith thought as he glared at the castle before turning his gaze back towards his goons. "Now, you said you found 2 duelists?" He asked just so he was clear on how many duelists that they may have to take on.
"Yeah, Yuki and some dweeb named Joey." Zygor revealed so that Bandit Keith would know both their names.
"Good. We'll take the dweeb out first." Bandit Keith stated as he stood up from the rock he was sitting on, earning an evil chuckle from the three men infront of him.
Meanwhile back with Yuki and the other's Joey was honestly starting to become paranoid. Jumping at even the slightest of sounds and now he was starting to think that they were being followed. Which led to Tea actually calling Joey paranoid as Tristan wanted to know what was eating at him lately. Ever since he woke up this morning Joey has been hyper and on edge and the other's could see it taking its toll on him. Sure none of them have been friends for that long but even before then they've never seen the blonde male act this spazzed out. Not even when he has a test in a class he's failing and he forgot to study he's never acted like this. Joey however insisted that someone was stalking them before he shudders and runs off ahead of the. Tristan immediately calling out after him to find out where exactly he's running off to. It's not exactly the wisest idea to split up right now, not when there are duelists that could jump Joey whilst he's alone. Forcing him into a duel he's not prepared for that could end with him losing all of his star chips. However all Joey said as he ran off was he was going to stalk them without even knowing who "them" is.
Once again none of them noticing as Sid and Zygor watched them from within the bushes. Both of them letting out quiet evil chortles at how spooked Joey currently is. Knowing that it'll be a piece of cake to get him to where he needs to be now that he's broken off from his little group of friends... Eventually Joey had wandered his way to a little waterfall that fed into a stream and that seemed to calm him down from his earlier stuper. Assuming that his friends were right and he was panicking for nothing he turned to leave. Only to come face to face with Zygor who had a sadistic grin on his face as Joey asked if he could help him. Only getting a sinister laugh as a response as he was hit over the head and knocked out, getting dragged away to somewhere. Waking up to the sound of Zygor telling him to wake up and calling him a dweeb with a laugh. Joey groggily opening his eyes as he came face to face with a smirking Zygor, not quite noticing what he was sitting on just yet.
"Wha- you!" Joey exclaimed in shock as he soon noticed that they were no longer near the stream as Zygor continues to laugh. "What? Where am I?" He asked as it seemed a little too dark and damp for them to be outside.
"Heh heh heh heh. The boss wants you." Zygor stated as if that was going to clear up Joey's confusion.
"Oh! Wha-." Joey yelped in shock as the thing he was sitting on suddenly moved, rising him up to a his duel computer as he stood. "Wah! What is this place?" He asked as he saw that they were in a cave that contained a dueling arena that mimicked a grave yard.
"Ha ha ha ha ha!" Bandit Keith laughed, clearly enjoying how freaked and confused Joey currently was.
"Gah! A tombstone?" Joey asked with a small sweat drop, yelling in shock as he heard what was Bonz attempting to sound scary.
"Wooooh... Welcome, duelist, to the Arena of Lost Souls." Bonz said as his platform raised him up till he was no longer hidden from view.
"Aah!" Joey yelled as he shook, clearly getting freaked out by all of this.
"Abandon hope, for no duelist gets out of here alive." Bonz said in a spooky tone, not even really trying all that hard to seem scary.
"Help! A ghost! Aah!" Joey yelled, hoping someone would hear him as his panicked screams echoed through the cave.
Whilst Joey was in the cave getting scared by every small thing Bonz says, the now group of 5 was looking for their missing friend. Noticing right away that he had been gone for quite a long time and the first thing that was considered was maybe he got lost. Yuki though otherwise though and so did Tristan, both of thing assuming that Joey got challenged to a duel. Which made a hell of a lot more sense than the blonde male getting lost because after a while he should've found his way back to them. Tristan immediately feeling like he's to blame for Joey going off on his own and dueling alone. After all if he hadn't been teasing him about being scared then he wouldn't have run off and he'd still be with them right now. Seeing as talking about what may have happened and blaming themselves was getting them nowhere Bakura suggested that they split up. All of them agreeing as the group split up into two search teams, with him and Tristan going in one direction. Whilst Yuki, Yugi, and Tea headed off in another direction as they all began to search the woods for Joey. All of them hoping deep down that maybe he wasn't in trouble, that he'd just sat down somewhere to relax and calm down and had lost track of time. Meanwhile back at the cave things weren't exactly getting better for the terrified Joey Wheeler...
"Prepare for your final duel. This arena will be your graveyard." Bonz threatened sinisterly as Zygor, Sid, and Bandit Keith watch on in amusement behind him.
"Ooh, spooky." Zygor stated, clearly joking because none of this was scary to him.
"Spot on, mate. He's got the dweeb scared stiff." Sid commented as Bonz laughed at the fact that Joey was so scared that he was frozen in place.
"I don't believe it. Looks like the guy fainted on his feet. Heh heh heh heh." Zygor laughed as Joey was broken out in a cold sweat, mouth agape in shock, and his were as wide as saucers.
"Yeah, so do something, Zygor. Get busy and wake him up!" Bandit Keith ordered as he looked down at the raven haired male from his seat above them.
"You heard him, dweeb. Rise and shine." Zygor said as he grabbed a nearby skull and threw it, it hitting Joey in the head and effectively bringing him back to reality.
"Ha ha! The ghosts of the dead are all around you, Joey. There's no way to escape from your fear." Bonz said to Joey who was groaning in pain and too focused on soothing the pain in his head to pay much attention to what was being said to him.
"Huh? Who says I'm scared?" Joey asked, trying to act like he just hadn't been screaming in fear before going as stiff as a board not too long ago.
"You can't hide the truth from the spirits, Joey. Wah! They see you frozen in fear." Bonz said clearly trying to make Joey panic and scream like he was before he was suddenly frozen and dead to the world.
"Ok, I was afraid, but not cause of the graveyard or your ooga booga rap." Joey said deciding he might as well tell Bonz the truth about what scared him. "It's your creep face that gave me the willies!" He exclaimed, completely serious as he pointed a finger at the shorter male.
"Ha ha ha! You have to admit he's got a point, Bonz." Bandit Keith said as him, Sid, and Zygor got a kick out of that at the expense of the now sulking Bonz as they laugh.
"Yeah, you even spook me out, Bonz, and I'm on your side." Zygor said through his laughter as it practically had him in stitches.
"Well, if you're on my side, then stop laughing at me!" Bonz snapped at Zygor before turning his attention back to joey as the laughter stopped. "So, are we gonna duel or just stand around talking? Lay down your star chips now." He ordered, wanting to kick the other male's ass and get his star chips so they could move onto trying to battle Yuki.
"Grr. Hey, I never even agreed to this duel." Joey grumbled, not liking this whole kidnap and force to duel strategy that's being used on him.
"Tough luck. You haven't got any choice, dweeb." Bandit Keith said causing Joey to let out a growl of frustration, isn't this supposed to be a fair tournament?
"There has to be some way out of this." Joey said to himself softly as he looked around for a way to escape this cave and this duel.
"Huh? You want a way out? Well, hand over all your star chips and crawl out like a scared little puppy dog." Bandit Keith said, basically saying that Joey could duel and have a chance at winning or forfeit and get booted off the island.
"Bad doggie!" Sid yelled tauntingly before him and his companions all burst out into laughter at what he said.
"Puppy dog?" Joey asked as that choice of words brought the chilling memory of his dream back to the surface.
Flashback beginning
"Sit at your Master's feet where you belong." Seto ordered as his dragon reared up it's head with a roar, descending upon Joey. Clearly intending to try and eat him as it's mouth opened, showing off its rows of sharp pointed teeth as its head gets closer and closer to him.
Flashback ending
"If I run from this, I really will be a scared little puppy dog." Joey said as he wa slightly hunched over his dueling computer in response to the feelings that were brought back by the flashback. "So, I'll just have to beat you! 4 star chips!" He exclaimed as he slammed his star chips down onto the dueling computer as he accepts the duel.
"Ha! Nice going, boss. He fell for it. Ha ha!" Zygor praised with a laugh at how gullible and easily manipulated Joey is as the duel began.
Bonz: 2,000 Joey: 2,000
"Put him away quick, Bonz. Send him straight to the grave with a zombie card!" Zygor advised causing Bonz to let out a yeah in agreement and a thumbs up at the advice given to him.
"A zombie card? Yikes. Now I get what he's up to." Joey said, now realizing why the dueling field resembled a graveyard.
"You don't stand a chance. This arena's one big graveyard field, and all my zombie cards get a field power bonus here." Bonz said as he held up his deck, telling Joey right off the bat that he'd be the only one getting a field power bonus this duel.
"Grr..." Joey growled, still frustrated despite the fact that he had accepted this duel that was forced upon him as Bonz laughed.
"Here goes! My zombie card." Bonz said as he began to pull a Medusa-looking zombie card from his hand, intending on playing it.
"Not so fast, squirt." Bandit Keith suddenly said, causing Bonz to stop pulling the card from his hand.
"Huh?" Bonz hummed in confusion, glancing back towards Bandit Keith to see why he suddenly spoke up.
"Hold that card for now. Play the one on the far left instead." Bandit Keith said as he pointed a finger causing Bonz to be extremely confused as to why he was told to play a different card.
"Play the one on the left, boss?" Bonz said as he looked back towards his cards, immediately noticing that the card he was told to play was not a zombie card. "But that card is Zanki. Zanki's not a zombie card at all." He said as he looked at the blue skinned samurai, flabbergasted as to why this was in his zombie deck.
"You needed some raw muscle, so I slipped it into your deck, Bonz." Bandit Keith explained with a smirk even though that decision made no sense given the playing field.
"But if it's not a zombie card, it won't get the field power bonus from the graveyard." Bonz argued as that was the only reason they were in this cave to duel in the first place.
"Don't argue with me, squirt. Just do what I tell you." Bandit Keith ordered as he was starting to not like having Bonz questioning his judgment.
"But-." Bonz started to try and argue again only to be cut off by Bandit Keith growling in annoyance at him.
"Play the card. Bandit Keith won't steer you wrong." Zygor reassured as Sid nodded quickly whilst saying right right in agreement. "How could any of us have gotten this far without following his advice?" He asked, seemingly terrified of what may happen if Bonz continues to argue with Bandit Keith.
"Yeah, right." Sid said as he nodded again, also seemingly terrified of what may happen if Bonz keeps arguing with their boss.
"What is this, dueling by committee? You gonna play the card or aren't you?" Joey snapped, getting fed up with the fact that Bonz was arguing instead of dueling.
"Right, boss. Whatever you say." Bonz said reluctantly, ignoring the rest of Joey's rant as he turns back to said blonde male. "Zanki- in attack mode!" He exclaimed as he put the card in play and the samurai appeared on the field with only 1,500 attack and 1,700 defense points.
"This'll put a dent in Zanki's armor." Joey said as he played a card and his Axe Raider appeared on the field with 1,700 attack and 1,150 defense points. "Go, Axe Raider! Attack! Wind Blades!" He exclaimed as his monster charged towards Zanki, easily destroying him with one swing of his double sided axe. "All right! So much for your armoured warrior." Joey said happily with a grin as Bonz lost 200 life points.
Bonz: 1,800 Joey: 2,000
"He wiped me out! Ohh..." Bonze groaned in disappointment as he looked towards a bemused Bandit Keith via his peripheral vision.
"Heh heh. Looks that way." Bandit Keith said as he was neither worried nor angry about this loss.
"So, why did you make me play that lame card? If that had been one of my zombie cards, I could have clobbered him!" Bonz grumbled, part of him starting to doubt Bandit Keith's judgment with having him play Zanki.
"Bonz! Where's all your spooky chatter now, you little creep? Play your next card. Whatever it is, I'm ready." Joey said, feeling that it would be a walk in the park to defeat Bonz if he keeps this up.
"Ohh... I have to play a zombie card." Bonz insisted as he reached for another one of the zombie cards in his hand.
"No, not that one, Bonz. Second card to the left." Bandit Keith called out, once again stopping Bonzz from playing a zombie card.
"Huh?" Bonz hummed in confusion as he glanced at Bandit Keith before pulling the card from his hand to get a closer look at it. 'The Crawling Dragon? This isn't a zombie card, either. As soon as I play it, he'll obliterate me. Just like last time.' He thought, mouth a gape in shock before he glanced towards the so called bandit as he scowls.
"Look, I know you don't like it. Just be patient, Bonz. We're working on a strategy here. Remember, no duelist has ever beaten Bandit Keith without cheatin'." Bandit Keith said but that certainly did not sound very reassuring to Bonz, like at all.
"Yeah, until now." Bonz uttered as he did not like how he was already missing life points. "Defense mode!" He exclaimed as he placed the card face down in defense mode, causing a space on the field to light up for a moment.
"Running from me already, skull face? You're not so scary after all, huh?" Joey asked as his dueling so far made it seem like all that talk about final duels and graveyards was nothing more than a scare tactic. "Go, Axe Raider! Slice 'im and dice 'im!" He ordered as his monster charged causing the Crawling Dragon to appear and easily be destroyed with a roar.
"Ohh!" Bonz groaned through clenched teeth as he shook with rage, thankfully it was in defense mode so he lost no life points.
"I win!" Joey exclaimed, happy that he creamed Bonz's second monster with his first one.
"Now play the card that's on the far right." Bandit Keith said not even giving Bonz a chance to try and make a decision on his own this time around.
"Rrr!" Bonz growled in distress at this as he turned to Bandit Keith with a sweat drop and a distressed look.
"You heard me. And don't use defense mode this time. If the dweeb can't see your monster, he might just hesitate and wait to attack." Bandit Keith said with a sadistic smirk, not caring that his backseat dueling was causing Bonz distress.
"Ohh..." Bonz groaned again, hesitant to follow through with what Bandit Keith just told him.
"If you don't wanna trust me, Bonz, I'll keep my advice to myself. It's up to you." Bandit Keith said as he gave a dismissive wave of his hand.
"Um... Crass Clown- in attack mode!" Bonz said as he played the card after drawing a new one and adding it to his hand. A fat toursoed yet skinny legged monstrous clown with a baton and 1,350 attack and 1,400 defense points soon appeared on the field with a laugh.
"Is that the best you've got? Flame Swordsman!" Joey called out as he played a card and his trusty swordsman appeared next to his Axe Raider.
"Let's duel!" Bonz and Joey shouted at the same time as Crass Clown charged towards Joey's monsters with a laugh.
"Flaming sword of battle!" Joey shouted as his swordsman's sword was engulfed in flames as he attacked, destroying the clown. "Too bad. One Crass Clown going down." He said watching as Bonz was whimpering as he lost 450 life points.
Bonz: 1,350 Joey: 2,000
'Creepshow is scared. I got him on the run, and I plan to keep him that way. There's way too much riding on this duel for me to blow it.' Joey thought as he closed his eyes, remembering his little sister as some tears welled up in his shut eyes. 'My sister Serenity's counting on me. So, watch out, skull face! You better be scared, cause this little puppy dog is gonna chase your bony ass right out of your own graveyard.' He thought with a rekindled fire and determination that he was not feeling when he woke up this morning.
"Now what?" Bonz asked as he looked towards Bandit Keith, now sweating bullets at the fact that his life points are almost halfway gone.
"Just relax. You've already got this duel won, Bonz." Bandit Keith stated with a smirk as he still wasn't worried that Bonz was losing.
"What's the problem, Bonz? Can't fight this duel on your own? Maybe your coach wants to take me on. I'll cream him, too." Joey stated as he was on a roll, he felt as high as a kite and that he could take just about anyone on.
"Oh, yeah? Looks like you need a lesson in strategy, dweeb." Bandit Keith said as he turned his gaze towards Joey, looking like a complete asshole by wearing sunglasses in a cave.
"Huh?" Joey hummed in confusion as he watches Bonz draw a new card and look at it.
"Oh! Wow. I had totally forgotten about this magic card, boss. Now I understand." Bonz said as he looked at Bandit Keith, gaining a gleeful and sinister smirk on his face.
"Lay it down, Bonz! Play your trump card!" Bandit Keith exclaimed, glad that Bonz had finally caught on and wasn't doubting him anymore.
"You're finished! This magic card is unstoppable! The Call of the Haunted!" Bonz shouted spookily as he played a card depicting a graveyard with purple smoke rising from it.
"The Call of the Haunted?" Joey asked, never having heard of it but he didn't really like the sound of it either.
"It brings all the monsters you destroyed back from the grave." Bandit Keith explained but not because he wanted to help Joey out.
"But they come back as zombies, with the power of immortality!" Bonz added as it was like a horror movie scene with a spooky graveyard as the ground starts to crack.
"Wha-?" Joey started to say, watching in shock as the rotting corpses of the monsters he defeated began to climb out of the ground. "Oh, no. Oh, no!" He exclaimed as all of his hard work was basically undone with that one card.
