Chapter 26: The bad news
The next morning
"YAWWWN!"
Jet lets out a big yawn as he walks into the Diane's kitchen in his pajamas after having woken up out of bed. He was about to open one of the bottom kitchen cabinets to get out some cereal and fix himself some breakfast when his sensitive little canine nose picked up a very sweet and welcoming smell.
"*sniff sniff sniff* Say something smells yummy." Jet said as he looked around trying to locate the source of the smell
It didn't take long for Jet to find the source of the smell which was a large plate of white colored sugar cookies sitting up on the counter next to the stovetop. Jet's eyes widened in delight as he took in the sight of the super sweet and delicious baked treats above before him.
"Woah! That looks so yummy!" Jet drooled
Jet didn't think twice as he right away grabbed a nearby empty trash bucket and flipped it upside down placing it on the floor up close to the counter. The young little wolf pup then climbs up on top of the bucket so he could be shoulder level with the counter and easily reach the cookies. After retrieving one cookie off the plate, Jet licked his lips and opened his mouth to take a big bite when...
"AH-AH-AH! Oh no you don't!"
Jet freezed right where he stood as his fur stood up and his heart jumped for a split moment upon hearing the familiar voice out of nowhere.
"Put the cookie down, nice and slowly." The motherly voice said
Slowly and hesitantly, Jet turned his head all the way to his left to see his adoptive fox mom standing right beside him with her hand on her hips. Diane looked at her little pup with a smug 'I caught you' smile on her face as she softly tapped her paw on the kitchen floor.
"I'm waiting sweetie." Diane ordered kindly
Jet didn't want to put the delicious cookie back but he was caught red pawed and he had no other choice. Diane watched as her adoptive wolf pup gently put the cookie back on the plate with the others without a word.
"Much better." Diane smiled before going up to Jet and scooping him up in her arms
"Now just what do you think you're doing stealing a cookie? You know you're not supposed to have sweets until dessert time my little bad guy." Diane cooed as she lovingly nuzzled her son
"But mom I was just gonna have one. What will happen if I ate a cookie now? Will I die?" Jet asked innocently
"*giggles* No sweetie. I just don't want you to spoil your appetite or make your sweet tooth get out of control." Diane smiled
"But Mr. Wolf once told me that the world is my oyster and I can have many things as I want because life is too short." Jet said
"Oh he told you that? Oh goodness me, what else has he been telling you?" Diane asked in concern
"Well he also told me that life is boring without taking risks and he also said that money can buy happiness." Jet said
"Oh Wolf what are you trying to teach my pup." Diane said in her mind before looking back at Jet
"Now listen Jet, I totally understand what you are saying but please be a good boy for mommy and listen to me for now okay honey pie?" Diane smiled
"*sigh* Okay mommy." Jet sighed in slight sadness
"Tell you what, you can have a cookie. But just one." Diane said grabbing a sugar cookie from the plate and giving it to her pup
"*Gasp* YAY! Thank you mommy! *Om nom nom nom!*" Jet excitingly munched down on the cookie much to Diane's amusement
"Hehehehe! You little cookie killer." Diane cooed
Meanwhile at the bad guys hideout
Ms. Tarantula was peacefully asleep on the couch in front of the TV with a small blanket over her. She was pretty exhausted from babysitting Jet yesterday that she had to sleep in for the morning. Normally spiders like her sleep on webs above ground, but she finds the couch much more comfortable.
"Hehehe! ooh this is gonna be good!" Mr. Wolf grinned
"He won't see it coming!" Piranha grinned along with him
Mr. Wolf and Piranha on the other hand were both in the kitchen area setting up a prank trap for Mr. Snake. The prank trap was a large glitter bomb ball inside the refridgerator and Mr. Wolf was rigging it to go off when the fridge foor is opened up by the victim.
"Almost got it...and finished!" Wolf said as he carefully closed the fridge door with the bomb now set
"Oh he's coming right now!" Piranha jumped
With that, Wolf and Piranha quickly run over to the couch to take a seat and act natural as Mr. Snake comes slithering in.
"Morning fellas!" Snake smiled
"Hiya Snake! You sleep like a reptile?" Wolf greeted back
"Hehehe! Oh you kill me Wolf!" Snake chuckled
"It's showtime amigo." Piranha winked at Wolf
"*clears throat* Hey uh Snake, could you get me a soda from the fridge?" Wolf requested
"Sure pal. Coming right up." Snake said not knowing he was in for a surprise
Mr. Wolf and Piranha did their best to hold in their laughter as they watched Snake slither up to the fridge. With his tail, Snake grabs the handle of the fridge door and opens it up setting off the bomb inside before he knew it.
*BAM!*
The bomb explodes blasting lots of glitter right in Snake's face totally throwing him off guard and temporarily blinding him.
"GAAH!-MY FACE!" Snake cried out as he frantically tried to shake off all the glitter
"AAAHAHAHAHAHA! OH MY-AAAAHAHAHAHA!"
"WAHAHAHAHA! OH IT WORKED! HAHAHAHA!"
Both Wolf and Piranha bursted into a big laughing fit together upon seeing their prank bomb successfully worked.
"*Snorrr-* Uh wha? What's with all the racket?" Tarantula mumbled waking up from the commotion
A while later
Snake was sitting on the couch with a very grumpy expression on his face as Tarantula was using a wet rag to wipe all the remaining glitter off of his scales.
"Come on Snake how about it, we got ya good. It was knee slapping funny wasn't it?" Wolf smiled
"I am so getting you back Wolf. And I promise you it won't be glitter!" Snake warned
"Snake just chill and hold still please." Tarantula said as she continued wiping off glitter
"Say why don't we turn on a comedy channel to remove that grouch off your face amigo." Piranha said trying to lighten things up
"Yeah let's see what's on today shall we." Wolf smiled as he picked up the TV remote and switched on the ginormous flat screen TV in front of them
"Morning fellas!" Mr. Shark greeted as he suddenly showed up with a hot cup of coffee in his fin and took a seat on the couch with the others
"Woah Shark you almost sat on me!" Tarantula exclaimed jumping out of the way
"Oh! Hehe my bad." Shark smiled innocently
Mr. Wolf flicked through different channels on the TV until passing a news channel with something familiar that caught Snake's eyes.
"Hey Wait Wait! Go back to the news channel!" Snake requested
Wolf right away changed back to the news channel and what appeared on it made the bad guys all shocked.
"This just in! Just recently last night at around 11:30 PM, former Professor Marmalade, the dangerously evil guinea pig has just escape from maximum security prison and is currently on the loose at large." The female news anchor woman announced with a mugshot photo of Marmalade next to her
The mugshot photo of Marmalade had a caption below it written in all red capital letters 'ESCAPED'.
Hearing the news anchor's announcement and seeing the photo of Marmalade caused Mr. Shark to spit out his coffee in sheer shock and disbelief.
"Yo what the? Is that who I think it is?" Tarantula said
"Right now police and county sheriff are on a serious guinea pig hunt for Marmalade. If you or anyone you know has seen or heard of this escaped convict, do not hesitate to call 911 and report. And please do not attempt to approach or capture this convict yourself for he is known to be very dangerous." The news anchor woman concluded her announcement
"Uhh...can someone pinch me because I think I'm seeing things right now." Snake said with a disbelief expression
"Oh no Snake you're not. We're all seeing it." Wolf said with fear written on his face
"What the-...is this-...is this really happening!?" Tarantula said growing more worried
"Did Professor Marmalade...really break out of prison!?" Shark said also freaking out
"Oh mama. This not good." Piranha added
The bad guys all looked at each other before looking back at Marmalade on the TV.
"UH-OH." The bad guys said in unison
