Chapter 30: Infiltration gone wrong
After the long Drive, Diane and the Bad Guys were getting near to their destination as they were now totally outside of LA and driving on an isolated dirt road through a forest heading straight towards the rocket silo.
"There it is guys! Dead ahead!" Wolf said upon seeing the rocket facility straight ahead in the middle of a forest clearing
"We're coming to get ya Marmalade!" Tarantula said with determination in his eyes
However the entire abandoned facility was surrounded with barbed wire chain-linked fencing and closed off with a large chain-link security entry gate. There were also large several warning signs posted on the sides of the road and on the main entry gate.
The signs read:
"GOVERNMANT INSTALLATION - DO NOT ENTER"
"NO TRESSPASSING - VIOLATORS ARE SUBJECT TO HEAVY IMPRISONMENT"
"WARNING - NO UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS BEYOND THIS POINT"
"DANGER - LAUNCHING SITE"
"ATTENTION - AREA UNDER CONSTANT SURVELLANCE"
"WOLF STOP THE CAR!" Diane exclaimed
Mr. Wolf does so as he slams on the brakes bringing the muscle car to a rapid stop.
*SCREEEEEECH!*
"Quick kill the engine!" Diane requested
Mr. Wolf obeys again as he switches off the ignition making the engine cease and go silent. Now all there was to hear was the dead silence of the forest around them. They were now sitting parked 50 feet away from the main entry gate of the facility.
"What are we stopping for Diane?" Wolf asked
"We're stopping because...this is not right." Diane said
"What's not right?" Ms. Tarantula asked
"We can't just go bashing right in. Marmalade is expecting us so he must have a trap waiting for us in there." Diane said
"She's right you guys. She's saying this out of experience." Mr. Wolf said as he recalled the time he and Diane tried to infiltrate on Marmalade's seaside mansion only to be tied up upside down above a pit of sharp moving blades.
"I have to agree on that. So what do we do at this point?" Mr Snake asked
"We gotta use highly extreme caution. We gotta go in carefully without getting caught. We gotta think like Marmalade in a way." Diane said
With that, Mr. Wolf takes out a special expensive high-tech battery powered signal gun that can detect any kind of signal from hidden eletronic devices such as digital bugs, alarm triggers, or security cams nearby. The device was a basic pistol grip shape with a small antenna dish at the end of it making it look like an alien vaporizer. Wolf stands up in the car and aims the device out scanning the area all around them. He scans through the trees and heavy bushes throughout the thick dense forest and finds no signs of hidden cameras or alarm systems among the dirt road or in the silo facility. If the device were to detect a signal, it would make a beeping sound. But it didn't.
"Hmmm...weird." Wolf said
"You reading anything amigo?" Piranha asked
"I guess Marmalade is making this too easy for us. I'm not picking up any kind of security or defence systems around us." Wolf said as he shuts off the device
"He's correct. I'm not picking up any kind of signals around here. Not even active security cams of the place. It's like there's no power. It's all dead quiet." Tarantula said as she typed away on her hacking laptop
The group of anthro animals all sit in silence suspiciously listening to the quiet forest around them Only occasional sounds of birds chirping was breaking the silence.
"It's quiet...too quiet." Mr. Shark said
"Okay guys. Even though this looks easy, we gotta go in carefully. So let's move." Diane said
With that, Diane and the Bad Guys all step out of their muscle car and cautiously start making their way slowly up the dirt road towards the rocket facility while keeping their eyes and ears peeled for trip-wires or any kind of surprises Marmalade has prepared for them. Ms. Tarantula was riding on Mr. Shark's shoulder like usual while keeping her laptop open and ready just in case. Diane on the other hand was weilding a loaded taser gun while Mr. Wolf weilded an armed grappling hook gun for when they make up to the fence.
As the group quietly tip-toed towards the facility, Diane spots something on the dirt road with her sharp eyes. It looked like a round switch looking device discretely hidden beneath the surface of the dirt. And the worst part was Mr. Wolf was about to step on it without knowing.
"*GASP!* WOLF WATCH OUT!" Diane shouted as she tried to run and stop Wolf
But it was too late. Mr. Wolf steps on the hidden switch.
*CLICK*
At that moment before everyone knew it, The switch triggers a small round frisbee shaped tactical mine to shoot up out of the dirt in the middle of the group before exploding in mid-air like a party popper and releasing a large amount of white colored knock-out gas everywhere.
*BANG!*
"GAH! WHAT WAS THAT!?" Tarantula exclaimed
When Diane sees the white gas released by the exploding mine, she instantly panics.
"EVERYONE QUICK! COVER YOUR MOouuu...*PLOP!*" Diane gets knocked out fast by the gas as she falls and hits the ground unconcious
"OH NO! DIAAaaaa...*THUD!*" Wolf falls unconcious next
The sleeping gas takes fast affect as Piranha, Snake, Shark, and Tarantula all fall unconcious on the ground. Before you know it, the Bad Guys and their fox ally were all lying unconcious in the middle of the dirt road in silence with their eyes shut before a shadow of a small figure walks up to them from out of nowhere wearing a gas mask.
"Perfect." The shadow figure said
2 hours later
...
...
"Mmmm...mmmmm Ugh. My head." Diane said as she was regaining conciousness and opening her eyes
Diane's vision was temporarily blurry so she rubs her eyes clean before taking in her surroundings.
"Uhhhh is it morning already?" Mr. Wolf said as he too was waking up from unconciousness
"Oh my. I had a weird dream." Tarantula said as she rubbed her head
In just a few minutes, the rest of the Bad Guys all wake up with Diane.
"What the heck happened to us back there?" Mr. Snake asked
"I don't know. I think we were all knocked out by that gas bomb Wolf set off." Diane said
"I can't believe I didn't see where I was going." Wolf said
"Has anyone seen my laptop?" Tarantula asked
"No idea Webs...WAIT! Where's all our tools!?" Mr. Shark exclaimed noticing that he and everyone else were all stripped clean of their important gadgets and weapons
"Nevermind our tools! Where the heck even are we!?" Mr. Wolf exclaimed noticing they were all in a large cell room made entirely out of heavy concrete with a thick heavy locked steel door being the only entrance with no inside handle knob
The steel door was 12 inches thick with a small 4 inch thick bulletproof glass window at eye level.
"No No this can't be! We've been caught again!" Diane exclaimed as she tried her best not to panic
"Yeah but only this time with the rest of us." Snake said as he felt the walls of the cell
"We are trapped like crabs!" Piranha added
"Oh No! And I didn't even have lunch yet!" Shark Panicked
"Well Crud! I can't believe it! This is just like when I touched that stupid dolphin!" Wolf cried out in guilt with his hands on his face
"Hey it's not your fault Wolf. Calm down." Diane assured as she lightly embraced Wolf
"Well good afternoon old friends."
A familiar voice said making everyone direct their attention to the cell door.
The Bad Guys and Diane all went cold and silent the moment they saw their enemy looking at them through the window of the cell door.
