Audrey told Seymour he could wait in the car while she went to see if her name was up on the newly-posted cast list. He wouldn't have minded walking in with her, but he got the sense it had more to do with nerves than not wanting to inconvenience him, so he was happy to let her have a few moments to process whatever she saw before she had to share it with him.

He hadn't wanted to take the script away while Audrey was still busy using it to get ready for her audition, but since it was still in the car while he waited, he decided to take the few minutes he was sitting by himself to flip through a few pages. Reading through the first scene, it seemed to be setting up a busy street with a lot of different people going about their business, many of them getting up to some sort of trouble, until eventually the mission band arrived to try and impart some order. With all these roles, even if many of them were small parts, surely there must be something they had picked for her. He knew it took bravery for her to do this, and he'd do his best to convince her she should feel good about herself even if she didn't get in, but he really hoped it would turn out well for her. He certainly felt that after everything they'd been through, she deserved things that would make her happy.

When Audrey came walking back to the car, he soon found himself confused as he tried to guess what news she would have. She didn't exactly look upset, but she wasn't beaming with excitement either. Mostly, she looked a bit stunned. He really wasn't sure whether he should offer congratulations or start consoling her.

Audrey avoided looking at him as long as she could by fiddling with her seatbelt, but finally decided she needed to say something already, and she glanced over with a tentative smile.

"So, um… I'm in the show." She said.

Seymour beamed at her, which immediately did a world of good to settle her nerves.

"That's great! I knew they'd think you were talented!"

"Yeah, I guess they did…"

She had thought that the people running the auditions might have looked impressed when they heard her sing, but she had still worried she might be imagining it. The past few days had been a bit of a balancing act between trying not to let herself get buried in doubts while also not setting herself up to be crushed by letting her hopes get too high. Though as she'd just found out, maybe she could have let them get a bit higher.

"Who are you playing?" Seymour asked.

Audrey glanced down again, trying to hide a bashful smile, but Seymour could still tell that she was feeling proud of herself.

"Is it Sarah, like you were hoping?"

Audrey shook her head, but while her smile faded slightly, it didn't show any signs of completely disappearing.

"No, they picked someone else for that. But it's alright. She was very good, and I didn't really think they'd see me as the right fit for it." Brightening up again, she then added, "But I still do have a part. And, well… it's not just in the background. I'm playing Adelaide."

"Audrey, that's wonderful!"

Seymour wasn't sure if he knew exactly who all the characters were yet, but he had gotten through enough of the information in the first few pages to know that it was a big role. He couldn't say that he was surprised. He was sure anyone could see that Audrey was amazing, but he was glad to hear that they'd recognized it nonetheless.

Starting to fidget with her seatbelt again, a few worries started to cloud Audrey's expression.

"Do you think anyone will be mad about it? We're still pretty new here, and it's my first time doing something like this. I'm worried they'll feel like I swooped in and took the part away from someone who deserves it more."

"You deserve it. You tried out just the same as anyone else." Seymour assured her. "They'll probably just be glad to have you in the show."

Audrey nodded, letting out a more relaxed breath. Auditioning was supposed to be the most nerve-wracking part. Now that she'd gotten through it, she wouldn't let it just get replaced with worries about fitting in with the rest of the cast. It was going to be fun, and with any luck, she might even manage to make some friends.
