Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or 6teen.
Vlad Masters.
A halfa, or half-ghost, like Danny with more than twenty years of experience. The two have clashed many times, but Danny has pulled some victories off. Though an end to their fights could be seen for miles.
While the man had made a living in his home of Wisconsin, Vlad had lately taken over as the mayor of Amity Park with the use of his ghostly powers. Since then, the two have been on closer, more antagonistic terms.
But the man was never one for making personal appearances unless he had reason to do so. Mayoral duties, propaganda, press conferences, you name it.
Like this, the ones with Danny were never a good sign for the ghost boy.
"What do you want, Vlad?" Danny asked in a defensive tone.
Vlad chuckled sinisterly. The man was not fazed by anything Dany could say or do. He had spent his extra years of ghost powers training and mastering them, becoming a force the ghost boy couldn't handle head on.
"What do you know about Ms. Lemiroux?" Vlad asked, walking up to Danny while inspecting his expensive suit.
"I..know...that she's here because of you," Danny said, pointing at the man near the end.
"So in other words, nothing."
The ghost said nothing as he listened.
"Tell me, Daniel, do you know how hard it was to bring Amélie to Amity Park?" Vlad walked past the boy to a window. He leaned against the edge, staring outside.
Danny blinked in a moment of teenage confusion. What did that mean? He thought.
"Nothing to say?" Vlad asked, turning to the ghost boy. Danny glared with his glowing green eyes as the man held his hands up with a smug smile. "I can assure you, Daniel, this isn't a scheme, but an actual political move. I mean after all, we don't go fighting each everyday just cause we're both in town. Hmmm?"
Danny choked on his words, trying to retort, but even he knew Vlad took his mayoral duties with some level of seriousness. The older half left, not saying a word as he vanished.
"Though I can say, that for the time being, if you like her, you can thank me." Those were Vlad's parting words before he left, unable to let Danny rebut or retaliate verbally.
The Ghost boy sighed as he looked around the empty room. His parents were ghost hunters, yet nothing went off, one of the most troubling signs. But that would have to be for later. Right now, he was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to relax.
He'd face Vlad another day.
Since that meeting a few days, Danny noticed Amélie more. And while it was partially because of Vlad, her smile from the other day flashed in his mind. It was so happy and didn't show any of the quiet reservedness the french girl showed at school.
Danny couldn't help feeling happy thinking about it. Granted, he always felt glad when he helped the town, but this had a sliver of something more. Though he pushed that aside, blaming teen hormones.
Amélie's presence didn't go unnoticed. It was hard not with swarms of boys droning and dogging her, and that always got Danny's attention. With Dash enforcing the jocks to act like personal bouncers, the girl was like a piece of art in a public park. But the French girl had grown tired of their constant attention, not that the football team listened. Since the blonde jock always tried talking to her, more players wanted to chat.
Dash was quickly losing hold of the team with his ways. While at first, he was able to push them around, the guys had enough with him hogging Amélie . The football team had soon divided into groups, with the members changed periodically.
Not only was it fun to watch, it made things better as the jocks not only had gaps to slip through for anyone to see Amélie it also had their focus elsewhere and away from any bullying. No nerds had been shoved in lockers or had anything taken from them with pummelings down to becoming none existent. The school was actually becoming safer for the lower-status students.
At least until the foreign exchange program was up and Amélie went home.
This gave Danny plenty of chances to look at the French exchange student when he wanted. Sam and Tucker noticed this as well. While Tucker didn't care and joined his friend, the goth girl was more passive-aggressive, snarking about how they had better things to do. She tried to draw the ghost boy's attention away, but she didn't dare to say why.
But that didn't stop the girl from joining her friends in watching the jock fights.
Amélie also noticed the ghost boy's stares as well. A few times, she caught his eyes before he quickly turned away and disappeared. She found it odd, given the last few times they met. He didn't show any interest then and wondered why the sudden change of heart.
Of course, any time she tried to talk to Danny, he said nothing. The boy didn't even do anything beyond simple greetings and small gestures, like pointing to the classroom. Despite the fights, no one tried anything, least they forced the jocks to band together and resume their original ways. But the slow change brought an idea that anyone could soon talk to Amélie.
Another day had started in Casper High, but the football team was getting aggressive this time. Dash tried to muscle his team into listening, but his friend Dale wasn't having any of it. The two butt heads as the bell rang.
"Dash, I'm only gonna say this once." Dale, the center player, was in Dash's personal space. "You've been hogging Amélie to yourself, and I want to say hi now."
Dash, full of himself, would not back down, using his position as the quarterback to impose teenage authority. It would have worked against someone lower on the totem pole, but to a fellow football player, all it did was bring sparks to dry wood. The boys growled at each other, ignoring the bell ringing again and unaware their fighting was putting Amélie off.
The French girl walked by, ignoring the boys fighting over her. She was glad they were off her front and back but wished things were less prehistoric and more sociable. Many boys and girls who wanted to talk to her were still cautious. Granted, it was less with the girls, but jocks were known for being small-minded and could mistake anything if fueled by too many hormones.
"I won't lie, this is fun to watch," Sam said, watching the fight with glee. She smiled innocently as if her birthday wish had come true. "Those morons have been fighting amongst themselves, and we get a vacations. How can this get any better?"
"Are you kidding me? This is more than fun...oh, wait, wait," Tucker pointed to Lancer, who was walking down the hall with the principal. The two were very angry as they went straight towards the jocks.
Danny, who was already ecstatic, smiled wider as the faculty broke up the fight before it began. Dash gave a nervous growl at the two but relented from their glares.
Lancer sighed loudly in aggravation. It was no secret he showed favoritism, but the man did have pride as a teacher. Seeing the jocks reduced to neanderthals was infuriating and disgusting. He had at least hoped the boys could control themselves.
"Perhaps it's time to rethink certain policies," Lancer mumbled to himself. He noticed other students still standing in the hallways, snickering to themselves. "Well!? What are you youths waiting for? The bell rang! Let's get to class!"
Danny, Sam, and Tucker walked away with smiles on their faces, happy to see the social standings in high school on the verge of collapsing. Or that's what they hoped. The ghost boy had to admit, he was enjoying this, even if it was because of Vlad.
That made his smile drop.
While the older halfa insisted nothing sinister afoot, the boy could not help being suspicious. The two were never on good terms. So anything could mean that the ghost boy might have to keep a closer eye on the French girl or any ghosts that might be near her.
Of course, that would be after school, where there were too many eyes on Amélie to count.
As the class bell rang, Amélie took her books out of her locker and began walking to class. She looked over to see the jocks fighting amongst themselves and had a feeling it involved her. Walking past and adding fuel to the fire unintentionally, the girl prepared herself for another day as she walked to first period class.
Taking her seat, the Fench girl didn't notice the glare of Paulina Sanchez. The popular girl had enjoyed her usual crowd of boys complimenting and cheering at her. Since freshman year, she had maintained this social status and wasn't about to let anyone outshine her.
Paulina's only solace, at the moment, was her position as president of the Danny Phantom Phan Club. The girl had better access to the various photos and articles on the web that either she or her fellow members found. This was the only place Amélie could not take from the popular girl, which was ensured by various methods showing why Ms. Sanchez was the president.
Number one was all the incidents at Casper High and her proximity to the ghost boy. Well, to Paulina anyway. The girl was not aware Dany Phantom was just protecting everyone, but she didn't care.
Right now, though, all Paulina wanted was to feel like the queen of high school again. And with Dash and the jocks starting fights amongst themselves, it was up to her to do something about it.
Going to her locker after class, the girl stared at her photos of Danny Phantom as she thought about Amélie. She took one of the photos and hugged it like a teddy bear.
"She may have the boys' attention at this stupid school, ut not you," she cooed.
Star, Paulina's friend, tapped on the girl's shoulder, starting the Latina girl, making her jump in surprise. Paulina accidentally tore her photo of Danny Phantom in half. When she calmed down, the girl quickly pulled out some tape to fix it before putting everything back in her locker and staring at her blonde friend.
"Don't do that!" Paulina commanded.
"Sorry, but like you were jsuts standing there," Star said.
The popular girl rolled her eyes, taking a book out of her locker and sealing it closed.
"I've been thinking about that new French girl. What's her name. Amélie ."
"Ok and?"
"It's time to show Amélie and the school who the prettiest girl is."
Paulina walked away as Star followed. The blonde girl was concerned with what her friend was saying. While she was all for staying popular, the girl knew Ms. Sanchez enough that she rarely took matters into her own hands unless serious.
"This isn't gonna be pretty," Star said to herself.
And we introduce Vlad, who insists there is no sinister plot, not that Danny will believe him. But it looks like Paulina is tired of not being the center of attention. Next time, we get to have some focus on Amélie and her life in Amity Park.
