Hello everyone. It's been longer than I expected. Mostly because I'm also working on another Paw Patrol fanfic (a long one-shot) at the same time. I have plans for a mini-series of small one-shot. We'll see if I get there. Now that summer is over, I'll have less free time for writting, but I'll try to upload a new chaoter at least once a month.

Also, this story takes place between seasons 5 and 6 of the series. I hinted at this by speaking of the meteorite and how Ryder hasn't found a way to harness it's power yet.

Now, let's get to reading. Have fun.

Now that Race had accepted the Paw Patrol's help, Ryder had to make a new plan. He thought about it when eating a sandwich since it was lunch time. Race, who hadn't eaten this morning, had eyed his meal with begging eyes. Thankfully, he was used to this since he lived with six pups so he had given her a bowl of croquettes instead. She ate it quite quickly to the other pup's amusement. Everyone was now back in the tower observatory. The pups were facing Ryder who stood next to the big screen with Race sitting next to him. The boy had the sundial in his hands. Race couldn't believe she was there with them. It was both exhilarating and terrifying. She figured as long as she kept her mouth shut and a watchful eye on what was happening, it should be alright. She hoped.

"Okay team, we have two new objectives," Ryder began as animations popped out on the screen once again. "The first one is to figure out how the temporal sundial works, so our visitors can go back where…or rather when…they belong. Twenty-two years in the future. The second one is to capture Jeremy. We know he's a thief and that he's looking for the sundial. Thanks to Race, we also know what kind of technology he uses: multi-task small drone, invisibility, EMP and…trap bubbles?"

The pups chuckled when hearing the name.

"Yeah, it sounds silly, but I guarantee you it's not. His drone and bracelet can shoot lasers that trap you in a solid bubble you can't get out of," Race explained. "Blaze learned that the hard way."

"Good to know. With the technology he has, we can assume capturing him won't be easy."

"With what do we start Ryder, sir," Chase asked."

"By dividing in two teams. Rocky, Zuma, Marshall and Rubble will stay at the lookout. While Rocky works on the sundial, the three others will keep watch in case Jeremy comes back. I installed a safeguard in the Lookout, so the system can reboot automatically if shut off. It's the same one I use in our large vehicles, so I already had it programmed."

"With that, Jeremy won't be able to take control of our home again with his EMP. Smart," Rocky commented.

"That's a relief," Rubble said with everyone nodding.

"But what about the rest? Will you install the safeguard on our pup tags, packs and houses?"

"Sadly, I can't. For this reason, I ask everyone to be careful. I'll also initiate lockdown mode, so our thief can't get in. During this time, Chase, Skye and Everest will come with me and Race. We'll try to locate Jeremy and capture him." Ryder's pup pad then rang. Ryder answered it on the big screen and Captain Turbot's face appeared.

"Hello captain. What can I do for you?"

"Ryder, I'm afraid François and I have a conspicuous conundrum on our hands."

"A what?" Race asked, looking at the other pups who just shrugged.

"It means they have a problem," Ryder explained. "What is it, captain?"

François Turbot then arrived, almost pushing his cousin out of the video call. "We were robbed. Someone stole food from us right here on Seal Island."

"Robbed," Ryder repeated. "Don't worry. We're on our way." He ended the call and turned toward the pups. "Looks like we might have our first lead to find Jeremy. We do like I said. Let's roll."

The pups howled, including Race. Everyone went to do their job. To reach Seal Island, Ryder could have used the Sea Patroller, but it would have taken too long since it was on the beach on the other side of the town. He put his ATV in Aqua Ski mode and used it to pull a small inflatable boat carrying Chase, Everest and Race while Skye followed them in her helicopter. Chase and Everest sat together while Race was on the other side. They could tell that she was still wary of them as she kept acting distant and didn't say much when they talked to her. Chase thought maybe the way he had acted toward her was one of the reasons for this. Since they were supposed to work together, it would be best to be on good terms and making a new friend is always pleasant, so he decided to apologize when he would be able to. When they arrived, the Turbots were waiting for them on the dock and greeted them.

"Ah Paw Patrol, thanks for coming so quickly," François said in his french accent. "And who is this new adorable puppy?"

Race blushed a little at the compliment. She would have preferred to not be seen by other people, but she guessed it was impossible.

"Her name is Race, we are working together on an ongoing mission," Ryder explained.

"Nice to meet you Race. I am François Turbot and this is my cousin, Horatio."

Captain Turbot waved and Race did the same as she responded kindly.

"So, where did the robbery occur," Ryder asked.

"Inside the Flounder," Captain Turbot answered as the two cousins led the team to the boat. Captain Turbot prized possession. They all climbed aboard and went into the hold. It was a bit messy, but mostly clean. Directly on their left, a fridge and two empty buckets composed the food storage zone. "There is your crime scene. We filled our fridge an hour ago and nothing was missing. When I came down to fetch some snacks, they were gone. We were on the flounder the entire time and the hold's hatch was closed. An un-marvelous mysterious mystery."

"What kind of snacks," Everest asked, making Ryder, Chase and Skye shudder knowing Captain Turbot had weird tastes when it came to food.

Said man took out a box from the fridge and showed them what was inside. Two small bags with what seemed to be cookies inside.

"A small bag of sardines and lemon cookies. We had six of them, the thief only left two," answered François. "A delight. Want some."

"Uhhhh, no thanks," the Paw patrol and Race politely declined.

"Suit yourselves."

"Thanks Turbots, we'll keep you informed," Ryder said. "Chase, see if you can smell anything."

The two men left while Chase began inspecting the place.

"I bet it would have been easy for Jeremy to steal this food right under the Turbots' nose with his technology," Everest said.

"I don't know," Chase said. "There are no traces whatsoever around the fridge and I don't smell anything unusual."

"Me neither," Race said as she used her nose too," and I'm familiar with Jeremy's odor."

Skye looked at her. "You too are trained to track smells?"

"Yeah. My nose is not the best, but I'm still good at it. I doubt Jeremy came on that boat."

"It also seems odd for a time traveler thief to come all the way to Seal Island to steal food. There is more and, let's be honest, better one in town," Chase continued.

"What if he wanted somewhere to hide," Skye asked. "He could still be on the island."

Chase shook his head. "Seal Island isn't a good place for that either. Too small and nowhere to hide. Remember when we tried to play hide and seek while looking after the lighthouse."

"Oh, right."

"In that case, who took the food," Ryder wondered.

Him and the pups left the hold. The Turbots were on the deck, talking as they watched seagulls fly above the island and ate their cookies, having just finished one bag.

"Captain, François. I'm sorry but there is nothing in your hold indicating there was a robbery."

"What about the food? It didn't just vanish and we're both 100% sure there were six bags in the boxe," François said.

"Maybe the robbery occurred elsewhere? Captain, François, you said you brought the boxe in the Flounder this morning. Where did it came from?"

"From the lighthouse. We prepared it ourselves. We moved it straight from the cave to the fridge. Well, except for a few minutes during which we put the boxes on the deck while I opened the hold's hatch," Captain Turbot answered.

"A few minutes," Ryder asked, surprised it took so long to open a door.

"François and I had a disagreement about how the thermal currents of the abyssal depths of the bay affect the chondrichthyes migrations. It might have delayed us."

"Hum." Chase smelled the deck around the hatch. Ignoring the usual and weak odors, he managed to smell something. "Ryder. Someone else definitely was here recently. A animal, probably coming from the sea. Maybe he took the food while the Turbots were arguing."

Suddenly, something shot out of the water and landed on the deck, making everyone jump back in fright. Thankfully, it was just a baby walrus who cheerfully clapped her fins.

"Hey, isn't that Wally's kid? Soooo cute," Skye said. "Hello there. Where are your parents?"

The walrus clapped her fins again and warbled before looking at the Turbots.

"I think she is hungry," François said.

He was about to give her the a cookie from the last and unopened bag, but Chase stopped him.

"Wait. I don't think she is trully hungry." He smelled the walrus just to be sure. "Yep, I'm positive she is the one who stole your cookies."

"WHAT," the Turbots said shocked.

"Impossible. There is no way that this little angel would ever do something like that," François said as he petted the baby walrus.

Captain Turbot then noticed the way the walrus looked at the last cookie bag. "François, watch out!"

"Horatio, I told yo…"

He couldn't finish his sentence because the walrus suddenly grabbed the remaining bag of cookies that was in his hand with her mouth and jumped back into the water. This would have made the others laugh if, while jumping, the baby's tail hadn't got stuck into a rope which formed a knot around it.

"Oh no, watch the rope," Ryder warned, but it was too late.

Chase and Race hindpaw got caught by the other end of the rope. They were dragged into the water as the walrus swam away. It all hapened so fast they barely had the time to scream. Captain Turbot and Everest, being the closest to them, tried to catch them, but failed.

Both looked at the water and were quickly joined by Skye, Ryder and François.

"Where are they," Skye asked worriedly.

"I don't see them," Everest said.

They waited ten seconds, hoping to see the two pups resurface. But they didn't, which worried them. Sure, the walrus wouldn't purposely hurt them, but if they stayed too long underwater. Ryder tried to reassure the remaining pups as he took out his pup pad to locate Chase and Race using Chase collar while his mind raced to find a solution. Zuma could never arrive in time, so he had to think of something else.

Under water, the baby walrus swam at full speed, so happy to have snatched another bag of delicious food that she didn't notice the rope tied to her tail nor the pups at the other end who weren't enjoying this ride. The walrus was too heavy for them to stop her and they were goind so fast they couldn't grab the rope to free themselves. Since they couldn't talk, they tried to catch the walrus's attention by moving their paws or making sounds, but it didn't work. Chase tried to grab the rope again without success. He looked at Race who looked back. They both knew they didn't have much time before they needed to breathe. It was becoming urgent. Race then spotted something in front of them coming fast. A rock. She showed it to Chase who quickly understood. Together, they managed to grab it as they passed by. This caused the rope to stretch at his maximum and brutally stop the walrus in her advance. It hurt all three of them, but it was better than the alternative. The walrus turned to see what had stoped her and froze as she saw the pups. A look of terror appeared on her face. She quickly swam toward them and, using her larger and heavier body, pushed them toward the surface.

Chase and Race took a big breath as their heads broke out of the water, filling their lungs with much desired air, and coughed a little. They were in the middle of the sea, away from Seal Island, on any island for that matter. The walrus swam in front of them and warbled, worried, with the bag of cookies still in her mouth.

"We're okay baby Wally," Chase said. "(Cough) Just need a minute."

"(Cough) Or two. Can't you be more careful. You almost drowned us," Race scolded the walrus who whined, obviously sad.

The waves and current made it harder for the pups to float than if they were in a pool and the wieght of their pup packs didn't help, but with some efforts they managed to stay afloat.

"Calm down Race. It was an accident and she brought us back to the surface."

"(Sigh) You're right, but she still stole four, no five, bags of cookies. As the police pup, what are you going to do?"

The walrus looked at the bag of cookies and back at the pups. She swam closer and offered them the bag, much to their surprise, and whined again.

"Aw, I can't stay mad at you," Chase said as he took the bag in his mouth. "Since you gave those cookies back, I'll let you go with a warning. But never do something like this again. Got it? I mean it."

The baby looked sad, but nodded. She then licked them both on the face as a way to thank them and show how happy she was that they were all right.

"Okay, okay," Race chuckled. "Let's remove the rope on your tail before you go."

The walrus showed her tail and Race used her teeths to undo the knot. Chase would have helped, but he couldn't since he was carrying the cookie bag. Once the rope was gone, the walrus happily barked before diving back into water, probably rejoining her family. Chase taped his pup tag to call Ryder.

"Ryder, sir, it's Chase. Do you copy?"

"I do and I have your location. We're already on our way. Are you and Race alright? Why do you sound strange?"

"It's because I have the cookie bag in my mouth. We're fine, don't worry. Though, it's kinda hard to keep swimming."

"We'll be there in less than a minute. Hold on."

The call ended and the two pups stayed silent for a small moment.

"Sooo," Chase began awkwardly. "That was something uh?"

"Hard to say the contrary. Yet, to be honest, it was also…kind of fun. Like an epic water slide."

"You're right. And all the bubbles we made during the ride. We must have broken a record here."

"I hope so, because I don't want to try it out again. At least, not in those conditions."

"Me neither, but I bet Zuma would. It would be pawsome, dude." Chaise said the last sentence with Zuma's voice and expression, making them laugh.

Back at the Lookout. Zuma sneezed.

"Bless you," Marshall said. "Someone must be making fun of you."

"I hope not. At least not without me."

Back in the bay, it had been thirty-seven seconds since Chase had called Ryder.

"Good thinking by the way, grabbing that rock underwater," he told Race.

"Thanks…Good job finding her odor on the boat. I know how hard it is when water is involved."

"Thank you."

To Chase, this seemed like a good moment to do his apology and finally break the ice. He was about to when his pup tag lit up.

"Chase, Race, it's Skye. I have you in visuals. We're almost there."

Hearing her helicopter approach, the pups turned to see her, the Flounder and Ryder on his jet-ski coming at top speed toward them. Soon, they were back on the boat thanks to Skye's harness and shook themselves to get rid of the water. They then told the others what happened.

"You worried us quite a bit out there," Ryder said as he hugged Chase, "but I'm glad none of you were hurt."

"Do you want us to call Marshall, just to be sure" Everest asked.

"No, it's okay, really. Baby Wally never meant any harm," Chase said after he gave back the cookies to Captain Turbot, not sure if the man was going to eat them or not since they had been in sea water.

"Speaking of which, where did she go," Skye asked who had landed her helicopter on the boat.

"Went back to her parents, we think," Race answered as she scratched her ears. She added with a smile. "You'll have to wait next time to get a free underwater ride."

Skye and Everest were at first suprised to see Race jokes, but then happily chuckled.

"I still can't believe that little devil angel tricked Horatio and I. But mostly Horatio. I'm so sorry for what happened."

Captain Turbot shook his head, annoyed by his cousin words. "Anyway, thanks for elucidating the mystery and getting our last snack back. They aren't easy to make you know. I'll make sure to have a talk with Wally about his daughter. She isn't bad at all, but kids you know." Captain Turbot then saw the pups glare at him. "I mean…not all kids...I mean…sometimes…"

Ryder laughed. "It's okay Captain. Now, if you excuse us, we have another mission to attend to."

"Let us bring you back to Adventure Bay," François proposed. "We insist."

"Marvelous idea. I'll attach Ryder jet-ski to the Flounder and we can go," Captain Turbot said before running off.

A little mission that ended up having nothing to do with the main one. It was still fun to write and we see Race getting more comfortable with the Paw Patrol. But where is Jeremy? During this time, the Turbots are being the Turbots. Honestly, I like Captain Turbot, but François sometimes kinda annoys me with his attitude.

This is all I have to say for today.

Take care and until next time.
