There she was, standing by the Tyrannosaurus skeleton like before. Roseanne's brick red hair and dark skin made her shining blue eyes stand out to him; her round figure standing gracefully by the towering beast of what has passed. His stomach tied itself into knots when he saw her eyes meet his.
"Hello," she said, her soft voice bringing a sense of comfort. "Are you here for the tour?"
"T-tour? Of what, exactly?" He had no choice but to come nearer to her.
"The Museum, silly. Or are you just looking at the skeleton?"
Olly looked up at it, the beast in the midst of a thunderous roar that has been eternally silenced by the hands of time. "Well, I am curious about it."
"It used to be a carnivore, which means its diet was only meat. Their short arms can't do much, so they use their strong jaws to capture and kill their prey instead. They're my favorite dinosaur."
"I've never seen a beast like this before. It would have mauled me to death..."
"Don't think that way! Carnivores are helpful because they prevent certain species from over populating! Otherwise, we'd have too many of one animal and that'd throw the economy out of order."
Olly was stunned at her expanse of knowledge. "I had no idea. I'm...still pretty new to some things...Would you mind telling me more about the creatures here?"
Roseanne spoke with a delightful cheer, as Olly listened closely to her as she told him about wonderous creatures he wished he could-but was pleased that he didn't-meet. His focus turned to a man as he drew nearer to them, the same corrupt energy as before. It was Roseanne's current special one, and he didn't looked the least bit pleased that Olly was having a conversation with her. Olly had then realized the conversation had gone from dinosaurs to hobbies and such, he being too wrapped up in the subject before to notice he was beginning to like her more and more.
Roseanne noticed the blond man as well, and acknowledged him cheerily. "Olly, this is my boyfriend, Simon. Simon, this is Olly. He's really sweet, and he's the only person who was actually interested in the tour in a while! Isn't that great?"
Simon's white hoodie was ironic to his energy. Olly felt sick just being within two feet of that dark soul. But if Roseanne really loved him and was happy, he felt it would be worth to see her smile if he got to know Simon a bit more. He gently pressured him to answer his questions, getting no response.
"Maybe I should just leave..."
"That sounds like a great idea." Simon had finally spoke.
"What did I do to make you dislike me, Simon? We had only met a few minutes ago."
"You were flirting with my girlfriend!"
Olly's face turned a bright red and he felt heat spread throughout his entire body. "I-I...I wasn't! I was just talking with her, I swear! It was nothing more than friendly banter!"
"That's what the last guy said to me when he tried to hit on her." He snatched the king from the ground by the collar, pulling him so close that he spat on his face when speaking.
Olly wiped his face clean. "Look, Simon, I was just being-"
"I can see the way you were looking at her, b$%^&! I know you like her!"
Roseanne's eyes widened and she let out a gentle gasp.
The secret was out, so there was no point in keeping it hidden. "Okay, it's true. I do like her, a lot. But I wasn't trying to steal her from you. I can see that she cares for you a lot despite your mean attitude towards somebody just trying to have a friendly conversation with somebody I know is way too out of my league. So maybe you should change that attitude first, then maybe people would see how happy you two are together and leave her alone."
Simon's eye twitched. "So you think you're better than me?"
"At least I know how to control my unending anger."
Simon released his grip, Olly thudding to the ground.
Olly scrambled to his feet. "If you don't want me talking to her, fine; I'll leave you alone. But if you treat everyone this way, she'll leave you too." He started off, hoping that his leave will cause Simon to calm down.
Simon grabbed him by the collar and forced him to turn around. "What did you say about her?!"
"Roseanne will leave you if you keep up this beha-"
Simon let go of his collar and landed a punch straight to his face. Olly hit the ground hard, blood streaming from his face. He flinched away from Simon as Roseanne rushed over to confront him. His heart was pounding too loud to hear them, but Simon storming off had meant Roseanne had obviously won. Olly begun shaking lightly, Roseanne's worried voice piercing through the deafening sound of his heartbeat.
"That was a jerk move, I'm so sorry that happened. He ran out of chances, I really hoped I could change the way he was but..."
Olly wiped the blood from his face.
"Oh no, it looks like he hurt you pretty bad! Let me get some towels to stop the bleeding." She stood and held out her hand. "Need help? I can see you're shaking."
Olly jumped to his feet, backing away from Roseanne. She didn't know why he was so scared of blood, and he didn't want her to. He rushed out the doors, attempting to hurry back home so Izuku could help him instead. He stepped on his ankle wrong and fell face-first to the sidewalk. He heard Roseanne calling after him, so he forced himself back up and ducked into an alleyway. With a deep inhale, he clamped his hands around his ankle to numb the pain a bit. Roseanne continued ahead a bit, then returned. Olly licked his thumb and started cleaning the blood from his face before it could finish drying.
"Olly? Are you okay? I saw you fall. Why did you run? It's okay, you can talk to me." She kneeled to his eye level and placed a hand on his shoulder. "And if you don't want to, I'll leave you alone. Okay?"
"I almost died once." He couldn't believe what he was doing anymore than he could stop himself from doing it. "I'm scared of blood because of it. I-I almost accidentally killed myself."
"Oh, Olly. I didn't know you were suicidal. I'm so sorry."
"N-no, it's not like that. I pushed myself too far...Why am I even telling you this?"
"Well, whatever happened then, I'm sorry that it had. And I feel bad there's nothing I can do to help you."
Olly was in too much pain and couldn't hold his human-like form. He was forced into his small form, receiving a small gasp from Roseanne.
"Olly...you're so small."
He sighed. "The truth is, I don't like this form here; despite the fact that I actually look like this. It's just that everybody here looks cool with their fun hair colors and physical attributes that make them stand out, and I'm just paper. There's nothing special about me, I don't stand out like my classmates. The only way I can be noticed is if I look like...what I did before."
"But...I notice you."
Olly's gaze went up to her, tears forming in his eyes. He wasn't expecting that answer.
"So I...don't look boring compared to everybody else?"
She shook her head. "I mean, you're living paper! If you don't think that's special, I don't know what is. Because I think it's a pretty cool Quirk. You can give your enemies paper cuts!"
Olly chuckled. "Ow, my face hurts so much..."
"Oh." She scooped him into her arms. "He did punch you pretty hard."
Olly's face grew hot again.
"Did...you really mean what you said back there? That you liked me?"
Olly hesitantly nodded. "Y-yes. I-I...I feel like I'm going to throw up..."
"Is your ankle okay?"
"It still uh...I think I'm good now..."
She gently released him, he floating next to her. "You know, you're the first guy to tell me you actually liked me. All the others just asked me out, but you? I can tell you're different. Ever since you stood up to Simon for me. Maybe..." She brushed her hair behind her ear. "Maybe we could try...dating? I-I want to give you a chance. You're a really nice person, Olly. And you're adorable too." She placed a gentle kiss to his cheek.
Olly's face turned red. "Oh...Zoowee mama!"
"I'm sorry! That was probably too much too soon!"
"Mamma mia..."
"Are...you okay?"
He fainted.
"Aah!"
He woke to her splashing water on his face. He shook the water off and stood.
"Roseanne, you should be more careful! Did you forget I was paper already?"
"Maybe a little...I thought you would have some sort of resistance to water, since being paper is your Quirk and all."
"No."
"Sorry, you're not soggy, are you?"
He shook his head and wringed out his crown. "Roseanne, I should probably tell you something. First off, it takes me sixteen years to age once. But if you take it in a yearly sense, I age as normal, but my race does not. Secondly, I'm only twelve. I'm too young to date by my father's standards."
"I am so, so sorry. I didn't know." She rubbed the bridge of her nose.
"It's alright. I shouldn't have been so shy as to not mention it..."
"Well, I can wait a few years."
Olly peeked from behind his hands. "But, by the time I'm sixteen, you'd be in your thirties or something."
"Well, you still age, right? You can have a birthday every year, right? Sure, it might not officially count, but I think it should. You did say so yourself."
"I mean, Dimentio did do that. He told me his age in his world is thirty-five, but on Earth, it rounds up to about a thousand."
"A thousand?!"
"His race ages faster than here. I think being in the Underwhere might have slowed his aging a bit, since he was trapped there for sixteen years..."
"Olly, this is starting to hurt my head. How about we just stay friends for now and see where that takes us. Okay?"
He nodded. "And speaking of which...I should probably head home. Izuku's mother will be worried if anyone's missing for dinner."
"Have a good day."
Olly smiled. "You too, Roseanne."
