"Olly...Wake up!"
Olly opened his eyes and sat up. Mani was leaning over him, smiling, with an arm outstretched.
"Come on! We'll be late!"
He accepted her hand and she helped him to his feet. She began leading him along.
"Where are you taking me? I-I didn't die, did I?"
"No, you're not dead. Otherwise, Sandi would greet you. This is simply a dream."
The area she led him to was a floor made of water, which perfectly reflected the slightly cloudy sky above.
Olly took his hand from her. "But then why are you here? I've never even seen much of you! Shouldn't you be over pestering Livi, or something?"
"She can't receive a visit from me until she passes, like you with Sandi. But you and I can finally meet. And I wanted to tell you something."
"What's the issue, Mani?"
"Don't use Sandi's power ever again if you want to keep your sister safe."
"What? But the first time-"
"Those wings were her power, sure, but so is Fold of Life! She made it so Origami Folk could control it, remember? I can give you a temporary form so you wouldn't have to refold your body, but it could take some getting used to. You'll be turned human-"
"No."
Fear struck her face. "What? No? How could you deny my offer?"
"Because I can't protect her if I can't use Fold of Life. I was born with this burden, so I will carry it with pride and learn how to control it. I'm really sorry, Mani, but this is what's best for both of us. Olivia died because I couldn't protect her. If it weren't for Sandi's abilities, she would not be breathing right now."
The sky had begun melting into a deep purple.
"Olly, you have no idea what you're walking into."
"If it's an issue, I can deal with it! I am supposed to be the Origami King! If I can't deal with my own family's issues, how am I supposed to help those in my Kingdom? You need to trust me, Mani."
"Huh. Odd."
The sky turned black.
"Because...I thought I trusted Sandi too. But then she killed me."
"She didn't mean to. She tried her hardest to revive you, Mani. She knew she couldn't but she tried anyways. You should give her credit for that at least."
"Don't say I didn't warn you, King Olly." She vanished.
"Poor Mani."
His arms began to glow in the pattern of the bands that appeared when he had used Sandi's magic during the battle with the Chaos Heart Entity. It shot pain through his entire body. He screamed, falling to his knees.
"Come on, Olly! Wake up, wake up! Wake...UP!"
He sat up suddenly, inside of his dark bedroom. He was physically drained, and also a bit thirsty. He climbed out of bed and went to the bathroom to wake himself up a bit. His drowsiness was making his vision blur. Dimentio was asleep with his blankets tossed off of him, implying he got too warm during the night.
He used his arm to hold himself up by resting it on the wall. He staggered his way to the bathroom and felt around for the lightswitch. He found it and turned on the light. He nearly jumped at the thing staring back at him in the mirror.
It was covered in shaggy, pale purple fur, two pairs of horns on its head. Its arms were thick and long, the fur gradually getting darker as it got closer to its hands. There was also a long, almost reptilian-like, tail, also covered in fur; and a large pair of furless wings, a single claw at the folded bend of them. The eyes were glowing purple, which Olly found strange.
What was stranger, however, was the fact it had the same hairstyle as him. It was a lot longer though, and ripped in a few points with loose strands here-and-there. It also had the same shirt as him, a white, high-collared undershirt with a sleeveless, purple button-down overshirt.
He backed away a bit, knocking over the towel rack behind him. He flinched. The creature in the mirror couldn't be him, right? It was covered in a lot of blood.
But it was following his movements.
He flinched again when footfalls started coming his way. The towel rack falling must have woken somebody up.
"Olly? Is that you?" The tired voice belonged to Izuku.
"I...Izu...Izuku...Midori...Midoriya..."
"Olly? What are you doing up? It's like three in the morning and we have school tomo-" His talking was interrupted with a blood-curdling scream. He froze. "Olly? Is that you? What happened? You're dragging blood all over the house."
He couldn't think clearly, so he tried to see if Izuku could help explain what had happened. "Iz...Izuku..." He coughed blood onto Izuku's head.
"Eugh!" He backed away. "Olly, what happened? Can you talk? Can you hear me? What's going on?"
His wings prevented him from leaving the doorway right away. He felt like Izuku could help but he was too scared to help him. "Izuku...Izuku...Izu...ku..." He reached for him.
Izuku flinched away from his hand.
"Izuku...I want...I want to...to..." He coughed out blood again.
"Olly, I think this form is killing you. You should change back. D-do you know how to?"
He tapped Izuku's arm with his clawed fingers. "Izuku...Izuku...!" He tried to smile to calm Izuku down.
"Olly is that...is that even you in there?"
He forced his way out of the doorway. "Izuku...Izuku..." Izuku's name was the best he could muster, he just hoped Izuku understood what he wanted. "Izuku...!"
He looked down when his foot clacked against the hardwood floor. His legs were goat-like, also covered in fur.
"Monster...I..."
"Olly, you completely ripped your paper apart. Why do you keep saying my name? Do you want me to help you?"
"Y...yes...Izuku...Izu...ku..."
"I don't know how to help you. I'm sorry."
Olly grew upset. "Lies...! Izuku...Izuku can...help me..." He coughed blood again.
"Olly, you need to stop. You're hurting yourself. The best I can do is clean the blood and bandage the wounds but-"
Olly collapsed.
"Olly?!"
Izuku's voice faded away, and he saw Mani over him once again, disappointed.
"What did I tell you, King Olly?"
"That beast..."
Mani nodded. "That's Sandi's power. Yours looks different than hers', however..."
"So I'm cursed. That's just great. I could barely speak, barely think."
"And I warned you. That thing will just keep getting worse. You'll attack people."
"That thing, it's me. I can control it, I know it. If can control Fold of Life-"
"You can't control it. It's raw power. You cannot control the raw power of creation, King Olly."
"But I can, and I have before!"
"No, you cannot! So promise me that you will give up this curse and protect your sister! You wouldn't even be here if it weren't for your Fold of Life curse! She never would have been in danger if it weren't for Fold of Life!"
"I'm starting to see why Sandi didn't like you."
Mani grew silent for a minute. "So that's what you tell me? After I am trying so hard to protect you? Fine. Enjoy your curse. But if Olivia dies again, it's not my fault. It'll be yours."
"An 'if' is good enough of a chance for me. I'll see you on the other side, Mani. And Sandi too."
She vanished, and he woke up. He nearly slapped Izuku, as he had been bandaging his arm and startled him.
"Aah!" Izuku held up his hands. "I'm just helping your arm! Nothing wrong here!"
"Oh. Izuku. It's morning already?"
Izuku nodded and resumed bandaging Olly's arm.
"Aah! Ow! Why is my arm in so much pain?"
"Do you not remember anything from last night?"
"I remember the beast...but why is my arm in pain? I didn't do anything to injure my arm, did I?" He noticed the bandages on Izuku's arm and cheek. "Wh-what happened? Did I do that?"
"You'd passed out. I went to help you when you went berserk and attacked me. You tried to bite my arm off. Dimentio actually had to help me. That's why I kind of freaked out when you almost slapped me."
"Wait, Dimentio helped you?"
"Is that strange...?" Dimentio still had a large amount of his mask missing, but wasn't roughed up at all besides it.
"You look fine."
"You are not the only one with an ability to heal...I decided to learn how to do it after our grand battle..."
"Huh. Izu, what do you think is going on? Before the whole 'beast' episode, I had a dream where I spoke to Mani...She warned me not to use Sandi's pawer again. I went into incredible pain and woke up as that...thing."
"Sounds like Mani is scared of your little goat form..."
"I was wondering about that. Why was it goat-like? That was weird. And, Mani mentioned Sandi also had a form like that, but hers was different. Do you think it changes per each person with the ability? If it tore all of my paper, how am I even alive? I have too many questions and no way to answer them..."
"Actually, we do have a way. Not for answers, but for control of it, maybe." Izuku rose from his kneeling position.
"Really? How so?"
Olive tapped his trombone case. "Alright, Olly. I haven't gotten full control of the Chaos Heart Entity yet-and trust me, it still wants to kill everybody-but I feel like I have done it well enough when Dimentio ticked me off that one time, that I can try to help you!"
"This is a horrible idea..." Olly sighed.
"Come on," Izuku said. "At least try to give him a chance!"
"Why did you not ask me...?" Dimentio whined. "I created Super Dimentio...That thing was a creature similar to your cursed being..."
Olive opened the case and pulled out his trombone. "Lesson one," he played a solid G note, "don't trust Dimentio to help you with controlling that thing. He almost got himself flattened when he tried to 'help' me."
Dimentio looked irritated.
"The best way to go about this is to find a way for you to tap into it yourself. Once you can do that, it's only a matter of time before you can control it! Take, for example, your Giga form. Before, you could enter it, but you had no control over it. Now look at you! Using the thousand-fold arms with no problem!"
Olly blushed. "It's nothing really...That was really easy to use..."
"There's another thing! It gets easier as you get better at it. Your Fold of Life evolved into Telekinesis here, so I get why all this new power stuff is confusing to you."
Dimentio shoved him aside. "Enough of him...He is taking far too long to get to the point...You want to control this now, do you not?"
Olly nodded. "But I was actually interested in Olive's lessons..."
"Well, if you want to do this now...you have to do what I say...It worked with Olive, and it can work with you too...You would be a little harder to manage because you have lightened up a bit from when you first came here but..."
"Nope! I told you, don't let Dimentio trick you into one of his stupid plans! He really likes to get on people's nerves."
"Is that not what I am here for...?"
Olive rolled his eyes.
"Getting on your nerves, am I...?"
Olive pushed him away with the trombone. "Anyways, as I was saying...You should first try to figure out how you first turned into your...beast form? Can I call it Beast Olly?"
"Uh...sure?" Olly said. "I don't really care."
"Once you do that, try and see if you can willingly turn into it. Although...it's extremely likely to be painful, so I wouldn't say you do it now. You should wait until you've finished healing first, just to be on the safe side. Have you really researched everything about Mani and Sandi? What about Fold of Life?"
Olly nodded. "King Shroomses burned all of the Origami Folk records, except for one. That one was actually smuggled by Kaaptan Teeowed and abandoned on the surface. Sandi found it and kept it. My father actually still has it in his house. I already read it cover-to-cover three times though...There's nothing in that book I don't know. If only there was more information."
Olive tapped his foot on the ground. "That's a problem, 'cause I hardly know anything about the Chaos Heart, much less the Chaos Heart Entity, and it refuses to show itself again. I guess that's where both of us are stuck, huh? Sorry, Olly! I really hoped this would go on a lot longer..."
"Sandi's power...Do you think it could be the reason I can do this?" Olly summoned a small ball of purple fire in the palm of his hand. "She could use Dark Magic. She was named the Sage of Dark Magics. Elemental control that doesn't belong to the Vellumentals is a type of corrupted Magic..."
"So...your little ancestor was a Black Magic user as well..." Dimentio examined the fire. "Those are incredibly rare, you know..."
"It doesn't seem so rare," Olive said. "After all, half of the Quirks here would technically be qualified as Black Magic in our world." He replaced his trombone back in its case.
"I told you before...I can help..."
"Sorry Dimentio, but you still need to earn my trust back. Just because I let you off the hook that one time in New Donk City, doesn't mean I fully trust you," Olly explained.
"But...I am the one person who knows the most about Black Magic..." He also summoned a fire in his hand. "And I will not do anything crazy this time...Just to keep my deal with Izuku..."
"You?" Olive asked. "Keep a deal? And when have you ever done that?"
"Like my friend, I keep my end of the bargain..." He crushed the fire, dousing it. "And I only undid one, once...And that one was on Bleck..."
"Your friend is Bill Cipher," Olive said with an eye roll.
"He is an awful pen-pal...He is terrible at responding back...I may have to replace his pen-pal duties with Marx...At least he answers, and he has no hands..."
"Didn't he used to have arms?"
"They were chopped off...He refuses to tell me why though..."
Olive looked horrified. "You make the worst friends."
"I become friends with people who understand me, that is all...I just happen to draw in terrible people..."
"I'm your friend," Izuku finally said.
"Yes you are, Izuku...You are actually my first good friend..." He smiled, sincerely.
