All Might placed the paper back on the desk. "So...You actually want to go here? I'd have to run this by the Principal, but I think I can allow it."
Olive realized he had been holding his breath, and exhaled sharply. "Of course, I will be leaving when the twins do, but you really mean I can actually learn at this school for now?"
All Might nodded. "Your reason of heroism is a good reason to go here. I'm sure the Principal will be fine with it too. You can go to Class 1-A, there's a kid named Izuku Midoriya who can help you through things. Plus, your friend can go with you. She wishes to redeem herself, so this'll be a great, easy start."
Olive stopped on a page about memory charms. He walked over to Olly, peeking at the King over his large stack of books.
"Olly, I think I found it."
He jumped, then pushed his reading glasses back up his face. "Lower your voice, Olive. We're in a Library, not the streets. Let me see."
He passed Olly the book through the pile and he examined it. He signaled for Olive to come over. He did and sat down next to him.
"See this one? This one taps into your past memories and lets you talk to the subject directly. It only works in their sleep though. Either way, we're going to have to try it out on someone first before using it on the Chaos Heart Entity. It might not even work at all."
"Why don't we try it on you?"
"Because I'm not supposed to have Sandi's memories, Olive. If I try to figure out any more with magic, I can't imagine what would happen."
"Who should we do? Midoriya? He could find out about his dad."
"That's not a good idea either, no matter how sweet the action. Imagine, if his dad vanishing pushed him into being a hero, finding out about him has the slight-but still possible-outcome of making him into a villain. Remember, I felt my father abandoned me, so I became evil from it."
"What about Mimi?"
"Olive, you need to learn how to read people..."
"What's wrong?"
"She's hiding things, sure, but digging through that could result badly. She's...I'm putting this lightly here, like Dimentio. She's mentally disturbed. If she wishes to keep secrets, we should respect her privacy and allow her to."
"Then what about Dimentio?"
"Olive-"
"Let me talk."
"Alright, fine. Why Dimentio?"
"Think about it, if it actually works on him, it's extremely likely to work on the Chaos Heart Entity! He's the second strongest Dark Magic user I know, the Chaos Heart Entity being first. Plus, he loves learning new magic stuff, so he could easily be tricked into thinking this'll teach him something. And..."
"Olive, those reasons are good, but why do you think tricking him will work-"
"You can find out about his past."
"Olive! I know I want to know, but digging through someone's memories is rude! Plus, I'd need their consent anyways! Why would anyone agree to that?"
"You're going to do memory charms?" Someone nearby asked. "Could you do it on me? I have to remember stuff for my homework but I can't remember a thing. I paid attention in class, I swear!"
Olive pointed a hand at them.
Olly sighed. "Fine. We'll ask Dimentio during lunch tomorrow. And if he agrees, we'll do the spell that night. This should be relatively easy to cast, I just need a few items first. Where in the Underwhere do I get a Candle of Souls? What even is that?"
"You uh...you keep working at that, buddy." Olive stood. "And I'll see you at lunch tomorrow."
"Yeah, yeah...I'll be seeing you."
Olive waited for Olly near the back of the Cafeteria. Olly came over, seeming a little restless.
"Is something wrong?"
"Olive, this seems like Witchcraft. A Candle of Souls? Real Dark Magic doesn't require items to use!"
"Then don't use the stuff?"
"Plus, the candle smelt like burnt feet and I can't get the smell out of my nose. Not that I have one but..."
"I told Dimentio to meet us here. Now where is he?"
Dimentio suddenly appeared next to them.
Olive screamed. "You're going to give me a heart attack!"
"False...You do not have a heart...Not anymore since the Chaos Heart was taken from you...But I understand you meant that as a saying rather than a truthful statement..." His gaze went to Olly. "What is your issue?"
"We want your help with something."
"Sure."
"Olly wants to try a new spell, and we want you to be the first trial! If anyone can survive a failed spell, I know it's you!"
"Fine...I will help with your spell...When will it be done?"
"Tonight, at Iida's house. Midoriya will be too suspicious. Iida sleeps pretty heavily, so he shouldn't hear anything."
"And what is with your strange silence, Olly?"
Olly fiddled with his bangs. "Olive, the spell won't work without them...What do I do?"
"That smell...Why do you have a Candle of Souls on you?"
Olly sniffed his wrist. "It stained the bag too? And now my wrist smells like it. Eugh, now I need to take a shower..."
"Are you doing a Ghost-Speaking spell? That one is pretty difficult to master..."
Olly sighed and told him about the Memory Charm.
"I see. Why did you not say so? Now I am even more with this plan than I was before!"
"Huh?"
"It surely will help with our investigation on my...childhood. And I know why you are worried...The candle simply helps keep, shall I say, bad spirits, from entering during the spell and taking over the person's body. It is nothing bad. I have used one before. You have no reason to fear it."
"That's...comforting, actually. Thanks. But, what's with the smell?"
"The bad spirits hate the smell...along with living people. It also works as a way to keep people from walking in on you. It is basically a disgusting incense candle..."
"Okay. Tonight, and no later. I hid it in Izu's room, so he might think there's a dying rat in his walls, which would not be good."
"That explains why you were looking at a website about black markets that sold 'magic candles' yesterday..."
"And what about this?" Olly held up a black crystal on a necklace.
"That one is actually cursed...You might want to get rid of that one...You can make the spell work without the extra things...But you at least need to keep the Candle of Souls..."
"Aah!" He dropped it.
