Chapter Summary: While Shane gets his training and sword from Connor, Vida gets her sword and training from Amanda, and it's implied that Richie might have feelings for the former pink ranger and vice versa.
Between Training and Love
Connor faced Shane as the two began their training. The former red ranger prepared himself for anything and everything.
Connor handed him a sword, "This is your sword."
Shane picked up the sword as Connor picked up his own sword, "My weapon. Something I must rely on, right?"
"That's correct," the Highlander nodded, "this is the Bastard sword. I think this sword will be compatible for you."
Shane examined his sword, long blade and long handle and found comfort knowing that his teacher had confidence in him on the first day, which was more than he could say for Sensei, not that he'd ever tell him or Cam that, if he ever saw them again.
"Are you ready to begin?" Connor asked as he prepared his sword.
"Yes, teacher," Shane answered, preparing his sword, "I am ready."
"Let's begin," Connor told his new student.
The two swords collided together. Shane was strong against his teacher/opponent. Connor shown the former red ranger/immortal ways to handle the sword and was giving him tips on how to handle the sword.
"Put your sword in your right hand," Connor instructed, "just behind the guard."
The former red ranger turned immortal did as he was told.
"Good, now feel the rhythm of the blade. Use your feet, through your legs, put your left hand on the blade to give you power and control."
Shane managed to follow the instructions and do quite well.
"Good," Connor nodded, "Your strength is in the blade, not in the arms."
Shane managed to do well as he was training with the Highlander. He could tell that this was going to be a quite interesting take on his new destiny.

Vida faced Amanda as the two started their training. The former pink ranger was mentally preparing herself for anything and everything.
Amanda handed Vida her weapon: a small sword combined with a fan, "This would be your weapon."
"Neat," Vida smiled, accepting her weapon.
"Ready for training?"
"You got it."
With that, Amanda and Vida began their training. Both were strong and Vida was impressive for her first time using her weapon.
"Pretty good," Amanda smiled, "if the fans don't work, use the blade, and if the blade doesn't work, use the fans."
Vida used her sword at one point, and then at another point, she used her fans. This was fun, but she knew that being an immortal wasn't all fun and games, so she knew she had to take this seriously.
"You're doing quite well," Amanda stated, "I can tell you'll be able to fight as well as a man."

Richie looked on, watching the two women train. He was eyeing at the younger immortal in particular. He found himself liking this newcomer. It wouldn't be the first time he's found himself in a relationship with another woman, even before he became immortal. Richie wasn't exactly getting his hopes up this time, for all he knew, Vida might not have the same feelings for him. Or did she?
"You okay?" Duncan asked, pulling his student from his thoughts.
"Oh, yeah," Richie nodded, "I'm fine. Just thinking...and watching."
"Oh, is that so?"
"Vida's a great fighter from the looks of this."
"And Amanda's a great teacher."
Things got silent for a little bit as the guys watched the women train.
"Hold up," Duncan glanced back at Richie, "I recognize that look."
"What?!" Richie asked, acting confused, "What are you talking about?"
"You're smitten with the new girl, aren't you?"
"I like her," Richie was quick to answer, "not love, but like. She seems really cool."
"Why should I believe you?" Duncan was quick to ask.
Richie sighed, knowing it would be pointless to deny his feelings at this point, "Okay, yeah. I love her like that, but she might not feel the same way, which is why I'm not getting my hopes up this time around."
"Considering your short lived relationship with Marina Lemartin," Duncan stated.
"My relationship with Marina was short lived," Richie interjected, "but we decided to be just friends."
"Right, I forgot."
"Let's watch these two train more."
"Good idea."
With that, Richie and Duncan continued watching Amanda train Vida.

"That will be enough for today," Amanda declared.
Vida sighed as training was complete. She smiled proudly as Amanda was proud of how she was doing.
"Well done," Amanda complimented her student, "You're pretty strong."
"Thanks," Vida nodded, accepting the compliment.
She couldn't help but to notice Richie as he was sitting next to Duncan.
Great, Vida thought with a chuckle, first week as an immortal, and I am already crushing on somebody. Damn, he probably doesn't feel the same way. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
"Are you okay?" Amanda asked.
"Just fine," Vida answered.
"Really? I recognize that look."
The former pink ranger turned immortal didn't realize she was having any kind of look, "What do you mean?"
"You have a crush on Richie Ryan," Amanda stated in a whisper tone to where only she could hear.
"What are you talking about?" Vida asked, "I like him but it's not love."
"Uh huh," the teacher asked the student, "I wouldn't believe Richie when he denies any crushes he might have on someone, same with MacLeod. Why should I believe you?"
"Okay," Vida sighed, admitting defeat, "you win. I have a bit of a crush, which is surprising coming from me because...well..."
"You don't usually have crushes?" Amanda glanced at her student.
"Not like what my sister would have," Vida crossed her arms.
"You guys were great," Duncan said as he arrived at the area with Richie in tow. The former pink ranger glanced at the younger immortal with a grin while he exchanged a small smile himself.
"There's not much we need to know here," Duncan asked seeing Richie and Vida interact, "do we?"
"Not really," Amanda shook her head.
