The morning after, Jake and the Steins were watching TV. Then, after the program was over, Viktor turned it off and changed the subject.
"Welp, I think we need to go the store. We need milk, cereal, snacks, and anything else anyone wants to get." Viktor said.
"Have fun." Jake said bleakly.
"You don't wanna come with us?" Frankie asked.
"No, I don't feel like going anywhere." Jake responded.
"Okay. Do you need anything while we're at the store?" Viveka asked.
"Can you get me a candy bar, please? They always cheer me up while I'm feeling down." Jake said.
"You got it, buddy!" Viktor said with a smile.
At that moment, the Steins told Jake they would be back and left, leaving him by himself. He leaned back and rested his hand on his cheek, staring off into space.
All of a sudden, there was a ring of the doorbell. Curious as to who it was, Jake got up and looked through the peephole, then answered the door; Clawd, Deuce, Manny, and Slo Mo were there.
"Hey, guys. What are you doing here?" Jake asked.
"We just wanted to see how you were doing." Clawd replied.
"Oh, that's really nice of you. I appreciate that." Jake said, smiling lightly.
"Can we come in?" Manny asked.
"Sure!" Jake said welcomingly.
The 4 guys entered the house as Jake shut the door behind them.
"Where's Frankie and her parents?" Deuce asked.
"Going to the store since we're out of milk and stuff. They're also getting me a candy bar." Jake responded.
Slo Mo spoke zombie to say the Steins getting a candy bar for Jake was nice of them.
"Yes, it is, Slo Mo." Jake agreed.
Clawd changed the subject. "Hey, Jake, do you wanna take a walk with us while we talk to you about something?"
"I wouldn't mind going for a walk." Jake said straightforwardly.
Clawd, Deuce, Manny, and Slo Mo nodded as them and Jake headed out the door; they then began walking down the sidewalk of the neighborhood.
"What do you guys need to talk to me about?" Jake asked.
"Gil called us yesterday and asked us a really weird question." Manny said.
"What'd he ask you?" Jake asked, curious.
"Basically, it was something along the lines of him wanting to know if our ghouls and best bros working together in their class on a regular basis would make us feel jealous, like you and Lagoona are doing." Clawd said.
Jake made a face. "Really?"
"Yeah, it was bizarre. I don't know why Gil would think we'd be jealous about our bros and girlfriends working together." Deuce said.
"I'll tell you why, because he's jealous of me and Lagoona working together. He admitted it yesterday while we were out eating at The Ghoulest Diner." Jake said.
The mansters exchanged shocked glances with each other, not knowing Gil had it in him to admit his jealousy.
"Wow! I didn't think he'd actually come out and say it right then and there!" Manny exclaimed.
Slo Mo grunted with agreeance.
"I haven't talked to him since yesterday and honestly, I don't want to." Jake said.
"Is he being a jerk to you?" Clawd asked.
"Mm-hmm, Lagoona, too. He's mad at us for no reason! We're just friends, that's nothing to be jealous of, right?" Jake asked desperately.
"Totally, bro! Gil's just overreacting. Lagoona would never outright leave him for someone else and you'd never steal anyone's ghoul, that's not in your nature." Deuce replied.
"If anything, Gil should be mad at Mr. Where 'cause he's the who's putting you and Lagoona together in the first place." Manny added.
"That's what I told him! But he wouldn't listen." Jake mused.
"If he's really this upset about it, then maybe one of you should ask Mr. Where to stop partnering you guys. If you want to, that is. I'm not saying you have to, I'm just making a suggestion." Clawd said.
Jake thought about that for a second. On one hand, it would stop Gil from being jealous, but on the other, he loved working with Lagoona and was having so much fun in class. It was a double-edged sword, really.
"You know, that's not a bad idea, Clawd. It'd keep Gil from getting any more jealous and prevent him from escalating the situation any further, but, um, I love working with Lagoona. I feel like her and I have a thing going. Not a romantic thing, a platonic thing, you know what I'm sayin'?" Jake asked.
"We understand. It's up to you and Lagoona, Jake. Do whatever you think is the right choice." Deuce told him.
"Thanks, man." Jake said with a smile. "I care about Lagoona but I'm not interested in her romantically."
"Who do you like, if you don't mind us asking?" Manny asked.
"Robecca and Rochelle." Jake responded.
Clawd, Deuce, Manny, and Slo Mo nodded while smirking playfully.
"Nice, dude! Are you gonna tell them?" Clawd asked.
"Eh, maybe. Rochelle has a boyfriend, at least so I was told." Jake said.
"Yep, she does. His name's Garrot DuRoque and he lives in Scaris." Deuce said.
"He's pretty cool, and the perfect guy for Rochelle. They were made for each other." Clawd added.
"That's great, honestly! I'm happy she has someone to make her happy, and same goes for you guys, too." Jake said, grinning.
The mansters were very appreciative of that compliment.
"Jake, if you tell Robecca you like her and she feels the same way about you, you should ask her out." Manny told him.
Slo Mo spoke zombie, agreeing.
"I don't know. I know in my heart I want a girlfriend someday, but I'm just not ready right now." Jake said.
"Do you think it's a commitment thing or are you feeling like it's too much pressure?" Deuce asked.
"To tell you the truth, it's a number of different things, mainly I'm afraid I would be a crappy boyfriend." Jake replied.
"Come on, bro, you'd be an amazing boyfriend! You're super nice, you're charming, you're understanding, and you're good-looking; All the qualities a girl could love." Clawd said with a smile.
Jake raised an eyebrow. "You think I'm good-looking?"
"Yeah. You don't think so?" Manny asked.
"Kids from my elementary and middle school always told me I was ugly." Jake said.
"That's just them being mean, Jake. You're a very handsome guy." Deuce reassured.
"Well, thank you! That means a lot." Jake said, happily smiling.
Slo Mo groaned to say, "No prob!"
"You're also very forgiving, I mean, you were able to forgive Toralei for attacking you so quickly in a way that we could never." Clawd added.
"True." Jake said. He then switched the topic back to the him, Gil and Lagoona situation. "Have you guys, uh, talked to Gil lately?"
"Not since Friday." Manny said.
"What about Lagoona?" Jake asked.
"Same thing, although we've been wondering how she's doing. I know you said Gil was mad at her, too." Deuce said.
"Yeah. I can't imagine how guilty she's been feeling about this whole thing." Jake said with a sigh.
"It isn't her fault, Jake, or yours. Gil's just blowing this whole thing out of proportion." Clawd said.
Jake nodded. "You're right. Hopefully things will play out okay tomorrow."
"And if they don't, you always have us to talk to." Manny reassured.
"We're here for you, man." Deuce added.
Slo Mo spoke zombie in agreement.
"Thanks, dudes. So, uh, do you wanna go back to the house now?" Jake asked.
"Yeah, we can hang for a bit!" Clawd said excitedly.
At that moment, the guys turned around and went back to the Stein house; once they entered, Jake was eager to show his friends his room.
"Let me show y'all my room."
Jake led Clawd, Deuce, Manny, and Slo Mo down the hallway and to his room where he turned on the light, in which they were impressed by.
"Pretty cool, Jake!" Manny told him with a smile.
"Thanks! I love how futuristic it looks, plus my bed is super comfy and everything." Jake said.
"That's great. How come you don't have a TV?" Deuce asked.
"I don't know, I guess since there's already one in the living room, I don't need one. Although, I would like to have one eventually. Maybe I'll ask for one for my birthday or something." Jake responded.
Slo Mo spoke zombie and pointed to the Monster Wars: Episode VII poster on the wall.
"Is that a Monster Wars: Episode VII limited edition poster?" Clawd asked.
"Yep!" Jake said happily.
"Where'd you get it?" Manny asked.
"I got it at Scare-Mart a few weeks ago. The price wasn't bad, it only cost, like, thirty bucks. I used one of Cleo's credit cards to pay for it." Jake said.
"Those things really come in handy. Man, I would kill for one of these posters! They always look so cool and the artwork is just stone cold." Deuce said, swooning.
"I think they're still selling 'em at Scare-Mart. If you get the chance, pick one up." Jake suggested.
"Maybe we will." Clawd said.
After the room tour, the guys went back to the living room and crashed on the couch. Then, the sound of the door opening could be heard; it was Frankie coming in carrying a bag of groceries.
"Oh, hi, Clawd, Manny, Slo Mo, Deuce!" Frankie greeted, a little surprised to see them.
"Hey, Frankie!" Clawd, Deuce, Manny, and Slo Mo greeted back jovially.
"I didn't know you guys were here." Frankie said with a giggle.
"We kinda just showed up, no notice." Manny said.
"I can see that. Jake, here's your candy bar." Frankie told him. She reached into the bag and tossed him said candy bar.
Jake caught the candy bar and unwrapped it. "Thanks a lot!" He took a bite, then said, "Mmmm, so good!"
Slo Mo spoke zombie, asking Jake what kind of candy bar he was eating.
"Chocolate with mini eyeballs. Funnily enough, I don't mind the taste of the eyeballs this time. They taste way better here than they do on pizza." Jake replied.
Frankie chuckled endearingly. "My parents'll be in a minute, they just, uh, have a couple more groceries to bring in."
"Do they need help?" Deuce asked.
"Um, actually, they wouldn't mind some help, yeah!" Frankie said.
With that being said, Frankie and the guys stepped outside to help her parents bring in the rest of the groceries.
"Yo, what's up, Mr. and Mrs. Stein? How's it going?" Deuce greeted casually.
"Deuce! Good to see you! And Clawd, Slo Mo, Manny, you're here, too!" Viktor said happily.
"We just thought we'd help you with your groceries." Clawd said, grinning.
"That's very nice of you, boys! We appreciate it." Viveka said, thankful.
Everyone grabbed bags out of the trunk of the SUV and brought them inside the house; after that, Clawd, Deuce, Manny, and Slo Mo stuck around for a little while until they left, with Jake, Frankie, Viktor, and Viveka telling them bye as they did.
"Hey, Frankie, Jake, we're glad we get to see your friends every once and a while." Viktor said.
"Yeah, it's always so nice to see them." Viveka added.
"Well, I mean, they are the bestest friends anyone could ever have, right, Jake?" Frankie asked.
"For sure! By the way, thanks again for buying me a candy bar." Jake said.
"You're welcome, son." Viktor said welcomingly.
Shortly after, the 4 sat on the couch and turned on the TV to watch The House with 1,000 Monsters.
