Come home to me Chapter 3
Setting things straight
Densi's apartment
Marty trembles as he gets his keys out of his pocket. He unlocks the door and steps back, allowing Kensi to enter first. She does, and he follows. She stops in the middle of the LR; she turns around, opens her arms and they embrace tightly.
"It's great to have you at home, where you belong."
"Marty, I –
"Kens, don't. You've apologized. I've forgiven you. Let's leave it alone, and move forward. Ok?"
"But –
"No buts, none! The only thing we must unscramble is the divorce. We need to see if it is actually legal. If so, we need to reverse it. Assuming you still want to be married to me."
"Marty! Of course, I do!" She clasps her hands in the back of his neck and kisses him fiercely.
"I thought so, let's talk to Hetty tomorrow. Ok?"
"Yes. What about Lana and Clark? Can we get together with them before they go back to Metropolis?"
"Let's call and see."
MALIBU BEACH 06:30
Densi, Neric & Clana meet for breakfast on the beach. They have coffee, tea, bagels & breakfast burritos. Clana don't have classes until the afternoon, so they have some time to relax with their friends.
"I brought my extra surfboard, Clark; you game for a few waves?" Marty grins.
"Naw, I don't want to mess up my coiffure. I've got class with a stuffy professor. I can't ruffle any feathers."
Laughs fill the air!
"Is he serious, Lana?" Nell questions.
"I'm afraid he is. She is a real buzzard!"
More mirth!
"OK, I've got a question." Clark starts a more serious discussion. "Did you really forget those GPS devices we supplied you with?" He looks at Marty.
Marty looks down, sheepish. "Yes, I'm afraid I did. I hate to admit it."
"I did too," Kensi also admits. "Until I saw it among my captors' things. And then, boy was I glad."
"Is there anything Lana and I can do to keep you aware of what we can do for you, our closest circle of friends?"
"I can't think of anything," Eric says.
"I can't either," Nell adds. "We are so grateful to know that you two consider us in that way. I know I am very grateful to be on that list. Thank you so much!"
Everyone nods in agreement.
"Well, Clark and I are grateful also, to have such a group of loyal and trustworthy friends. People that we know we can call on, who will respond to virtually any situation in a helpful way. We thank you!" Clark nods and smiles.
Lana adda, "And friends with whom we can be totally ourselves, no filtering of speech, no topics off limits. It is so freeing, thank you!"
"We better get going, I do want to touch base with Hetty. Then the CK express is off. We will keep in touch, promise!" Clark adds. He and Lana walk behind a sand dune, the group hears a woosh! They smile to one another. Such great friends.
NCIS-OSP
Clana walks into the mission. Hetty is at her desk, talking on the phone. She sees them and motions for them to come and take a seat. She finishes her call quickly and turns to them. "What can I do for you two? You are headed back, aren't you?"
"Yes, as soon as we finish up here. We just want to thank you for all the support you give us," Lana says.
"Well, thanks are a two-way street, usually. You were extremely helpful on this case. I'm sure Mr. & Mrs. Deeks have already expressed their thanks. I will add mine on behalf of the entire agency. I would like to inquire about one thing; the GPS device that Kensi turned on. Are those available, say to my agents, generally?"
"I don't know," Clark answered. "I designed them in conjunction with the Justice League. The League manufactures them, and they are available to all Lague members. Lana and I are members, so we applied on behalf of our close circle of friends; she and I are the designated monitors for our group. I'll say this; when we got the message that a device had been activated, it crossed my mind that it would be nice if you or your Ops center would be notified also. Or maybe in addition to Lana and I. Does that make any sense to you?"
"It does. I would need to run it up the chain of command and get permission. That is unlikely unless there was a benefit to NCIS. However, four of Callen's team already have the devices (including Neric on Callen's team). Hm, if we added Mr. Callen, Mr. Hanna and myself . . . then I think we could justify having our Ops Center join in as monitors. Let me make a call or two and get back to you, ok?"
"Ok, that would be great. Well, we need to get going. We should be home from classes by 13:30. Thanks again for your help and friendship. We treasure it, and you." Lana expresses.
"Safe travels, my friends."
The next morning Kensi and Deeks walk into the mission early, hoping to catch Hetty before the day begins. She is at her desk, reading a report or something. She motions them to come into her office and have a seat.
"It's so good to see you safe and sound, Mrs. Deeks. What can I do for you?"
"Well, it's about my divorce," Kensi breaks the ice. "Is it really legal? If so, can you help us quash it? Who should we contact?"
"I can do part of it, but as a party to the whole affair, my involvement should be limited." Marty adds.
"Yes, it should. Let me make a couple of inquiries, and I will get back to you. Along those lines, how are you two doing?"
"Great!" They both exclaim simultaneously, then break out into laughter.
Hetty chuckles and smiles. "I'm delighted to hear it. I will get back to you ASAP."
THE BULLPEN
"Did Hetty ask you about those GPS devices?" Callen asks, looking at the junior partners. Sam is very interested too.
"She did," Kensi answers.
Silence.
"Well?" Sam is obviously unhappy.
"Well, what?" Deeks asks.
"Well, do we get one?" Sam is getting worked up.
Callen starts tapping his pencil on his desk.
Marty winces, this doesn't feel good at all.
"She is going to run a request up the flag pole," Kensi says.
Deeks continues," then submit a request or proposal to the Justice League. They manufacture the devices. We got one each because Clark and Lana are members of the League. Their request was approved, apparently. So, they got one for each of their close circle of friends. It was a life-saver in this case. PTL!"
"Amen to that," Kensi heartily agrees.
"Hmpf!" Sam makes a disgusted noise.
"So, what about us?" Callen frowns.
"We don't know," Kensi looks at Marty. "We are sure that Hetty will inform us when she has some information to share."
"I'm sure," Sam snorts.
'Oh boy' Deeks thinks. He and Kensi retreat to their desks and get to work on the cold cases that Hetty has assigned to them to look over. Happy days!
