Chapter 6

Riddick had hiked to the edge of the island were he made his camp. That was a month and half ago. For the first few days he got acquainted with the land which had changed what little wild life it had, which slipped from the border ward.

At the moment he found himself relaxing for once without a care in the world, completely at ease in his surroundings. The beast made it so because it instinctively knew this land and all of it's domain. The beast taught the man what it knew. So Riddick relaxed, his blades he made from the hardy animal bones, sharp, dense and strong as steel, even more so, by his side.

The sweet scent that first caught Riddick's attention drifted on the small breeze and he had to fight his instincts and the beast's yearning. He was in control of himself, not anything else.

So he slowly moved from the rock he was resting on and slung his blades onto his body which was bare but his leather pants that he made. Once off the rock he let his body react to the scent but at his pace. He stood still, shaking slightly as he breathed deeply of the stronger scent. His eyes started to dilate while the beast demanded to make pups. Image after image it threw into Riddick's mind, more detailed then that last, not caring what body it was in while doing so. Suddenly without warning the beast took over Riddick and when it landed on four legs it broke out into a run.

It seemed that Riddick and the beast were in agreement.

Meanwhile River was on the other side of the border. She had made a nest for herself in the thickest grove of trees that spread from the small garden out to the rest of the island. At first she freaked out after breaking free of the academy training but soon felt free. River had a great time teasing her older brother Simon when he brought Kaylee to meet her a few weeks into her change.

To be honest River was amused by the reactions of the rest of the crew. Not so amused by Jayne's attempts to shot her at first. He still had the bite mark, unbroken of the skin.

River settle down for a nap as she listened to her brother read Plato to her. She was unaware of what was coming or at least the human River was. Her beast was curious at best. It knew a Alpha was about, but what kind?
