Chapter 10

Headmaster Dumbledore of Hogwarts, insert long list of titles here, came out of the fireplace into chaos.

Or at least when he went into the kitchen. Harry Potter was sitting defiant with his godfather behind him with his hands on Harry's shoulders in support.

Clearly something big happened when he was away for just a few minutes to sign off some paperwork for the next school year.

His calm but loud voice cut through the air like a knife through butter. "What happened?"

Harry Potter looked at him in the silence. "I let Nagini, Tom Riddle's snake into his bedroom. She somehow by passed the wards and since even after the soul fragment of Lord Voldemort was torn out of me, I can still understand snakes. She seemed oddly more intelligent then most snakes that I've talked too."

"Because she wasn't born a snake Harry." Dumbledore continued after the sharp intake of breath at that startling news.

As Dumbledore describe how he had met Nagini in the early nineteenth century when she was human, he wove a picture of her human form in midair with his wand. "Sadly even if I had originally agreed to help reverse her curse to become a snake, we never got a chance to see if the dragon's blood potion would work."

A unexpected voice came from the doorway leading into the rest of the house. "Can she really become human again?" A tall, sharp blue eyed, dark haired teenager with a huge snake wrapped around his lean figure leaned against the door frame, a cold look on his very handsome figures.

Dumbledore took in the sight of a young Tom Riddle as he seemed to intently study how Nagini looked as a human. Unknown to the rest of the group who had their wands out, Hermione Granger felt a little foolish and slightly crushed, about her mini-crush she had on Tom Riddle or at least his brain. They and her parents had so very interesting, at times frustrating, but enlightening conversations with the fifty- three year old soul fragment.

It seemed he liked snakes. Or at least the human Nagini if the look of awe in his eyes was any indication. But as she glanced around the room, it seemed that she was one of the only ones to pick up on that detail, they were all too busy seeing the threat instead of the human teenager.

So she decided to finished the interesting puzzle that Dumbledore gave her once Tom Riddle seemed to be more then a raging power hungry fiend.

"There is a way for her to become a human Animagus instead. It involves the blood of dragons and a muggle born." Her challenging gaze wasn't haughty but of pure fact.

"Do it." Tom Riddle smirked, he didn't know who was more shocked, the muggle born or Dumbledore or the rest of the group of idiots. But he didn't care, he wanted what Nagini wanted and she really wanted to be human again.

Five hours later he paced in front of the room he had been in. Everyone else left him alone. He wasn't hungry and he really wanted a wand. But he doubted anyone would give him one and besides the wand he wanted was not there.

"I don't think your old wand would suit you anymore Tom." Inside of flinching inside as he usually did about his birth name he gave a scaling look at the thorn at his side. The headmaster of Hogwarts hadn't left his side since Tom announced his presence in the kitchen.

"Oh and you think I'll do well against myself with no wand?"

"Accurately when I went to America this wand suddenly appeared in my room. I don't know why I kept it so long as it doesn't like me at all. It is cold and barely endures my presence. But I believe it was meant for you."

A dusty old soon to be falling apart wand case was tossed at Tom. Mechanically he caught it and sensed something that settled into his bones and unknown to him before chased away the cold that always had been there.

His magic was humming in a way that his other wand never could produce. Curiously Tom opened the case and caught the wand as the centuries old wand case incinerated at his touch. He clenched his jaw tightly against the overwhelming feeling of warmth that poured into him and warmed his magical core. It was a sensation he only felt once, in his mother's womb. Love magic or a brush of it.

Dumbledore was talking but Tom only heard the words snake wood, a few shavings of the Horned Serpent horn and a sliver of White River Monster spine. Overwhelmed he passed out, not noticing the look of concern on Dumbledore's face but he did notice Nagini's dark eyes looking worried set in a pretty face.
