After calling in his coworkers to check on him, the brothers stayed to question the man. He said he was heading to their appointment when he suddenly felt like he was in the back seat of his own body. The nursing staff said they would take over caring for the doctor. So Dean and Sam started to leave. Sam had his phone out looking at it furiously. Dean was pissed.
"Crowley told me there was a rumor but now everyone and their damn hell hound is gonna know, god-" he clenched his fist and shook it at nothing, "if that prick tells a single demon I swear-". He grunted and looked at his brother. "Looking up a pattern of deaths in the hospital? He had to gank a few people here and there," Dean tried to focus his anger on a case he wouldn't be able to work.
"Ah, yeah, that," Sam didn't pay attention. Dean glared at him.
"Do you like the smell of your own farts, Sammy?" He asked.
"Yeah, sure Dean," Sam replied. Dean was too pissed to laugh at his brother.
"Sam what the hell are you doing?" He grabbed his phone from out of his hands. He looked at the screen. It was a pregnancy tracker.
"Didn't I tell you to stop with this crap," he growled. Sam snatched his phone back.
"I know I'm not really in a place to be mad with you after I outed you but- why did you lie to me about how far along you were," Dean pursed his lips into a frown. He stopped walking to face Sam. He put his hands on his hips. He rubbed his face and nodded.
"I already told you the truth,"
"You obviously didn't- you're 6 months along! Not 3 like we figured out," Dean looked at Sam. He grabbed his arm and pulled him. Dean started walking to the impala as he pulled Sam along.
"I already told you: it's Cas's'. That should explain everything,".
"What's Cas's'? What does he have to do with you being pregnant?" Dean got in the impala and slammed the door. He looked at Sam. His eyes begged his younger brother to either figure it out or stop asking questions. "Dean- what does Cas have to do with you being pregnant? What do you mean it's Ca—s's'," he stretched out his words as his mind connected the dots. He paused and looked around. The more time passed, the more frantic he looked. He ran his fingers through his hair.
"Dean," he breathed out, "what do you mean by "it's Cas's'"?" He spoke clearly and deeply. Dean reached over to the passenger seat and slapped his hand on it inviting his brother to sit down. Sam frowned but went to sit anyways. He got in and looked at Dean. "Please tell me I'm wrong. You love doing that- please do it right now," Sam nearly shook.
"Well now you know why I didn't want anyone to know; especially Cas,"
"No- that's not true," Sam shook his head, "it's not possible,"
"Search your feelings, you know it to be true, Luke," Dean smirked.
"Dean- this is no time for jokes! Are- are you carrying the neph..." he paused, "Cas's' pup?" His voice shaked, unsure if he really wanted to answer. Dean looked at him. Was he really going to tell him? Out of everyone Sam really might have never found out. To him it would be his new family member. No. Dean had to. He nodded as he swallowed down a lump in his throat.
"It's Cas's' pup," he confirmed. Sam stared at his brother. It was almost like the first time he saw him as pregnant. But this time he wasn't some feral omega cradling his stomach, no this time: it was it brother.
There was a knock on the window. The two boys jumped as they looked over to see their previously possessed sonographer. They relaxed and Dean rolled down the window.
"Hey guys sorry about fainting back there, I wasn't even able to get you this:" he handed them an envelope. Dean hesitated but took it. "It was a little hazy in my head but I saw it as clear as day," Dean started opening the envelope, "so I wrote the gender down and stuck it in there for ya, just in case you wanted to know,". Dean stopped opening it. He looked at the man.
"The gender of my pup? That's in here?" He nodded.
"See you boys around," he waved and left.
Dean looked at the white envelope in his hands. He stuffed it in his jacket.
"You're not going to look?" Sam asked.
"We were talking," Dean looked back at Sam. Sam lifted his eyebrows and nodded. He looked out his window. There was silence. Dean watched his bump and rubbed it slowly. Sam turned back to say something when he saw Dean caressing his pup. Sam smiled and laughed. Dean looked at him.
"What?" The idiot just smiled. Dean scowled, "what, Sam?" Sam shook his head.
"I should yell at you. I should be pissed that you didn't tell me. I would have never let Cas get anywhere near you. I know you hate it when I say it but I would have-"
"Protected me," Dean finished, "I know," he grunted. Sam paused and looked at Deans belly. He held his tongue and tried not to purr as he touched the bump. Dean glared at the hand then slowly turned his glare to Sam. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Shut up Dean," Sam smirked, "I earned this today,".
They drove up to the bunker. Dean turned off the impala.
"You think he's still in there?" Sam asked.
"Why would he leave?" Dean shrugged. They paused.
"So when did you fall for him?" Sam wanted to ask the whole ride back. Dean paused in thought.
"When Cas died from the leviathans it was weird. I was worried and I felt like I cared too much. And when he came back the first thing I wanted to do was... kiss him," Sam listened, "he wouldn't have been the first guy I kissed, or even slept with, but for some reason I really wanted him for myself; not for sex but I wanted him to be my beta- well alpha. After realizing that I wanted him for him, I went on a self hating binge. Because, sleeping with a guy for fun, I didn't think it made me bisexual. I fought with being in love with him for a while but then... One day I woke up and was okay with who I was and who I loved. I was sad because- I could never be with him but I was happy that he was there,". Deans paused, " mom, ah... when mom came back and first met Cas... for some reason I told her. She said she knew by the way I looked at him. She said it filled her heart with joy that I found someone I really loved," Dean smiled. Sam smiled too. He patted his brother on the back.
"Honestly," Sam started, "I'm happy it's Cas," Dean gave him the side eye. Sam put up his hands. "Yeah it would be better if you we're carrying a pup that can possibly destroy worlds but... I'm glad it's Cas. I couldn't think of anyone better for you,". Dean rolled his eyes.
"Alright, I'm done with this sappy crap," he pushed his brother away.
They got out and started for the bunker.
"Oh, why did you let Cas take care of you while you were sick? He could have found out while helping you," Dean paused.
"Wasn't sick," he answered shortly. Sam gave him a stern confused look.
"What were you guys-" he paused as his eyes widened. Dean smirked. "Dean-" Sam watched him walk to the bunker door, "Dean were you- Dean that's disgusting! You're pregnant!".
"Can't get knocked up again," he chuckled.
