It only took Dean a few minutes to get to the store. He entered the fluorescent lit building. He hadn't been this far out of the bunker since he went to get his ultrasound with Sam. But this time he was venturing on his own. He carried a duffel bag of his demon hunting equipment- minus the knife. He looked around the store he had been in once- maybe twice. His search was stopped as he spotted Jack. He waved him down. Jack rushed up to him.
"Glad you got here so quick,".
"Yeah- well I wasn't doing anything but watching crappy tv," he looked around. "So where is she?" Jack started pulling him to a customer service area. He pulled Dean into an office and shut the door behind them. Dean didn't see any windows in the cramped office space, and just one vent that was on the floor. He poured salt around the vent.
"Okay- so here's the plan- you lure her in here, tell her I'm a pissed of customer, and I'll trap her," Dean started to draw a demon trap on the ceiling with spray paint, "and I'll leave. Sam will be here soon to exercise her,".
"Dean- she's pregnant!"
"And?"
"The demon might hurt the pup if you don't exercise her right off the bat,". Damnit. The kid was right.
"Fine- but as soon as that demon's gone, I'm out,". Jack nodded. He started to leave but turned around.
"Please try to keep her alive... I really like her," he admitted shyly. Dean smirked and waved him off. He ran out of the office and Dean finished up the trap.
"Gonna be one hell of a show," he whispered as he rubbed his belly. He pulled out a notebook and skimmed through it looking for the exercising spell. He got to it and bookmarked it before shutting and shoving it in his pocket. He pulled out a bag of salt to give to Jack to put in front of the door. He was ready. He just had to wait for Jack.
He wasn't really ever nervous when trapping a demon but this time he was going to have to protect his pup and hers. He put his hand on his belly and tried to soothe his nerves. He opened the door and looked around, he closed it and went back to his standing spot just beyond the trap. He put his back to the door and held his belly again. He started to purr. It was the only thing helping him at this point. He thought about the vision it sent him. Why was Cas there? Why were they in the infirmary? Why was it covered in blood? And why... was Cas crying? Dean took in a shaky breath. Was it predicting it's own death? Was Cas crying because he had to kill his own child? Would Dean ever forgive his alpha for killing their pup? He stopped purring and looked at his round belly. He felt his eyes start burning with tears. He aggressively wiped his face and shook his head.
"I'm going to keep you away from him. That vision- you dying- it won't happen," Dean whispered.
The door handle jiggled and he quieted as it opened.
"Sorry for the wait-" a feminine voice started, "what seems to be the problem?" Dean quickly spun around and tossed the bag of salt to Jack. Kelly watched it fly past her and land in Jacks hands. It took him a second but he started pouring a barrier in front of the door. The demon watched as she realized what was going on. She looked at Dean.
"Ah- the omega Winchester," she smirked. Dean scowled.
"News is out I guess," he didn't look at the trap. He already knew the demon was about a step too far from it. "You're looking... pregnant," she laughed. Jack finished and looked at Dean. "I guess that's something we have in common," she placed her hand over her flat belly. "But she's not as far along as you are. So is it your brothers pup? We really want to know who the alpha is,".
Dean took out the notebook and opened it. He started reading. The demon scowled and ran towards him but was stopped in her tracks. She looked around her feet then to the ceiling. "Asshole-" she hissed. Dean smirked.
"Oldest trick in the book,". He went back to reading the spell. The demon covered her mouth as Dean spoke- but it was too late. Her hands jerked to her sides and her head flung back, mouth open wide. She choked and gasped as Dean read. As he finished black smoke erupted from Kelly's body, off into the ceiling. Jack stood behind her, ready to catch her body when she collapsed.
The out pour of smoke finally ended and Kelly fell back into Jacks arms. Dean shoved the notebook in his duffel bag and went to the woman. He checked her pulse. Jack watched Deans eyes. He hoped he didn't just kill his manager. Dean let out a soft smile. Jack relaxed his body. Dean got up and zipped up his bag and flung it on his shoulder. Kelly stirred in Jacks arms. Her eyes fluttered open.
"Wh- what the hell?" She looked around. Jack helped her to an upright position. She grabbed her flat belly. "Where- am I?" Dean bent over and offered his hand to her. She took it and, with Deans and Jacks help, got up. She was still a little confused on where she was.
"Kelly- you passed out," Jack lied.
"I... I did?" She looked at Dean, then down to his belly. "I guess I did,".
"Have you been skipping meals or your prenatal vitamins?" Dean asked.
"How- how'd you know I was taking them?" She asked.
"Jack told me you were pregnant. And we have a pregnant psychic connection," he smiled holding on to his belly. Kelly smiled confusedly.
"Ah- yeah. I missed lunch and my last few days of pills... I guess I should have eaten something... I felt really weird like-"
"You were a passenger in your own body?" Dean picked up where she left off.
"Yeah," she spoke breathlessly.
"Happened in my first trimester too. Gotta keep up with the schedule," Dean fixed his bag strap.
"I'm sorry but- Who... are you?" She asked. Dean hesitated.
"He's my legal guardian, Dean. He and his brother are my guardians. He was just checking up on me when you passed out," Jack chimed in. Kelly nodded. "I think you should call Beth; take the rest of the day off," the boy suggested. She nodded again.
"Yeah- let me call in another manager,". She held herself up on her own and walked to her desk. Jack and Dean stayed with her until she found someone. The two then left her in her office to recuperate.
They stood near the entrance of the store. Dean slapped his bag.
"Good thing that demon wasn't too smart," he smiled, "I thought it was going to smell the spray paint and bolt,".
"Yeah," Jack sighed. Dean tilted his head, looking at the kid.
"You okay?" He asked. Jack nodded.
"You can't tell anyone," he started.
"I won't,".
"I've been looking up to her... kind of... as if she was my mom. She treats me really nicely and called me son once. I would... I don't know how I would feel if she died knowing that ignored the demonic signs around her,". Dean smiled and put his hand on his shoulder.
"She made it. That's all that matters," Dean smiled. Jack nodded.
The stores' doors opened as Donna and Jody rushed in, followed by Sam. The two women stopped in their tracks. Their eyes glued to Deans belly. Deans body slumped.
"Damn it," he uttered. Sam rushed from behind them and stopped to look at Dean.
"Dean-" he whispered before pushing past the two. Dean was expecting Sam to hover over him like a worried mama bear but insead Sam grabbed him by the collar and lifted him. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Dean pushed him off.
"Jack called me about an exorcism," Dean shrugged.
"You left the bunker- without telling me- and came here to exorcise a demon?! You idiot! Did you freaking forget that you're pregnant? You could have gotten hurt,".
"Relax. Everyone's fine. The girl, the girls pup, my pup, and me!" Dean lifted his hands in the air and let them fall to his sides with a slap. "Happy ending,".
"I'm going to kill you," he threatened. Dean rolled his eyes and pulled himself away from his brothers grip. He walked past him and stood in front of the women. He waved at them and started walking out to the parking lot.
"See ya at home, Sammy," Dean waved as he left the store.
