After a few hours Maxwell finally saw something other than plants. Moving closer to it he realized that they were building, they looked like they were from an older time but buildings nonetheless.
Approaching it he was stopped by two individuals. Seeing who he was stopped by he slipped a few words.
"A Dwarf and an Elf?"
"Hmm what are you talking about? We are fairies" the dwarf looking one spoke. He seemed offended
"Sorry, I did not know about it"
"Forget that, what are you doing here?" The elf tilted his weapon towards Maxwell.
"I came here because I was searching for something Lady Vivian asked me for" hearing the name of an elemental both of them lowered their weapons.
"I see, so you seek something and try to prove yourself. It's been ages since this happened. If what you're searching is some specific item we can't help you" the dwarf answered.
"Rather than an item she wanted me to find a person and stay with her." Dwarf raised his brow but then turned away. He lightly touched the elf next to him.
"Come inside for now. We shouldn't stay like that."
Moving after them they entered the town. Inside he was greeted by many different looking beings but most look humanoid. They were living like villagers from old medieval times.
"Quite beautiful" Eld puffed his torso and answered with confidence
"Indeed it is. You can't find any place more beautiful than here"
"..." Maxwell did not answer him. He was not a particular fan of medieval times so his opinion was biased.
Passing the likely fairies around them they reached another gate. There seemed to be no one protecting it. The dwarf turned towards Maxwell
"We will stop here. Continuing from this path you will reach the one who can answer your questions, King of Faires Oberon"
"Isn't sending me to the King directly dangerous? After all I'm still someone you guys don't know about" The dwarf laughed hearing that.
"Hahaha, well if you can do anything towards our king we won't stand any chance against you anyways. Goodluck buddy, most people that enter don't come out." He and the Elf then left, leaving him alone at the gates.
It was incredibly easy and it felt unreal. Were they just really relaxed about someone just coming here like this?
Still it didn't matter for him right now. He approached the gates close enough that he managed to open it slowly. Entering inside there was a little fog and in the middle there was a person with butterflies everywhere.
Wasn't there supposed to be something he wondered but it seemed not. He just approached the man who was most likely the king. Hearing his noises the person turned his head towards him with a smile on his face.
"Welcome, what do i owe you for this visit?" He pointed towards the chair next to him but Maxwell politely refused.
"Thank you, your majesty but I won't be able to stay long. I came here to ask something you something with the wishes of Lady Vivian"
"Oh that old hag sent you? I suppose it's to find someone. I must admit it has been long." So the king was thinking of that water lady to be an old hag huh thought Maxwell. He was surprised by the king's words. Still the king instantly understood that he was here to find someone.
"Tell me more about it"
"She asked me to find 'the witch' and be with her for 8 years" A surprised face appeared on his face
"...she did?"
"Yes." He got up from where he was sitting and moved closer.
"That weirdo is sending you for something she failed? I knew that she was missing something from her head but i didn't know she had fun sending people to their death" He lifted one of his hands and a bird dropped a paper on his hand. He opened and started reading it.
"She was quite angry but who is this witch if i may ask, your majesty" Finishing it he took out a stamp and left a mark on the paper. Crumbling it he landed it to the bird that delivered him and sent it back
"She has many names but the most popular one is Morgan Le Fay" He moved towards the flowers that were on the ground and picked one out. Wasn't she Arthur's sister?
"She is here, imprisoned?" Oberon snickered a little bit.
"Yes and the situation is a bit complicated. I suppose if she is willing to do something like this it is fair to explain it to you" the flower in his hand started to blacken and die. Its petals dropped and slowly it turned to ash.
"The Witch is actually Vivian"
"Sorry your majesty but I don't really understand it"
"Hahaha well i did say it was complicated no? Don't think much about it. I advise whatever you come here for you should go back, that Witch is not someone you should spend 8 years with and I doubt anybody could even go for more than a week with her" After his explanation was done he went back to where he was sitting. He picked up his tea cup and took a sip
"I can't do that, your majesty." Oberon continued to look at him. He took a few more sips while not taking his eyes off Maxwell.
"Interesting. Fine, I will tell you." he clicked his fingers and a group of butterflies came with another paper. They came close to Maxwell and he picked it off. After their delivery was gone they went away.
"In that paper there is a map of where her prison is at. I wish you good luck, outsider. You can ask for a weapon when you get out, we have great smiths here" he gave a smile after that.
"Thank you, your majesty but I don't need a weapon." Oberon just waved his hand telling him to go away.
"Suit yourself" Maxwell bowed and turned away. With the paper in his hand he got out of the place.
"I wonder what did you do Vivian, to make him destroy your little house" Oberon made a little last note that was only heard by him.
After getting out the gates closed behind Maxwell automatically. He looked behind but saw no one and turned away. He opened the paper and looked at the map provided to him by the King of Fairies.
In the paper it was showing the places around the Avalon, with a dot it was showing that he was in the middle of town. There were also some location names like where he assumes to come from, the plains.
Locating the place where Morgan was staying he burned the path in his head. It was rather basic as he just needed to walk straight to it. He crumbled the paper and put it in one of his pockets.
Walking to where he came out he checked the people around him, they were all too similar to humans but here and there there would often be a case of ground moving around, water flying in the air, flames condensing and used to heat things up.
Reaching the gate he saw the dwarf and elf again. The elf seemed surprised to see him but the dwarf had the same face.
"Oh so you're already finished. Did you get what you needed?" Dwarf asked him
"Yes, the king was rather generous" Maxwell smiled and pulled out the paper he got. Showing it to them he put it back in his pocket.
The dwarf made a humming sound and shaked his head. What did it mean, Maxwell did not understand. Thanking them he walked away and started to find Morgan.
The elf after Maxwell was gone approached the dwarf.
"Hey, was the king this generous? That was the fastest I've seen enter and get out"
"Well, normally whoever enters there they would get out after one or two days. The fog around the place is so thick and it confuses whoever enters so it makes sense. Either the king decided that there was no need for testing him or he just passed it extremely quickly. Both seem impossible if you ask me." The King's place was famous for the fog around it. Whoever enters it takes days to even find something in the fog. Adding the fact that the place changed every now and then there was no single path too.
"Maybe it is because of Lady Vivian?"
"That's even more impossible. It's well known that King hates Lady Vivian, with every change he throws slurs at her. Rather he would have made the guy's path even harder, that is why the first option is impossible."
"It was also quite surprising nobody approached right? Not many outsiders come here and when one comes people always go around them but this time they didn't even notice" this made the dwarf think.
"Now that you say it, yeah. It's pretty weird. Maybe his presence was incredibly low? I couldn't even detect any mana from him too"
"You too? Even I didn't and I'm pretty sensitive to it. I thought he didn't have any" The dwarf made a shocking expression. With a tone of confusion he spoke
"Wait.. if he doesn't have any, how come he is walking just fine?" This also made elf think. Avalon was not a place someone that wasn't good with handling mana could enter and walk freely. People from old when they came here often had trouble breathing and they were mostly known as pretty famous guys if what they were saying was true. Normally someone without a mana would instantly die under the pressure so how come he didn't
"I guess he was just really good at hiding it?"
"That makes sense…. Okay let's stop. Go back to your position, let's not slack off anymore. The king would surely know anyways it's not up to us to think"
"Okey"

Work, study, test and repeat
This was the current life Rin was having. She was at one side studying what El-Melloli II was teaching and on the other side she was studying what Zelretch gave to her. El-Melloi's class was relatively easy for her and she was just like a sponge when it came to it but the teachings of Zelretch were so vague. He basically showed the start and was expecting her to reach the ending. It was taking too much of her time that she barely went out.
Even when she went out it was not like it was fun anyways. Shirou was stuck on his smith all day long trying to achieve perfection and that left her alone. She did not have any more friends.
She tried to visit him when she finally found some time but stopped when she reached the smith's door. The heat from the inside was enough to warm the person on the door so she did not enter, not wanting to distract him.
The other classmates often tried to interact with her but she mostly refused them.
Especially when she tried to stay away from certain people, she could not even stand their presence at all.
…
It was rather boring but she kept going and tried her best nonetheless.
*Knock Knock*
Rin got surprised with the sudden knocking. She was not expecting someone so who could it have been? Getting to the door and opening it she was met with Shirou.
"Shioru?"
"Hi, can I come in?"
"Hah.. Sure of course" Being invited Shirou entered inside. He looked around a little bit. She closed the door and turned to look at Shirou
"Soo, uhh.. how are you?"
"Good, how about you?"
"Of course it's good" Shirou snickered at Rin
"Hehehe of course, after all it's you we are talking about" He smiled towards her.
"..."
"..."
"Well, why did you come here?" Rin couldn't handle the silence and asked away.
"About that.. I was actually going to give something but now I'm not sure"
"You were?"
"It's nothing amazing… i don't even think you will like it"
"What is it? Show me" Shirou now seemed a little bit embarrassed but he started too out something from his back.
"..." Rin was just staring towards the thing Shirou pulled out
"Ah well.. I-"
"..."
"You know that I was foreign these last few days non-stop and I finally made something I was satisfied with. This is the best sword I have made and I thought giving it to you was the best choice, after all you have helped me when you didn't have to" Shirou gave the sword in his hand to Rin. It was a rather small sword enough to be a dagger. The sword did not look that amazing, the handle and the guard were all black. But the main thing that drew Rin's attention was the blade. It was all made from gems, it looked almost clear but when light hit it, it reflected all the colors of the rainbow everywhere.
"Erhm so, here. I should be going now" Shirou gave the blade to Rin and got out of the room, leaving Rin by herself.
She didn't move and looked at the sword in her hands. It was the most beautiful thing she saw and it left her speechless.
Getting back to her senses she went near her desk and put the blade in a way she would see it every time she lifted her head.
With the light coming from her desk the sword bended the light so that the wall looked all colorful. She sat down and continued studying but with a smile on her face.

Passing the trees Maxwell finally arrived at the location shown on the map. Looking ahead there was a huge gate but there didn't seem to be anyone.
Moving closer to it he realized that everything was crumbling. He did not know how long they stayed like this but it seems nobody took care of them. He continued on and entered inside.
Everything looked like the town he was previously in, this whole place was just a relic from the past but there was a difference between the two.
"This place is empty" he couldn't help but mutter. Everything was in shambles and there didn't seem to be anybody. Was this whole place the prison?
He kept walking till he arrived at the castle. The entrance was like everywhere, it looked unattended but the thing he noticed was that the doors were open.
Slowly entering inside a bolt of light approached him quickly but it missed him and hit the wall. It seems there were some traps but like everything they too seemed unattended. He did not even do anything and that bolt of lighting missed him.
The inside would have looked gorgeous but it was light and the color of the place was sucked out dry. Following the stairs he was met with the throne but part of it was missing. He touched the throne and lifting his finger he saw that it was covered by dust.
"Who are you?" Someone called out to him. He turned his head to the right and saw a female. She had almost long white hair with tips of them being white. It was tied once behind her, resembling a ponytail. Her clothes were not much, she was wearing all white with a robe on her. The robe looked tattered.
"Just someone visiting miss" she did not say anything more. Turning her back to him she walked away.
"There is nothing here, you should go back" he was now not able to see her anymore. Assuming this place was a prison then she should be Morgan right?
He didn't follow after her but went the other way. Following the path he found the kitchen, armory, bedrooms and garden. Everywhere looked worn.
THe image of her came to Maxwell's head. She too looked unattended. Was she living here like this for who knows how long?
He felt pity towards the girl. Seeing everything there was to see he went back to the throne room and entered the path he saw her.
The first thing he noticed was the blood everywhere. There were tons of crystals, metals, orbs and more on the ground. Slowly he picked them up and gathered all of them in a single place. He would do something with them later and then he couldn't do anything about the blood right now.
Approaching the doors he opened and looked at all of them. One of them had a single greatsword and a picture, the other one had a slick looking sword and armor, the last one among the ones he checked had a book with black spear next to it. He did not know what they were supposed to be and didn't think much about them. Trying the last door he realized that he couldn't open it. Not trying anymore he turned back, there was nothing more to see here.
If he was going to live here for 8 years then he would at least make it bearable.

(Few months later)
In a place where everything looked white no matter where they looked a group of people could be seen walking together.
"Doctor, are you sure this is the correct path? We have been walking for almost an hour now since the last stop." the man that was called as Doctor was looking at the file in his hand
"Be more patient, aren't you our head technician? I fear if the head technician can even stand a little walking what would happen when you work on projects that require time."
"Bah, wasn't it you who told us we would arrive there shortly… three hours ago? I'm just worried my man are going to freeze here"
"Sureee" they kept on walking while talking and the doctor suddenly stopped after they finished climbing. He turned to face the crowd and bringed his hand upwards.
There was a huge circular building behind him. It was white like the snow they were standing on but it was easy to distinguish it from the environment as there were many lights coming out from it.
"Welcome"
The hood of the doctor opened and revealed his face. His orange hair was freely moving with the strong wind. He was someone that was also hired recently by the head of this project as a head of the medical department.
"To CHALDEA!"
