(A/N: I want to thank all the people who liked, followed, and left a review on this story. It means a lot to see positive and constructive feedback! Before the chapter begins a few people asked 'If Six did the independent Vegas ending, why is his duster the old world flag instead of the vault 21?' The answer is I based his look off the concept art of lonesome road. Anyway on to the chapter!)

"I asked boss about his past before, all he told me was 'your guess is as good as mine'."

-Raul

"Cheers!"

The sounds of mugs slamming together and laughter rang through the tavern like an orchestra. Once the sun had set the men and women of the village decided to throw a celebration to commemorate the return of the men and the defeat of the orc tribe.

Once Six returned with the missing townsfolk Edwin had to reconvene with the village leadership for his payment. Six about collapsed when he was handed a bag of solid gold coins, but managed to keep a straight face albeit just barely.

While most of the tavern's patrons were drinking and celebrating, Six was sitting at the bar of the tavern with Edwin standing on the other side, both looking over a large piece of paper. Six quickly learned that while he and the locals spoke the same language he couldn't read their written words for shit. Thus once provided with a map of the area, as per his deal Edwin 'agreed' to, Edwin offered to help the courier decipher the map.

Edwin tapped on a far section of the map. "That city is called Nearul, it's a port town from there you can probably find a trader ship heading to the desert region."

Six nodded and took another swig of beer, the same that everyone else was drinking, it tasted like piss but at least it was on the house.

"How longs it take ta get there?"

Edwin scratched the back of his head. "If you're walking, probably a week at the most."

Six just grunted a week to walk to the city where he'd take a month-long cruise just on the hunch that this 'desert region' is America or at the very least some part of Mexico. If it was the later Six would at least be able to make it back to the states. But it was still a big gamble on if the info was right.

Seeing the frustration on his town's savior Edwin gave the courier an apologetic look. "I'm sorry if it's not much help, our maps are older and we don't have any that goes farther than the region." Edwin said. "If you make a trip to Lescatie I guarantee you'll be able to find better maps there."

"Appreciate the help Ed, I'll have ta chew on my options." Six said.

"Hey Eddie! My mugs gone empty! Help me out will ya!" A jovial voice shouted. Edwin excused himself to attend the patrons leaving Six to sit alone to gaze at the foreign map.

"I'm surprised the hero of the village is sitting by himself rather than celebrating like everyone else." A feminine voice said.

Six turned his attention from the map to see the beautiful woman with the blue dress from earlier had pulled a seat next to him.

"I've done enough drinkin' to make up for it, 'sides I got other things on my mind." Six said looking back at the map as if the parchment would suddenly reveal his way home.

"What are you looking for? I've traveled a lot. Maybe I can help?" The woman offered.

Six gave a quiet 'hm'. "Appreciate that darlin', have you ever heard of the Mojave or America?"

The woman brought a finger to her chin and looked upwards in contemplation. "Unfortunately not, I'm sorry to say."

Six was a little off guard by how genuine the women looked with the apology.

Six shrugged. "Ain't nothin' to cry 'bout miss that's the answer everyone's given' me. So far the closest option I got is this 'desert region' but I ain't too sure about it."

The woman rests her head in her palm. "I have to ask, how does one end up in a position to be as lost as you are?" She asked.

Six let out a loud laugh before answering. "I'd love to tell ya darlin' but there ain't no way in hell you'd believe me."

The two had a moment of awkward silence before the woman offered her hand to the courier. "I'm Delilah by the way."

Six accepted the handshake. "Six, but I reckon you knew that already."

Delilah hummed at the response. "From your name, to your clothes, to even the way you speak. Everything about you is strange Six."

Six gave a small laugh. "That such a bad thing?"

Delilah smiled in response. "On the contrary it makes you quite interesting. I'm not sure if you realize it Six but your spirit energy is unlike anything I've ever seen."

Six cocked an eyebrow "The hell you mean by 'spirit energy'?"

Delilah returned the confused look with one of her own. "You don't know what spirit energy is? The curiosities never end with it seems, it's like your very being is an enigma."

Six laughed again and took another drink. "As much as I love a looker like you takin' an interest in me, I ain't nothin' that complex."

Despite the strange way Six spoke Delilah was able to pick up the compliment. A small blush ran across her cheeks as she pushed a stray hair behind her ear.

"A man shows up out of nowhere and single handedly wipes out an entire orc tribe, I'd say that's complex." Delilah said. There was a hint of sadness when she said that.

"Trust me, the only 'complex' part of this job was how batshit crazy those raiders were." Six said finishing the rest of his drink. "The tails were weird enough, but I've seen radiation do stranger things, but there I am after killin' halfa them and their lead says she wants to knock boots together!" Six says but wasn't aware of the lack of surprise from Delilah.

"But in the end even after offerin' to let'em walk they went down same as the rest." Six finished.

His story had raised questions from Delilah. Was he really so surprised by Tails? Did he have something against tails? What was 'radiation'? But all her questions seemed to faze out at that last bit.

Delilah sat up straight in shock from the news. "Let them walk?! As in you offered to let them go?!"

Six was taken aback by the sudden burst of energy. "Yep, figured let a couple of 'em run off they'd tell other rustlers to stay away from the town." Six shrugged. "They turned down the offer 'cept one, so had to send the rest to boot hill."

Delilah looked around the tavern to make sure no one was listening in or overheard the pair's conversation.

Delilah leaned in to speak. "Six you do realize around here letting a mamono live by choice is considered blasphemy! It's practically a crime."

Six was unfazed by the news. "Well if ya wanna squeal it's my word 'gainst yours."

Delilah smiled and shook her head. "You misunderstand me, I have no intention of outing you. In fact you letting an orc live by choice is-." Delilah paused trying to find the right words. "You are very interesting Six."

"It wasn't out of kindness." Six simply said.

"Still though." Delilah slid her hand over Six's and leaned in to whisper into his ear. "I'd love to know more about you Six."

Once those hushed words filled Six's ear images began flashing through the courier's mind. Images of him and Delilah having sex in so many different ways. Images of him and Delilah standing together in the Lucky 38 looking out at the lights of New Vegas. More images of sex. The pair standing-AHH!

As quickly as the fantasies entered Six's head they vanished and were replaced by a near crippling pain, as if a needle was slowly piercing his brain.

Six clutched his aching head in a vain attempt to ease his pain. "GAH! FUCKIN' GOD!" Six screamed, catching the attention of the other patrons.

"Six! What's wrong?!" Delilah worriedly asked. And just like that, once that question was asked Six's pain vanished.

Edwin halted his work and ran to the pair as quickly as he could. "Six are you okay?!" The tavern owner asked.

Six waved off the worried looks. "Yeah yeah I'm fine no need to fret."

Delilah, who looked the most concerned, put a comforting hand on six's shoulder. "Are you sure you're alright? Do you need a healer?"

Six shook his head standing up. "Nah I think I just hit the liquor a little hard. Say Ed I reckon I'm tuckered out for the day."

"Oh right! Your room is on the second floor two doors to the left." After Six had gotten paid Edwin offered a room free of charge to let their town hero to rest to which Six happily agreed to.

"Much obliged." Six said with a tip of his hat. Rolling up the map Six bid a goodnight to Edwin and Delilah and made way to his quarters.

"Hey everyone! One more cheer for our hero!" Edwin shouted to the crowd. And as instructed every patron raised their mugs and cheered Six's name one last time.

Six just awkwardly waved to the crowd before ascending upstairs.

Six was used to people thanking him for helping them, but this was a bit much compared to what he was used to. Do these people treat all mercenaries like this?

Delilah silently watched the courier leave her sight. A part of her wanted to rush after him to ensure he was alright, to care for him. But her self control won over. After all she had business to attend to.

"Would you like another drink Ms. Delilah?" Edwin asked.

Delilah didn't take her eyes off the stair where Six made his exit. "No I've enjoyed myself enough tonight, I believe I'll get some fresh air and retire myself." She said standing from her seat.

"Okay, but be careful please. The orcs may be gone but there are still monsters that crawl in the night." Edwin warned.

With a small laugh Delilah responded. "Don't worry about me Edwin. I know how to handle monsters." With that the traveling scholar exited the building.

Six entered the room and locked the door behind him. The room was simple. A chair, a single bed,a nightstand with an already lit oil lamp providing light into the room, and a window letting in a small amount of moonlight. It was no presidential suite but it'll do.

Six sat in the chair facing it so he'd be able to watch the window and door. The courier had no intention of sleeping, this place and these people were too strange for Six's liking. And he didn't become the boss of New Vegas by not being careful. Luckily with as many cybernetics as Six had he didn't require sleep as often as the average man. While it wasn't ideal Six could manage to go three days without sleep, granted that long will put a lot of strain on the courier's body.

Six could still hear the muted sounds of the celebration downstairs. He didn't know what had caused his sudden headache but the fact it came and went so abruptly didn't sit well with Six.

Six checked his vitals on his pipboy, everything looked normal but that just made even less sense. Six thought over what had led up to his impromptu migrain. He was drinking, reading the map, talking to Delilah-. Delilah, Six felt a hint of shame thinking of the woman. Granted Six was no choir boy he's had dirty thoughts run through his head plenty of time. Hell he lives NEXT DOOR to Gomorrah and Six has had sex with the working girls there before along with a few other women on his travels.

But Six liked to believe he had a bit more restraint than to start fantasizing about a woman he JUST met. Maybe it was the booze. Or maybe this place was just getting to him, she was beautiful after all.

Shoving those thoughts to the side, Six checked other things on his pipboy. He had enough matter stored in the device to ensure he could produce more than enough ammo to make up for today's excursion. And if push comes to shove all Six needs to do is find some scrap metal to break down. Six still couldn't believe that the same geniuses that made something that turns tin cans into bullets are the same people who got him into this mess.

Six took a breath and reminded himself that the think tank are worth keeping around. But he won't forget this screw up anytime soon.

Now Six needed something to pass the time. Six searched in his duster pockets, hopefully he still had-there it is! Six pulled out a folded and wrinkled issue of 'Guns & Ammo'. He often kept a magazine on hand in case of a long journey.

It was an issue Six had read over a dozen times but it was at least something to read to make the time go faster. Besides it was his favorite issue, all about revolvers.

Delilah walked deep into the woods. So far that no townspeople would be able to see or interrupt her.

Once she was far enough away Delilah waved her hand. And as she did a brilliant blue flame engulfed her body seemingly burning away the blue dress she wore to reveal an outfit that could hardly be counted as clothes. With thigh-high boots and gloves that extended to her elbows. Her outfit was a revealing one-piece that barely covered her modesty leaving very little to the imagination.

It wasn't only the clothes that changed either. As the blue flame engulfed her body Delilah's porcelain skin changed into a deep blue, bat like wings and a spade tipped tail protruded from her backside, her sapphire eyes were replaced with burning crimson irises and pitch black sclera, and two solid horns sat atop her head.

Delilah stood proudly in her true demon form. The demon proceeded to stretch her arms, wings, and tail until she heard a satisfying 'pop'.

"Man human form really stiffens the joints." She said to no one.

Giving her appearance one last look over to make sure she was presentable Delilah extended her arm and several circles of pure light appeared as she cast her spell. In front of the demon a large mirror materialized showing the figure she was attempting to contact.

Delilah kneeled down, lowering her head and placed her hand over her chest as a show of fealty.

"Lady Druella, fourth born of the Demon Lord, this humble servant reports to you." Delilah said.

In the mirror was a beautiful woman with snow white hair, intimidating red eyes, features that of a demon like Delilah with the appendages color matching her hair, and an aura that screamed royalty.

"Ugh, Delilah I've told you I don't need all the fanfare, just talk to me normally." The lilam demanded with puffed cheeks.

Delilah cringed a bit at the request. Druella was always more casual with her subordinates than her sisters which was a bit of a change of pace for most mamano.

Standing from her position Delilah spoke. "My apologies my la-er I mean sorry about that."

Druella gave a kindhearted smile. "Better! Now I assume you're contacting me about the rogue orc tribe?"

Delilah bit back a wince. "Yes mistress, I attempted to deal with them diplomatically however they refused to recognize your authority."

Druella pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration. "I suppose that's to be expected, orcs are often too proud for their own good, I assume you'll be able to handle them yourself?"

Delilah nervously swallowed. "Unfortunately their camp has been wiped out by a third party." The demon reported.

Druella's shoulders drooped and a look of disappointment washed over her face. "Oh. I see, was it one of the chief god's?"

"No milady, it was an unblessed mercenary."

Now Druella looked curious. "A single mercenary? Are you sure?"

Delilah nodded eagerly. "Yes! That's what I wanted to discuss with you, your highness."

While Delilah had initially called her superior to inform her of the orcs' fate she was all too eager to discuss the man that had plagued her thoughts.

"This man has spirit energy unlike I've ever seen! He also wields weapons unheard of, he mysteriously appeared and offered to deal with the orcs, single handedly he wiped them all out." Delilah reported yet she had only scratched the surface.

"You let a lone man wander into an orc tribe by himself?!" Druella asked.

Now Delilah looked sheepish. "Y-yes, it was selfish of me, my queen I know, but I had planned on swooping in to save him from becoming a slave to those pigs. But as I watched him he 'dispatched' the orcs with little effort." Now Delilah was overcome with a look of guilt. "If it hadn't been for my plan to impress him the orcs would still be alive."

Druella mulled over the words. "You said you wished to manufacture a situation where you'd save him, why?"

The demon looked to the side as blush ran across her face causing her blue skin to turn a deeper shade of blue. "I wanted to impress him, this stranger is unlike any I've ever seen ma'am. He's-" Once again Delilah struggled to find the right word to describe the courier. "Unique."

An uneasy silence filled the air until Delilah heard her mistress let out an excited squeal.

"Oh Delilah! Have you finally fallen in love?!"

As if she had forgotten about the orc massacre Druella had a look of pure excitement and seemed ready to explode for the tiniest amount of gossip.

Delilah scratched the back of her head nervously. "I believe I have your grace, but be it as it may I take full responsibility for the death of the orc tribe." The demon said, hanging her head in shame.

Druella let out a disappointed sigh before speaking. "While I am saddened by the needless loss of life, I understand that this mercenary more than likely had his perspective of mamano heavily influenced, and the orcs he met probably didn't help." The lilim said. "We will mourn all the orcs, but we must use this as motivation to continue with our cause." Druella said with a steely resolve.

"Not all the orcs perished milady, Six let one live!" Delilah revealed.

"Six? Odd name aside, you say he allowed an orc to live? Of his own choosing?"

"Yes I had retreated after he slayed the orc lord, however he told me he chose to let one orc to inform any other mamano to stay away from the town."

Druella had to process this information. There were many questions bubbling inside her about this man. While orcs were not the most powerful type of mamano a lone person unblessed by the blasted chief god shouldn't be possible, and a hero most certainly would not have allowed an orc to live even if it was for an ulterior motive.

"This man raises many questions that I wish to have answers to." Druella said.

"That's merely the surface Lady Druella." Delilah began. "I watched as an orc struck him with demon realm silver, it caused him to bleed!"

Druella's red eyes went as wide as they possibly could. "What! That shouldn't be possible! Are you certain it was demon realm silver?"

Delilah nodded. "Yes I am. Furthermore when I attempted to use magic on him it-" Delilah winced at the memory of seeing Six in pain."-it caused him great pain."

Druella suddenly grew an angry look. "Used magic on him!? Delilah you know I don't allow the use of magic to manipulate humans!"

Delilah gasped and gave a deep bow to the lilim. "I beg forgiveness your grace! I was overzealous and forgot my place!"

The lilim took a breath to calm herself. "This is the first time I've seen you have feelings for someone Delilah so I'll let this slide, however you are my top field agent! I expect better control of yourself in the future, am I understood?"

Still bowing, Delilah responded. "Yes your majesty."

Ignoring the 'your majesty' part Druella focused on the matter at hand. "With everything you've told me about this 'Six' I would very much like an audience with this man, Delilah bring your love to the closest demon realm territories as soon as possible! This warrants investigation."

Delilah raised her head and saluted her beloved leader. "At your command milady."

Delilah went to cut off the communication spell but before she could Druella spoke.

"Oh, and Delilah, feel free to take a few 'stops' on your way back." The lilim said with a wink as the magical mirror fizzled out of existence.

Delilah hugged herself and shivered with excitement. For decades she had been mocked for not having a husband by her peers, always waiting for the 'right one'. She knew one day her patience would be rewarded and rewarded she was! Six was unlike ANY man she'd ever seen and he. Was. All. hers.

Six's pipboy read seven o'clock when he left his room. Going down the stairs Six spotted Edwin happily humming as he wiped down the bar.

Seeing the courier descend the stairs Edwin grew a wide smile. "Ah! Sir Six good morning, if you're hungry I can cook up some eggs."

"That's a mighty kind offer Ed, but I plan on moseyin' off, I just came to tell ya happy trails." The courier said.

Edwin had a disappointed look in his eyes. "I understand, as much as I wish you could stay, I'm sure other people need you more than us."

Edwin reached behind the bar and pulled out a traveler's bag. "Before you go Blair and Lucan wanted to give you this for your journey, it has some provisions in there as well."

Six forgot what 'Blair and Lucan' were but decided not to mention that and slung the bag over his shoulder. "Well give them my thanks if ya would, take care of yerself Ed." Six said.

"Wait." Edwin said as he picked up an ornate box from behind the bar and placed it gently on the wooden counter.

"We agreed I'd also give you the best drink I had, and I'm a man of my word." Edwin opened the box to reveal a wine bottle with a decorative cork that looked like a rose resting on a bed of straw.

"During my first month of owning this tavern I spent every coin I had to import this bottle of perfectly aged wine from the mist continent, it's my most prized possession and something I had hoped to pass down one day, but I think you've more than earned it." Edwin carefully handed Six that bottle.

Six studied the fancy bottle and noted that writing on the bottle looked like it was written in Chinese, or was it Japanese? Six didn't know.

"While I'm more of a whisky man myself this is very generous of ya Ed." Six said, causing the bartender to grow a face splitting smile.

A smile that was quickly erased as Edwin watched Six break the seal open the bottle and take a generous drink straight from the bottle.

Edwin died a little on the inside.

Putting the cork back in the bottle Six let out a low whistle. "Damn, it may not be whisky but that's good drink, thanks again Ed." Six packed the bottle and gave, fastened his gas mask, and gave a firm pat on Edwin's shoulder. With a tip of his hat Six left the tavern leaving Edwin all alone.

"Yeah…no problem…"

Six left the tavern and began his trek. It took up a large portion of the night but Six decided to take Edwin's advice and head to this 'Lescatie' in hopes of finding a more sure way back to the Mojave. As much as he considered sailing to the desert region Six only had four months until Yes Man initiated the 'lost package' protocol and Six couldnt waste a month's worth of sailing based on a guess.

"Six!"

The courier turned to see Delilah, in her human disguise, approaching him. She also was carrying a traveler's pack.

"Must be on her way out too." Six figured.

"Howdy Miss Delilah." Six greeted.

"Please you don't need to be so formal, just call me Delilah." The disguised demon said sweetly. "I'm glad I caught you. I wanted to tell you I may have a lead on where your home is."

Six's eyebrows shot up. "That so? Well don't keep me in suspense."

"I stayed up all night going over what you told me and I believe your home is a city in the far corner of the desert region, one so far off it's often forgotten about." Delilah lied.

Six raised an eyebrow. "Ya sure 'bout that? Believe me when I say Vegas ain't something ya just forget about?"

Delilah gave the courier a comforting smile. "I'd stake my name on it, in fact I want to visit this place myself, I'm a traveling scholar you see and your home sounds as interesting as you are so I'd love to see it for myself."

Six contemplated what Delilah was saying, it's very convenient that she just happened to remember this little bit of info, the whole situation stunk like brahmin shit.

"Don't suppose ya got some proof to back this up? I need somethin' a little more than 'I remembered'." Six asked.

With no hesitation Delilah reached into her own pack and produced a map in the same foreign writing that Six couldn't read. "This is a map of the desert region, here at the edge describes a place called En-See-Ar, are you familiar with the name?" Delilah knew he was, she remembered him asking Edwin something similar.

Delilah knew Six would be suspicious if she just showed up with a map that led directly to his home, rather if she knew a way to familiar territory he'd be more likely to believe her. And maybe then he'd enter her territory.

Six couldn't read the scribbles on the parchment and still had nothing to go off of other than the woman's word.

Silence hung in the air as Delilah nervously waited for the courier to answer. If push came to shove she'd have to take Six to Druella by force, but she'd prefer to do things the easy way if possible.

Six let out a frustrated grunt. "Goin' through NCR turf is the last thing I wanted to, but at least I know where I'm headin'."

Delilah had to stop herself from jumping up in triumph.

Honestly to Six it made sense. NCR territory shared a border with Mexico which Six could understand why people called it the 'desert region'.

"Guess I know which way I'm goin', now I ain't opposed to kickin' up dirt with ya but I gotta warn ya trouble has a habit to follow me. Ya sure ya wanta travel together."

Delilah had to focus on not shaking with excitement.

"Believe me Six I would love nothing more."

(A/N: And that's chapter 3. This is probably the best time to explain a couple things. First I'm taking some liberties on how I'm portraying Druella and the monsters. I've seen Druella as the ultimate rapist evil in a lot of fics and on the flipside the friendliest most unthreatening demon lord there could be that just wants everyone to get along. I decided to go with my own idea. I'm trying to portray her as a hopeful optimist that has good intentions but puts too much faith that other mamono will follow her ideology, a mamano who believes true love will occur without force or manipulation that values all life. I thought it'd be a neat dynamic that the leader is blissfully unaware of what her subordinates do/think and believes all agree with her agenda. Anyway I just wanted to get that out of the way sorry for the lack of action in this chapter but I want this fic to be more than 'grr guns go bang' kinda thing. To everyone who commented, bookmarked, and liked the story, thank you all so much.)
