Chapter 70

***Webber House***

(Alexis surprises everyone when she comes by the house. Elizabeth lets her in)

Liz: "Hi, Alexis. I take it you have news for us?"

Alexis: (nods) "Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. I approached Judge Heller a few days ago about you and Jason getting custody of Danny. The judge reviewed all the facts and after going over everything, agreed to give custody of Danny to you and Jason."

(Jason and Elizabeth both face each other and grin, embrace, then face Alexis again)

Alexis: "There will be paperwork to be filled out in a few days as the judge wants to make sure Danny is doing okay at his new home. So, what will happen is a social worker will be sent to your house in a few weeks to observe for a few days."

Liz: "Will we need to do anything else besides moving Danny in and getting him settled once you ask him if he wants to live with us?"

Alexis: (shakes her head) "No. I will take care of it. You all just get Danny's room set up. How many rooms are in this house?"

Liz: "Four. Mine and Jason's and three for the boys. Cam has his dorm room unless he stays at the house. Aiden and Jake share a room. Danny would have his own room."

Alexis: "Sounds like everything is falling into place."

Liz: "Thank you, Alexis, for your help."

Jason: "We appreciate it."

Alexis: (nods) "No problem."

(Alexis gathers her things and exits)

***Alexis' Cottage***

Alexis: "Thank you, sweetie, for watching Danny while I tended to his custody case."

Kristina: "What's the update on it?"

Alexis: "Jason and Elizabeth are waiting for papers to sign in a few days. They can then be Danny's legal parents and a social worker will check on them in a few days. I don't see the problem with that as Jason and Elizabeth are great with Danny. I expect the decision will be made within a matter of weeks. In case you're wondering, honey, Jason and Elizabeth have no problem with you being in Danny's life."

Kristina: (smiles) "I'm glad. I get along with Elizabeth, so I figured she would let me see Danny whenever."

Alexis: (chuckles) "You would be right."

Kristina: "I can't help but wonder if Sam will ever see Danny again. I personally hope not as I feel she was a bad mom. I know it's not up to me, though. She just burned that bridge when it came to Danny."

Alexis: "I do agree with you on one thing, honey. Sam was unfit to be a parent in the end."

Kristina: "For what it's worth, I have no problem with Jason and Elizabeth getting custody of my nephew."

(All of a sudden, Danny comes out of his room and into the living room. Judging from the expressions on his grandma and Kristina's faces, he knew that it was a serious conversation he was walking in on)

Danny: "Grandma, what's going on?"

(Alexis and Kristina face each other before Alexis looks at Danny again)

Alexis: "Come here, honey. Let's sit on the couch. I'll explain everything."

(After all three are on the couch with Danny in the middle, Alexis speaks)

Alexis: "Being Sam is not capable of being your mom, Jason and Elizabeth asked to be your parents…your legal parents. You can still see me and your Aunt Kristina whenever you want. If you want to see Franco, you can, as well. How do you feel about everything, honey?"

Danny: "What did mom do that made her go to jail?"

Alexis: (sighs) "She was responsible for kidnapping Mommy Elizabeth as your mom doesn't like Mommy Elizabeth. Your mom wanted to be with Jason. Jason wanted to be with Elizabeth and your mom didn't like that. In the end, your mom got caught and is now paying for it."

(Danny shakes his head in disbelief)

Danny: "How could mom do that to Mommy Elizabeth? Mommy Elizabeth is so nice."

Alexis: (shrugs) "Yeah, well, your mom didn't think so, sweetie. I agree with you that Elizabeth is very nice. Unfortunately, your mom didn't agree. I have a question for you, Danny."

Danny: (nods) "Okay."

Alexis: "How do you feel about Jason and Elizabeth?"

Danny: (smiles happily) "I love Daddy Jason and Mommy Elizabeth. I want to live with them. Can I still visit you, Aunt Kristina or Franco, if I want?"

Alexis: (beams) "I would absolutely love that."

Kristina: (grins) "So would I."

(Danny hugs his grandma and Aunt Kristina)

***Three Days Later***

(Alexis goes to Jason and Elizabeth's house)

Alexis: "I have news for the both of you."

Jason: "Go on, Alexis. We're listening."

Alexis: (beams excitedly) "Not only has Judge Heller agreed to you two having custody of Danny, but I have the paperwork for you two to sign so the proceedings can start."

(Jason and Elizabeth sign as does Alexis)

Liz: "Does Franco need to sign being he's the biological parent?"

Alexis: "Franco signed earlier as he had to agree to a visitation of sorts even though he's the biological parent."

(Jason and Elizabeth thank Alexis. Elizabeth goes a step further and hugs the lawyer. Alexis, Jason, and Elizabeth leave and come back a few hours later with Danny. They all drop off a few suitcases and boxes that he has his things in)

(After a few trips, they are done and now comes the unpacking)

Alexis: "Thank you both for your help."

Jason: (nods) "Anytime."

(Elizabeth bends down to face Danny and grins a bit)

Liz: "As much as I want you here, I want to make sure that you want this, too, Danny. If you don't, we will completely understand."

(As Danny hugs Elizabeth, he speaks)

Danny: "I want this, too, Mommy Elizabeth. I love you and I wanted to thank you for always being there for me."

(Elizabeth kisses Danny's cheek and looks him right in the eyes)

Liz: "I'll ALWAYS be there for you, sweetie."

(Everyone goes upstairs to help Danny unpack his things in his new bedroom)
