Chpt 2. Fight for Dominance
The entirety of the Fairy Tail now stand and watch as the two combatants stand waiting for their duel to start. On one side is Laxus Dreyer, the grandson of the guild master and one of the strongest young mages in the Fairy Tail guild. The other is Natsu Dragneel, a ten-year-old boy with salmon colored hair who just came today. "Master Makarov, will you officiate the match" Natsu asks as he and Laxus start to flex their magic in anticipation. "Of course, Natsu" the old man replied. "This Deul is between the dragon slayers Natsu Dragneel and Laxus Dreyer, the winner of this match will be made the alpha of the Fairy Tail dragon pack, The match will be concluded via knockout or submission, Let the match begin" Makarov shouts to start the duel.
Both fighters' lean breath in and unleash their spells at the same time. "LIGHTNING DRAGONS/FIRE DRAGONS ROAR" they both release a breath attack of their respective elements. The two attacks collide in the middle of the field and explode on contact kicking up a cloud of dust. On the sidelines the rest of the guild is taking bets on who will win.
"I've got 2,000 jewels on Laxus" says and older gentleman with dark blue hair. "I don't know Macao this new kid seems pretty strong so I'll bet 3,000 on him" another man with brown hair smoking on a cigarette. "You're crazy Wakaba theirs no way this new kid beats Laxus" Macao retorted incredulously. "Just watch boys I think Natsu will surprise you both" Makarov says watching the fight intensely.
"FIRE DRAGONS IRON FIST" Natsu screams out as he rushes out of the dust cloud and lands heavy punch to Laxus' face sending him flying back ten feet. "Not bad kid I actually felt that but let me retort" Laxus says as he runs towards Natsu readying his next attack. "LIGHTNING DRAGONS SHOCKING FIST" he says as he punches at Natsu. Natsu simply matches his attack with his "FIRE DRAGONS IRON FIST" as the attacks connect the force of the punches causes a small shockwave to form. Natsu feels a small jolt of electricity shoot up his arm but retaliates regardless.
Putting is other hand on Laxus' chest he intones "FIRE DRAGONS GRIP STRIKE". The onlookers are shocked to see an explosion go off and send Laxus flying back again. But Natsu followed this time and followed up with another attack. "FIRE DRAGONS WING ATTACK" he calls out as he swings his arms and two whips of fire slam Laxus into the ground. Laxus hits the ground with a grunt but manages to get back to his feet and hit Natsu with another spell. "LIGHTNING DRAGONS FIRING HAMMER" he calls out as the releases a beam of lightning from his fist.
The attack engulfs Natsu and a small explosion occurs kicking up another dust cloud. "Heh that's my strongest attack there's no way he's still standing, call the match Gramps" Laxus says as he turns to start walking away. Makarov is about to call the match when they hear the sound of laughter "The fights not over yet Laxus" Natsu says to the surprise of everyone.
The dust clears and everyone is shacked to see Natsu standing there looking bloody but still raring to go. "That was a strong spell you just hit me with but now I'm all fired up" he says as he charges Laxus. "FIRE DRAGONS SWORD HORN" he screams and he engulfs himself in flames and rams head first into Laxus' stomach. Laxus once again goes flying back from the force of Natsu' attack and slams into a tree his vision starting to swim. "I think its time we finish this duel and since you hit me with your strongest attack, I'll have to hit you with one of mine" Natsu says while jumping in the air and lighting both of his on fire. "The flames of my right hand, the flames of my left hand, put them together and this is what you get FIRE DRAGONS BRILLIANT FLAME" he shouts as he forms a giant fireball and launches it down at Laxus. The fireball hits the ground resulting in a huge explosion and a large cloud of dust. As the dust clears it reveals the bloodied form of Laxus barely conscious as Natsu walks up. "Do you submit" he asks the older boy. Laxus simply spits in his opponent's face saying "I never submit". "As you wish then" Natsu says before igniting his fist and knocking Laxus unconscious. As he watches his opponent slump over he feels the shift in his magic indicating that he's the alpha and roars in triumph.
"The match is over the winner is Natsu" Makarov announces as the crowd goes wild talking about how awesome that fight was. Natsu simply picks Laxus up and starts walking toward the Guild Master. "Is there somewhere I can put him so he can recover" he asks the shorter man. "Yes, let me take you to the infirmary his injuries aren't too severe so he should wake up in a couple hours" Makarov says as he walks back into the guild hall with Natsu in tow. They enter the infirmary and Natsu lays Laxus on one of the beds. "Alright now let's get you stamped" Makarov says as they leave and go to the bar.
The duo sat down at the bar and the old master pulls out the guild stamp. "Okay where do you want it and what color" He asks the boy. "Crimson and on my left shoulder please" Natsu says in reply. "Laxus is incredibly strong I was going all out in that fight and its safe it say that if he hit me with another one of those FIRING HAMMERS I would have undoubtedly lost" Natsu admits to the Guild Master. "Yes, he is and I could tell that he was going all out too I've never seen him fight so seriously against an opponent before, but you're plenty strong yourself Natsu" Makarov says in return. "I thank you for your compliment, Master" Natsu says in return. They both get some drinks and engage in a friendly conversation.
Two hours later
Laxus wakes up and sees he's in a bed in the infirmary. As he lays there contemplating his loss, he feels a strange shift in his magic and instinctively knows that Natsu is the alpha dragon now. He gets up from the bed and exits the infirmary and looks around to spot Natsu. Natsu is sitting at a table by himself with a large plate of food when he hears footsteps coming closer to him. He looks up to see Laxus approaching. The whole guild watches in anticipation to see what happens. Natsu stands up as Laxus finishes approaching and the whole guild watches in shock as Laxus kneels to Natsu. "You have bested me in the duel and I acknowledge you as the alpha of the pack, whatever you ask of me I shall do without fail my king" he says as he bows his head and puts his hand over his heart. "Rise brother you need not kneel before me" Natsu says as Laxus stands up. "You put up an excellent fight and if you had hit me one more time after your last attack I would have lost" Natsu says to his fellow dragon slayer.
"Oh, right I have to call my companion who I left in the woods outside of town" Natsu says before whistling using his tamer magic. The guild looks on in confusion before they hear the roar of a wyvern as it comes through the guild front doors. The mages begin to ready their magic and fight before the guild master interrupts them. "Stand down everyone this is Natsu' tamed wyvern" he says. "Tame wyvern?" the guild asks in confusion. "That's right I watched his defeat the beast as it was attacking a small town and after knocking it out, he used his magic to tame the creature" Makarov says with a smirk on his face.
"Wait so Dragon Slayer magic lets you tame dragonkin?" Laxus asks looking toward Natsu. "No, you see I was born with taming magic but when I underwent the Dragon Soul ritual with my father to become a dragon slayer it mutated my magic and thus allows me to tame dragonkin but I'm unable to tame any other type of creature beside dragonkin" Natsu answers. "What's it name?" a random guild member asked. "She doesn't have one yet" Natsu replies. "What about Scála for a name?" says a young girl with scarlet hair as she walks up to Natsu and Laxus. "That's sounds like an excellent name miss" he says as he looks at her.
"My names Erza Scarlett and I must say your bout with Laxus was very impressive, welcome to the guild" the girl says as she introduces herself reaching out a hand for him to shake. Natsu took her hand and turned it over to place a kiss on her knuckles. "A pleasure to you meet you Erza, and might I say that your hair is so beautiful" he says. Erza blushes at the compliment and shyly says "Thank you Natsu". "You're welcome milady" he says with a bright smile on his face.
Laughter echoed through the guild hall as the members of Fairy Tail celebrate the arrival of two new members. Makarov looks on at the people he considers his children with a smile and feels a new sense of contentment at the joy. He can see that with Natsu here that the guild will become even stronger as will the bonds of family they share.

Sorry this chapter took so long to come out between my work schedule and the massive writers block I was going through I couldn't really write this chapter. The word Scála is Irish for scale in case anyone was wondering I plan on making most of the names of Natsu' main tames a different language from my different heritages (which are mostly European) so it should be interesting to come up with them. This was my first real fight scene so if you have any pointers, please leave a review on how I can improve. As always thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it.
