Chapter 4 - Courage, Wisdom, and Power
Link and Zelda sat in quiet contemplation atop a cliff overlooking the serene expanse of Hyrule, basking in the tranquility they had fought so hard to achieve. The gentle breeze stirred their hair as they gazed out at the horizon, lost in their thoughts.
Zelda turned to Link, a faint blush dusting her cheeks as she spoke, "Isn't it nice? To finally have a moment of peace. It feels like an eternity since Hyrule experienced true peace."
Link chuckled softly, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Yeah, it feels great to know all our hard work paid off." Link paused for a moment. "You know, you seem... different, Zelda."
Zelda averted her gaze, a faint smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Oh, Link... You know I'm new to being so... open." Zelda's cheeks flushed a shade of pink at Link's touch, her heart fluttering with warmth. "You know, Link, you're usually so... quiet. It's bizarre hearing you talk so much."
Link scratched his head, a thoughtful expression crossing his features. "I guess this adventure helped me become more social. But, some things are still a bit... fuzzy."
"Fuzzy? You mean your memory?" Zelda noticed his hesitation and placed a comforting hand on his arm. Her expression softened, a note of concern creeping into her voice. "How much do you remember, Link?"
Link ran his fingers through his hair. "Bits and pieces. I remember when we found the Divine Beasts and I recall meeting our friends. Mipha, Revali, Urbosa, and Daruk."
Zelda nodded as she blushed. "And what about me? Do you remember... us?"
A playful grin tugged at the corners of Link's lips. "Oh, I remember plenty. Like the time you nearly got yourself killed... multiple times."
Zelda's cheeks flushed crimson, embarrassment washing over her as she crossed her arms and turned away from Link. "I'll have you know; I can take care of myself, thank you very much."
Link laughed softly. "Hey, I didn't mean it like that. Your recklessness has always been one of your most endearing qualities, Princess."
As they sat in silence, Zelda's look fell upon her Sheikah Slate, a small frown marring her brow as she noticed something odd on her map.
"Link, look at this," Zelda said, gesturing to the map on her Sheikah Slate. "It seems that Vah Rudania has been deactivated. We should investigate."
Link's interest was piqued at the mention of the Divine Beast. "Goron City... Daruk… Yonobo…" he mused, a flicker of excitement dancing in his eyes.
Zelda smiled, her excitement bubbling to the surface. "Yes, exactly! I have fond memories of Daruk. It'll be great to see him and the other Gorons again."
With a shared nod, they mounted their horses and set off toward Goron City, their spirits buoyed by the prospect of reuniting with old friends and facing new adventures.
But as they journeyed through the rugged terrain of Hyrule, their peaceful ride was interrupted by a sudden crash near Hyrule Castle. Curious, they urged their horses onward, hastening to investigate the disturbance.
To their surprise, they discovered an unconscious figure lying amidst the rubble – none other than Luigi, Mario's brother.
"Luigi? What's he doing here?" Link wondered aloud, his brow furrowing in confusion.
Luigi groaned as he began moving, his eyes fluttering open as he took in his surroundings. "Wh-where am I? What happened?"
Link recognized Luigi immediately, his mind racing with questions. "You're in Hyrule, Luigi. But... how did you get here?"
Luigi rubbed his head, trying to piece together his memories. "I remember... Pit told Mario about some multiverse shenanigans. Maybe... maybe that's how I ended up here."
Zelda exchanged a concerned glance with Link, her mind whirling with the implications of Luigi's words. "Somebody's messing with the multiverse? That sounds... troubling."
Luigi thought about it for a bit, then nodded. "From the way Pit described it, it sounded pretty bad. I think it'd be best if we'd team up just in case any threats come our way. You know, if you want…"
Link's gaze hardened with determination as he met Luigi's eyes. "Of course, Luigi. We'll stand with you, no matter what."
Zelda nodded in agreement, her voice filled with conviction. "We may come from different worlds, but we share a common goal – to protect our homes and those we love. Together, we'll withstand whatever challenges approach us."
Before they could react, a sinister presence loomed over them, a figure emerging from the shadows with malice gleaming in his eyes. It was Ganondorf, the Dark Lord of Hyrule's towering form radiating power and malice.
"Ganondorf!" Zelda exclaimed, her voice tinged with defiance. "What are you doing here?"
Ganondorf's lips curled into a sinister grin as he advanced toward them, his eyes locked on Zelda with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine. "I'm here to dispose of you, Princess. And your little hero friend too."
Ganondorf charged at Zelda with a roar, his dark aura swirling around him like a cloak of shadows. But before he could reach her, Luigi leaped into action, delivering a swift kick that sent Ganondorf staggering back in surprise.
Still somewhat nervous but strengthened by his newfound resolve, Luigi turned to Link and Zelda. "I'll help you fight him. I may not be as brave or strong as Mario is, but I won't allow you to hurt innocent people!"
Link nodded in approval, his sword at the ready as he prepared to face their formidable foe. "Let's do this, Luigi. Together."
Link and Luigi charged at Ganondorf, who blocked them both. Link shot three arrows at Ganondorf as Luigi punched him. Ganondorf performed the Wizard's Foot, as Link was sent flying. Luigi and Ganondorf shared blows. Luigi performed a Luigi Cyclone, sending Ganondorf back.
"Now it's time," Luigi yelled, "The little trick I call the ZERO-TO-DEATH!"
Luigi grabbed Ganondorf and butt-slammed him, launching him upward. Luigi then performed a double-foot stomp, chaining it with a flying kick. Luigi performed another double-foot stomp, into an upward kick. Luigi finished the combo with a Super Jump Punch, sending Ganondorf flying. Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf were all taken aback by Luigi's strength.
"I've always known Luigi as the cowardly brother," Zelda whispered to Link, "I never realized he had this kind of strength."
"Yeah, it's actually pretty impressive." Link whispered back.
Enraged, Ganondorf charged up a Warlock Punch. Determined to stop Ganondorf, Luigi performed a downward chop on Ganondorf. The attack was ineffective, as Ganondorf punched Luigi away. Link charged in with a Jump Slash, catching Ganondorf off guard. He then sent Ganondorf flying once more with a fully charged Spin Attack, releasing Urbosa's Fury.
But just as victory seemed within their grasp, Ganondorf's gaze darkened with rage. With a cruel laugh, he abandoned his futile attempts to defeat them, directing his attention to Zelda. With a swift motion, he seized her in his firm grip, hurling her toward a swirling rift that had materialized nearby.
"Help! Link! Please..." Zelda cried, her voice slowly fading as she disappeared into the rift. Link was seething with anger.
Enraged by Ganondorf's cowardly act, Link refused to allow him to escape. With a roar of defiance, he charged at the Dark Lord, his sword flashing in the fading light of the setting sun. Sensing his imminent defeat, Ganondorf escaped, disappearing into the shadows as Link's blade sliced through empty air.
With a heavy heart, Link turned to Luigi, his expression grim with determination. "We must follow Ganondorf. We can't let him escape. We must get Zelda back!"
With their resolve steeled by the bonds of courage, Link and Luigi plunged into the swirling rift as they journeyed into the unknown depths of the multiverse. While they vanished, Ganondorf teleported to the domain of Galeem and Dharkon, his sinister plans set in motion as he delivered Zelda into the clutches of darkness. Zelda was now Galeem's puppet.
