'Why does it hurt so much? There's so much blood.' Geus sucked in the pain he wanted to scream out. His entire body has nonstop waves of pounding pain. His arms just trembled beyond any control, the blood he saw run down them. His own skin was hidden under all the blood.
Through his panic he jerked his head around all that he saw. The rubble, chunks of skyscrapers surrounded him along with dozens of bodies. All of them covered in their own blood, some missing limbs, or their insides sprawled out. It all made Geus want to puke, whatever was inside him wanted an escape.
The bright sun and empty space of sound cleared Geus's mind past the destruction. He started to recognize the bodies around him. Midoriya, All Might, Aizawa, Toga, more and more heros and villains alike. Their lifeless souls left a long time ago, yet he remembered none of this happening.
The surrounding wall, what was left of it he recognized, the wall that kept UA and others safe. Massive holes with their own people unconscious or dead, fire and molten paths led inside their sanctuary. There was no identity of who the culprit was around, no sense of what happened.
"Fumikage!" His scrappy voice screeched out. "Endeavor!" Tears began to run down his face, the first tears he felt since his quirk. "Please! Somebody!" He wept.
He looked down, a blood covered piece of rebar was through his side, and one of his legs was replaced with a pool of blood. He trembled hand reached for the metal. He tried to pull with his remaining strength to no avail. He screamed with his last bit of strength, still the bar didn't move.
"This, this is your last fear." Iroh's voice played out. Not the fake one, but the true one.
"Get the fuck away from me!" The gas stored in his suit exploded out his back. The eruption of rumble echoed throughout. Geus looked up to see nobody there.
"I'm not here, kid." Iroh's existence appeared in front of him. The grin he had was gone, his suit he normally wore was missing and replaced with shabby clothes. Even his nice slick hair was a mess and unkept. "You're dying so now life's existence is passing by. So naturally you see me."
"Fuck off." He tried the rebar again, even though ripples of pain rushed around the wound. "Get the fuck away!"
"It's already, Geus." Bailey grabbed Geus's shoulders. He dragged the panicked weight of Geus to look him in the eyes. "You did good, you did everything that you could. None of this is your fault."
"What the hell is going on? I don't remember any of this happening!" Geus cried. "I just, I just want to go home."
Geus's eyes closed, but gently reopened after a gentle caress around his cheek. "It's okay honey, everything is okay." A woman stood in front of him. Ginger hair braided around her shoulder, silver eyes glistened by the tears stagnant in their pockets.
"Mom." Geus looked around him, his body ached in pain but the injuries weren't there. "Mom, you're dead."
She closed her eyes as she pulled Geus's head into her soft purple sweater. She caressed his hair and ran her fingers through the strands. She hushed him and swayed with him. "I know, it's true I'm not really here. And neither are you, you heard what Iroh said. But I had to see my little boy one more time."
"Why aren't you telling me how much you hate me? That I'm a failure, blaming me for anything."
"Because there's no time for that." She pressed her hand under Geus's chin and lifted it to see her. Her smile was golden to Geus, a sight he never got to see in life. She grabbed the mask from him and dropped it on the ground. "I know how horrible I was to you. How much I placed our family's honor over you and your father."
"Where is father? Why isn't he here with you?"
She twirled Geus around to see the property he grew up on. A half tall solid white stone fence that surrounded a nice small home. Single story with shutters that covered every window. The home he knew as a prison that held nothing but pain and misery. Yet for some reason he saw only peace and promise there.
"He's inside, talking to your grandfather. Do you wish to go inside and say your peace?"
"I don't wish to go back there." Geus shook his head, and unknowingly grabbed hard on his mother's hand. His eyes bulged with fear, instinctively backed away. "There's nothing for me there."
"Did you grow past this, or does your fear overstep your growth?" She asked.
"I don't know. I don't understand any of this."
"That's okay." The voice changed to Kendo's. She pulled on his hand and dragged him down the street.
"I can hear your parents anyways." She was her same age right now but wore the same school outfit from middle school.
Geus looked down at himself as he wore the same outfit he did years ago. He allowed himself to be dragged by his friend. It was dark out and the shouts from his house could be heard all the way to the corner. None of this made sense, the world around him changed again and again.
A park he remembered from his childhood was right around the corner. But that park was about a ten minute walk from his house in the real world. Kendo pulled him into the playground and into one of the cave structures. A dugout hole was in the front with a few beams of open sky on the ceiling. It was a climbable dome with grabbable surfaces all around the outside.
The few parts he remembered of the old days was of this spot with Kendo. Whenever his parents fought inside he escaped to this spot. Of course more yelling was ready for him when he got back. But the hour of peace and quiet was a worthwhile experience. Then one day Kendo started to follow him, even if it was just an excuse to hide from the yelling also.
She tucked her legs up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. Seemingly the sky's darkness slimmed from the brightness of the stars. She rested her head on her legs and smiled shyly at Geus.
"I got accepted into UA." She giggled. "Or at least the tryout for the school. But I'm sure I'll pass whatever they throw at me." She extended her closest arm to Geus and grabbed his hand. "What's your plan? What school are you going to?"
"I don't know. I never once thought of my future before my quirk."
"You got a quirk now? Is that why your parents are yelling so much louder tonight?" Her head sprang up with an energetic smile. "You have to show me it right now!" She gasped. "Take the entrance exam with me! That way I won't break our promise to stay together through all of school!"
"What promise? I don't remember this night."
That smile disappeared as she fell back into her legs. "That's right, I almost forgot you shutdown after your accident. Everything we did as kids, how I swore to protect you no matter what. That we would even get married after I became a pro hero. She looked up to the tunnel. "But you also fell in love with someone else right?"
Geus looked out into the entrance of the dome. It wasn't the night sky of the park. He recognized the spot but what he saw wasn't his own. He could see other UA students surrounding a hallway. Geus looked back to his side but Kendo was gone.
If this was a dream it felt way too real, and one he couldn't escape from. He gulped down whatever held him back and crawled to the entrance. He remembered this panic his body was in, the uneasiness of his breathing. The pain in his brain, the PTSD shutdown he experienced here.
"Just like I taught you, Geus. Just strum the chords, even if you can't feel the bass." Jiro whispered so smoothly. Her hands over his own and moved them through the air.
All of a sudden his heart stabilized, the pain was gone. Even if this was a dream he no longer wanted to leave. This was peace, surrounded by the family he decided was his own. When things were glowing up for him. Jiro rested her head on his shoulder and hummed a light tune.
"Are you feeling better?" Jiro whispered.
"With you. I'm always at peace, no matter what." Geus rested his head on the wall. He smiled, a relief from this nightmare that wouldn't stop.
"So this is what you fight for." The fake Iroh's voice snapped Geus back into action. He couldn't move his arms or legs. He struggled and looked around to see all his friends cling to his body. "Just don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you."
Geus froze at the sight of the little villain with no arms. He didn't look hurt otherwise or bothered without his limbs. "What the hell is all this? This ain't a dream is it?"
"Of course not, you answered Yuki's question and now you're here. It was my final order before I was captured. I have you and so many others trapped in one dream." He chuckled and looked out the straight glass hallway. Geus had no idea what he looked at, whatever he wanted to see from the sun's reflection. "She was so weak you could've killed her when you saw Bailey. But you didn't, you were in too much shock to realize what was around you."
"What is it you want to accomplish? You saw with your own eyes Iroh left nothing behind for you to grasp at."
"It's Ichigo by the way." He turned to see a confused Geus. "My name is Ichigo, it's not Iroh like you remembered. It was annoying that you couldn't remember my name after the year we spent together." He shrugged and moved to be across from Geus. He pressed on the glass and slid down to the ground. "I have no idea how long she can hold the quirk with so many bodies intertwined. She might even rupture her brain at this pace, but we'll see."
"Just tell me what you want." Geus tried to activate his quirk. Yet nothing came out, he was in fact, completely powerless here.
"You said you wanted to go home when I opened your greatest fear. Honestly I was happy you saw your friends as friends. Your greatest fear was losing everything you gained. Friends, a home, a lover. That's my greatest fear too, you know. I think I grasped so hard for that warden because I was afraid to lose everyone. That prison was my only home, the people inside I couldn't lose, I would've done anything to save them."
"So you set them in a path of danger. Sacrificing anyone to fill your dumb ass goals. I wouldn't exactly call that a heroic move."
He chuckled and looked at the girl next to Geus. "I wasn't, I agree with that. It was stupid and got nearly everyone killed from my call. But I kept them safe from All For One. He somehow got into Yuki's mind and told her he would come here and kill everyone, blow the whole place from this existence. Unless we helped him, if a man so powerful All Might couldn't kill said so. It was bound to be true."
Geus huffed and spat at him. "He said the same thing to me, when he had his lackies kidnap me. A mere weapon to use at his pleasure, but I fought back and protected the ones I loved at the same time."
"And that's why I'm not going to kill you here."
Everyone was gone from around Geus, when he looked around he was in a different room. A glass building with a door behind Ichigo. "Come on. You got somewhere you're supposed to be."
Geus looked down at himself in a black tuxedo with a purple rose on his chest. "I haven't experienced this before, I know that for a fact." Geus questioned as he stood up.
"Correct, I tried to show you everything to figure out what you fought for. Was it to go to a past where you didn't know heartbreak? Did you really want to see the whole school destroyed or become the hero? Or was it the classic childhood friend that wanted to protect you, when you wanted to protect her. But this scene is where I saw what you really wanted. So I want to show you a future. A future to fight for."
Geus and Ichigo walked through the door, a nice and clean room surrounded by older versions of his friends. All of them in matching suits and surrounded by a double door. They smiled and nodded as Geus walked through. A slight tune of church music played from the doors.
"Come on man, did you sit down cross legged or something?" Fumikage groaned. He walked up to Geus and straightened the wrinkles from his clothes. "She isn't going to like you dirtying up her greatest day."
Geus looked over to Ichigo confused. "What are you showing me?"
Fumikage snapped his fingers in front of Geus. "What are you looking at? Don't get spaced out now." Dark Shadow appeared from behind and held out a finely decorated box. He pulled open the lid to show a pair of golden rings. One was smaller than the other but both sparkled and glistened. "Just take a deep breath, man."
Geus closed his eyes and rubbed them heavily. When he opened Ichigo stood there in Fumikage's place. "All For One will take all of this away if you don't stop him. I can't take away the panic you feel at every moment but we need you to be stronger. Mentally and physically if you don't break free of your restraints All For One will win. He was so many on his fingers with the threat he will take it all away." He turned to the door. "Once you wake up through that door you will wake up and see for one last time what All For One took from you. If you let this break you here and now, all of you will lose. Relying on everyone else to lift where you fell will cause the world to plummet. I have one trial for you to succeed. So please, do it for all of them."
Geus walked to the doors, afraid of what was on the other side. His hands placed on the door, the music behind it stopped. Replaced with rapid beeps and yelling. Whatever was behind here, Geus didn't want to see. He wanted to run, to turn around, he accomplished his goal to show everyone who he really was. What he grew from and what he could prove. If he lost here and gave up, he left behind what he wanted to.
Geus sucked in the fears and pushed the doors. The yelling became clear, the medical orders from a dozen doctors. Bodies pushed around him and rushed into the room. He looked down at his hands, they were how he went to sleep. The clothes he wore, and the mask he had on, it was everything he went to bed in.
"Geus, thank God, just please go back to your room." Beka tried to push Geus's solid stance back. Her head pressed in his chest as her hands thrusted his shoulders back.
"Come on, you shouldn't see this right now." His grandfather was wrapped around his head and tried to pull him away as well.
Geus felt his quirk was around his body and kept him frozen like a statue. This wasn't a dream anymore, this was real. He inspected the area. He was in the hospital part of UA. The girl that held her child deep to her by the door. That was Bailey's wife, the tears and hushes she gave to her child. It awoke Geus.
"Get out of my way." Geus grabbed Beka and his grandfather. His quirk wrapped around their bodies and solidified them.
He moved around them and ignored their cries. He stepped in the room to see half a dozen doctors around Bailey's bed. His huge body convulsed in his bed, the thrashes and jerks his body did. This was the trail Ichigo spoke of. One last person to die in front of him.
Geus didn't cry, didn't move at the sight. His eyes couldn't even close to blink, he knew he wasn't allowed to look away. In an instant he saw Bailey's eyes shoot open. And that moment held on for as long as it could. Their eyes met and spoke of their time together.
'Don't let him take the rest of my family.' Bailey's mind and his was still connected to what remained of the dream world.
His eyes were open because of the seizing but he was gone at this moment. The long dead beep was the only thing anyone could focus on. The rampage stopped, the yells and the commands went silent. All at once time stood still as the clock was audible with every tick.
Geus didn't know why but he walked over to Bailey's wife. He grabbed hold of the baby while she took everything in. He shoved the baby in one arm as he clenched around her waist. She fell as she felt the embrace he made. The scream she made was a tone shy to crack the glass of the room. All while Geus stood there frozen.
"Jesus Christ, ma'am." Gaz gently grabbed the woman from Geus and placed her on the bench.
Her ear bleeding screams and cries during didn't stop. It was like everything came out when she knew she couldn't hurt her child.
"I did this." Geus whispered. "The stronger I get with every upgrade..."
"Geus please." Gaz grasped his boy's free arm and pulled him into the bench. "I assure you this isn't your fault. This right here is the reason I made you stronger." Gaz clenched on the exoskeleton device. "With this. I spent years building this for me but I know I'm not at the same power level as All For One. "But you, my boy." Gaz smiled through his tears. His smile of relief burned into Geus's eyes. "You're not even wearing your mask right now! Yet your quirk has no influence on life itself!"
Geus hesitantly brushed against his lips. He never realized till now, and not even the realization changed anything. He breathed normally without any toxic fumes, nothing that could hurt another person.
"Son." Gaz gripped Geus's cheek. "A villain only aims to disrupt, they'll never become a god or a ruler of any degree. But we aren't facing a villain anymore. Chisaki, the League of Villains, Iroh's Legacy, they were nothing. All For One is a different breed. He's a fucking Super Villain. He'll destroy Japan, take over the government, rule the economy, and spread his plague over the world. But we, we must stop him."
Geus felt an urge around his hands, nothing he experienced before. The words his grandfather spoke resonated deeper than he thought. The thoughts went wild at the thought of his strength.
"What if the key wasn't the obvious part of my quirk." Geus lifted his hand and focused.
The sensation was weird, like the pores of his skin opened up. Microscopic in level but bigger than any sweat or puss could create. It was faint at first but the purple gas spewed from what he felt. Yet with every second glit grew in speed and thickness.
"To control my quirk at any position of my body. The speed and power I could create. Any wound All For One inflicts, will only make my quirk stronger, every drop of sweat will make me faster."
"Geus, are you alright?" Aizawa asked.
"You kidding me? I'm better than alright."
