I own neither Naruto nor One Piece.
Uchiha Sasuke hated the sky.
His black hair beat against his face and whipped around resembling the vengeful flaps of an angel's wings even as his body turned weightless in a way that could be maneuvered in all three possible dimensions. His tattered cloak gave way to the almighty lull of gravity and thankfully Sasuke had enough coherence left in him to ensure that it did not obscure his vision while being tempted by the gale.
Falling from the sky was an experience that Uchiha Sasuke would rather stay away from. He had felt daunting falls far too many times to properly remember such was his experience as a warrior but the only time he ever recalled falling from such a great height was during his battle with Deidara, the clay-wielding maniac of the then-prominent Akatsuki, and that one single time had been more than enough to sate his desire to reach for the Heavens.
Sasuke Uchiha hated the sky and he hated falling even more.
The openness of the sky that was capable of drowning him in its entirety and his apprehension of its vastness was also perhaps one of the main reasons he had originally gained the Hawk summoning contract. But even with the aid of those magnificent birds, he was more used to flying and soaring through the heavens than falling helplessly like a stone placed in a pond, doing nothing but leaving ripples as it descended downwards into the very depths.
But yet it was surprisingly calming at the same time. The rush of the wind seemed to melt away all his troubles and he enjoyed the relaxing scent of ozone as he felt himself fall through the clouds.
The sky was immeasurable, it was interminable. Whether it was walking home to discover your family had been murdered by your older brother or whether it was betraying the village that had housed your clan for centuries in exchange for power or finding out the truth about his massacred clan— whenever he gazed upwards, the sky was always there.
Try as he might, it held a considerate significance to him that he could not deny despite the bad memories associated with it.
Whether it was when he manipulated the weather to summon his Kirin that would smite all his enemies, or when he summoned the chirping power of lighting to cut through all those who stood in his way…
Whether it was when he summoned his dark flames of Amaterasu who represented the glory of the Goddess of the Sun which burned for seven days and nights or when he used the embrace of the Susanoo to protect himself and his comrades with the divine providence of the God of the Strom or even when he tempted his enemy with sweet whispers of a gentle world which could turn into screams of a dark nightmare with Tsukuyomi which contained the grace of the God of the Moon…
It could not be denied that Sasuke Uchiha was not connected with the vast sky above in ways that could only be explained by fate.
The sky neither judged him nor did it scold him rather it simply witnessed everything in silence. It aided him with its presence alone as empathized with him and as it watched him. The sky never failed him, never tricked him, never lied to him, never manipulated him.
Sadly, he could not say the same for the many, many people he had met in his life.
With but a thought, Sasuke's eyes opened the minute he felt the familiar lull of gravity forcing him toward the earth. And then those frigid dispassionate orbs that mirrored his soul widened in amazement.
He was falling towards a world of blue.
A vast endless expanse of a deep blue marred by the occasional patches of green and brown land engulfed his vision as far as he could see, far beyond what should have been the horizon of his own world. He saw variations of the colour blue of all sizes, all shapes, and shades, some brighter than others, with each possessing its own luminescent glow which Sasuke would later realize was actually the glow of the moons and the stars being reflected to create an ethereal landscape of which he was but a humble spectator. It was a sight that Sasuke would forever remember, a grand festival where the dark heavens met the blue earth in a gentle embrace of beauty and passion.
If there was one thing Uchiha Sasuke would admit, it was that the bird's eye view of this place was beautiful. Not even Konoha, the greatest of the hidden villages was this vast and this lively. Then with but a bitter start, he realized an odd fact.
"When was the last time I considered something truly beautiful?" The question was seemingly open-ended, yet he could not recall. The last time he had seen something of such beauty that left him stunned, was… never.
Then he remembered how he was sent to this world.
He immediately banished his previous line of thought. This line of contemplation world was merely a distraction, an illusion that would prevent him from fulfilling his goal of protecting those he cared about. The last Uchiha's eyebrows furrowed slightly in distaste as he realized that those detestable Otsutsuki had seemingly sent him to an alternate reality. Whatever purpose she had sent him here for was not going to be good, no, he had to refocus his mind on his goal, he had to think back to his objective.
Sasuke righted himself in the air as he decided it was time to figure out where those self-proclaimed gods had sent him for the time being. He was not too worried about Naruto who could handle himself even when faced with gods but still wanted to return to his comrade as soon as possible.
Sasuke bit his finger and muttered out the familiar words, "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
Nothing….
Sasuke wondered why at that moment, he felt as though the blood pumping through his veins had frozen solid. He shook his head and then tried something else, he focused on his eyes to summon his Susanoo in order to use its wings to fly. The barest sensation of power moved through him but in the end—
Nothing….
Sasuke took a deep breath as he ground his teeth together rapidly before he placed his hands in the ram sign while noticing that he was briskly getting closer to crashing into the watery earth below. He proceeded to summon his chakra—
Nothing…
For the first time in a long time, Uchiha Sasuke felt dread.
It was not that Sasuke could not feel his energy but rather as if his chakra was not there at all. It was not as if his chakra had been locked but as if the vast resources of untapped potential that was the mixture of his physical and mental energy did not exist within his body at all.
Perhaps it was sealed or blocked or removed any other way he wanted to put it but the fact was, he could not access it. He even was unable to access the bare minimum needed to perform the leaf-sticking exercise, much less a shunshin.
Color was draining from his face as he tried to force the chakra to enter into his eyes, summoning as much willpower as he could muster, he closed his eyes and opened them again.
His worst fear was confirmed. He did not even have access to the bare minimum needed to activate his Sharingan. No, it was even worse than that, he could not summon his chakra at all no matter how hard he tried.
A bare hint of panic enshrouded his mind for a single second as Sasuke cursed his luck in a thousand different ways, before it was driven away by grim resolve and cold determination. He was a grown shinobi— a shadow who served the Kage, not some amateur academy graduate who would panic at the barest hint of trouble.
"Did they seal away my chakra or was it something else entirely?!"
A form of righteous rage quickly seeped into his mind as he realized that somehow or someway, his chakra had either been sealed or somehow removed entirely. The closest way to describe it would be as though someone had carved a suppression seal unto his flesh, removing chakra from his pathways altogether much less making him unable to access his chakra.
'I will have to deal with this later…' Sasuke thought, 'But for now…'
Sasuke noted that he didn't have the time right now to rage about his chakra being sealed. Once again, he was a shinobi and as such, any means in the book was allowed as long as you got the job done of defeating your opponent. He had no right to complain or bemoan about his circumstances.
Admittedly, he never expected the Otsutsuki to be capable of using a clearly forbidden jutsu to seal his chakra, now all he needed to do was find a way to unravel the seal. But that was something he would not be able to do as when he was falling from the skies without any means to prevent himself from ending his existence in the most pitiful way possible.
He didn't have time to pause and think as he was rapidly descending towards the blue ground covered with deep water, an ocean so vast that, it was almost as though it covered the earth itself.
There were numerous water currents moving about the ocean in ways he had never seen before along with vast islands floating atop it and strangely enough a faint noise that could only be created by humans in the background, but he could neither properly identify them nor could he recognize where he currently was. Yet, he had enough bearing left to realize that if he crashed even into the water at the pace he was going, he would ultimately land as nothing but a bloody smear on the beautiful ocean floor.
His mind sharply weighed his options, finding them miniscule in number as he realized most of what he could do was limited without chakra.
Would he die such a pathetic death? Landing as nothing but a mere smear on the sea?
Sasuke narrowed his eyes and then the image of his comrades and those he loved came to his mind as it had always been doing so ever since his friend Naruto had knocked some sense into him even as he gritted his teeth in frustration.
No, he would not let it end in such a pathetic way. He refused to do so.
With renewed determination, the last Uchiha's attention was immediately turned towards the now deafening noise sound he could hear, so loud that it practically drowned all other sounds around him with its intensity.
The roar was something that had merely been a background sound that had blended in with roaring the noise of the air flying past him merely moments ago and Sasuke could not understand why it had suddenly increased in intensity, almost as if something were getting closer.
His eye narrowed as he turned his head around before it widened in shock and no small amount of awe, a feat that spoke for itself with all the strangeness he had witnessed in his life.
It was a stream of water…
A stream of water that was accelerating upwards against gravity, with enough pressure and force to rival even some of the most impressive S-ranked water jutsu he had seen before in a manner that made him question his understanding of nature…
The stream soared through the air as if it were piercing through the Heavens with enough pressure to resist and overcome the pull of the planet below and reach Sasuke who was easily tens of kilometres above the ground with a size wide large to engulf even the Hokage Tower in its entirety and enough power left to tear through any ship that he knew of with pressure alone. It was a phenomenon unseen and unheard of throughout the entire Elemental nations and defied all laws he knew of by challenging what he thought was naturally possible.
But his surprise did not last long for he was a shinobi through and through, and the true measure of a competent shinobi was his ability to adapt to any circumstances. His sharp eyes narrowed as he carefully inspected the phenomena before him even as his mind raced at the speed of light in order to find a way to escape his imminent demise.
His black eyes narrowed, as he immediately spotted some sort of contraption— a crudely made ship, he realized upon further careful inspection that almost seemed to be a raft with enormous logs bound together and black sails with an insignia of three menacing skulls atop three intersecting bones— ascending into the sky by riding on the stream, a practice that should have been impossible in a normal world.
But Sasuke failed to summon any awe for this new method as he quickly realized that he would still end up falling straight to his death unless he found a way to solve his current predicament.
As though a switch had gone off in his head, Sasuke found the perfect answer to his question.
Still falling from the air, the Last Uchiha twirled his body into a somersault and dived towards the ship. Years and years of honing reflexes, agility, dexterity, and athletics were the only things that mattered as he swallowed the lump he did not know he had in his throat.
He felt the cold mist created by the stream wet his spiky black hair as he drew closer and closer, he'd clearly have to dry himself afterward, but that was not the topic on his mind as he righted himself with all the strength he could muster and he zeroed in his eyes on his target before stretched out his hands like a dancer leaping into the hands of his partner.
His hands just barely managed to find their mark, forcefully grabbing onto the mast of the flying ship, creating a forceful stop to his harsh descent.
It would only be much later that Uchiha Sasuke would realize the insane fact that he had saved his own life by catching a ship that was riding the knock-up stream while mid-air.
His plan was almost perfect, except for one minor detail. He did not account for his own strength being supplemented by the force of gravity and the speed at which he had been descending from the sky which was almost equivalent to that of a civilization-ending meteor crashing from space. Anyone with a basic understanding of physics would clearly understand the implications.
"Captain Teach! There's a guy hanging from the mast of our ship!"
"This isn't a time to joke, you idiot! We still have to chase after those straw hats. What the hell just happened?"
"Where the hell did he come from? Damn it! We're losing control!"
"Damn! We're going down!"
His onyx eyes glanced toward the occupants of the ship as he noted that there were men of all shapes, sizes, and colours in extravagant forms of outfits, all of which he had never seen before fumbling about upon the deck. Cannons lined up one after the other alongside barrels that reeked of booze and strangely enough cherry pies that were strewn about in a haphazard manner with no order and arrangement in sight.
Between the blaring sound of the alarm, the resounding thuds of footsteps, and echoes of yells; Uchiha Sasuke quickly discarded his tattered cloak that had somehow stuck itself on the mast of the ship before he started sneaking away from the sight of these men as quickly as he could. It was almost insultingly easy for him to escape the poor excuses for the watchmen who guarded the ship.
They never bothered to look up after spotting him once, nor did they ever detect his presence after he moved away. He could have as well assassinated all of them without any of them being the wiser and been on his merry-way in minutes. But then again, they were surprisingly casual about the entire situation, almost as if they were sure nothing in the world could actually hurt them. Sasuke did not know yet, whether this was confidence or arrogance and neither was he keen on knowing.
There was just one fact the Uchiha quickly noted. No one had chakra.
It was unfathomable for someone who had lived his entire life believing that every single living thing in existence possessed chakra to live, and without that energy, nothing could exist. Albeit, knowing that Chakra had been given to mankind by the Sage of Six Paths in his own world, did serve to reduce the shock factor. It was all the confirmation he needed to realize that he certainly was no longer in the Elemental Nations.
"Get off our ship, you imbecile!"
Sasuke snapped out of his thoughts once he spotted a rapidly moving bearded man with dark skin and a massive build with a round body alongside relatively thin limbs shouting at him even as he picked up what appeared to be a cannonball with bare hands and threw it at him casually.
Apparently, he had not escaped their notice as he had initially assumed. He dodged out of the way with a start noting that its speed far exceeded that of sound even though it was thrown without being augmented by chakra, only to notice another one heading straight at him.
Sasuke realized that these strange people around him were content with staring at him, though most of them however had picked up whatever weapons they could. It was both annoying and discomforting.
'I'm drawing too much attention to myself…' Sasuke realized that he needed to gain information just as the ship shuddered and trembled, finally experiencing the full impact of his momentum which had not yet coursed through the ship because of how fast recent events had taken place.
Not even a fraction of a second had passed since he had caught this ship and the impact of his momentum was already showing. Sasuke was a genius, but he was sure even Naruto would be smart enough to realize that when a flying ship riding on an aerial water stream started spinning haphazardly, it was most definitely not a good sign.
The flying contraption of wood twirled in the air like a shuriken of the gods and all the while, the black-haired teen struggled to hold on to his bearings as the ship spiraled out of control.
His icy dispassionate eyes glared at the creaking ship he had caught on to, and more specifically, he was irritated at the constant shouting from its occupants he could feel stabbing at his ears. He wondered how long would their attention on him last when there were more obvious concerns that they should address…
As though answering his question, the flying contraption trembled and spiraled into a mad ascent, clearly no longer being maneuvered by any sentient creature, its side slammed into the harsh stream of water with enough force to completely loosen the Uchiha's grip on the wooden floor, sending him falling away from the doomed watercraft.
CRASH!
Sasuke was almost glad that he lost his grip as he watched the ship tremble and wobble as it almost capsized and crashed into the stream with pressure to send an explosion of water right at him. The hundreds of thousands of gallons of water that were sent his way reminded Sasuke of his Tobirama and his water techniques, though possessing neither the power nor the control as those deadly jutsus of his for it did nothing but further wet the already damp clothes he had and could not otherwise harm his skin. However, the force of the explosion did end up propelling Sasuke plunging through the air once more without any semblance of control. Only this time around, he had nothing left to grab.
And thus, Uchiha Sasuke realized an amusing fact.
He hated the sky, yet he hated falling even more. He hated falling so very much.
Twelve days...
That was how long Sasuke had stayed in this strange new world where he had been dumped by the cruel mechanisms of those wretched Otsutsuki, who for the sake of victory had desecrated reality itself.
That was how long Sasuke had moved from place to place, with neither sleep nor food, continuing his mission till the point of near exhaustion. A feat that spoke volumes of his endurance that had been tested as never before for even the Fourth Great Ninja War had not lasted for such a period of time, with neither sleep nor rest honoring him with their presence.
These twelve days had been dedicated to research and recon using every means at his disposal after he had managed to swim to the nearest shore which had been quite a bit away even by his wrapped standards. Research of all sorts and kinds that had left him with a more adequate knowledge of the workings of the world. These remaining days had been utilized to the fullest.
Irrespective of which, within the twelve days of Uchiha Sasuke's arrival in a new world, he had proved that he possessed the ability to become the greatest infiltration specialist in Konoha. He had successfully entered and exited several high-ranking government buildings in this world to obtain confidential information on several accounts, so far without getting caught. He had taken great pains to ensure that everything he did couldn't be traced directly back to him, and as such to ensure maximum confidentiality in his actions.
He now looked towards his destination feeling somewhat content as he had fabricated the backstory of his existence, possessed a passable knowledge of the affairs of the world and its numerous organizations, had checked medical records of this world to protect himself from the new diseases which this world was bound to contain, and now possessed ample amount of knowledge which could count as barely acceptable as his standards. Sasuke was now, at the very least, content with his competence to conduct himself in the world.
He was, however, now thoroughly exhausted. He'd been sneaking from place to place and island to island on stolen ships, something which had led him into several chases due to originally being unable to navigate properly, but he had not stopped once to eat or to sleep. He had been fighting for days on a chase with literal Gods on his trail before he was sent to this world, and upon arriving here he had spent another three days without food or water. He was starving and he was tired.
All he had confirmed from the troublesome ordeal he had faced when he had just entered this world was that he still possessed, at least to some extent, his high durability and innate physical strength. He had crashed into the sea from several kilometres above the ground at breakneck speed and other than the painful stinging he could still feel from his back, he was otherwise unharmed.
At the very least, from the days of research that had followed after his disastrous crash into this world, he had been able to deduce some amount of information about his situation.
'I am in a world massively populated by monsters, tyrants, and idiots.' Those words were the only thing that came to the black-haired teen's mind after he had effortlessly broken into a marine base and had spent several hours combing anything and everything he could find under the labels of history, geography, government, and literature.
It was not common knowledge, but the Uchiha brain was capable of rapidly assimilating information at a rapid pace, and those with the Sharingan activated also gained a very high chance of developing an eidetic or photographic memory. This was because the Sharingan slowed down the perception of time and allowed vivid clarity needed to be able to copy jutsu and techniques, as such, their brains were hardwired to be capable of absorbing information at a more rapid pace.
It was something he had put to great use as he had piled up books to his side as soon as he had entered the marine base, reading everything he could find, sparing no topic, no page left unturned.
'So much information…' Sasuke thought, 'All of it, available for free through local newspapers, and then there's this…' There was no small amount of amazement within him, as in the Elemental Nations, Shinobi guarded information with their lives. Even the tiniest slip-ups could lead to the destruction of an entire hidden village.
He had discovered that he was on a remote piece of land which was one of the smaller islands around Jaya, which belonged to the first part of the ocean known as the Grand Line. He had also discovered, much to his surprise that this world was greatly vaster than anything he had experienced back home.
A world whose surface was surface was dominated by the Blue Sea, a body of saltwater broadly divided into quadrants— the East Blue, the West Blue, the North Blue, and the South Blue formed by two natural barriers that bisect the world at roughly perpendicular angles.
These barriers were individually known as the Grand Line, a relatively narrow strip of ocean infamous for its unnatural climates and monstrous wildlife —as well as being enclosed by regions absolutely barren of wind drafts and water currents known as the Calm Belts and the Red Line, a huge and perhaps mostly barren landmass that functions as the world's only true continent.
The general geography and the rapidly shifting climate itself were occurrences state that could not be found naturally, breaking every semblance of familiarity with what was considered common within the Elemental Nations, at least the extremities there were constant rather than disasters that sprung without warning. Even Sasuke would have likened these shifts in climates to some powerful jutsu, if not for the fact that chakra did not exist in this world.
Even more diverse were its people, distinct in both shape and form which were separated into Races, groups of sentient beings that share distinctive physical traits and propagate through natural reproduction. Many races coexist in this world with some even claiming to be originating from the moon and beyond, a claim that had to be investigated.
But geography and anthropology were not all that Sasuke was interested in. These people had queer abilities which could not be disregarded even though chakra did not or even perhaps could not exist in this world.
People of this world were capable of physical and mental feats of strength that far outclassed what humans of his own world could do without the usage of chakra augmentation. And then there were these Devil Fruits which sounded suspiciously similar to mutated chakra fruits and the rumoured Haki which Sasuke had heard only whispers of…
It had taken him a while at first, but Sasuke was steadily getting used to this world and its strangeness which at times seemed even more exaggerated than that of his own.
For now, though, he needed to figure out a way to unlock his chakra and even he still needed to be able to find a way back home. He did not have any techniques that could allow him to get back, so his goal, for now, was to get a base of operations until he regained his chakra, and then figure out a way to return home.
Of course, he had the liberty to take as much time as he needed. Currently, he was more concerned about returning home than he was about Naruto's battle with those Otsutsuki which should have long been settled by now.
Sasuke simply smirked, triumph flashing through his mind as his slender fingers slowly, gently rose, and brushed against his left eye hidden behind his bangs. An eye that shined blue, a shade of cerulean blue that reminded Sasuke of warmth and sunshine.
Uchiha Sasuke knew the meaning of sacrifice. He knew that sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you're not really losing it. You're just passing it on to someone else. Dreams do come true but only if you are prepared to sacrifice everything else for it.
His older brother had sacrificed everything for his village, a mere eye seemed trivial compared to that.
His Amenotejikara allowed him to switch the special coordinates of two separate objects and Sasuke had never felt more grateful to the old Sage than he had at the moment he switched his own eye that contained the Rinnegan with that of Naruto.
It was a victory in all but name. His last blow should've mortally wounded one of their otherworldly opponents and even when exhausted and chakra-deprived Sasuke alone was more than capable of handling an Otsutsuki by himself. It would be a trivial matter for Naruto who far eclipsed him in raw power to deal with the arrogant self-proclaimed gods with the power of the Rinnegan at his disposal that remained, especially now that he was aware of their trump card.
Though, his major concern now was a lack of goal, a dream to strive towards. He had always had a dream to complete, an ambition he must achieve at all costs whether it be avenging his lost clan or bringing about the peace his brother so desired. He refused to wander about without meaning and direction, and as such, he had to decide on his next course of action.
"For now, I must first investigate the history of this world, obtain relevant information and then proceed from there," Sasuke muttered slightly as he closed the book he was reading, and carefully placed it back into its place. Now, all he needed was to proceed forth with his investigations.
This world was a strange place and Sasuke was content to let it be so, if not for the traces of the Otsutsuki intervention he had found buried across known history.
Look underneath the underneath.
That was what his sensie had taught him and Kakashi was many things but a fool was not one of them. Sasuke had always taken his teaching to the heart even at the beginning when his better judgment was clouded by revenge, he was not about to stop now…
A shinobi such as Sasuke whose skills could not be said to be inferior to any infiltration specialist in Konoha knew how to identify the signs of subtle information manipulation meant to fool the masses for Danzo and the shadows of Konoha had hidden the truth about his own clan using similar ways. He knew and was intimately familiar with the ways larger organizations covered the facts that they wanted to and diverted the attention of the ignorant masses towards distractions often created by themselves in order to conceal harmful truths.
The subtle lack of concise figures in the books narrating history, the intentionally misrepresented facts presented in the newspaper that covered the truth under strawmans alongside subtle misdirections, and the propaganda of the world government with discrepancies in actual statistics. The list of inconsistencies was virtually endless and so were the number of truths that the world government was hiding, some obvious ones about major incidents that were hidden from the world such as Ohara, and some so subtle that even he could not decipher their true nature and the intent behind them such as the facts pertaining to this void century.
Sasuke's sharp eyes coldly noted them all…
Besides, these obvious coverups were not the only things worth investigating, there were other strange truths that called for his attention.
The fact that some of the races were said to have originated from the moon, having descended upon Earth because of a shortage of resources reminded him of Hamura's descendants on the moon of his world.
The similarities between chakra fruits and devil fruits which were known to grant abilities upon consumption, an act that Sasuke witnessed before in the form of Otsutsuki consuming chakra fruits in order to obtain potent powers.
Moreover, other than some minor changes which could be attributed to the passage of time and variation in ethnicity the language spoken in Elemental Nations was almost the same as that spoken here in an entirely different world.
This world was connected to his own, this Sasuke was certain of and he knew he would get to the bottom of all this.
"Hey! How did you get in here?"
Sasuke silently swore at himself, cursing the ineptness that allowed him to not have noticed that someone had entered the marine office he had illegally broken into. He glanced around and realized that outside was rising daylight, though he could have sworn it was midnight when he broke in.
'How long have I been here?' He had gotten carried away by his own research and was now stuck in quite the situation.
Sasuke glanced over to the source of the voice. It was a young man clad in a white uniform, he noted that he was clearly in his early twenties. His glasses stared at him with suspicion, even as his green eyes twinkled with annoyance while he stared at him with no small amount of anger. He had on what he knew to be the standard marine uniform standard, consisting of a white shirt emblazoned with the emblem of their organization. Of course, the absence of the emblem on his indicated that he was not an officer of considerable rank.
"Are you one of the marines stationed at this outpost?" Sasuke already knew the answer, he just needed to distract him long enough to make a swift escape.
The young man gave him a look that made him feel stupid. "No, of course not! I am the Queen of Totto Land, an Emperor of the Sea!"
Sasuke paused; the response had been completely unexpected "Was that sarcasm?"
The man took a long look at him and then shook his head before sighing "Just my luck. I got stationed in a remote posting away from the headquarters even though it was near Jaya, but sadly my headquarters was invaded by an unknown individual who is not too quick on the uptake. Such misfortune, I think my luck is cursed…"
Sasuke tilted his head, this black-haired individual was starting to remind him far too much of Shikamaru who had a penchant for saying similar things and bemoaning about how 'troublesome' the world was at regular intervals.
"Look man, whoever you are, I would have normally let you go since you did not hurt anyone and this base did not contain classified information but I cannot let this slide. This goes two ways, one, you return whatever it is you stole, and I let you walk out of here with a warning, two, you refuse and I set the entire marine armada stationed here upon you faster than you can blink."
Sasuke locked his gaze on the man, nonchalant nature still in place as he spoke in a dull tone "I did not steal anything. I came here in search of information."
The man gave him a skeptical look and glanced at the books around him, records of past newspapers and marine logs. "You expect me to believe, that in this day and age, a grown man broke into a marine outpost in the dead of night, to read books that he could have found in any general library?"
The last Uchiha tilted his head as though he couldn't understand why he was so skeptical; the records and newspapers were available at public libraries but Sasuke wanted to see their original untampered versions. "Yes."
"Wow. I guess you really can find anything in the grand line. That's really something."
Puru…Puru…Puru…Gacha…!
"This is Marine General Outpost S9, how may we be of service to you?"
Sasuke's eyebrows rose which was the equivalent of most people's jaw-dropping as he spotted the man holding and tinkering with a snail which he now recognized as a cellphone in hand.
"This is the Jack Tylor, Seaman First Class, I've got a lunatic who broke into the place claiming he here came to read."
Sasuke didn't need to hear any more; the echoing laugh of disbelief over the phone was more than enough mockery for one day. He dashed towards the man, swiped the snail from his hands, and landed a swift painless chop to the back of his neck that instantly knocked him out before he could even react. He calmly then placed the man on a nearby chair as he closed his eyes and sighed. He meant the man no harm, but he could not let himself get caught by any law enforcement agency when he technically did not exist. If this world was anything like his, he'd be captured, interrogated, and if found wanting, killed.
He walked away before casting a last glance at the man's unconscious form. Apparently, not all marines were bad people.
This chapter was inspired by the first chapter of The Devil's Dark Knight I would recommend this fanfic to all Sasuke lovers. Another thing I wish to say, I know many must have been disappointed by the nerf I forced upon Sasuke but it was necessary for the story.
Sasuke is an equal peer of Naruto who could tank a beam that cleaved through the fucking moon in a lower form and if he had the Rinnegan or his Chakra, then he would've been simply too strong for One Piece. The loss of the Rinnegan was needed to ensure that Naruto defeated those Otsutsuki and to make ensure that Sasuke could not simply teleport back to his world. It gave a closure to the prologue, I guess.
I apologize for the nerf, but I would rather use a logical reason to nerf Sasuke than to have him at full power and not one-shot the Yonko for the sake of the story alone. If you do not like it, then you are not obligated to read this anymore.
And to those who asked, Sasuke will not be eating any devil fruits.
These first two chapters together formed the prologue, the real story will begin from now onwards.
Thanks for reading.
