Roman was humming while fixing Markie's breakfast tray. Yesterday had been a good first day with this new arrangement. She had been absolutely delicious in that bikini, and they had shared a hot moment out by the pool. He had let her nap until lunch, and then they had spent the day watching movies and talking. He had to fight the urge of taking her to his bedroom for the night. She wouldn't be given that privilege until he was absolutely sure he could trust her and that she loved him like she was supposed to. She would reach that point. There was not a doubt in his mind.
"Gotta feed my princess," he mumbled.
He picked up the tray and walked towards the library. Markie's screams of pain suddenly tore through the place. He dropped the tray and sprinted towards the library.
"Markie!" He yelled.
He unlocked the door and found her curled up on the floor in pain. He ran to her and dropped to his knees.
"What's wrong? Talk to me, princess," he said.
"It hurts!" She said through gritted teeth.
She was holding on to her right side. Clearly something was hurting inside her stomach. It couldn't be food poisoning since he had eaten the same things as she had yesterday.
"Maybe you just need to sleep a bit. Let me help you to bed," he said.
"Help me!" She grabbed his wrist.
"I can't take you to a doctor," he said.
"Then bring one here," she said. "Please, Roman."
He could see in her eyes that she really needed help. He took out his phone and called Paul. Markie kept crying in pain in the background while Roman explained to Paul that something was wrong and they needed his help. Paul told Roman not to move Markie just in case, and that he would be there soon. It only took 10 minutes, and then Paul came running into the room.
"Where does it hurt?" Paul asked. "Let me see."
Markie removed her hands and Paul pressed down on the area. When he let go, she screamed in pain.
"Fuck!" Paul looked at Roman. "It's her appendix."
"What does it do?" Roman asked.
"It needs to get out," Paul said.
"No, she just needs to sleep a bit," Roman said.
"Roman, if her appendix bursts, she dies," Paul said.
"I can't take her to the hospital," Roman said.
"Give her a pill to make her drowsy," Paul said.
"I'll take whatever the fuck you want me to as long as you get me help!" Markie yelled.
The two men looked at her, and then Roman finally nodded.
"Okay," Roman said. "You better have some good stuff with you, wise man."
"Don't I always?" Paul smirked.
Paul opened his bag and took out a bottle of pills.
"Help her up in bed while I get her a glass of water," Paul said.
Roman picked up Markie who kept crying in pain. Paul came back and handed Markie a pill and a glass of water. She quickly swallowed it and watched Paul lean closer to Roman.
"It won't take long," Paul whispered. "These pills are some of the best stuff on the market. Someone her size would die from 5-6 pills. Maybe 10-12 pills for your size."
"I don't care," Roman said. "You're going with us."
Markie blinked slowly a couple of times and started breathing slower. She wasn't crying in pain anymore. She looked half asleep but was still somewhat awake.
"Help her out in the car," Paul said.
Roman picked up Markie and carried her out to his car. He placed her in the back seat and looked at her for a few seconds.
"I don't like this," Roman said.
"She doesn't know what's up and down right now," Paul said.
"Keep it that way," Roman said. "I don't like surprises."
