Chapter Seventeen: Another Glimpse

"No!" Adeline screamed with tears streaming down her face, shield going up between the ones dueling.

She glared at Evan and Barty as they raised their wands to her.

"You owe me a favor," she reminded them. "No questions asked and never to be spoken of again. This is it. Walk away."

The two disappeared and Adeline's hand went to her stomach, the smallest of bumps not visible under her robes. She turned her head, watching as Sirius stared at her in confusion as James looked on in understanding. She swallowed thickly as she saw Clarissa coming out of the house that the two had been protecting. Her heart dropped at the sight of her and more tears poured down her face. Adeline turned on the spot, disappearing.
