Hey, another chapter!

This is a sequel to my previous chapter "Cold Tune"

as usual, I do not own Fairy Tail or it's characters, all rights go to Hiro Mashima

Chapter 5: Blazing Tune

Makrov was back on the stage, calling out the next performer.

"Thank you for that spectacular triet Gray, Leon, Juvia. Now for our the next entertainers, please welcome the famed Sky Sisters!"

The crowed exploded with cries and applause. The duo of Wendy and Chelia had been getting popular over the past few years. If they wanted to, they could quit being mages and perform full-time. Of course, that wouldn't happen because they love their guilds too much.

Their song was pop-ey and they used a lot of cute steps and hand gestures to add to the personality. In the end, their applause was the largest out of anyone's.

"Beautiful performance, thank you Ooba-chan for giving us such a wonderful duo." Makrov announced, tearing up. "Next up... OH KAMI! This is surprising..."

Natsu had a bad feeling. He knew that Gray was probably forced into this event. That probably meant he was also forced into it. The area started heating up a bit from the dragonslayers' nervousness, and many of the audience moved away from him.

"NATSU DRAGNEEL."

Said fire mage sighed, and begrudgingly walked up to the stage. He would get revenge on whoever pulled this stunt later. For now, appease 6 guilds.

"Alright everyone, this song is called 'Time of Your Life'" he said trying to get things over with.

Natsu requiped a guitar and started playing a street bard sounding chord-arpeggio progression. After 8 bars he started singing:

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road

Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go

So make the best of this test, and don't ask why

It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable

But in the end, it's right

I hope you had the time of your life

Many Fairy Tail mages recognized the meaning behind the words. 'A turning point' being when the guild disbanded all those years back. Natsu was singing about how the members should go on and let life direct them, but never forget the good memories made during their stay at Fairy Tail.

So take the photographs and still frames in your mind

Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time

Tattoos of memories, and dead skin on trial

For what it's worth, it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable

But in the end, it's right

I hope you had the time of your life

Many Fairy Tail members were crying, this being the song version of the guild's famous parting speech. Erza and Lucy were feeling particularity guilty. They forced the man to bring up a rather sad time. They would have to apologize later.

It's something unpredictable

But in the end, it's right

I hope you had the time of your life

It's something unpredictable

But in the end, it's right

I hope you had the time of your life

Natsu finished with a slowing down of the arpeggio and a single strum at the end. Despite the sad implications of the song, it was still good guitar playing and singing.

The singer hastily exited the stage, not even staying around for the applause. He could hear the sobs of his family and it hurt. He had brought them into that state with his music.

The fire mage sat down and put his guitar away. How he had learned to requip? By studying Erza of course. He had seen her use the magic so much that he eventually picked it up.

"Natsu-san?" a familiar sky dragon slayer call, approaching him.

"Oh hey Wendy! Great performance you did with Chelia." Natsu greeted.

"Thank you, it means a lot."

The younger mage sad down, and the two just chilled next to eachother.

"Natsu-san..." Wendy began, "That song of yours was really good. So much emotion, brought everyone to tears."

"I know Wendy, I can hear. I made them all cry."

Wendy frowned. This un-energetic attitude coming from her friend did not suit him. She needed to cheer him up somehow.

"You know, instead of beating yourself up for making people cry, you can work to bring more joy to them." She said, stroking the salmon hair.

"What are you getting at here Wendy? Just cut to the point, you know I don't like indirectness."

"I want you to play your guitar with the Sky Sisters next time."

Natsu's eyes widened. He never expected this to be an offer he would ever get. He had only picked up the guitar after the war as a way to cope with his brother, E.N.D and all the other chaos. Never would he have thought that he could actually play semi-professionally.

"I know you don't lie or joke Wendy, are you serious?"

Wendy giggled, "Of course I am Natsu-san. You were really good and all the ladies would love to see you on stage."

Natsu jumped from his chair, "You bet! I'll bring in loads of fans for ya!"

They both shared a laugh, it was good to be not-so dejected anymore.

"Oh and by the way, Lucy wanted to sign you and Gray up. Erza is the one who sealed the deal."

The pink-haired dragon slayer grew a tick mark on his forehead. He then quickly ran off to either tell Gray or punch his bombshell teammates.

Wendy giggled again, looking at where he left to. She was really happy, she effectively got him into the music scene and in her group no less! This was an excellent opportunity to spend more quality time with her favourite dragon slayer.

Scratch that, this was a perfect opportunity to win him over.

Lucy best be ready for some heavy competition.

How was it?

The song was 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)' by Green Day, go check it out!

I originally thought to make Natsu do Celtic music, but it didn't really fit him too well. Then I thought of American bard-like songs and yeah, it worked. Reason for the Celtic was actually the Fairy Tail soundtrack. The music sounds a lot like Celtic rock and if you compare the main theme with Natsu's themes, they sound very similar in style.

Bit of hinted NaWen at the end.

Review and have fun!!
