Chapter 6: Showdown at pewter gym
once Ash and misty are at the outskirts of pewter city they decide to sit on some rocks so they can take a quick rest after their traveling through viridan Forrest during this a man turns to them and telling them that their sitting on his merchandise.
"oh sorry sir." misty said to the man
"You sell rocks?" Ash asked the man
"I do and my name is flint say are you two Pokémon trainers?" Flint asked
"We are." Ash and Misty said at the same time.
"follow me I'll take you to the Pokémon center." Flint said
Ash and misty follow flint to the Pokémon center once there they decide to have their Pokémon checked at the center once the nurse took their Pokémon for treatment Ash and misty spot a poster promoting the Pokémon league.
"This will be a great first step on my journey to become a Pokémon master." Ash said
"It's definitely a great start." Misty agreed
while looking at the poster Ash gets an idea and turns to misty and asks her a question.
"will you take the gym challenge misty?" Ash asked.
Misty is taken aback by this question as she hasn't thought of it before but after thinking about she comes to a realization that if she does compete in the league it would be a good way to get back at her sisters so misty turns to Ash and smiles.
"I think I will." She responded to her friend
"great." Ash said
after this Ash and misty are called to collect their Pokémon which after collecting them misty suggest some training since Ash doesn't have any Pokémon good against rock types which Ash agrees to and so a training session begins.
During this session Misty's metapod evolves into butterfree and Ash's pidgey is able to learn twister and eevee learns baby doll eyes after this training session misty and Ash head to pewter gym.
Once their Ash asks if he can go first and misty agrees to this once inside the person sitting on the rock introduces himself as Brock the gym leader.
"which one of you is going first?" Brock asks
"I am." Replied Ash
"eevee." eevee said
"How long have you been with that eevee? Brock asked
"about 2 weeks." Ash replied
"very well the match will be a two on two and I choose geodude." Brock said as he threw out a Pokeball and a rock with arms appeared
"Well I choose beedrill." Ash said as he threw his pokeball and beedrill popped out ready for battle.
The battle starts with Ash calling for a poison sting hoping to poison the geodude which succeeds catching Brock off guard but he shakes it off and calls for rock throw to which ash calls for a furry cutter which cuts through the rocks and hits geodude and due to the poison geodude is knocked out.
"I'm impressed with how well you've raised your Pokémon but this isn't over yet." Brock said as he called for an onix which appeared.
Ash called for beedrill to use furry cutter which connects but onix retaliates with rock throw knocking out beedrill.
"Alright eevee it's your turn." Ash said to his partner
"vee!"eevee shouted as she made her way to the battle Ash calls for baby doll eyes and then a quick attack onix try's to counter but eevee is to fast and hits onix and after 30 minutes of onix trying to hit the speedy eevee, eevee manages to knock out onix.
After this Brock walks up to Ash and hands him the bolder badge and Ash thanks Brock and then celebrates with eevee and beedrill before making his way to the stands to watch Misty's battle.
Misty is able to easily beat Brock thanks to her staryu and starmie and obtains the bolder badge.
Flint arrives at the gym and reveals himself as Brock's father and tells his son to follow his dreams and with that Brock joins misty and ash on their journey as the trio make their way towards cerulean city.
