Chapter 32: More Bluffing
Third's person POV
Meanwhile, during the daytime, Sam and Jacques still continue on their way to find Ursa.
Any signs of her?" Sam panted, after jumping another branch.
"Negative," Jacques flew beside him, flapping. "Man she can't be this hard to find, she's the only white komode bear in this entire forest.
"Yeah, her white spot could be seen easily," Sam then looked down at his stomach."When we get back to the city, remind to lay off some nuts and popcorn.
"Sam there is no time.." Jacques rolls his eyes but they both hear someone talking and they both look down. To their relief Ursa was just passing through underneath the branch Sam was on. Without thinking they both run down, well Jacques flies down and quickly land in front of the white bear.
"Hey wait! Wait!" He waves his arms out to get her attention. Ursa stops her track and looks around, to find that voice.
"We're down here." She'd glances down at saw Sam and blinked in surprise.
"Oh, there you are," Another critter that was following behind peek over to see why the bear stopped.
"Hey, I know you, your that squirrel that perform back in the city!" A mouse gasped and saw Jacques landed beside him."And you too, both of you guys are awesome!"
Sam laughed and put his hand on his chest, looking proud. "Why thank you little mouse,"
"But what are you two doing out here?" A rabbit asked. Jacques pulled out his made guitar and spoke.
"Well, I thought it'll be best if we bring some music along the trip, you know to make things exciting." Then Jacques turned serious.
"But we have an urgent message, the giants bats are alive, and they're searching for our new friends!"
"What?" Ursa gasped. "That's impossible."
"It's true we saw them! They're out there somewhere probably close!" Sam added. All the critters begin to worry, looking at each other mumbling but Ursa hushed them.
"Please! Lets all head for an Eastern valley we're all be safe and we'll discuss this later."She turns to Sam and Jacques." You may come with us but, don't outspoke like that again." Both of them gulped nervously as she gives them a stern look.
"Um well do mamm, my bad." Sam chuckled nervously. Ursa snorts and walks on and Sam and Jacques followed with the rest of the animals, heading for the Eastern Valley.
Ashlie's POV
I force my eyes to opened and yawned softly. I blinked and tried to think about what just happened yesterday, and I feel very toasty like I was in a blanket. I looked around tiredly and see the sun was going down, I caught a glimpse of Throbb roosting above hoping Shade and Marina in his wings. He was drooling and snoring due he still has a stick in his mouth.
"Oh right. I remember now," I muttered to myself. I feel Goth breathing calming against my body and his massive wings still tighten around me. I begin quietly to push his wings gently to get out but almost yelp when he pulls me more close my face was on his mane. I grumble and pull my head away to avoid his meaty stench and try again, squirm and turn like a worm to get out his wings. Soon I managed to get out by having another push his one hand softly and I slipped out fast before he caught me in his wings. I almost stumble a bit and stood still, waiting for Goth to wake up soon. See he was still sleeping I sighed in relief. With that, I stretch both arms out and made another soft yawn. But when my mittens touch my face, I flinched from the smell, having that disgusting stench.
"Ugh, he really needs a bath," I groaned. I turn and look up at my friends and I do feel really bad they were forced to sleep with him. I sighed and rub my arm, try to think of a way to escape without them noticing. Then my stomach begins to growl made my mind change a bit. I walked over to my bag to grab some food to eat, the nut was the one I took out and I nibble it quietly. After I was done, I grab a berry but when I bite it I pull it away. The berry itself tasted awful I spit it on the ground to get that tasting out of my mouth, I even have to use my free hand to scrap out my tongue with my nails. I huffed, and my tummy was still hungry. I fumble through my bag to find anything else for food but sadly I only have many berries that taste bad. I went over to the open cave, decide to throw the berries away I grab many and threw them over. I watch them fall until I don't see them anymore.
"Huh?" I notice after I throw them a small bush hanging on a cliff and I even realized it has berries in them, not just any berries blueberries! I beamed having an idea..."No bad idea, this is a bad idea." My stomach wasn't agreeing with me as it growls loudly. I gulped and look around to make sure everyone is still sleeping. Taking a deep breath I begin to climb down, focusing on a bush. "Blueberries here I come." I lick my lips having thoughts how delicious they're going to taste in my mouth. All of sudden, unaware of my surrounding I felt someone snatch my hoodie. The owner pulls me in sharply I almost screamed. The owner covers my mouth and I glance up fast and my face paled to see Goth fully awake.
"What do you think your doing, señorita?" He snarled lowly.
I wimped, and he pulls his hands away for me to speak. "I-I was I.." I've earned another snarled from him and his hand grip my neck I almost choked.
"I knew you were going to escape!"
"No! I wasn't!.."
He pushes me hard on the wall I cried in pain while the rest didn't stir and he lifts me up a bit. "Don't lie to me señorita," He tightens my neck I gasp painfully and try to use my hands to break free from his grasp, and kicked a bit."If you ever do that stunt again I will gladly eat your pathetic limps for my snac.." He stops suddenly when my stomach growled loudly. He raised his eyebrows and I nod fast.
"I- I'm hungry!" I manage to get the words out through my neck being tighten. He glares at me for a second, then he dropped me I gasp for air and coughed on my knees.
"You're hungry?" He asked, make sure I was telling the truth.
"Y-yes! There are some blueberries I was getting that is hanging on the cliff."I grab my neck and I winch in pain feeling I'm going to get a bad bruise from his grip. I saw him fly out as I was still coughing for air. Thank God my stomach saved my life or else he might kill me right on this spot. I almost jumped in started when he landed in front of me and I saw blueberries in his left claw. When he drops it in front of me, he spoke sternly.
"Eat," I tremble, don't know If I was rewarded to eat it after he tries to murder me. See I wasn't eating he shove them close to me. "I said eat, you said yourself you are hungry." Not wanting to get him angry I slowly took a blueberry and chew it slowly, I sigh, enjoying the sweet taste with juice added. When I was finished eating one berry I can feel Goth eyes I almost shivered.
"If you have told me you're hungry earlier I would've got some instead you were stupid enough to get them yourself." He said.
"But you were sleeping," I retorted.
"That doesn't make excuses!" He snarled, then he calms down and said quietly. "Don't do that again of escaping you will suffer the consequences." I swallowed nervously and ate another blueberry silently, praising God in my mind to give me more strength. And then I saw Goth form a small smirked in the corner of my eyes.
"I seem to notices your left arm is not broken," I almost chock my berry, nearly forgot he didn't know my arm has healed up."How did you heal it?"
"...I guess, the healing herb does the trick," I gulped. Without him seeing I quickly put my amulet inside my coat.
Goth hummed."I see. I believe Zotz might've granted your wish for perhaps, you starting to remember him." I swallowed nervously, and I force myself to nod.
"S-Sure, that could be it, your god might have something good over me," I smiled a little. Lord, please forgive me. I watch Goth smirked more and was little relief he's falling for my bluff.
"Hah! I knew you could believe him! The great Zots is smiling upon you señorita. He accepts your forgiveness."My stomach dropped afraid I can sense his presence, What if he was real? And is watching me..? I shook it off and stick to believing he's a myth to feel better in me. I watch as Goth walk over to Throbb sleeping and then he swipes his claw on his cheek.
"Wake up!"
"ACK!" Throbb yelped through his stick in the mouth and fall, making my two friends crash-landed on each other. I run to them and helped them up.
"Are you guys okay?"
"Yeah, I think so," Shade replied, "What about you?" I only nod, but my heart was beating still with fear after the earlier event.
"Now amigos should we get a move on?" Goth asked. I look to see he was looking impatient.
Shade shook his head. "You haven't answered my question."
The giant bat only huffed." I said I'll think about it.
"And I gave you last night!" He snapped. "If you want to deliver my colony, I need an answer, now!" Goth made a scowled look when Shade refused to leave. We all waiting for his answer and he looked over at Throbb having deep thoughts.
"Huh?" He questions and Goth turn to look back at us. Then he gives us his dark smile crossing his arms, finally had his answer.
"You have a deal."
"WHA?!" The chubby vampryum's eyes went wide in shock. Shade nods smiling and Marina looked at him considered. With that, he lifts himself to soar out of the cave and Goth followed. Throbb, however, was looking at Marina and I can see he wasn't too happy about this deal. He snaps the twig in his mouth and growls darkly at us.
"I'll end up serving you both," He came close to us dangerously."FOR DINNER!" Marina cried in fright and fly up and grab my hands with her feet, she flew fast out with me along with my bag I've picked up and I can feel her almost tremble in my mittens.
Lord, please help us. I prayed that Shade's bluff is strong, and we can get away from them.
