Chapter 33: Marrying?!
Third's Person POV
Back at the stone hood, the meeting was called upon that involves all the silverwings. Ariel, Frieda, and Bathsheba were the ones that are standing on a stone while the rest of the colony roosted on the wall. It was now about who will lead the colony and everyone believes Frieda wasn't doing a good job with keeping a focus on the route as it should be. But Ariel, Chinook, and Mercury were the only bats that have faith over her. Now at this moment, there's a battle between Frieda and Bathsheba for who will win on carrying being a leader. It has been going on since this early evening.
"It's my duty to ensure that the leadership acts best in its interest of all the silverwings." Bathsheba said.
"Frieda is a good leader!" Ariel stands up for her. "We trust her."
"I'm sure you do Ariel," The elder bat frowned at her. "She saved the life of your lawbreaker son and his troublemaker furless!" She turns to the whole colony. " I think its time for a leadership vote!" To Ariel and Frieda shock everyone begins chattering and many of them nod in agreement. As a lot of them mumble one another discussing their decision Mercury and Chinook came over and landed beside Ariel.
"Frieda, Bathsheba can't do that, is it against the rule?" Chinook asked, hoping it was.
She sighed heavily." I'm afraid not child, if every colony agrees on voting there's no stopping it." She saw Bathsheba was giving her a cold look like she wants to win.
"But there some that have to vote you," He added, "I'll convince my mom she'll do the same for you, she has to!"
"Do what you can but let your mother make her own choice, and don't deny it." A young Silverwing sighed heavily and flew to his mom to try to convince her Bathsheba is not a good choice. Ariel looks over at Frieda and she sighs.
"Whatever happens I will still believe you still be our leader," Frieda only smiles in return of her loyal and look at Mercury who was giving her reassuring smile. Soon the vote was up and Chinook returned, the colony has finally decided to choose.
Bathsheba was the first to speak. "All of those appointing me as your new leader?" Many silverwings raise their hands up. "And appointing of Frieda?" Ariel, Chinook, and Mercury raise their hands up high. They searched around to find anyone voting but sadly they only see few, that wasn't enough to beat the other vote.
Bathsheba gasps, for she has won the vote. She turns over to Frieda and smirked. "The colony has spoken," She looked over back at the colony."I honorably respect this responsibility." Chinook, Mercury, and Ariel hung their heads low in defeat while Frieda glance at her colony sadly.
With that, the new leader spread her wings out."Follow me, to hibernaculum!" She lifts herself with a grunt and all the silverwings begin to follow their new leader. The former leader was the last one to fly off and was accompanied by her companion as they begin their long journey ahead for their last location mark.
Ashlie's POV:
I held on Marina's feet as we flew for a couple more hours. Shade was taking forever to find his colony as that was the plan. The giant bats lew close to us and I was getting wiry how Goth was even closer to us like he was still thinking we're going to try to escape. It is probably due I try to get the blueberries he is now alerted on each of us if we ever try to make a stunt. Then he flew ahead towards Shade, and he growled, making the young bat gasp in startled and fly ahead quickly. About a few minutes later, all of us headed for the nearest branch to rest for a bit. Right when everyone landed as I land before Marina did Goth growled. I saw he was growing more impatient that he was ready to slice anyone who gets in his way.
"We had a deal. He snatches Shade's neck with his claws."You're still taking too long!"
"Goth he never migrated before give him more chance!" I said, helping Shade out, fearing for his death.
A young silverwing nodded fast. "M-maybe I need to check my sound map again," Goth looked at both of us for a second, he sighed sharply finally let go fo Shade.
"Very well, I'm off to hunt." He was about to take off but stops. "But..." He turns his head to us again and I thought my heart was going to stop when I saw a familiar colony passing by. Goth has no idea they are right under his nose, even Throbb wasn't paying any attention. "I swear by the soul of Zotz, if you try to trick me..." I can tell my friends saw them due to Marina gasps in worry silently he'll turn around in a second.
"H-hey let come out hunt together!"Shade blurted out. The giant bat glance down at him and I saw the colony taking off in the distance, feeling twice the relief they are still safe, for now. "I'm pretty good you know?"
"Oh really?" Goth forms a little smile. He nods eagerly.
"Of course he's good, he, he can hunt a mouse within five minutes and kill it with his small sharp teeth," I helped out and Shade looks at me in corner of his eyes like What the hell?! I silently shrugged trying to help more. Goth raises his eyebrows and then made a smirked.
"Then maybe you can perhaps prove it by killing for something all of us to eat, yes?"None of three of us didn't speak and then Goth chuckled darkly.
"Unless of course, it's just another of your lies. In which case our deal is off." He hovers over and Shade gasps."And we're taking Marina for lunch," He laughs darkly and licks his chomps making each one of us have the nervous glance, even the brightwing who was more nervous about being eaten alive from them.
"H-he can take it really! He's not lying at all," I nod Shade for him to go and he takes off leaving me and Marina being watched over by two giant bats. We all begin to wait for him to come back with a prize and I hope that he can catch something that was only a giant bug instead of an actual innocent mouse. Or else more hoping he'll have a different plan to get us out of this mess. All of sudden my eyes lit up. Uh oh… My both legs tighten feeling the urge of going, like really go. Not now! I looked around in desperate to find an exit so I can do my business. See no choice I have to climb down I quietly pass Marina and try to pass Throbb but he grabbed my arm.
"Where do you think you're going human?" He snarled.
"I gotta go!" I squeaked.
"You are not going anywhere,"He still tightens my arm.
"No, you don't understand I really gotta go," I bite my lips, holding my two legs together. He faces was looking at me now puzzling but still didn't let me go.
"You need to go? Where?"
"You know... go? Bad?"I said through my teeth, trying to hold it in. I look over at Marina for her help but she was looking at me funny. Soon she starts to realize what I meant.
"Um, she does need to...go. Like really go."I nod in desperate and was getting to the point I can't hold it much longer. Throbb, being more confusing ask again like he was trying to talk my language.
"Señorita what in the Zotz are you talking about?"
I finally can't help blurting out when I can't take it anymore. 'I GOTTA GO THE BATHROOM!" Throbb finally sees what I was saying the whole time he let go fast, and he was blushing a little. I felt my cheeks turn very red as I cover my face with my mitten and thought I almost wet myself from my yell. This is so embarrassing!
"….Um, sorry senorita I didn't know you need to go."
Goth chuckled darkly. "Let her do her own business she'll be back. She won't want to leave her friend behind."He smirked at Marina. I looked at her fearing they might try to eat her when Shade and I are not around to save her.
"Go on señorita, we won't harm her I swear by Zotz." She gives me a reassuring look for me to go.
"I'll be back, I promise!" As that goes, I bolted fast and climb down a tree like no other tomorrow and ran in the woods to use a restroom.
Third's person POV
"Frieda, I can't believe what just happened!" Ariel gasped. She was still way behind with Frieda while the colony is being led by their new leader. Mercury flies over by them and he scoffed.
"That Bathsheba has been jealous of Frieda in her entire life,"
Ariel shook her head. "I won't obey her. I can't,"
"Me neither." Mercury agrees.
"Now listen to me both of you," Frieda spoke to them sternly. Both silverwing looks at their former leader. "Bathsheba was within her rights as an elder to call for that vote. The colony spoke, and we must abide by that," She flew ahead to join the colony.
"Frieda, we can't respect..!" Ariel tries to protest but Frieda was up ahead, unable for her to speak more. Her and Mercury looked at one another, with no other choice they follow to catch up with the others.
Ashlie's POV
After I was done with much relief, I bury it with dirt and washed my hands to the nearby stream. I decided to take a small drink from it as well and took my bag up and look inside to see I barely have enough food for survival. I glance at my surroundings to find the food source, there was almost none left.
"God winter is almost here, I don't know how I can live much," I muttered to myself,
"Having some trouble, señorita?" I gasp in startled spun my body around. Goth was roosting above me right as I looked up.
"Goth you frighten me," That's all I can say and I watch him swooped down from his roost and landed."W-what are you doing here?"
He chuckled darkly. "I just come to see if you have done with you, business." I see his amusing look I frowned.
"Yes, I'm done we can go back and you better not lie of eating my friend.."
"She's safe, I'm having Throbb watching her no need to be a worry." He interrupted me. "But, I thought we both can have our little, discussing."
"Discussing?" I blinked, he gives me a smirked.
"Si, a little discussion I want to share with you that is between you and me," I felt my stomach begin to drop, didn't like where this is going I almost back up.
"What are you talking about?"
He hummed and strokes his beard. "I have some thoughts on you being a royal adviser to your two friends and to my taste you shouldn't be their adviser," He walks to me I back up more.
"Then...what do you expect me to be as?"I asked. I gasp when my back was hit on a tree. Goth grinned like he was expecting me to say those words.
"I thought you might never ask! Instead of being their advisor, you could end up perhaps be a powerful human," He smirked at me more and thought I was imagining but I think I saw something hidden in his eyes, like desirable? "You could end up, as my mate,"
"…..Oh, is that what it is?"I found myself laughing."O-of course I can be your mate! We can be friends, pals, amigos. Why don't you say so? I can be your advisor too I won't mind,"
"That's not what I meant," He smirked darkly. I slowly stopped my laugh, see he was serious.
"Um, you mean… act as close siblings?"Again he shook his head, giving me a wrong answer.
"As a prince from my colony, I've chosen you to be my princess, soon my queen when we return to my jungle." He replied. I was stunned. He want to marry me?! He came close to me and uses his claw to run through my hair.
He sighed. "Ah yes, you seem to be worthy enough as my companion."
"But, I'm not a bat," I swallowed.
"No matter," Goth smirked and he touches my cheek with his claw gently and I shivered."It's always okay to try something new in this world. When you and I are wed, we can both rule together under your humans and my colony. They will see us as supreme ruler and your people will respect the ways of my kingdom. You are the only human alive that can remember Zotz and more your humans will do the same, and return to where they should respect his name like before."He uses his claw tip to force me to look up at him and he finished with low tone.
"What do you say señorita, be my little esposa?"
I did not have many words to say, out of nowhere after what he says about how he hates my kinds for abandoning his God and how we banded him and brought him to be in prison. Now here, he wished to have a marriage over me?!
"I- I don't know what to say," I gulped.
"Then say yes," Goth laughed."It's not that hard."Then I push his hand away from my chin finally have the courage to answer.
"It is a very huge offer but, I have to refuse." Goth raised his eyebrows.
"What?"
"I refuse to accept it. I don't wish to be your princess. I want to be a royal advisor that was the deal," I was about to pass him but Goth push me back on the tree I yelped.
"Hey let me go!" I kick and grip his wrist to pull away from my shoulder.
"You should be honored as my bride!" He snarled.
"Are you out of your mind?! I don't want to marry you!"I screamed."We're both different species it won't work out!"I cried when he tightens my shoulder and uses his other hand to grasp the other, and I can feel his claws almost digging through my coat.
"You are making an unwise choice señorita, " I almost wimped to see his fur almost puff up, ready to lash out his fury on me."You are missing out on your chance to be a ruler on earth. Zotz will bless you more if you accept my offer!"I wanted to scream for the help of how Goth is treating me, hoping Shade is near or Marina with Throbb, will they can save me from the worse thing he can do to me. I saw him, stops for a moment, slowly breathe through his nostrils, calming himself.
"Now let's try this again," He slowly releases my shoulder and cup his hand on my chin to make me glance up at him. I was looking at him fearfully, and he smiled charmingly, but not a nice one. "Now be a good little human," He pulls me closely, "…And say yes."
I trembled in his hand as my eyes stare into his predator while he waits patiently for me to say it and I felt sick in my stomach. Instead, I push his hand away again and shove him.
"I said no! I don't want to end up having a husband for a bat! You're disgusting!" When he almost stumbles, I begin to splint out of my trap. All of sudden he grabs my arm roughly and when I turn around he gives me a hard backslap I fall on the ground. I gasp in pain and grip my cheek where he slapped at. I glance at him and swallowed hard in fear, seeing I was looking at a monstrous beast before me.
"YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE WORM!" He roared. "HOW DARE YOU CALL ME SUCH A WORD?!" He got on his knees and grabs my hair and pulls me up I shout in pain. 'When we return to my kingdom, you will change your mind, I will make sure that will happened. You have a purpose for being small, my beauty."I felt sicker when he calls me that and squirm to break free. He finally let go of me and I run before he can do anything else to me, back to where Marina and Throbb are. When I finally made I collapse against the tree, with my face all paled, holding my pained cheek.
I almost jump my skin when someone touches my shoulder I yelled.
"Ashlie it's me!" I saw it was Marina, having a concerned look. "Are you okay?" I turn to see Throbb was beside her I breathed heavily, unable to speak. She notices how I was in dread she asked. "What happened?"
"She's just got spooked," Her and I looked and saw Goth coming in and I saw he was holding something in his wings."After she was done, the girl saw a shadow and it jumps at her, causing her to flee, but luckily I scared it off. Marina looked at him for a second and look at me.
"…You did something to her, didn't you?" She glared at him.
He snorted. "I have done nothing to her. I was helping her escape from what was attacking her." I saw she was not buying it and was about to say something. Before she can we all hear a small wing flapping. I glance up and saw Shade coming down and landed panting heavily. I notice he didn't catch anything and even realized Goth didn't have a disappointment look. I knew something was wrong and it going to turn awful.
"I think the prey is scared in this kind of forest," Shade said.
Goth chuckled. "I thought you might say that. That is why I took it upon myself to bring you this," He unwraps his wings slowly and when it was revealed I was horrified it was a small mouse looking scared. He drops it in front of Shade and he gasps.
"Kill the mouse now," Goth ordered.
