Knowledge can be a curse on a person's life. I had exchanged a bunch of lies for a bunch of truths, and I didn't know which was heavier. Which one required the most force to carry? It was a ridiculous question, because once you know the truth, you can never go back and pick up your suitcase of lies. Heavier or not, the truth is now yours.
The Purpose, Rewritten, Chapter 28 Broken heart
August 24, 1959, Ministry of Magic
The day was particularly difficult for Seth. Not only had he had to cast the obliviating spell on one of the villagers on his island, Corban and his father had encouraged him to drink the blood of one of the mercenaries that the other vampires had brought to the island, in order to satisfy their primal instincts.
He had learned that they had been doing this for several years now, claiming that vampires would go crazy from being around humans without being able to kill them. His father believed that if anything were to happen to him, that Seth had to be aware of absolutely everything that was happening in the world with his nation. He had even met vampires who were several hundred years old like his father, including Sanguini and Angel, living in America, during his trip there, while he was seeing the MACUSA for political reasons with the Minister of Defense.
He rubbed his temples, constantly seeing all the vampires satisfying their hungers, their desires... feeling his own desire and... the man's heart stopping under his tongue and the pleasure coursing through his entire body. Danyck had been completely crazy and had killed two of them, even wanting to go so far as to take the life of the young boy who had witnessed the scene, but Seth had refused and had caught up with him to perform the obliviating spell on him.
His father wanted to make him understand. Lazarus had long spoken of these needs, despite his deaf ears. He had finally seen; he had finally felt this need. That's what it was... to be a vampire and he had to listen to his nation... a world apart.
He heard Corban humming in his head as he worked on another project of his, a portkey that could transport magical creatures, such as giants, over long distances.
His eternal humming, with his deep voice, calmed him, and Corban knew it very well. Corban had shown him how to play the piano and the violin since the very first time they saw the Nutcracker show together and they never missed the opportunity to go there, every year, before Christmas.
''It's late... very late. Maybe sleeping would help?'' Corban thought.
"Help me with what? All day long, I just wanted to take them all… one by one. I felt their hearts vibrating throughout my body and even when I put on my Occlumency barriers, I could see their veins pulsing under their skin. Why did you have to encourage me to… to…''
"Listen to yourself?"
''NO! Don't you realize that we have a soul! You! Me! Danyck! Committing murders breaks us, Corban…''
His humming stopped.
''So what? We can do whatever we want now. You can do what you want. I didn't notice anything different."
Even though he still had Graves on his back, it was true that he had a lot of power within the ministry. Most wizarding families approved of the decisions he made. However, he had put his family aside, and yesterday had reminded him that he had more than the responsibilities of the Ministry of Magic to take care of. Kathleen's death had shaken him, and his thoughts were racing through his head, not to mention the fact that he had killed a muggle and that he had enjoyed doing it... if he really listened to himself.
''No. Not everything we want.'' Seth thought after a while.
''You could do it. You have the power to do it. You don't even dare apply for the minister's position anymore."
"My father acts and talks to me as if I was going to become king overnight. And I no longer want to be a minister, I know very well that Ignatius Tuft is led by the governing council and that his face is everywhere in the newspapers every day.''
Corban made a sigh and a noise of mental exasperation.
''Say instead that you don't want anyone to replace you, especially not this... Crouch.'' Corban thought.
Bartemius Crouch, a young man with a growing mustache who did everything to lick his boots and try to do everything for him. Still glad he had to sleep, otherwise he'd think Crouch was literally living at the Ministry.
Seth sighed and massaged his temples again. The smell of lavender pulled him from his thoughts, and he looked up at the door as there was a knock three times. It was Monica. He looked at the clock which showed one o'clock in the morning.
''Come in.'' Seth said.
Monica walked into Seth's office and closed the door behind her. Her face was covered in tears and her eyes were red and puffy. Seth got up and went to her, worried.
"Monica! What's going on?'' Seth asked.
She gasped before bursting into tears in his arms. He led her to his chair where he took a seat with her on top of him. He waited for her to calm down and stroked her hair. She seemed to have lost weight since he last saw her in the spring. She was so light on him. After several minutes, she rubbed her eyes and sighed.
"Seth… my mother is dead." Monica announced.
''I'm sorry, Monica...I didn't know she was sick.'' Seth said.
She shook her head.
''No... it's a stupid accident... a car ran into her, but it's not... it's not just that... my husband wants to return to his country and be the director of Durmstrang. They had been asking for a few weeks already and Igor had to go to Hogwarts, but now...'' She hiccupped again before speaking. "They are already there… my father too and they brought Igor."
''Why are you still here? Why didn't you tell me?'' Seth asked.
"I…I…he didn't let me." Monica muttered. ''I ran away, but he thinks I'll take the portkey to follow Igor... and he's right, but... I... I had to see you.''
Seth understood the implication very well. He had long suspected Sergei of mistreating Monica, perhaps even harming her and manipulating her in many ways. He held her close, knowing that she was probably going to take the portkey as soon as she walked through his door.
Lord Greengrass' resignation letter must have been in the pile on his desk, and he hadn't had time to look.
"Will you be in danger with him, Monica? You know very well that you only have one word to say, and it doesn't matter if he is the emperor of the world, I will not let anyone hurt you.'' Seth assured.
Monica placed herself on one of his legs and wrapped her arms around him before kissing him tenderly. This gesture surprised him, because he had never touched her since the time he had freed her from her curse. He felt jealousy coming from Corban before Corban blocked his thoughts and Seth could no longer know what Corban was thinking. Danyck would normally have been indifferent, but he was already asleep.
He gently pushed Monica away.
''Please, Seth... just this once... I don't want to go live anywhere else knowing that I'll never have pleasure again... that I'll be alone knowing you're far from me, the best man I've ever been with… the one I should have married.'' Monica begged.
The words cut him like a knife. He had always loved Monica, even if his heart had always belonged to Corban, but faced with her insistence and her desire... he kissed her in turn. The heat rose several degrees in the room as Monica unbuttoned Seth's shirt and removed his tie without their lips parting.
He took off her overcoat and lowered the straps of her dress which revealed her voluptuous breasts of a woman who had matured and given birth. He slid his tongue down her neck to her chest where he sucked on the left nipple, then the right. Monica's heart struggled and Seth held back from sinking his teeth, which became long, into the fair skin of the witch in his arms.
He stood abruptly, pushing her away again. Monica made a cry of surprise as she touched the cold floor of her feet where her high heels had fallen minutes before. She looked at Seth who now had black eyes. This did not seem to shock her, as she moved forward again and undid his belt and pants with skillful hands.
"Monica…" Seth said in a gentle tone, trying to control himself not to devour her.
''If you think I'm going to let you slip away again... I need you, Seth... all of you.'' Monica said before placing her lips on his chest and moving down to his cock beneath his underwear that she took down.
Seth moaned and swore.
Her mouth encompassed his member and Seth closed his eyes, feeling shivers of pleasure run through his body. Monica stood up after a few seconds and pushed Seth back into his chair. Monica took off the rest of her dress and climbed on top of Seth before sinking into him. She let out moans that mixed with his own. Seth was careful with his sharp nails as he took her by the waist as she began to move up and down on him, taking hold around his neck.
She wanted to kiss him again but cut herself on her teeth. She wanted to pull away, but Seth put his hands behind her back and forced her against him and he licked her lips where the blood was flowing. Seth felt like he could taste spring in her blood. A taste of flowers and lavender, like her perfume.
Maybe she was scared for a moment, and she stared at him for a few seconds, exhaling once, but she tilted her head to one side.
Taking this gesture as an invitation, he then went to her neck and slid his tongue over the skin. Monica held her breath as Seth sank his teeth into her neck, spreading his venom through her veins. He made pelvic movements, continuing to bring pleasure to both himself and her, lost in the tornadoes that sex brought to the body. Her blood suddenly tasted sweeter, like honey from the hive. Monica let out a cry of pleasure, subsequently whispering Seth's name repeatedly.
Seth held her even tighter against him, thrusting his pelvis faster and faster. He lost himself in a whirlwind of blood, pleasure, and ecstasy. As he reached his climax, he let go of her neck and groaned as an orgasm ripped through him and he spilled into her. His nostrils flared and he took deep breaths, enjoying the pleasure he had just had. Monica took his lips again, tasting her own blood still present in Seth's mouth.
Seth stood up and took her by the waist, removing his member which was losing its tone and placing Monica on her back, on his desk. Her legs dangled, but he rested them on his shoulders as he knelt down, his face level with her wet sex.
"Seth?" Monica asked.
''I'm not done. If you want...'' Seth said, moving his face even closer.
"Oh…I…"
He silenced her as his tongue licked the contents of her pussy wet with his cum. For him, it didn't matter. He admired his work and focused on the marble caught between the folds of her skin and made insistent circles, listening to the little moans of Monica who tried to hold herself and put several reports on the floor by her sudden movements.
He worked on her like this for several minutes. Rolling his tongue and sucking on her clit several times when she contracted again and let out a long moan as more fluid leaked out of her.
He stood up, leaving Monica's legs on him and inserted his member, which was firm again, into her. She moaned again, breathless. Her breasts bounced to the rhythm of his pelvic thrusts. The only living woman he had ever fucked stood before him, magnificent, and totally under his control. He caressed her legs and placed kisses on her right calf before licking her skin. His eyes turned black again and his teeth grew longer. The blood on Monica's neck continued to flow slightly. Her smell invaded the space of his office and all he could think about was fucking her until he or she was exhausted.
"Seth…"
His heart was beating hard in his chest, or was it Monica's heart pounding in his head? He sank his sharp teeth into her leg, and she cried out in happiness before screaming his name again.
He removed his teeth and licked the flowing blood before closing the wound. He sped up his pelvic movements and felt the contractions around his member as Monica reached climax for a third time.
Seth concentrated as his own pleasure peaked for a second time. He placed a hand on her chest, and he came inside her again with a loud grunt. His member pulsed inside her and his cum flowed out of her already filled pussy.
He caressed her tenderly, resting her legs on the floor and she stood up before kissing him. Tears fell down her cheeks and he wiped them away with his fingers, caressing her cheeks in the process.
''Why are you crying?'' Seth asked.
She shook her head.
''No...these are tears of joy, Seth. I don't want to leave... please hold me...'' Monica said, sobbing.
He hugged her closer, now caressing her back.
"You must be with Igor, Monica. I can't protect him if he's not here, and if you don't go…"
''I know.''
They were silent for a moment.
"He beats me…" Monica whispered.
Seth tensed, anger burned his cheeks and murderous desires invaded his thoughts. How could a wizard inflict so much pain and misery on a woman like Monica and get away with it?
''I'm going to kill him.'' Seth said.
Monica looked up at him.
''He'll be in Durmstrang all year round, he won't do anything to me... and Sergei is... devoted to Igor. His job as director will leave me alone at home…" Monica explained.
"And when summer comes? What will you do then?' asked Seth.
Silence.
''I'll come see you with Igor.'' Say Monica.
''You can't say these things to me and not have him face any consequences.'' Seth said.
Monica didn't say anything anymore. Seth released her and got dressed. Monica looked at her legs and fluid was leaking out. She went to Seth's private bathroom after picking up her dress.
Meanwhile Seth picked up the files and reports that had fallen and saw the famous letter from Emmanuel Greengrass announcing his resignation and his hasty departure. Monica came out after a few minutes, as if nothing had happened. Even her eyes no longer showed that she had cried. Seth wondered if there was a spell against that as the door flew open, revealing Corban fuming in anger. Monica let out a small cry as Corban pointed his wand at her.
''Leave. May I never see you touch Seth again for the rest of your life.'' Corban said angrily.
Seth hadn't heard him, nor felt him, nor even felt his presence in his head. Corban's anger was behind an impenetrable wall. Seth stood in front of her, trying to understand why Corban was acting this way. Many times, he had taken advantage with Abraxas or even certain ministers from other countries without it bothering Corban.
Corban lowered his wand and glared at Seth, as if he had read his thoughts.
"Corban…" Monica said softly behind Seth. "I… I don't understand… how?"
''Idiot. I know everything Seth does. I'm giving you one last chance to go through this door while still alive, Miss Karkaroff.'' Corban said venomously.
Monica looked at Seth fearfully.
''Go...Monica. We'll see each other soon, and I'll send you an owl.'' Seth said.
She swallowed hard and passed by Corban who was glaring at her. With one last glance at Seth, she left. Seeing her leave like that, he had a bad feeling, as if the last image he would have of her, was her passing through that door.
Corban closed the door behind him and cast a spell to muffle the sounds. Seth then began to feel Corban's anger through their bonds.
"Marry me." Corban said suddenly.
Seth blinked, unsure if he understood correctly.
"What?" Seth asked.
Corban closed his eyes for a moment and sighed heavily before moving closer to Seth.
"Marry me, Seth." Corban repeated.
"I…why?" Seth hesitated. "Not that… I don't want to, but why this request… now?"
''I told you... one day, that it didn't matter who you give yourself to, as long as your heart belongs to me... but that's not true. What you just did with Monica...I couldn't stand it. Especially since you've had feelings for her for several years... and I felt it... every time you went to see her. Every time she gave you a smile…" Corban said with difficulty.
Seth felt Corban's emotions surging through his head and he gasped. Pain, rage, jealousy... love. Seth swallowed with resistance.
"By making this request… you no longer want me to…"
"That you don't touch anyone other than me…sexually." Corban replied quickly.
''But…''
"Am I not enough?" Corban asked, placing a hand on Seth's left cheek.
Of course he was. Corban was his whole life.
''Of course, I do...I didn't think you needed any more proof than my thoughts, Corban.'' Seth said.
Corban moved closer and his hands slipped into Seth's hair and pulled him in for a kiss.
"Ni mel cin."
OoOoO
September 1st, Ministry of Magic
"You know I have to put this in the papers, Mr. Vulken." Skeeter said.
Seth had his nose on the Hogwarts student list and was walking towards the governing council department. About ten people followed him, each of them wanting to give him their report for the day.
''Put what, Mr. Skeeter? A photo of your hairy feet on the front page?'' Seth said, casting a spell on the journalist's feet.
Skeeter cried out as his feet grew bigger and burst his shoes with hairs coming out everywhere. Some laughed, but others did not dare attract the wrath of the person who was in charge of the newspapers and thus damage their reputation. They passed the news department, and Seth cast another spell and a large cloud appeared before making it rain all over the parchments.
''NO! YOU ARE CRAZY! HOURS OF WORK RUINED!'' Skeeter yelled, turning red with rage.
''Don't come prying into my life. I thought you were a wizard too. You can stop these spells with a simple incantation.'' Seth said, narrowing his eyes. "And if you don't know how to do it, go back to Hogwarts, they've just started a catch-up group."
Skeeter yelled to his employees in the news office, and everyone started throwing *Finite Incantatem*s, then he turned back to Seth who was smirking.
''You'll see, everyone will know tomorrow, and it will create the worst scandal!'' Skeeter said with venom.
Seth grunted and continued on his way. He suspected that he was probably talking about his union with Corban, since the latter now had the last name Vulken. When Corban returned to work, his colleagues must have noticed the change in schedules because the wizards' names still displayed their real names.
"What is he talking about?" Crouch asked behind him.
Seth stopped in the middle of the hallway and a few rushed in. Seth turned around and everyone looked at him with a look of bewilderment and curiosity.
''Since he will publish it anyway... know that Corban Yaxley is now Corban Vulken, my husband.'' Seth said. A silence ensued and they looked at each other. ''And when you come back down to earth, work awaits us.'' Seth added before turning on his heel and walking even faster.
He arrived in front of the book and spell approval offices and stopped in front of Morgan Brown's office.
''Brown. Is the vampire book at Hogwarts now?'' Seth asked.
''Ah, Mr. Vulken... I... should speak to you about this matter in private, if you would like.'' Morgan replied.
Seth entered the office and closed the door behind him as protests were silenced after he cast the secrecy charm. Morgan swallowed hard.
"Speak." Seth said sharply.
''Uh, uh, well... it wasn't approved.'' Morgan said.
"And why is that?" asked Seth. "They can't still keep the old manuscript after everything I've demonstrated and accomplished here?"
"The Ministry doesn't see how that's… possible… after all… a… a-a vampire wizard just can't exist… lies can't…"
"Lies?" Seth said, not believing his ears. "What lies?"
Morgan avoided Seth's gaze and looked at his papers.
"The fact that you mention being a vampire. You're trying to make us believe…"
Seth ran a hand over his face. He simply couldn't believe it. After all these years of doing this job as an international representative of magical cooperation for the Ministry of Magic, they classified him as a liar. It was true that he had never used, or demonstrated, his vampiric powers in any way and he had, on many occasions, responded that he was a wizard first and foremost. And while pretty much all the book talked about was their actual physical description, their abilities, and a little bit of their history, but where it was mentioned that Seth was born on their island. Obviously, some had the wrong conclusion that he was trying to pass himself off as a vampire and as the population would never dare believe that a vampire could be a wizard, they refused this book based on this mention alone.
"…and understand that, even if you like it, there are always people who… who don't…"
"What did Newt Scamander say?" Seth interrupted.
Morgan stuttered and looked through his files before pulling out a letter and handing it to Seth with a trembling hand.
...Vampires are fantastic creatures, or should I rather say humanoid beings with extraordinary powers that are not magical, although their bodies can continue to move forward without even having a beating heart.
No spell or potion can duplicate their unique abilities, such as their superhuman strength being able to move masses of up to a ton, although a levitation spell is possible, it takes several wizards to lift an object of this mass.
Their extraordinary speed is also incredible, reaching the speed of…
Seth turned the parchments quickly. These details were all in the original book which was in Uagadou.
…Seth Vulken, born July 31, 1915, to vampire parents, King Nathaniel and Queen Elena Vulken. Although born to vampire parents, Seth has a heart that beats slower than normal and he was born with the magical powers of a wizard...
Seth looked up at Brown who kept saying it was impossible and other synonyms. Seth then wondered if he should not take him by the neck and lift him off the ground while showing him his black eyes and his teeth, or simply drain him of his blood or take this table and throw it at his head .
''While it's tempting, I don't think it's a good idea.'' Corban's thoughts whispered.
Seth then interrupted Brown.
''Enough of your nonsense, Brown. If the ministry wishes to remain in ignorance of my nation, I will do it differently.'' Said Seth.
''You can always redo the book manuscript if you...if you remove...those details about you.'' Brown said quietly.
A twitch appeared on Seth's lip. Without even answering him, he threw the parchments on the desk and walked out before slamming the door, still trying to contain his anger. The hubbub of the wizards who were waiting for him started again.
''Can this day end?'' Seth muttered.
