The door clicked shut and he almost sagged against it. He knew he probably left her feeling confused. He just walked away from her without a word, while she was displayed like that. He felt a bit guilty that he did that, but his feelings were overwhelming him. What he had seen in her eyes…what he was sure she had almost spoken…the way it tipped him over the edge.

He sighed as he palmed his face. He walked over to the sink and looked in the mirror. His reflection looked back at him. He groaned when he saw in his eyes the same thing he had seen in hers.

Love.

There was no way he had fallen for her so hard, so quickly. Fallen in love. It should've taken time. Like it did with Liz. It took years to get to that point with her but with Angel. It took barely a few weeks. It had been a long time since he had felt in love. He knew how it felt.

Him. Hellboy. A terrifying demon in love with an angel. What a fucking contradiction they were.

He sighed and straightened up. He didn't know what to do with it right now. So, he'd just clean up, go out there pretending nothing was different, and then take her up to the roof later. Like a date. A romantic date with the woman he loved. Again, he groaned. He shook his head, trying to shake that thought out.

"Okay. Red. Time to focus. Clean yourself up."

The quick pep talk didn't even work. But he still turned away from his reflection anyways. He pulled out a towel and turned on the shower. Maybe a cold shower would help would push away the thoughts of love. He stepped in and shivered. He wiped himself down with his body soap. He gripped his flaccid cock and pumped, letting whatever he had left in there leak out. It reminded him of the thought he had earlier. About just spilling into her and letting her have it all. Fill her up.

He shoved his head under the cold spray and took his hand off his shaft. Any more thoughts like that he'd walk out there dripping wet and just slide into her. God, he loved being inside her as much as he loved her.

For fucks sake!

He growled and wretched the water off with a rough twist of his wrist. He stepped out of the shower and grabbed his towel to scrub himself dry. He tried not to think so much about it as he moved the towel over his body. He threw it on the floor, flicked the light off, and wretched the door open. It whooshed open, air brushing against him. He paused. He had to stop. He took a deep breathe then let it out.

He stepped out of the bathroom and spotted Angel curled under the blanket, her back facing him. He looked around and saw she had cleaned up their clothes, folding it and setting it on one of his lounge chairs. He let out a soft groan. She did all that while he beat himself up in the bathroom. He stepped over to the chair and picked up the boxers. Slipping it on, he turned around.

Hellboy could see Angel's face. Her eyes were closed, the lashes settling against the roundness of her cheeks. He walked over to her side of the bed and kneeled. He could see the dry streaks of tears and he swore softly. He really hadn't meant to cause her pain. He kissed her forehead and stood up. He walked around the bed, flicked the blanket over, and crawled in.

At this time, a short mid-morning nap sounded good. He let the blanket fall over his hip and he scootched in behind her. He slipped his arm around her waist and his other arm under her head. He pulled her in gently against him, spooning behind her. He sighed at the feel of her naked body. He pressed a soft kiss against her neck.

"I'm sorry," he murmured.

She didn't move as her eyes opened. She felt him settle against her, his breath hot against the back of her neck. She could feel every part of him against her naked form. She stayed like that; eyes open and unmoving long after his snores began.

Hellboy jerked, thinking something was wrong. His eyes snapped open to find Angel no longer in bed with him. His arm held nothing as it laid on the mattress. For a moment, fear spiked in him and sat up abruptly. He looked around and spotted her lounging in his chair, fully clothed and stroking one of his cats. He sighed once he could see she was okay. He didn't know why but his senses had alerted him to danger.

"How long have you been awake?" He asked her as he settled back on his hands, the blanket pooling around his waist. His chest exposed to the cool air.

She shrugged. The cat jumped from her lap onto the bed and walked over to Hellboy. The feline rubbed against his chest. "Not long."

He didn't know she never slept.

"What time is it?" He yawned.

"It's after dinner. You slept awhile. They brought dinner in here too." She answered as she pointed to the trolly full of food.

He could tell something was off with her. He was sure it was from earlier. He gave her a short nod and threw the blanket off after he scratched the cat's chin. He crawled out of the bed and headed over to the food. Dinner that night was spaghetti. He did like it but not always.

"Did you already eat?"

"Yeah."

He looked at her with a raised eyebrow. He knew her penchant for eating small. "A full plate?"

She smiled back at him, "A big full plate. I promise."

"Alright," He murmured in reply. He grabbed a plate and filled it to the brim. He turned around as he took a big bite of it. "Did-youmph watt to go tognihht?"

"What?"

He swallowed the food, "Did you want to go tonight?"

Angel nodded.

"Okay, let me eat, get dressed, and I'll take you up there. It should be nice and cool tonight," He said as he sat down on the bed and continued to eat his food.

She nodded again, not giving him a verbal reply. He was concerned. But he quickly ate as she watched. Then when he was done, he got up to put it away. He wasn't really done with it, but he could wait until after to finish it all. He wanted to take her up there and watch her fly. Have her take his breath away.

She turned her head away as he went to his dresser and picked out clothes for the night. He found the jacket she had hung up for him and slipped it on. Then he went over to her. He stood behind her and leaned over, his head over her shoulder.

"You okay?"

His voice tickled her ear and she nodded. She turned her head and pecked his lips. "I'm fine."

He raised his eyebrows at those dreaded words. He knew enough about women that when they say that it's really the opposite. She stood up from the chair and he grabbed her hand. He pulled her towards him, and he kissed her.

"If you're sure?" He wasn't convinced that she was fine.

She nodded, "Yeah. I'm sure. Let's go."

She tugged at his hand, and they went to the door. He unlocked it and opened it. They had only taken a few steps out of the room before an agent approached them.

"Sir?"

Hellboy turned his head towards the man. He scowled. It was the same agent from earlier. The one who was in the gym. The one who suggested the idea of the roof. For whatever reason he couldn't figure out, the man rubbed him the wrong way.

"Yeah?" Hellboy replied.

"Agent Manning requested a meeting with you," He said.

Hellboy rolled his eyes, "I'm sure he can wait until later."

The man stepped in front of Hellboy. "I'm really sorry sir. He says it's urgent."

Hellboy sighed in annoyance. Everything is urgent when it comes to Manning. He turned to Angel.

"I'm sorry darling. I gotta go see Manning. We'll have to do the roof another time."

Angel shrugged, "It's alright. Maybe I'll just go to the library. Visit Abe."

"Actually, if it's alright with you Sir, I can take her up? I'm sure your meeting won't take long, and I can make sure to stay with her until you're done, and you can make it up there."

The red demon hesitated. But Angel squeezed his hand and he looked at her.

"I'll be okay. I'd like to go up there. I won't start flying until you arrive. I won't fly away or anything," She said.

"That's not what I'm worried about darling. I know you won't fly away from here," He replied then bent down to her ear. "You like the sex too much for that," he whispered, making sure the other man couldn't hear.

Angel let out a snort.

Hellboy straightened up and looked at the agent, "Okay. Fine. You can take her." He looked at Angel, "I'll see you when I get done with the meeting."

She nodded and he kissed her. He looked at the agent with narrowed eyes, silently warning him. Then he turned away and headed towards Manning's office. Angel looked at the agent.

The agent smiled at her, "Come on. I can lead the way."

Angel was silent as he turned, and she followed him. They stopped outside of an elevator, and he pushed the 'up' button. The doors dinged and opened, and they walked into it. The door closed. She was quiet as she rubbed her arm. She looked around the small space, nervous. Then looked at the reflection in front of her.

Her eyes widened.

The agent jumped. The small black handheld stun gun flew through the air in his hand and landed on her neck. The shock was instant. She shook as the electricity ran through her body and she collapsed. The last thing she thought before she fell unconscious was of Hellboy.

Hellboy…Help.
