Chapter 1: Trinity
Three individuals can be seen walking through a forest made out of bamboo. The dirt underneath their feet paved away as a gust of wind tumbled throughout their bodies as one of them began to shiver, the chilly atmosphere getting to them. The three walked towards a village whilst leaving behind a heap of multicolored blocks: smoke began to rise from them. These individuals walked with a dark brown lion in the lead, garbed in red baggy shorts, shirts, and a blue and white jacket with a hoodie, white fingerless gloves with a metal clasp on the back of his palms, all topped off with overly sized yellow shoes. A crown pendant bobbed to the rhythm of the boy's steps and a sheepish smile was plastered on his face while his hands rubbed against one another to warm himself up.
His companions, an overgrown anthropomorphic dog, wore metal plates similar to that of a medieval knight, a helmet way too small for his head rested on top of his cranium and he took in the scenery before them with awe and excitement.
The polar opposite of the two and the final member of the trio was a short white-feathered duck who donned typical blue mage apparel, quacking out mumbled curses while he folded his wings in front of him.
The lion spoke in an apologetic tone while still keeping his signature smile, not taking his eyes off the road.
"Donald, I said I was sorry, I'll make it up to you I promise."
It didn't take long to get a response.
"You trashed the Gummi Ship! Not only that but you trashed it in an uncharted part of the galaxy!" The duck named Donald went on to retaliate with an angry quack back at his lion friend.
"Gwarsh, I dunn'o Donald, this could be a fun adventure for tha' three of us." Defended the dog as he shielded his eyes from the sun that hung overhead them.
"Oh, what do you know, ya' big palooka." Donald spat back.
"I'm sure there is a Moogle shop nearby, we'll get some spare parts and fix the Gummi ship, no problem." Intervened the lion. There was always one of the furry little merchants waiting to take their munny, all they had to do was find one.
They trekked for a few more minutes in silence.
Disturbing their peace once again, the avian magician grumbled to himself.
"'C'mon Donald let me fly the ship once.'"
The furious duck mocked, his feathered arms only tightening across his chest. The lion sighed, looking to his side towards the dog who only shrugged his shoulders.
The boy turned toward the peeved bird with an apologetic look.
"I said I was sorry Donald, I thought that if we're on this journey together then I would take a shot at flying the ship if you or Goofy weren't around." The boy apologized again, raising his shoulders. It didn't take long for Donald to gloomily reply; stopping in his tracks to tap his webbed feet against the ground, "And what if there is no Moogle shop Sora? What if we're stranded!"
The other two stopped to look at each other before facing Donald.
Sora placed his hands on his hips before grinning at him,"You gotta think more positively Donald, like me… or Goofy." Gesturing to the knighted mutt with a tilt of his head.
Goofy next to him letting out a hearty A'huck! To which Sora smiled at and began to walk again, Goofy following alongside him. Donald, noticing that his friends were continuing on without him, scurried to catch up.
"Hmph, the last thing I want to do is be Goofy." Grumbled Donald underneath his breath.
The trio finally made their way out of the bamboo forest and into a quiet town. And by quiet, it was completely empty. No signs of life except the toss and turn of a paper billowing in the wind and the creaks of old wooden shop signs.
"Huh, wonder were-"
"Aaaaahh!"
The scream made the trio flinch in surprise. But Goofy shook his head with a determined frown, he was the first one to respond; "Bad Guys!" He exclaimed, calling upon a shield, a solid blue plate with two gold rings, one in the middle and one on the edge, topped with an emblem emblazoned on its center with an outline of a certain rodent.
"Trouble!" Shouted Donald, summoning his short wizard staff, its appearance similar to a wizards hat.
"Heartless!" Proclaimed Sora, brandishing his keyblade, a sword in the shape of a key with its yellow cross-guard squaring around a black grip, the sun reflected off of its silver smooth steel shaft with teeth on its tip shaped in an outline of a crown.
Now with their weapons in tow, they charged forward toward where they heard the cry for help.
A goose was surrounded by short statured monsters, inching forward with their razor sharp claws at the ready. Black as the night with yellow piercing eyes; freightened, the goose held a chef's hat in his hands as he tried to swat any who came close to him. "B-Back off! Do you know who I am!" Cried the goose. His pleas were unheard as the solid black bodies of the heartless creatures only inched closer.
The trio closed down the slope of the hill. Sora grunted in annoyance, "Urgh, we'll never make it in time!"
Goofy looked down the hill and then towards his shield. It took him a bit to piece two and two together before his eyes lit like a light bulb. Throwing it in front of him with the handle pointed upward, he jumped on top and slid down the vertical decline at increasing speeds.
"No worries fellas, I got this, Wahahoo!"
Sora beamed at his companion, "Yeah! Way to go Goofy!"
Goofy crashed into the Heartless like a bowling ball towards pins, tearing his way through and in one quick swoop picked up the goose while sliding away. "Up we go! Yahoo!" He cheered.
Sora and Donald continued rushing forward, The feathered mage turned toward the kid keyblade wielder with a focused look; "Sora! Follow my lead!" Thrusting his staff into the air whilst shouting, "Gather!"
An orb appeared above the group of Heartless, and by magic, pulled them up towards it with an unseen force.
"Now Sora!" Donald commanded. Sora nodded, the boy rushing forward before leaping high into the air, keyboard held above his head before bringing it down, slicing the ball of gathered Heartless in one clean cut. In seconds the ball exploded, leaving nothing behind but a group of crystallized hearts that floated mindlessly upwards toward the sky before disappearing. Sora sheathed his blade, dematerializing in his hand, patting his hands before putting them on his hips with a smirk on his face.
Hearing something erupt into flames behind him caught him off guard. Turning his head, he only saw a burnt spot on the ground and another heart fly away. Donald, who was a few feet behind him, held his arms crossed.
"Hehe. Whoops." The boy scratched the top of his head.
Donald shook his head, "Celebrate after each Heartless has been dealt with." He walked past Sora who only sheepishly smiled. Both went to check on Goofy, who was conversing with the duck...goose, that they just saved. Goofy, noticing them, excused himself before turning to his friends. "A'hyuck! Hey fellers! This is Mr. Ping! Mr.Ping, this is Sora and Donald." Both the duck and human exchanged their hellos. Mr. Ping, the goose, clasped his feathery wings together in joy, "Thank you so much from saving me from those ruffians! What were those things?"
Sora replied first. "There here to- '' before he could finish his sentence, Donald, in an instant, clasped his hands over Sora's mouth, his words coming out in a mumbled jumbled mess.
"Cause trouble, and nothing more." Donald continued, glaring at the boy.
"Yup! Nothin but mean ol' bad guys!" Goofy slammed a curled fist onto his palm.
Mr.Ping gasped. "Someone should alert the Jade Palace! Oh no, my Po!" Mr. Ping took off running… waddling, sprinting, towards the mountain.
Sora took Donald's hands away from his mouth, spitting out a feather before shooting a look at the duck before turning his head toward the direction the goose ran off.
"Jade… Palace?"
A familiar sound brought the three to look off to the side where a lone creature with white fur, bat wings, and a red orb above its head, floated above the ground. Sora crossed his arms as a smug smile formed on his face,
"See, told you we'd find it."
Donald crossed his arms across his chest too,
"You got lucky."
