Three years after the War of the Ring, an envoy of Gondor and his bride-to-be take a diplomatic trip to the free men of Nurn in southern Mordor. They don't even make it halfway.

It is the beginning of the Fourth Age and the Golden Age of Gondor. It should be the time of Peace and plenty, except there are bonfires on the Barrow Downs and strange happenings on Amon Sûl. Rumours of tall strangers in Bree and Merry has disappeared. The Three Hunters are called upon once again to track down a missing Hobbit.

Above all else, elves have a gift with song. When Eomer meets with the remaining fellowship, he sees in Legolas and Aragorn an opportunity to rouse Théoden and fight off the dead hand of Saruman but he gets more than he bargained for.
