So at the end of YAF – Book One the story will say Complete but YAF – Book Two is coming soon. So Felicity and Zuko's story isn't over yet. There are going to be a lot of books I promise. I have so many ideas in my head, I can't stop now.

FILI'S POV
Uncle Iroh, Zhao, and I walked down the hall toward Zuko's quarters. I noticed that Zhao was sneaking glances over at me and I couldn't help but grin at his lack of words. I wished I had realized how much I was grinning when he finally did say something.
"What are you smiling about, Lady Izumi?" He was now smirking at me as well.
I didn't even look at him, "I don't see how that is any of your business, Zhao."
He laughed, "Spoken like a true noble woman. You have so much fire in you…."
"That's right, I do." I smiled over at him, "You of all people know how much fire I have in me. How hot was it by the way? I never asked you before." His face hardened, and my smile got even bigger.
"It's good to see that even though you remain under these conditions you haven't lost any of that fighting spark," He didn't look at me this time, just looked ahead towards the end of the hall where Zuko's room was. "Be careful, I wouldn't want anyone else's bad reputation to wear off on you."
"Thank you for your concern, Admiral Zhao, but I wouldn't worry. You will be leaving soon so I think I will be safe of that." I nodded and moved up next to Uncle Iroh, who was grinning from ear to ear.
'Don't you think that was a bit much, Felicity?' His words were meant to be a warning, but I could hear the laughter in his thoughts. He soon cleared his throat and stopped at Zuko's door. "If you could, Admiral, wait outside for a moment?"
Zhao just nodded.
Uncle Iroh pushed open the door, "You should probably go first, my dear, and smooth out his temper."
"I'll do my best," I stepped inside. Zuko was sitting up on his bed with his back against the wall. I walked over and sat down near his feet.
'Do you trust me?' I laid my hand on his calf. He didn't move his legs, but his shoulders went from tensed to somewhat relaxed.
He looked at me from the corner of his golden eyes, 'Of course.'
I pressed down on Zuko's calf slightly, 'It's not good! It's Zhao… Brase yourself.'
'What?'
About that time Uncle Iroh walked in the door. Zuko didn't look at him. I'm sure he thought if I came in then the only person that would follow me, especially on Music Night, would be Uncle Iroh, "For the last time, I'm not playing the tsungi horn!"
"No, it's about our plans. There's a bit of a problem." Uncle Iroh walked inside a bit more.
Before Iroh could finish Zhao walked into the room, "I'm taking your crew."
"What!?" Zuko jumped up.
"I've recruited them for a little expedition to the North Pole." Zhao turned towards Zuko. He didn't seem to like how comfortable I was just walking into the Prince's room and sitting on his bed.
"Uncle, is that true?" Zuko looked over at Uncle Iroh, slightly worried. Then turned to me, 'What is going on?'
Uncle nodded, "I'm afraid so. He's taking everyone ..." He put his arm over his face in woe, "even the cook."
"Sorry you won't be there to watch me capture the Avatar. But I can't have you getting in my way again." Zhao's pitiful excuse of an apology only infuriated Zuko more.
Zuko charged at Zhao in anger, but Uncle Iroh cut him off, "No!"
I stood up and held Zuko's arm to keep him back as well, 'Please calm down,' "Please, Zuko." I slid my hand down his arm to his hand and squeezed it. He just nodded as he glared at Zhao.
Zhao turned when he noticed the pair of broad swords hanging on the wall. I could tell just by looking at him that he was furious, but of course I knew he would be. Zhao stared at the wall for a moment before reaching out and taking a sword from the wall. I could tell Zuko knew that Zhao had just put the pieces together; I had never seen him so worried before. I squeezed his hand again in hopes of pulling him out of the shock.
Zhao studied the sword closely, "I didn't know you were skilled with broadswords, Prince Zuko."
'He knows, lie,' I squeezed his hand.
"I'm not. They're antiques. Just decorative," Zuko answered but Zhao completely ignored him.
As Zhao studied the blade he turned to Uncle Iroh, "Have you heard of the Blue Spirit, General Iroh?"
"Just rumors. I don't think he is real." Iroh answered.
"He's real, all right," Zhao handed the broad sword to Iroh. "He's a criminal, and an enemy of the Fire Nation. But I have a feeling justice will catch up with him soon." Zhao started to leave before turning to Uncle Iroh one last time, "General Iroh, the offer to join my mission still stands ... if you change your mind." He smirked as he looked over at me, but his smirk turned into a glare when he saw that I was holding Zuko's hand, "Might I have a quick word with you, Lady Izumi, before I go?"
Zuko looked over at me and tightened his grip on my hand, but if that's what it took to get Zhao off this boat then I would do it.
"You just did," I smirked. "Ta ta, now. Don't let a waterbender freeze you on your way."
He walked to the door, "I assure you its a matter of great importance."
"Fine," I nodded at Zhao. I looked at Zuko with a small smile and slid my hand away. I followed Zhao out into the hall, "What do you want?"
"Not here, just a bit further, I wouldn't want us to be interrupted," He walked quickly ahead of me.
"It's adorable how you think you can dictate this interaction." I tilted my head to one side and crossed my arms, "Talk or leave. I have humored you enough."
"I'm glad to see you are so happy and comfortable with our banished prince. What was it you said had separated the two of you, pirates?" He turned and looked evilly at me, "I'll be sure to hunt the criminals down, and see that they pay for their crimes."
Shivers rolled down my spine as he stared at me with his wicked grin, "That won't be necessary…"
"And why not?" He circled me, "They threatened you and our prince, and surely they are the worst kinds of fiends, capable of all manner of wicked things. It is my duty as a man of the Fire Nation to find those responsible for threatening our prince." When he was back in front of me I wanted to claw his jerky grin off his face. "I have you to thank, my dear, if you had not informed me of this wrong doing I never would have known to hunt them down."
It was me! It's my fault. I'm the reason he knew to hire the pirates.
"But if you wish me to be…." He looked over my shoulder at Zuko's room, "merciful then come with me, and no one needs to be hurt."
I turned away from him and bit my lip. It took me a moment to gather my thoughts, "Why should I care what you do to pirates." I walked away from him not giving him the satisfaction of looking back at him. Zuko had walked out into the hall when I reached him I stepped behind him and wrapped my arms around one of his.
I could almost hear Zhao growl of fury when he stormed away, "I want all men ready by tomorrow night. Anyone that does not report to me will be labeled a deserter." He continued to bark orders as he stormed off the ship.
I held Zuko's arm for a moment, "I'm so sorry, Zuko. I should have…"
"No, it's not your fault," His arm tensed but he didn't pull away from me. Zuko looked at me over his shoulder and asked quickly, "You're not going with him, are you?"
"No!" I answered without any hesitation.
He didn't say anything else about it, but I could see the small grin on his face. "I need some time alone to think." Despite what he said Zuko still didn't pull his arm away from me.
"Ok, I understand," I let go after squeezing his hand one last time. "I'll come see you later?"
He nodded, "Of course," He walked back to his room, and then closed the door.
A FEW HOURS LATER
I understood how he felt. I had a lot on my mind as well. I couldn't help but worry about the crew. Thankfully, Lieutenant Jee had assured me that all of them had received orders to report to a battleship in the back of the fleet. So I was able to breathe a little easier knowing they wouldn't be in the direct line of fire. It had been so strange not seeing the men walking around the ship anymore.
My only other worry was the pirates. I knew they were coming, and I was keeping my eyes peeled for any signs of them. How am I going to get Zuko off this ship? I knew he was going to make it, but I hated the idea of him getting hurt in the first place. He wouldn't let me or anyone else in to see him. Even when I knocked on his door and told him I needed to talk he wouldn't let me in.
"Zuko," I knocked again on his door, but it was completely quiet, "Zuko, I need to talk to you. Please, I need to talk to you. It's really important." Jerk, you said we could talk.
Uncle Iroh did his best to keep me busy with training while the ship slowly emptied. Zuko still hadn't left his room, not to eat or train. Nothing. I continued trying to think of a way to get him off the ship but time was running out. The sun was just setting as the men were getting ready to leave, Uncle Iroh and I went to see them off and wish them all good luck. I knew we were out of time now, the pirates would be on their way and Zuko was still on the ship. I had to prepare for what was coming.
I walked back to my room and packed up my bags. There was no way I was going to lose my phone, notebook, or my tea-cup to this fire. I gathered up all the money I could find. I even plucked out the rubies from Uncle Iroh's monkey statue as well as any other jewel I could find.
Next I packed a few boxes of Uncle Iroh's tea in addition to everything I had from home. Then I also snuck down to the laundry room and packed some of Zuko and Uncle Iroh's things, just so I knew they would have something. I also took one of the firebenders' uniforms. I wasn't sure how Zuko would find one when he snuck onto Zhao ship, so I grabbed one to save him the trouble.
In one of Zuko's shirt pockets I found the three pieces of paper I gave him to practice English still blank. 'Oh that liar! He told me he had been practicing. I'm sooo getting him for this.'
I packed the clothes and papers, plus a few other important items like soap and wash towels, a cooking pan, three water pouches, and a knife. I had to hurry, everything was starting to get heavy.
At some point Zuko left his room. I had no idea where he went, but I took the opportunity to get his broadswords and the blue spirit mask. That was everything I could think of. I knew I was probably missing something, but this would have to do.
I gathered up all of the bags and snuck outside the ship. There was a little dock shop where I could hide everything. There was a lock on the door, but no lock could match the awesome lock picking skills of a bass blast. I would leave the shop keeper some money. He had a few other things that would come in handy after the Siege, like fishing line and lures. Zuko might suck at fishing, but I knew I didn't.
I hid everything in a trunk and melted the latch shut. 'I'll just get Zuko to kick it open. I know he can. He broke Uncle Iroh's chains with his foot once.'
It was getting darker and a lot colder, and everything was so quiet. I stood near the back of the shop, hiding in the shadows. The only sounds were from the wind and the waves softly hitting the shore. I didn't like the quiet, it made me uneasy, and I couldn't listen to music because I had to stay quiet myself. This was going to be torturous. I had a strong feeling I wasn't going to have any fingernails when this night was over.
TWO HOURS LATER
I stood outside staring at the ship with no sign of the pirates. I waited out of sight so that when the pirates did come I'd be ready for them.
'Uncle Iroh had already been gone for his walk for some time now. They should be here by now. What is going on? Where are they?'
Right when I thought I saw the pirates' weird reptile bird I felt a large freezing hand clamp down over my mouth.
"Isn't she the one?" I heard the man whisper behind me.
The black haired pirate walked in front of me, "Yeah, that's her. Remember the Admiral wants her brought straight to him."
'WHAT!? Oh, hell no!' I kicked and jerked as much as I could but the man holding on to me was huge! He picked me up with no trouble at all.
"Go straight to the ship! We will follow as soon as we set the blasting jelly," the black haired pirate told him. "And don't let her get hurt! He won't pay us the full amount if she's got so much as one bruise. You two with me, the rest of you get what you can. This prince brat cost us all our cargo last time…."
I couldn't hear anymore as the large one pulled me out of ear shot and into the woods. I couldn't even see the ship anymore. I kicked and bit as I tried to weasel myself away, but he was just so big. He held me still with one arm while he tied my mouth and hands.
"Stop your squirming. I can't let you get hurt." His whisper sounded more like a bite then a whisper now, and once he had my hands tied he moved to my feet.
I wanted to kick him right in his ugly face, but he held both my feet in one hand. I sent all my chi down my legs to my ankles to burn his hand. But right as he let out a yell of pain the blast of the ship exploded through the night air.
NO! Zuko!
I saw the smoke and red-orange light fill the sky. The blood in my body boiled, it was as if some replaced it with white-hot fury. I kicked the pirate in the stomach as he tried to tie my feet again, he groaned and fell back. I used my chi to toast the ropes around my wrists. Once my hands were free I bass blasted him until he flew back and slammed into a tree.
"What….What are you?" He groaned in pain again before passing out at the base of the tree.
I didn't have time to answer. I ran down to the shore, and screamed out, "Zuko!"
I couldn't hear anything but the crackling of fire and the whine of the ship breaking apart. No voices, no human sounds at all, just the sounds of destruction and the hiss of heated metal scalding the sea.
I fell to my knees, "Zuko?" I felt tears burn in my eyes. "Where are you? You are supposed to make it out of this. Where are you?"
'It's so cold.'
My head popped up when I heard him. It was like a whisper in my ear, but I heard him. I closed my eyes and focused as hard as I could. 'Where are you?' If I could just hear him again a little louder maybe I could find him.
While sitting there, eyes closed tight and focused as hard as I could. I saw something like a filtered dream; it was a blurry image of the ship burning and the shore. It felt just like the night when I had the terrible dreams of Alice, dreams so bad I went into shock and I was somehow able to see Zuko and Uncle talking to each other on the other side of my bedroom door.
I squeezed my eyes tighter and listened for his voice again. Anything would do. Just one sound, Zuko. I could see the shore and the ship, the water and below its surface. Pieces of metal from the ship were sinking as well as trunks, supplies, and all manner of items that were on the ship. I could hear the hiss of hot metal in water and the sounds of bubbles floating to the surface. I couldn't see Zuko anywhere until I heard a small noise like a groan or wince of pain.
There!
He wasn't far from me, but he was sinking fast. I opened my eyes and shot up from the ground. I sprinted towards the end of the dock, pulling off my jacket as I ran.
I'd give anything to be a water bender right now. That was my last thought as I jumped off the dock and dove into the water, but as soon as I touched it I thanked my lucky stars I was a fire bender. It was the coldest thing I could ever imagine. It took everything I had to focus on my chi while swimming down to him. When I reached him I wrapped my arm around his waist.
Here goes nothing.
I repeated bass blasts over and over propelling us up until we reached the surface of the water. Thank goodness for all those summers as a lifeguard and for the bass blast, without those two things I don't know how we would have made it to the shore. Zuko wasn't breathing when I pulled him ashore. CPR don't fail me now.
I tilted his head and breathed into his month before starting the chest pumps.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, Breathe again.
Uncle Iroh had finally made in back to the ship as I started the second set, "Felicity? What happened? How?"
"Zhao… h…he hired pirates," 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
"What are you doing?" Uncle Iroh sat down next to me. I could tell by the sound of his voice he was close to tears. Seeing Zuko like this must be taking its toll.
Breathe again, "He's not breathing," 1, 2, 3, 4… "This will help…"
"Felicity," Uncle put his hand on my shoulder, "He's not…"
"He will…." I stopped him before he could say it. Damn it, Zuko! "Breathe! You are supposed to make it out of this!"
Tears burned my eyes as I pressed my hand to his chest and hit him with a small bass blast. "Breathe," after one more blast he coughed up the water and rolled over.
Zuko was gasping and coughing for air. I knew I needed to give him space, but I couldn't stop myself. I pulled him back to face me and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Felicity?" Zuko coughed again.
I held him to me and pressed my face into his neck, "Not yet." After I spoke I felt his arm wrap around my waist.
Uncle had wrapped his arms around the both of us, "You two are freezing. We need to get you both warm and dry." Iroh helped both of us to our feet, and hooked Zuko's arm over his shoulders, "I can't believe Zhao would do something so vicious."
"I can," Zuko said without any hesitation.
I headed towards the shop where I had hidden our things, "This way."
Once we were inside the shop, Uncle Iroh started a fire in the small fireplace, "Both of you stay here. I'm going to go make sure the pirates are gone, and find some blankets, maybe some food."
Zuko sat down and sighed. I'm sure he was hurting all over. His right eye was black, there were small cuts all over his face and body, as well as many other bruises. He was still shivering. He had to get out of those wet clothes now and into something dry, or he was going to get hypothermia.
I pulled the trunk out from its hiding place.
"What are you doing?" Zuko asked behind me.
"I'm trying to think of a way to get this open. I didn't realize when I melted this closed you might be too hurt to open it." I studied the melted latch. I hit it with a small bass blast, nothing. I tried using my chi, but that only melted it more instead of actually helping. I kicked it twice, but that only hurt my foot. I hit it one last time with a stronger bass blast and luckily that did the trick.
I pulled out some of Zuko's dry clothes and turned towards him, "Ok, Fussy pants, time to get you out of those clothes."
"What?!" He looked up at me completely shocked and shivering.
I set the dry clothes on the table, "The only way you are going to get warm again is if you take off the wet clothes first." I walked over behind him and pulled his robe down his arms. I felt him shiver when my fingers touched his skin. He truly was a firebender as soon as the cold, wet clothes were removed his skin began to heat itself.
"FELICITY!" He jumped up and away from me. When he did he hit his head on an overhanging shelf and grunted in pain.
I just laughed and walked over in front of him, "Silly boy, here," I pulled the sash around his waist until it was untied and fell to the floor then I started to unbutton his shirt.
"I…I can do it my…myself," Even though he had said it he hadn't stopped me. He just stared down at me, watching my every move.
I had reached the middle of his buttons when I finally looked up at him, "I know you can." I, in turn, stared back up at him. We looked straight into each other's eyes as my fingers worked with the knotted buttons and brushed against the skin of his abdomen. I took a step closer to him. He radiated heat, but the fact that I was almost freezing had nothing to do with my need to be closer to him. I felt my leg brush his and both of us caught our breath at the contact.
"You're cold too," I felt him tug at the hem of my shirt.
My fingers finished with their unbuttoning then laid against his partially bare chest, and slowly began pushing his shirt away. "Yes, but I'm more worried about you…"
"Don't be," Zuko interrupted me. He reached up and brushed a strand of my wet hair behind my ear. He might have been shivering, but to me his hands were as warm as ever.
I moved my face so that his fingers brushed my cheek, "For a moment there, I was so terrified. I knew….I knew you were going to be fine, but when you wouldn't breathe I….I thought…" I couldn't make myself say it out loud. 'I thought you were going to die on me.' Tears rolled slowly down my cheek just to be brushed away by his thumb.
"Shhh….Don't cry, not for me." He pulled me to him and laid his chin on the top of my head. "You need to get warm too. You may not worry about yourself, but I do."
I looked up at him. I couldn't believe what I had just heard, "You do?"
He just nodded.
"Zuko, I…" I started to push up onto my tip toes towards his face.
"Please," He stopped me gently, "Your skin is freezing. I need you to get yourself warmer. I need to know you are all right first."
I wanted to tell him I was fine. Actually what I really wanted was to grab him and kiss him a thousand times, but the look on his face told me just how worried he really was. It was the dearest thing any guy has ever done for me. He really was concerned for me.
"Ok, Zuko, but you have to do the same." I slide his shirt over his shoulders and down his arms. His skin was so warm, and he was built like a rock. Chest, shoulders, back, his stomach, everything he had was perfect, even his scar. I wouldn't change one thing about him. Well, I take that back. I would make him grow out his hair. Speaking of his hair, when he was thrown in the water, the blast must have done something to untie his hair because it was hanging loosely down his neck.
"Um, Felicity," Zuko cleared his throat and his cheeks were a deep red.
"Oh, sorry," I jerked my hands away. I had realized just how much I was touching him. He turned around and put a tarp up in the corner of the shop so I could change in private.
Dry clothing was the most wonderful feeling, and once Zuko had changed into some dry clothes he put more wood on the fire.
"How did you get all these things here?" He asked as I walked out from behind the tarp.
"Do you really still have to ask me those kinds of questions?" I grinned at him as I started braiding my hair.
"Don't," He reached up and caught my hands mid-braid, "Leave it down, please."
I smiled and nodded. "Let's get your hair put up again then."
He nodded and sat down in front of me, "So you knew this was going to happen with the men, Zhao, and my ship?"
I felt so guilty when he said it out loud, "Yes, I'm sor…." But then I remembered something. "Wait a minute!" I pulled his head back so he was looking up at me.
"Ouch, Felicity!?" Zuko reached back to stop me from pulling.
"I told you I needed to talk to you! I told you it was important, but when I knocked on your door you wouldn't answer." I pulled his ponytail again, "As a matter of fact, your door was locked. Since when do you lock your door?"
"I need time to think and cool my head. I was so mad I didn't want to….."
"I don't care! You made a promise to me, Zuko. I don't care if you're so mad you want to kill something." I moved around and sat down on my knees in front of him, "If I tell you I need to talk to you, you have to listen to me. If we are fighting, if the sky is falling, no matter what, ok?"
"Alright," he reached for the hair tie in my hand.
I pulled my hand back, "Promise me! Look in my eyes and promise. No matter what…."
"I promise," He grabbed both my hands and held them between his, "No matter what I will always hear you."
"Good, because I can't see you like that again!" My head dropped.
Zuko squeezed my hands, "You won't, I promise."
"You can't promise that…."
"Then you tell me. Will you see me like that again?" He gave me a kind of half laugh, "Weak and wounded, close to death."
I just looked up at him with a crooked eye brow and my "Really" face.
That's when he looked worried, "Felicity?"
Before I could answer Uncle Iroh finally returned. He had all kinds of things he had found. There were some of our warmer clothing. Plus he had brought some food that he had found in surviving crates. We hung everything up to dry as we ate and regained our strength.
"Felicity, you had said Zhao was behind this attack?" Uncle asked as he boiled some water for tea. "It was you wasn't it, nephew? Why didn't you tell me you were the Blue Spirit?"
"I didn't want to get you involved, Uncle." Zuko hung his head in shame.
"It's not just your fault, Zuko." I placed my hand on his shoulder, "Zhao wanted me to go with him. He even told me if I did, he wouldn't look for the pirates, but I knew you would be fine so I stayed."
"It's not your fault, Felicity. Zhao has no honor." Uncle shook his head. "To think he would still try to use you and to kill my nephew, his prince."
I turned to Zuko, "You have to use this, Zuko."
"What? How can he do that?" Uncle asked quickly. "Zhao thinks that Zuko is dead. If he knew that Zuko was still alive then Zhao would only try to kill him again."
Zuko stood up and smiled, "So we continue to let him think I'm dead."
"That's right, Zuko! Zhao wanted Uncle and me to join him during the siege." I nodded.
"Yes, I thought as much. Uncle, you and Felicity go to Zhao and inform him of my death in the explosion." Zuko began to pace as he told us his plan. "I will sneak aboard and he will take me right to the Avatar."
"Brilliant plan, Nephew, but how are you going to sneak aboard?" Uncle Iroh looked from Zuko to me.
"He will be a wolf in sheep's clothing." I walked over to the trunk and pulled out the firebender's uniform.
"So you do know the future," Zuko smiled over to me.
"Like you had any doubt." I passed it over to him.
"Perfect! You both let Zhao know and get somewhere safe, I'll handle the rest." Zuko laid the uniform on the table.
Uncle Iroh shook his head once, "I cannot let you do this alone, nephew. I will be there in case something goes wrong."
Zuko looked over to Uncle Iroh, quite worried, "You don't have to do that, Uncle…"
"Me too," I added.
"No!" Zuko put his fist down. "I can't be worried about you! You are what Zhao wants and I will not lose you to him."
That statement caught my breath, "You're right, Zuko." I reached up and placed my hand on his fist, "You won't lose me to him, but I can't stand by and let you do this alone. I'm going to be by your side no matter what."
"Neither can I," Uncle stood up and put his hand on Zuko's shoulder.
Zuko smiled in his little way, "Thank you both. So this is what we are going to do."
Zuko put together his master plan. He didn't miss one tiny detail. We were to go to Zhao and explain what had happened. Uncle Iroh explained that he was going to accept Zhao's offer to join the Siege of the Northern Water tribe.
"Well, if that's it then we need to get our rest," Uncle Iroh laid a blanket from the shop on the floor. "We are going to have a big day ahead of us tomorrow."
Zuko nodded and moved towards the door, "I'm just going to keep watch outside….."
"Oh, no you're not," I grabbed his arm, "You are supposed to be dead, remember? If anyone sees you then the plan is toast." I pointed down at the blanket I had laid over the large bags of rice in the corner of the store. "Sleep! You are hurt, and if you want to pull this off you need to get some of your strength back."
Zuko reluctantly walked past me and laid down on the rice bags, "What about you? Where are you going to sleep?"
I just smiled and sat down next to him, "You're the pillow this time. Unless you're too hurt…."
"No," He answered quickly. I could see Uncle Iroh smiling over at us from the corner of my eye
I tried to get comfortable quickly so I disturbed him too much. I laid my head on his shoulder and circled my arm around his waist, "Zuko?"
"What?" He had his eyes closed as he answered me.
"If I hurt you…."
"You won't, now go to sleep."
He didn't have to tell me twice. I was exhausted after everything that had happened. I couldn't help but wonder what Ally was up to. Neither of us liked the cold so no doubt she was loving the frozen North. I couldn't wait to see how good she has gotten at waterbending. We will be there tomorrow but with Zhao.
