Parkinson Manor
Pansy was actually rather proud of herself, she managed to make it all the way through the late dinner the family elves had prepared without hexing either of her parents! Especially when they were talking about a possible contract with the Nott family for Theodore. Of course, neither of her parents were overly happy when she scoffed at the idea, she had never dared to disagree with her Father before, but when she actually sneered at the idea of being given to Nott? She thought that her father would be reaching for his wand!
She managed to stop him by saying, "Theodore Nott's family are currently missing several members, aren't they? All of whom died mysteriously just after midnight last night? Do you know what they had in common with all of the other mysterious deaths?" Her father gave her a sour look, but nodded, and she smirked, "That's right, they were all supposed to be 'imperious victims' during the last war. Now, how much influence will the Nott family have once the sheep start rubbing their two brain cells together?"
Surprisingly, her mother snorted at the way Pansy phrased things, but her father just glared at her. "Then just what do you propose for us to do? The family has to continue, that's not debatable, and there are very few acceptable families that would even consider an arrangement."
Pansy grinned, "I've already got a tentative arrangement with the Heir of the Black Family. You might know him as Harry James Potter? He's already chosen his Lady Black, and will be having Lord Black contact you about a contract between the two of us."
Her father froze, before his sour expression changed, a wide smile crossing his face. "The Black Family? And Harry Potter, the 'Boy Who Lived' is the Heir? Well damn! Why didn't you say so in the first place? That was extremely well done, and with the multiple marriage acts, he wouldn't have a problem letting your first born carry on the Parkinson name."
He paused, "You said he's already chosen the Lady Black? Who is she, and does she know about you?"
"Her name is Luna Lovegood, and she knows about me and approves of my joining the family. We all rode in the same compartment on the Express back to London."
He looked at her sharply, "I'm not going to ask how you convinced him to offer you a position, but I do hope that there won't be any gossip spread around. The Service Closet is one thing, that's tradition, but I will insist that you be discrete until any arrangement is finalized, is that understood?"
She huffed, "Honestly father! We were both fully dressed and Lady Potter, the Potter Consort and Concubine, as well as Lady Black and two other witches were all in the compartment when Lord Potter-Black made the offer! Do you think anyone would gossip with that sort of chaperonage?"
He looked at her for a long moment, before nodding his head sharply. "Keep it that way. I don't care what you do in private, I never have, but some of the people I have to deal with on the Wizengamot are not so open minded."
Changing the subject, Pansy leaned forward, "Speaking of the Ministry, how long before Fudge gets bounced out of office? With Lucius and Umbridge and the others around him dying of Dark Mark poisoning, there's no way he can survive. And who's being tapped to replace him?"
Her father smiled slightly, "Very good, you put that together a lot faster than anybody else that contacted me today. And I'd say the vote of No Confidence will take place by the first of the year, and there's a few names being floated, including Amelia Bones, but she doesn't want it, Tiberius Ogden and Samuel Abbott, which was a bit of a surprise."
Pansy laughed, "Put your support on Abbott, he's the next Minister!"
"You seem certain, why is that?"
"The two other witches I mentioned as being in the compartment? One of them was Hannah Abbott, and she's head over heels for Harry, and he's just as attached to her. There is a probable line continuation between them, but they don't know for certain. But the other witch was Susan Bones, the niece of Amelia Bones, who is currently spending the time she isn't at work in bed with Sirius Black! And Susan is also the Abbott Consort when the contract activates. So Hannah will get Lord Harry Potter-Black to support Abbott, and with Susan being attached to the Abbott family, that will bring Amelia and her supporters, not to mention the Chang's and the Patils, who have multiple ties with the merchant families. Ogden doesn't stand a chance!"
Her father actually laughed, "Oh yes, I see your point. And I will be offering to support his candidacy as well, the man is relatively honest and I can work with him. That information will be very useful in convincing others to fall into line. Yes, this could be very beneficial to our position. Well done, Pansy, I'm proud of you!"
Pansy smiled and nodded, that went a lot better than she'd expected. Although, from the smirk her mother was wearing, she was probably going to want a lot more detail. What the hell, she didn't have any problems bragging on her new family.
The Abbott Home
Hugging him, she went up the stairs, really looking forward to a bath and a good nights sleep.
That changed when she opened the door to her room and found her mother standing by the bed, the box with Harry's gift open in front of her. Hannah froze, unable to believe that her mother would violate her privacy this way. Her mother had always harped on privacy and not sticking her nose into things that weren't her business, but now she does this?
Hannah's wand was in her hand instantly, and the box slammed closed with a quick spell. "Do you mind, mother? That was a private gift and you have no business snooping through my belongings!"
Marilyn turned toward her, her face flushed, whether in embarrassment or anger, Hannah couldn't tell, and really didn't care. She stalked forward, "What did you think you were doing, going through my personal belongings? There is nothing in my trunk, and especially not in that box that is any business of yours."
Her mother took a step back, but Hannah kept walking forward, "I'm waiting mother! Did you have a reason for going through my belongings? Or were you hoping that I'd loan you my plugs to try and remove the beater's bat you've got shoved up your arse?"
"Hannah Penelope Abbott! How dare you talk to me that way! I was just concerned because of how close you seem to be to that Potter boy! I knew his father in school, and James Potter was a troublemaker from the very beginning, and I don't like the way you seem to be tangled up with his son! And you're dragging Susan into this? How do you think Amelia Bones will like her niece being dragged into these sorts of perversions?"
Her jaw dropped, "Perversions? What the hell is wrong with you mother? You spent just as much time on your knees as any other girl, and if you didn't have your tongue in another girl while you were in school you were probably the only one since the time of the founders! Yes, I've had Harry in my mouth multiple times, and I'm looking forward to having him in my mouth again as soon as possible! And as for how Amelia will like it, considering she and Sirius Black have been inseparable since he was cleared of all charges, I doubt she minds one bit! Now, are you prepared to explain what the real problem is, or do I take my trunk and spend the holidays at the Ossuary?"
Her father's voice came from behind her, "Nobody is going anywhere, especially not at this hour of the night. Marilyn, go to our room, I'll be speaking to you shortly!"
Her mother opened her mouth, but at her father's look, she shut her mouth and scurried from the room. Her father sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed, shaking his head.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that, but you know that she's always had kind of strange ideas about sex, even after seven years at Hogwarts, and it's gotten worse since we found out she can't have any more children. I've had her to see healers, but she doesn't seem to think there's a problem with her beliefs, and refuses to even try and change. And the hell of it is, she used to be a lot like you, enjoying the hell out of everything, including being buggered! Yes, I heard the entire conversation, the two of you were certainly loud enough. But, please be patient with her? I'm going to talk to her again, and try to get her to realize how close she came to losing you tonight. Hopefully that will help calm things down while you are home."
Hannah nodded, feeling ashamed of how she reacted, but then something her father said hit her, "Daddy? Did you say that mum started changing after she found out she couldn't have another baby? Did she have a miscarriage?"
Her father looked at her in surprise, but the expression on his face told her what she needed to know. Taking a deep breath, she said,
"I know you've contacted magical healers, but I'm really good friends with a muggle-born witch, and her parents are medical professionals, she was telling me about the problems with something called 'postpartum depression' after her mother lost a baby. There are treatments in the non-magical world, and you might want to see if that is the problem."
"I'll admit, I've never heard of something like that, but then, I'm not a healer. Can you contact your friend and see if you can get the name of a healer?"
She sighed in relief, "Sure, I've got her phone number, we are already planning to get together over the holiday, but I'll ask her to talk to her parents. But, can it wait until morning? I am really tired."
He smiled and gave her a hug, "Sleep tight, sweetheart, I'll see you in the morning."
Her father seemed to be walking a lot lighter when he left the room, and Hannah shut the door and stripped down for a quick shower. She was asleep almost before her head hit the pillow, her dreams filled with Harry, Cho, Susan and the other girls. It was a good thing that her father did not check on her during the night, he would not have appreciated seeing the state she was in as a result of the dreams.
The Ossuary
As soon as Harry managed to get to his feet after exiting the floo, he turned to Amelia and Sirius, "Madame Bones, I'd like to thank you for opening your home to me for the holiday, and I apologize if this seems rude, but would you mind if I borrowed Sirius for a little while? Some things happened today, and I really need to talk to him about them."
Amelia looked surprised, but when she glanced at Susan and saw that Susan seemed to be aware of what was going on, just gave him a nod. With a quick smile and a nod in return, he let Sirius lead him to the family library.
Once the door closed behind them, Sirius said, "So what's the problem, pup? You're usually at lot more polite than that."
Harry ignored the tone of rebuke, he could apologize later if he needed to, but he just took a seat and said, "You might want to sit down for this, Padfoot, because it's going to take a while."
When the other man was seated, Harry said, "Okay, the easy part first, I'm going to need you to contact the Head of the Parkinson family, Pansy Parkinson is extremely interested in being the Black Family concubine, and both Luna and I are in favor of the idea." He paused, "That reminds me, going to have to stop by the Rookery and talk to Xeno Lovegood about Luna becoming Lady Black. She's already agreed and is sure that her father will agree as well, but it's best to do things properly. Anyway, Pansy saw what I did to Malfoy this morning, and came to our compartment on the Express. And that's when things got really strange..."
Harry started talking, telling his godfather about what had happened after the ball, with his scar breaking open, and the problem with his magic, and then what happened on the Express. There was no humor at all on Sirius' face by the time he had finished, and he called for an elf to bring a bottle of fire-whiskey and two glasses.
Pouring each of them a drink, Sirius tossed his back, and waited while Harry did the same. When Harry finished coughing and shooting flames from his mouth, Sirius said, "Okay, I'll admit I've never even heard of anything like you described happening on the Express, but you said that Parvati didn't react any differently?"
Harry shook his head, "No, she was fine, extremely foul mouthed and happy, but that wasn't any different from last night. You think it might be something in the way Pansy's magic and mine connected?"
Sirius shrugged, "It's a possibility, but it's not something we can check tonight. Before we head to Gringotts in the morning, we can stop at the family home and check through the library. My family may have been darker than Satan's arsehole, but they hoarded books like a miser. Fortunately they also were demons about cataloging what they acquired, so it won't be an impossible search."
Harry felt a bit of relief at having a plan of action, it was not knowing how to try and solve the problem that was driving him spare. And the reminder of what he would be doing at Gringotts in the morning brought a smile to his face. Not only was he claiming his Head of House position, he and Cho were becoming officially betrothed!
Sirius was still talking, "While you're taking care of what you need to do, I'll get Gringotts to draw up a contract between the Blacks and the Parkinson's, and then I'll contact Alonzo Parkinson. When we meet, if we haven't found anything in the library, we can see if there's anything unusual about Pansy's magic that caused the reaction. To be honest, I'm inclined to think that it was just an unusual reaction to the Black family magic accepting her, especially since it didn't affect Parvati at all."
"So you don't think that being on the Express, instead of inside Hogwarts had anything to do with it?"
Sirius shook his head, "If Parvati had been affected, then I'd say it was possible, but since she wasn't..." He shrugged.
There wasn't much Harry could say to that, but fortunately his stomach decided to let it's displeasure be known, and the two of them laughed and headed down to a late dinner.
TEOHA & TEOHA & TEOHA
While Sirius and Harry were ensconced in the library, Amelia had walked with Susan up to her bedroom, looking concerned. When they were in Susan's room, Amelia looked at her niece and said "You didn't seem surprised that Harry wanted to talk to Sirius, can you tell me what is going on that has him acting so strangely? He seemed to be in a really relaxed mood when I saw him this morning."
Susan grimaced, "Yeah, and I don't blame him for being concerned, let me tell you about the trip back to London..."
Amelia listened intently as Susan spoke, and other than a quick smile and a hug when her niece told her that Hannah had offered her the role of consort, didn't say anything until Susan finished. She had been fairly skeptical when Sirius was telling her about the strange things that seemed to happen to Harry, but it seemed that, if anything, Sirius had been understating things. Either that, or he didn't know the extend of Harry's adventures. But that was something the two of them could discuss when they went to bed, this was more important at the moment.
"That would explain his concern, wouldn't it?" Amelia said, shaking her head, "You would think that with Tiny Tackle Tommy burning in hell things would settle down for him, but Harry just can't seem to catch a break, can he?"
Susan chuckled, "Actually, I think he would disagree, at least since Hannah noticed he was under a lot of pressure and started helping him out. He's been having a really good year since then."
A slight smile crossed Amelia's face, "Good point, I think most guys in Harry's situation would agree. I just hope that Hannah doesn't end up getting hurt if she and Harry aren't contracted together. I could see just how close the two of them are already just in the few minutes I spent talking to them after the Malfoy boy got escorted from the school."
Susan smiled, "I can't see that happening, Hannah told me about a conversation the two of them had yesterday morning, and if they aren't contracted together, Harry is going to offer to buy out whoever has the contract. Hannah said she had to stop herself from dropping to her knees right then and there! And after seeing the reaction Pansy had to swallowing him, I really can't say that I blame her."
Amelia gave her a grin, "So you haven't had the experience yet? I would have thought that you would have taken care of that on the ride home."
Susan shook her head, "I was going to, but then when Pansy had that crazy reaction, and she's had plenty of experience, I didn't want to take a chance, since I'd never done anything than the Comfort Room. And, to be honest, now that I'm not caught up in the excitement, I think I'm glad that I didn't do anything. I don't have any problem with the idea of sucking him, especially the way Hannah raves about it, but I'm not sure about actually having sex with Harry, not yet anyway."
"Really? Why's that? If you don't mind me asking. I'll understand if you don't want to answer, it's a bit more personal than I would want to answer if I were in your shoes."
Susan shrugged, "I guess I'm comparing the situation to what you said it was like for my parents. How they were actually dating for a while before doing anything. I mean, other than what Hannah has told me, I don't really know anything about Harry, and it just doesn't seem right for me to take off my knickers so quickly."
Amelia nodded, "Fair enough. There's nothing that says you have to have sex with him right away, or even at all. If he and Hannah are contracted, once it activates that's a different story, but you have plenty of time to get to know him before that happens. And with the strange way the Parkinson girl's magic reacted..."
Susan shook her head with a smile, "I'm sure she enjoyed the hell out of it, but it was scary as hell while it was happening for the rest of us. It was actually the first time in ages that I actually saw Harry looking confused. Hell, even when Draco was standing there with his wand pointed at us, he was completely in control."
The smile widened, "It's too bad we can't take pictures of Pensieve memories, because I'd love to get a permanent copy of Draco's expression when Harry and Hannah taunted him this morning. Of course, if they hadn't been ready for his idiocy it might not be so funny. What is kind of funny is that getting Malfoy arrested is what led to a lot of this craziness, because Pansy approached Harry to thank him for getting Draco out of the castle. Apparently he had been using the betrothal contract to take liberties Pansy didn't enjoy."
Amelia snorted in disgust, "Doesn't surprise me. Lucius was the same way from what I heard. But, without Daddy Lucius to spread his gold around, the little bastard is going to spend the rest of his life in Azkaban. He cast one of the Unforgivables, and there is no sign he was under an form of compulsion, the law is clear, it doesn't matter how old he is."
Susan shrugged, "No big loss, he's been causing trouble since the first day of Hogwarts, and only got worse as time went on. And with Snape dead, maybe Slytherin will get better. Hope so, anyway."
"Well, we'll see what happens, but for now, let's get something to eat."
12 Grimmauld Place
Tuesday, December 27th, 1994
8:30 am
He and Sirius had been in the house for less than 20 minutes, and Harry understood why Sirius hated the place so much. From finding the corpse of a house-elf laying on the ground, holding a locket in his clawed fingers, to the shrieking portrait hanging in the entryway, it would have driven Petunia and Vernon insane in a heartbeat from the sheer 'freakishness'. Not that Harry would have objected to anything unpleasant happening to his miserable relatives, but he'd really prefer to never see any of them again.
Sirius was up in the library, checking for anything that might explain what had happened with Pansy, and Harry looking around the various rooms, trying to stop himself from wondering what Susan wanted to talk to him about, because she seemed a bit nervous when they had dinner last night. She just said that she wanted to talk for a few minutes when he got finished at Gringotts. Even with all the experience he'd gotten with Hannah and Cho over the last several weeks, those words still made him nervous!
Harry was wandering the halls, sticking his head in any open doors, when he found what had to be Sirius's bedroom. The room looked like it hadn't been touched in years from the dust and dirt all over the place. But what really caught his attention was the Quidditch posters, showing the Gryffindor Quidditch team from Sirius's time at Hogwarts.
It was odd seeing a picture of his dad and Sirius in their Quidditch uniforms, about his own age, looking so carefree. He didn't know who the other players were, but Professor McGonagall was standing in the midst of the team, holding the Quidditch Cup, a wide smile on her face. It was strange seeing the woman smiling, she usually had an expression that reminded him of somebody sucking on a pickle. But thinking of Minerva McGonagall sucking anything wasn't something he wanted to think about, at all!
Turning, he left the room and headed toward the library, hoping that Sirius had found something useful. He also wondered if Dobby would be interested in taking the job of cleaning this place? The previous elf certainly hadn't been doing his job! Of course, that assumes that Sirius actually wanted to live here, since he and Amelia weren't for being separated, he probably wasn't interested in this place. Something to ask him later, Harry decided.
Sticking his head into the library, he saw Sirius staring at a book on a podium in the middle of the room, a look of frustration on his face. Grimacing, Harry walked in, "No luck?"
Sirius shook his head, "Not yet, it's still searching through the library. One bad thing about the family hoarding knowledge, it takes a long time, even with the cataloging the family did, to be able to find anything. What about you, did you find anything interesting?"
Harry shrugged, "Not really, but I was wondering, if you are planning on us living here, if you would object to me bringing an elf in to clean the place?"
Sirius pursed his lips, "Not really sure what I'm going to do with the house, but yeah, having it clean would make it easier if I decided to sell it."
Calling Dobby, the elf arrived almost instantly, and was thrilled to have a chance to clean the house. Harry left him to it, while he wandered around the library, waiting for the catalog to find something. The shelves were full of enough books to have Hermione creaming her knickers, but honestly, they didn't do anything for him. But when he got to a gap in the bookshelves, something caught his eye. The gap was fairly small, but it looked like there was a tapestry of some sort hanging on the wall behind the shelves. What caught his attention was that there were names, as well as burn marks on the part that was visible.
"Sirius? What's this, do you know?"
His godfather looked over at him, an expression of curiosity on his face, but he started smiling when he got a better look at what Harry was referring to. "Well damn, I wondered what had happened to that! It's the Black Family tapestry, going back to the beginning of the family. Give me a hand, let's get these shelves out of the way so you can take a look at it."
It took them a couple of minutes to maneuver the shelves far enough from the wall to let the two of them get a good look at the tapestry. "What are all the burn marks?"
Sirius snorted, "My dear departed mother, may she be buggered by frost giants, took her wand to the tapestry, burning off the names of people who didn't agree with her views." Pointing, he said, "See these two smudges? One is my cousin Andromeda, she married a muggle-born wizard. My mother lost what little sense she had over that, not that I blame Andy, her parents were trying to marry her off to Lucius Malfoy, but when she ran off, Narcissa got stuck with the ponce."
He shook his head, "With Lucius dead, I should probably get back in touch with Narcissa, especially since Draco is going to probably die in Azkaban. But I can do that later, if you look over here, you see this one? That's me, my mother tried to kick me out of the family when I ran away to stay with your dad." Blowing the coating of dust away, Sirius continued, "And here you are, the tapestry magically updates to show that you are my Heir, and this dotted line shows Luna as the future Lady Black... hello? What's this?"
Harry moved closer to see what had caught Sirius's attention, and saw that connected to his name, by a thick black line, was the name Pansy Parkinson, with the title 'Black Concubine' under her name, and the date 12/26/1994 next to it. He stared for a minute, before he started laughing. Just more weirdness in his life, why didn't it surprise him. When he stopped laughing, he said, "Well, that will make the negotiations with her father easier, I suppose. Do you think that's what the magic reaction was yesterday?"
"Makes as much sense as anything else," Sirius responded, shrugging. "I'm still going to check Pansy's magic when we meet, in case anything else shows up. But at least you're not going to have to make Susan wait much longer, I got the feeling she's getting a little anxious!"
Harry shook his head, "I don't know if she's anxious, or something different, but hopefully we can talk about what's bothering her. It's not like with Hannah and Cho, I've gotten to know them so well that I can usually figure out what's bothering them without them telling me, but with Susan I'm clueless. It's strange, but I actually know Pansy better than I know Susan, and, while I like Susan well enough, it feels weird, knowing that I'm going to be taking her to bed." He paused, a wry grin on his face, "If anybody had told me over the summer that I'd be concerned about shagging a gorgeous girl like Susan because I didn't know her, I'd think they were barmy! But it's not just a shag, is it? We're all really hoping that Hannah and I have that contract together, and Susan will be a part of our lives."
Sirius looked at his strangely for a moment, before saying seriously, "Have you told Susan that? She's probably just as anxious as you are, and there really isn't anything that says you two have to get naked in the next 24 hours is there?"
Harry shook his head, deciding not to mention that he'd already seen Susan naked, but he understood what Sirius was saying. Today was for Cho, but he would talk to Susan this evening and explain what he was feeling. Hopefully she'll understand.
Before he could say anything, there was a musical chime sounding, and Sirius swore, "That's the alarm to let me know we need to be heading to Gringotts. I'll have to come back this afternoon and check the catalog."
Harry nodded, a smile starting to form. He would worry about Susan later, this morning was for his Lady Potter, and he couldn't wait!
