JULY 5th, 1984

It had been late in the morning and Little Effie was 3 years old now. She was hidden under the kitchen table. It had been her favorite hiding spot, she would sleep there, hide there, read Lily's books and lots more under there.

She had been home alone, this unfortunately happened a lot. While her siblings were out with one of her Uncles, they thought she was home with Aunt Ava, but Ava would always be at work and that left Effie alone. That was when her favorite Aunt had walked into the house and instantly bent down and looked under the table, her Aunt knew Effie better than anyone, well with the exception of her Parents.

Effie looked up at her Aunt and crawled out from under the table, reaching up for her Aunt. "Auntie Ava!!" She said excitedly.

Her Aunt picked up her tiniest niece and placed her on her hip, hugging the small girl close to her. "Hi mini me, how was your day?" she asked the small girl looking slightly down at her. Smoothing out her messy red curls down. It was clear no one paid attention to her hair that day.

"It was good Auntie Ava! Boring, but good!" she said to her Aunt, this made Ava raise an eyebrow. Effie was supposed to be with Sirius or at least they should have been there with her, and made Ava ask herself inside her head before then asking Effie "Effie darling?".

"Yes Auntie Ava?" She said to Ava softly. She started to gently play with the ends of Ava's hair, "Sweetheart, where is your uncle Padfoot? And your siblings?". Effie looked up at Ava, "They left".

Ava stayed silent for a second. 'Wait…so James or Lily must be here…wait! No they couldn't, they were on a mission…so…Bloody hell I know you're lying' she thought over in her head, "So have you been here by yourself…all day?!" she asked the little girl who nodded softly, "It happens a lot." This dumbfounded the Potter twin even more. Oh she was going to murder them.

That was when James walked in with Lily behind him, Effie saw them walk through the kitchen door and smiled excitedly. "Mummy! Daddy!" She screamed happily as she reached out for her two parents, James had been closer so he gently took Effie from Ava's arms and gave her a big hug which Effie was more then happy to return, gently clinging onto him and smiling at her mother how reached up and placing a soft kiss on her forehead, running her fingers through Effie messy locks for fire.

James, noticing the look of displeasure on his twin sister's face, handed Effie over to Lily gently (which Effie allowed to happen happily wrapping her arms and legs around Lily giving her a hug) and asked Ava "Ava what wrong?"Ava responded with her voice cold and in overprotective Aunt mode, "I just came home-". James quickly responded with "Oh so didn't something happen at

work?", "No.." She said quickly then just asked quickly and kept talking "And ground nobody here but Effie hiding under the table!"

Both the Potters looked at the female version of James like she had just grown three heads. Lily had been the first to speak, "What do you mean?! So Effie was just left here alone?!!" Asking with both concern and anger in her voice, all Ava was capable of doing was nodding at that moment. James had just gone to speak when they all heard the front door open. The three Adults looked at each other before sprinting out of the kitchen over to the front door.

Sirius had been walking in after letting the two younger Potter twins in giggling and laughing, when he looked up and saw the three adults standing there pissed with a little scared looking Effie in Lily's eyes, he gulped. "Why do I have a feeling I'm in trouble?" He said slowly, being very careful with his words as Ava was the first one to speak up.

"Sirius, why did I come home and find out Effie had been left here ALONE all day?" She raised a dangerous eyebrow up at him. The godfather of the two older Potter children looked at them shocked. "What do you mean?! I was told that she had gone out with you-" He said quickly with just as much concern. James finally spoke up "Pads. Mate, how could she have been with Ava when we told you Ava went to work and you know what Ava does for work?" Sirius had gone silent and smacked his forehead for being so stupid. "Who even told you Effie was with Ava anyway?".

Sirius then pointed to the 4 year old Harry and Olivia who were trying to sneak out of the room.

"Freeze you two." James said with a stern, cold dad voice that made the two children freeze and turn to look at him. "What made you think to tell Uncle Padfoot that Effie was with Aunt Ava when you two know she went to work and Effie was supposed to be with you two and your uncle?" James asked in a soft but stern tone.

Harry was the first to speak "Well we-" that's when Olivia cleared her throat cutting off Harry, her way of telling him to tell the truth, "I. Wanted it to just be me, Liv and Uncle padfoot. I didn't see the harm in leaving her here." Harry had said confidently.

James had sighed, Harry had always been like this when his youngest sister. "The harm is. Your sister is three years old and can nearly make it out of her bed without needing some sort of help! I understand sometimes you want alone time with Liv and Uncle Pads, if you do you say something and maybe your sister could have gone with you Grandmother, or Uncle Moony. I don't want to hear that this has happened AGAIN-" just as he was about to finish is when Sirius spoke up again "Wait, He always has told me that Effie has been with Ava, Mumma Effie or Moony-", Sirius explained.

James rubbed his temples soothingly "Pads can you take Harry and Olivia to their rooms please?" Sirius nodded and took the twins up to their room.

James had stood back up and looked over at his youngest girl who had fallen asleep, clung tightly onto her mother. James had instantly calmed down, he instantly calmed down looking at any of his children. He was mad at the two twins, he was just frustrated. He walked over to Lily and Effie and looked at Effie's calm sleeping face

'How could anyone not want to be around this sweet face?' James asked himself as he placed a gentle kiss on the top of Effie's forehead. Lily then looked up at him and smiled softly, "I'm going to take her up to our room, she's on there tight and you know once she's on, she doesn't come off" Lily said with a light chuckle as she ran her fingers through the small finger locks. James nodded and gently gave Lily a soft quick kiss, then watched as she took Effie with her upstairs to their room.

He then turned and looked at Ava as he sighed, she didn't need to respond for him to understand that she felt the same way. "Was it obvious that she was here alone?" he asked her softly. "Honestly no it wasn't. All the doors were locked, and the windows. And they weren't when Sirius had left because he sent me a patronus saying that he had left the back door and the side door unlocked for me" she said quietly, then thinking hard.

This sent the two into curiosity, because if the doors were left unlocked, Then locked later on when they were there all day. That would mean the only person who could have locked them..was Effie??...
