September 2nd, 1984

Ava had walked into the living room to find little Euphemia sitting on the couch, she had been looking through another one of Lily's books. Effie did that a lot, always curious with books. 'Alike mother like daughter' Ava had said in her head, that's when she walked over to the little red head and Effie looked up at her and smiled.

"Hi Auntie Ava!" Effie said as she put the book down as Ava picked her up. "Hi Lovely, how are you?" Ava asked her, holding Effie close to her. "I'm good!", Effie said excitedly. Ava smiled and ruffled Effie's hair which made her giggle, "Auntie Ava?" Effie asked softly.

"Yeah lovely?". "Why does the book keep talking about magic?", this stunned Ava for a second. How could a three year old understand the words? Ava shook it off and answered her, "It's because we're magic, and one day you'll go to school and learn all you can".

This made Effie very excited, "Really?! So you can do magic??!". Ava nodded with a soft smile. "Can I see?!" The little girl asked as her eyes brightened. Ava nodded and put Effie down onto the couch and pulled out her wand and did the simple 'Lumos' charm, the tiny ball of light appearing on the end of her wand.

See now, to anyone this may seem like a very simple, easy spell. Which, it was. But to this three year old, it was amazing. Like..this tiny ball of light made her entire world light up! Effie smiled brightly and Ava smiled back at her. Then the light soon went away.

"You can also do it without a wand but it's harder to get, took me a good bit before I could get it", Ava explained showing the small light again but this time in the palm of her hand. Effie smiled and then tried it herself, but of course failed. Ava chuckled, "I told you, it's hard". Effie playfully pouted.

"Can I try again?" Effie asked softly and Ava nodded, it was better to let her get the jitters of the excitement out now then having her curious and trying it on her own, in case something went wrong. This time Effie opened her little palm and imagined the funny word in her head, 'Lumos'.

And then the tiny light appeared.

Ava looked at it in shock and amazement, how did she do that?.. Effie smiled widely and yelled, "I did it!!". Ava then smiled and kissed the top of her head, then the light went away. Ava then called for her brother and sister in-law. "Jamie! Lily!", the two Potter came over to her, James from his office upstairs and Lily coming from out back and through the kitchen.

"What's up?" James said smiling at Effie and putting his arm around Ava as Lily sat next to Effie, Lily pulling the little girl onto her lap. Ava looked at Effie and asked her softly, "Do you wanna show Mummy and Daddy what you just did?", Effie nodded excitedly and held out her hand, think of the word again and the tiny ball of light appered leaving both Lily and James in Shock.

Then, in awe. James was the first to say, "How did she-", "I dont know!" Ava quickly said and Lily turned Effie to look at her and softly asked "Effie darling? How did you do that?", "I looked at the book! I remembered the word and though about what the word looked like in my head and the it happened! It's how the doors locked too-".

This shut everyone up real quick.

"Prongslette, what do you mean that's how the doors got locked?", James asked softly as he kneeled down to Effies level. "When I was walking down stairs, I heard something outside…it was loud, like someone hit a shield…and I got scared and when I ran under the table I bumped into the wall..and it locked the doors." Euphemia explained.

Ava softly groaned, greatful that the old wards on Potter Manor still worked as well as they did when they were put up. But then immediately sent a message out to her boss, letting him know what was happening. James and Lily looked at each other shocked, they couldn't believe that their three year old managed to lock every door in the house just by bumping to the wall out of fear.

"Have you learned anything else?" Lily asked softly, "I can summon things! Like Foxie!" Just then the stuffed Fox flew over into Effies hands.

The three adults started to put details together now. A lot of the time their fixing lights because the go out when Effie get really sad, Mad or anxious. When she focuses on something, things happened. Like once when she walk playing with Ava's hair and accidentally turned it blue, or when she was glaring as a photo of You- know - who, and all she could understand was that he mad Mummy, Daddy and Aunt Ava sad, so she glared the the photo so much it caught on fire.

The three adults thought it was each other who were doing these things, but it reality it was Effie. She could do wandless magic, or what's known at accidental magic since she was so young, but it was advanced. She couldn't control it, and you could see the fear in little Effie's eyes when she did anything.

That day, Ava, James and Lily said to themselves that they would teach Effie how to control how to use her abilities.

They would do it, so Effie didn't have to fear herself.
