Btw this is after JJ gets fired and kiara paints murderer on Wards wall.
Prologue
"Hey mom dad can I talk to you for a second?" Kiara asked her parents
"yeah sure" they sit down,
"I'm dating someone" her mom claps and her dad smiles
"who's the lucky guy" Kiara takes a deep breath
"JJ maybank" the smiles fall of her parent's faces,
"before you judge. Can we have him over for dinner just so you can get to know him"
her mom sighs "fine."
JJ was getting ready for dinner with Kiara's parent's.
"Do you think this will work?" JJ asks Pope,
"you'll be fine sweetie" Mrs, Heyward says
"thanks" he says
"alright I gotta go. Wish me luck" "
"good luck" Pope was still a bit bitter about them but was trying to be happy for them.
He knocks on the door. Kiara tries to get to the door before her dad but fails "hello JJ" her dad says puffing out his chest,
"hey Mr C" JJ says nervous, he just stares at JJ trying and succeeding to intimidate him,
"ok dad leave him alone" Kiara says dragging JJ in to the house,
"let's go to my room" Kiara says
dragging him upstairs when her mom yells "keep the door open"
Kiara rolls her eyes but says "got it."
In Kiara's room, "how is Pope? Haven't heard from him in a while"
JJ scratches the back of his neck
"as good as he can be"
Kiara nods "how are you?" She says running a hand through his hair,
"miss him a lot. But I'm better now" he says leaning his forehead against hers "I love you" he whispers
"I love you too" they hear someone clear their throat making them jump apart,
"dinners ready" her mom says and walks downstairs.
They begin to eat when Mr, C asks "so what are your plans for the future?"
"Dad really" he ignores her and looks at JJ,
"uh well I'm pretty good with boats so maybe one day own a charter shop" JJ says, and her dad nods
"college?"
"Uh no sir don't have the money or the smarts for that"
"JJ your smart" he looks at her with a questioning look,
"street smarts, which are more important in real life" she says and he nods unsure so she grabs his hand under the table.
They haven't even been able to eat because of her dad's questions and right when she thinks he's done he asks "how's your dad?" JJ tenses,
"I uh gotta go to the bathroom"
"Jayj" Kiara says. She turns towards her dad and says "really dad" she gets up and goes to the bathroom.
"JJ it's me" Kiara says and he opens the door,
"I saw him at the store today"
"what! Are you ok" she checks him for injuries
"yeah he didn't see me"
Kiara sighs, "wanna ditch?" She asks
"Kie I want to make a good impression on your parents"
she groans "fine. But I definitely deserve a prize later" she flirts
"of course" he kisses her and they walk back to the table hand in hand.
The rest of dinner is mainly silence, they guessed her mom told her dad not to bring up Luke because that's the only thing she's good about, is reading the room.
They are sitting on the couch while her parents clean up, she's cuddled in his side while she scrolls through Twitter him reading over her shoulder.
"Oh this is cute" she shows him a picture of a puppy
"one day I want a dog" she says and he smiles, he imagines the dog running through the doggy door in their house as he holds his baby, Kiara's watching tv when the dog runs in and it jumps in her lap, he goes and sits next to them and she kisses him and their baby. Whoa where did that come from.
"Alright you two it's getting late JJ should head home" her dad says and JJ nods
"I love you" he says kissing her
"I love you too" she says Into the kiss. He gets up saying goodnight and leaving.
"So go ahead tell me how much better I could do" her mom sighs
"I don't like that it's a pogue especially a Maybank, but he seems to genuinely care about you." That was not the response she was expecting,
"don't like him. Something is off about him" her dad says and she rolls her eyes,
"alright I'm tired and tomorrow is the first day of school so I'm gonna head to bed"
"goodnight sweetie" she goes upstairs but faintly hears her mom say "don't worry about it Mike she's young. She will realize she can do better sooner or later"
End of prologue. I know it was short but it's a prologue for a reason.
