Annabelle stands with her friends at the rally for Mayor McCoy. She's running against Hiram Lodge's wife, Hermonie, Veronica's mom. While hearing the two women debate, Annabelle sees something out of the corner of her eye, aiming straight at Sierra McCoy. Her instincts suddenly take over, and she rushes to the front of the podium, tackling Sierra to the ground. The bullet misses her and hits the wall behind them. Everyone in the room starts panicking and running around. Some try to hide and flee the rally. Sometime later, the shooter gets away, and Sierra thanks Annabelle for saving her, naming her the Protector of Riverdale.
Later that day at Pop's, she, Betty, and Veronica discuss Annabelle's new role. Veronica gushes about how she can't believe her cousin was named the Protector of Riverdale. Annabelle confesses to them her doubts and fears about her new position. Veronica reminds her of how Annabelle already protected the town when her cousin helped her rescue her newfound boyfriend, Archie, from her ex-boyfriend last winter. Betty also reminds her of how she helped her and Jughead solve the mystery of the Black Hood.
Annabelle starts to feel at ease in accepting the new job.
