Pauline
Chapter Three
Pauline Valiant or simply Pauline finds herself excited as she and her girls march unto the airport. She is frankly quite excited about this trip of theirs to Jurrasic World. She is familiar of course of the risks, Lex has been rather quite clear and vivid about her telling of the things she has been subject to during the accident that brought the original Jurassic Park on its knees.
She is not afraid though. Part of the thrill of going to a place like Jurassic World where prehistoric monsters or animals have been brought back to life is the thrill of the danger. Sure there are great assurances to the public that the danger would be non-existent and Jurassic World under the security of Hamada maintains a hundred percent major accident proof when it comes to the guests visiting the island; however there are always that element of danger when it comes to visiting such a place.
That is also why Pauline is best friends with her little group. She has to admit that they are rather a diverse group. Lex is American of course, Sophie is French, Claudia is part Filipino while she herself is part British. The four of them are simply adventurous. She has lost count of them going into the wild many times with only their gear, their wits and their knowledge keeping them safe together. Lex of course as ever leads them. She can see it, the ever grinding thirst of proving that she would be able to overcome her fears in the eyes of her friend. She cannot blame Lex for doing so. The woman has dealt with real life trauma and danger cranked up to maximum when she's just a kid. It would take a long time, if not for a lifetime for her to totally get over with it.
As for Pauline she's just happy that she can keep up. Her friends have their own impressive resumes to lean on. She has to say that hers is also not bad. Sure she does not have the weapons skill of her three friends but she's always pretty handy in a fight. Her ability around technology is also quite impressive if she dares say so herself. Being a bomb defuser specialist means that you have to know your way after all around wires and stuff that would bamboozle any regular human. She's also a very good swimmer, a complete au de natural when it comes to the water compared to her friends. Last time they went shark diving, she is the only one who didn't panic when a very pissed off tiger shark tried to chew through the shark cage they were in.
"What terminal is it again?" she asks Lex who is sporting something akin to a daring red tube crop top showing her entire abs and baring her upper shoulders and chest.
In fact now that she mentions it, all of them agreed that they would be wearing crop tops of different designs. Sophie is wearing a dark blue one shoulder crop top, Claudia is wearing a more modest gray collar necked one while she herself, gravitates to the black spaghetti crop top design. All of them are sporting shorts showing off their toned legs. As the old saying goes: if you've got it, show it.
"First Terminal, we are so fucking late," says Claudia grumbling as she eats a burrito while dragging her own suitcase.
"Come on, hurry up you three or else the plane is leaving without us," hisses Sophie who is also dragging her own luggage. No words can be said as with a little encouragement from their French friend, they manage to arrive at the terminal just in time huffing and puffing which only do wonders to their forms if the rather staring of the boys in the vicinity is any indication.
"Can't believe we almost miss the plane because we have to go back for Claudia's sun-hat though," grumbles Sophie.
"Hey! Don't diss the hat. This cost me a lot ya know. Besides, I would not like to have my skin burned like you guys. It's going to be hot when we get there," sniffs Claudia.
Pauline just laughs alongside Lex and Sophie before noticing two boys also on the same row of seats with them. One of them looks like high school age while the older looks like he could be on the way to college soon. With a bright smile, Pauline just waves at them making them turn beet red with the smaller smacking the arm of his older brother who regains his composure and focuses instead on his phone.
Focusing back to her friends, Pauline blinks as she sees the rather raised eyebrow of Lex looking at her.
"What? They're staring so bad I guess they could use a little positivity," she shrugs.
"They're too young for you, you know," points out Lex making Pauline grin at her friend and employer.
"Good I want them fresh," she jokes making the older woman roll her eyes at her answer even as she sniggers. Leave it to Lex to be quite uptight.
Their little banters however are ended quickly as the sound of the intercom at the top once more chimes catching everyone's attention.
"To all passengers of Flight 9-3 heading to Costa Rica, please head to the departure area for boarding," it chimes before repeating itself twice more.
With a nod to her fellows, Pauline follows the queue of men and women who are also taking the flight. Immediately she can tell that majority of them would be going to Jurassic World if the brochures they are holding in their hands are any indication. In a way she's not surprised. Jurassic World is a major attraction with a five star rating. It is not that far to imagine that people would be lining up the queue in an attempt to visit the place where the past is brought back to the present.
Helping Claudia with her bag, Pauline grins in a completely Cheshire manner as the male flight attendant gawk at the four of them before his fellow worker slaps him at the back of the head snapping him back at the present as he takes their tickets and are looking at anything but them.
It's just the flight towards there and Pauline can already see that it is going to be fun.
…..
The reality of how great an attraction Jurassic World is smacks Pauline and her friends the moment they got into the docks where the ferries of Jurassic World await. Simon Massrani in order to accommodate its thousands of guests have commissioned five large and newly developed ferries from Costa Rica's most luxurious ferry maker, Com and Go Islas. Compared to a regular ferry, these large delivery ships are filled to the brim with as much luxury as one can afford in order to give the guests coming to Jurassic World the best comfort on their way there.
When Pauline and company finally arrive there where the ferries await, they suffice it to say find the queue lines of the ferries quite surprising. They have expected of course that Jurassic World is a world class attraction and therefore would draw crowds, but they do not expect this much of crowds and it's not even peak season.
Thankfully, it is Massrani's personal VIP tickets that save the day. Just a talk with one of the sailors of the ferries and presenting the VIP passes to them as proof and Pauline with the rest of her friends find themselves luxuriously resting on the bridge of one of the vessels. Unlike the rest of the passengers which are crammed on the lower levels, her little group is more comfortable with their very own bar and food, the waiter cramming from the lower decks to even deliver their menus to them.
"I am Captain, Nicholas De Amas, in behalf of Jurassic World, I thank you VIP's for making the time to make the trip to visit our little humble little park in this modest boat of mine," the captain says just as Pauline and her group got their first appetizers.
"Since this is our first trip to Jurassic World captain, tell me. Is it really this much people coming and going to the island?" asks Lex who has just taken a bite out of her muffin pastry smearing white clouds on her lips which Sophie has to kiss away.
"Nay, this is nothing compared to the usual crowds that come. You gals are lucky it's the middle of the year when children are schooling. It usually is more crowded during holidays or the summers. You should have seen the crowds and the reservations. The hotels at Costa Rica are packed to the brim with people wanting a chance to get to the island,"
"We are lucky then that we got the VIP treatment eh?" grins Claudia punching Lex's arm gently. "I would be thanking Mr. Massrani personally once I get to the island if only because of this delicious cocktail,"
"Tell me though Captain. Is the island really safe?" asks Pauline leaning on her hands ignoring the stares of some of the people at them due to their outfits.
"Aye, as safe as one can be in an island full of dinosaurs. I'm kidding!" he adds laughing as Lex's head snaps at him. "It is very safe. The people in charge of Jurassic World takes security so seriously that we have no major accident except for that moronic Free the Dinosaurs mumbo jumbo hippie who put his arm over the Dilosophaur pen and got it bitten off. My personal opinion, the idiot deserved it,"
"So we have nothing to worry about?" asks Sophie who is drinking now from Lex's cocktail.
"Nothing except lovesick people who might try to get to know you four with how you dressed yourselves," the Captain stares unashamedly making Pauline grin.
"Hey what's the point of having it if you don't show it? As far as I'm concerned, hear me roar! Right guys!" she hollers loudly to the rest of the crew who for once gets along with it as they cheer with her.
"Well you four are certainly different from the rest of the VIP's I am forced to make goodie two shoes with," says the Captain. "Most of them are company stuck-ups that can't seem to take one joke,"
"We are here on vacation, and we three usually makes sure that our company stuck-up friend here gets a little fun every now and then," claims Claudia elbowing Lex's bare stomach making the blonde mock glare at her.
"Ohh you're an businesswoman too?" asks the Captain turning to Lex who nods.
"Yes I am, owner of Lex Agricorp Industries. I specialize usually in agricultural products that we trade export all over the world from different parts of the world,"
The Captain whistles at that. "Damn woman, you must be rich. If you are single I would have loved to introduce you to my son. He is a good young man if a bit touched in the head with how much he loves reading books,"
"Nah she's taken," butts in Sophie throwing her arms around Lex.
"Shame," the Captain sighs before perking up. "You know, my boy would not say no to two beautiful women clinging to his arms,"
"WE REFUSE!" Lex and Sophie both says in unison making the captain laugh alongside the rest of the crewmembers within hearing vicinity.
"I am just joking all of you. But I do admit it's a shame," he sighs good-naturedly. "You must be very rich having the money to take not only one but four VIP passes. Not even some celebrities can afford it,"
"Not exactly rich Captain, but Mr. Massrani is my godfather and he personally gave us these to convince us to come to his island of his,"
"Wow, no wonder you three are acting all so relaxed. No large amount of cash is lost to get those high class entrance seats,"
"To VIP passes," Pauline raises her cocktail. "Cheers,"
"Cheers,"
….
"Wow!" Pauline can't help but exclaim as she beholds the opening docks of Jurassic World. There's literally merchandise everywhere from jackets to hats and tabletop toys by the dozens. Her and her little retinue have finally arrived here after two hours of non-stop flirting on the ferry. They have taken almost fifty pictures and selfies with the crew on the bridge and even the poor bartender had been dragged along on the small amount of madness and fun.
"There must be dozens upon dozens of stalls here and we are just at the entrance," whistles Claudia looking at the vendors shouting their merchandizes to get the attention of the incoming flood of visitors.
"There's those two boys we've seen from the airport," points out Lex to indeed the two boys being fetched by a woman wearing a suit with an office secretarial look on her part.
"Should have realized that they're going here also," whistles Pauline. "They might also know someone from here. That lady that fetched them looks like she's high on the ladders here,"
"Anyway enough chit-chat let's get to that monorail before it leaves. I would hate to delay our visit here any longer," says Lex leading the way as Pauline follows behind Claudia last joining the throng of people trying to get first in line to the monorail heading to the park.
"Hey! Hey! Form a line! This is not a market!" one irritated park ranger tries to call out, trying and failing to quell the chaos as more and more people are forming up, an entire mass of chattering, talking, and giggling group.
"I've got VIP passes," yells out Lex raising her pass for the man to see through the group. Thankfully the man sees it for he whistles and five security guards immediately cuts through the people like a hot knife through butter getting to the place where Pauline is waiting with her friends.
Of course such special attention catches the eye of everyone making them turn immediately to the source. More than one whistles out as they catches the outfits of Pauline and her friends with even one daring to say "hot damn" within earshot of hers and her friends.
"You've got VIP passes?" asks the lead guard standing in front of Lex.
"I do, me and three others, my friends," she answers gesturing to the rest of the group while raising the four passes.
"Good, come with us. You're all seating at the front," he sniffs eyeing the outfits of all four once before turning back with his men clearing the way of now grumbling visitors with many a muttering of "unfair".
Grinning, Pauline falls in behind Sophie this time as the guards lead them to the monorail past the crowd where a front row group of seats at the front separated from the rest are waiting empty. Immediately they waste no time sitting in and strapping themselves as the guards return to help out the overworked park ranger who are now sorting the people one by one into the other parts of the train at the middle and the back. To Pauline's surprise though, there at the front with them also seated are the two boys that they see from before. With a Cheshire grin, she stands up unlocking her seatbelts just as the monorail starts to move.
Her friends must have seen her expression for they tried and failed to stand up from their seats.
"Pauline no! No, don't you dare! Have pity on them," chimes Claudia which is wholly ignored by her as she saunters her way towards the two who of course completely notices her approach.
"Hey there boys," she stands in front of them leaning on the benches at her back. "I'm Pauline. I've noticed you from the airport before," she begins as the two nervously nods trying to look at anywhere but her rather toned form. Their caretaker she notices are too busy texting on her phone and are promptly ignoring her.
"I've noticed you two staring before at me and my friends, more than one time perhaps and I thought it would be nice to introduce myself. My name's Pauline. What are yours?" she slyly asks making sure there's a purr in her tone.
The young one it seems manage to regain his composure first. He's got the young geeky look so Pauline deduces that her charms might not fully react to his hormones fully yet unlike his brother who is finding the ceiling of the monorail to be completely interesting.
"I am Gray and this is my brother Zach," he indicates to his brother. "Zach likes you and your friends by the way. He says that you four look sexy as hell," his last words are stopped by a hand covering his mouth by his older brother.
"Please forgive him, he does not know what he says," he stammers fastly before glaring at his brother. "And he also needs to learn when to shut his mouth either,"
"Oh no, no, no. I take that as a compliment. It is not everyday someone is brave enough to say that to our faces. How old are you two?" she asks.
"I'm Sixteen and Gray here is Ten," answers Zach whose face it seems have been glued to every bit of skin of Pauline's form with her so close.
"That's great. You are VIP's also like us. Would you like to sit with-," Pauline is brutally cut off by Claudia and Sophie pulling her by the arms back.
"HEY!"
"Forgive our friend. She can be a little flirtatious at boys who fail to resist her charms. Enjoy your trip," says Claudia in apology to the two boys who are only too happy to make fast nods as Pauline finds herself being dragged back to her seat by the two.
"You guys are no fun," she pouts at her friends who rolls their eyes at her.
"They're too young Pauline. Find yourself a different target next time," sniffs Claudia. "Besides, we are going to have all the fun in the world soon. Look, we are here,"
Indeed as Pauline turns her attention away from the boys and into the crystal open space at the roof of the monorail. She can see the giant logo of a great gate opening. Written on it is:
Welcome to Jurassic World
They are finally here.
