Sorting through the boxes occupying Amy's apartment a few days after Christmas, Bernadette recapped, "So the boxes out here are stuff you're getting rid of and the boxes in your room are what you're keeping, right?"

"Yes," confirmed Amy, looking around the living room, "The donation company is picking up the stuff out here tomorrow and the movers will be here for everything else the day after. I'm turning in my key on New Year's Eve and hitting the road first thing the next morning."

Penny came up alongside her friend, slinging her arm around her shoulder, "You're sure you don't want us to come with you? It's not a big deal for us to take a few days off so you aren't driving alone."

"No, I appreciate the offer, but this is something I need to do by myself. I promise to call both of you and give you updates of where I am and if I make any stops along the way." Amy double-checked the contents of a box, labeled it with the marker on the counter, and added it to the pile behind the couch.

Emerging from the bathroom, Bernadette had a medium-sized box in her arms. "This box was in the hallway. It isn't labeled. What's in it? Is it a keep or donate box?"

Amy took the box and scurried to her room with it. Returning, she explained, "It's just some random stuff that doesn't belong in the other boxes. I'll know what's in it without being labeled. Besides, it's not going with the movers. I'm taking it in my car."

"Amy," sighed Penny, exchanging a look with Bernadette.

"Is it vibrators?" squealed the shorter woman.

Blushing, Amy denied her friends' suspicions, "No, I don't have any of those."

Penny raised an eyebrow, "So that electric toothbrush is just a toothbrush? What did you say you called it? Gerald?"

"Gerard," Came Amy's response before she could deny the accusations. The blondes let out squeals that only dogs could hear. "Oh, shut up. Isn't it time for you two to go home?"

"What are you doing?" Sheldon abruptly asked upon returning to his apartment, finding Penny and Leonard preparing a spread of food.

Waving her arms, motioning to the food surrounding them, Penny volunteered, "We're having a New Year's Eve slash going away party for Amy. If you don't want to join us, you're more than welcome to spend the night in my apartment across the hall."

"No. I will not be kicked out of my apartment for you to have a party. Why can't you have the party across the hall? You've had plenty of parties there. What makes this one so special that it has to be here?"

Leonard watched as Sheldon stormed down the hall, waiting to hear his bedroom door close with much more force than usual. "I kind of forgot to mention this to him the other day when you brought it up. I'll go talk to him."

"Sheldon," Leonard quietly called out after knocking on his roommate's door. "Can I talk to you?" After some movement on the other side of the door, it slowly opened. "I was supposed to talk to you about the New Year's party earlier this week. Don't be angry at Penny. She's just trying to do something nice for Amy before she leaves tomorrow."

Crossing his arms in front of his chest, Sheldon shook his head, "No. Have it at Penny's. I'll attend for a little while, but will leave in plenty of time for me to not be up past my bedtime."

"We won't be loud. It won't be any different from any other night that everyone comes over, except we'll have more food and there will be champagne at midnight. Penny even picked up sparkling cider for you because she knows you don't care for champagne."

"I don't think so."

Leonard could sense this was a losing battle. "I'll take you to see the new Star Wars movie again tomorrow and you can get whatever you want from the snack bar." Sheldon rolled his eyes at the physicist. "Okay, Star Wars plus I'll take you to Disneyland next weekend. Did you see they have a talking Darth Vader that you can meet now?"

"Fine. You can take me to the movies and Disneyland. I will be retreating to my room promptly at nine-forty-five so I'm ready for bed by ten. I expect any music to be turned off at that time and there to be minimal cheering at midnight."

"I'll let Penny know the conditions we agreed to. Thank you, Sheldon. Everyone should be here by eight."

The group of friends gathered later that evening, with everyone mingling and congratulating Amy on her new opportunity. Sheldon was the only one who hadn't approached the neurobiologist. He was making his escape to his bedroom when Amy emerged from the restroom and stopped him in the hallway. "Hi, Sheldon."

"Amy. Hello. I was going to bed. Have a good evening," he took a few steps closer to his bedroom.

"Wait. Can we talk?"

Glancing around the hallway, Sheldon reluctantly agreed. "Girls aren't allowed in my bedroom, but we could talk in there if you don't want anyone around." He opened his bedroom door, ushering the woman inside. Sheldon paced like a nervous cat as Amy stood next to his bed. "What do you want to talk about?"

"I wanted to be sure I said goodbye to you. Thank you, Sheldon." He cocked his head at her statement. "I wouldn't have been offered this opportunity if it weren't for my research at Cal Tech and I would never have taken the position there if you didn't work there."

"Oh, um, you're welcome. This is an amazing opportunity for you and I'm happy for you."

Amy hid a small smile. "I know it's early, but I'm going to head out. I'm leaving pretty early tomorrow, but I wanted to talk to you first. Have a good night, Sheldon."

"Good night, Amy," he replied, watching the woman he used to love slip out the door.

Sheldon proceeded to change into his pajamas and brush his teeth to prepare for bed. Upon returning to his bedroom, he noticed the water glass next to his bed was empty. In need of a clean glass, he returned it to the kitchen. He was reaching for a new glass from the cabinet when he heard Bernadette inquire, "Where's Amy? I haven't seen her in a while."

"She said she was leaving early tomorrow. She left twenty minutes ago," stated Sheldon as he crossed back to the hallway leading to his bedroom.

"I can't believe she left without saying anything," snapped the short woman.

Penny shrugged, "I can. She wasn't thrilled about having a party to begin with. It looked like she talked to everyone though. I'll call her to check that she's okay."

Thank you to everyone who has read & reviewed so far. I'm thinking about changing from posting on Fridays. With it being the end of the week, I find myself forgetting I need to post and rushing to do it in between whatever else I'm doing on a Friday night (which, let's be honest, is usually quilting and watching To Catch a Smuggler with my mom.) I haven't decided when I'm going to change my updates, but keep an eye out for sometime before Friday.
