Chapter 4: First Impressions
Bella sat at the Slytherin table, Luna, her sleek black panther companion, resting gracefully at her side. The feast had ended, and the students were beginning to mingle, their voices filling the Great Hall with laughter and excitement.
As Bella conversed with some of her fellow Slytherins, she couldn't help but notice a group of students eyeing Luna with curiosity. She observed with amusement as one particularly bold second-year Slytherin reached out a hand to pet the panther.
Luna's golden eyes glinted mischievously as she turned her head to regard the Slytherin, her lips curling into a silent snarl. Before the student could make contact, Luna let out a low growl, her warning clear.
The second-year Slytherin froze, his hand suspended in mid-air, a look of fear crossing his face. Bella couldn't help but chuckle at the sight, amused by Luna's protective nature.
"I suggest you listen to her," Bella said, her voice laced with amusement as she watched the Slytherin retreat.
The student scurried away, leaving Bella and Luna to continue their conversation with their Slytherin housemates. As they spoke, Bella couldn't help but notice the glances and whispers from the other students nearby.
Draco Malfoy and his friends, Theodore Nott, Blaise Zabini, and Pansy Parkinson, approached Bella's group, their expressions a mix of curiosity and amusement.
"Looks like we have a new addition to our little family," Draco remarked, his silver eyes flicking between Bella and Luna.
Bella arched an eyebrow, her lips curving into a smirk. "And what makes you think I want to be a part of your little family?"
Draco chuckled, unfazed by Bella's response. "Oh, come now, Swan. We Slytherins have to stick together, don't we?"
Bella's smirk widened, impressed by Draco's confidence. "Perhaps. But I have my own agenda, Malfoy. I suggest you keep that in mind."
Draco's grin faltered slightly, a hint of uncertainty flickering in his eyes before he masked it with a confident smirk. "I look forward to seeing what you have to offer, Swan."
With that, Draco and his friends departed, leaving Bella and Luna to continue their conversation with their Slytherin housemates. As the evening wore on, Bella couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement at the prospect of what lay ahead. Hogwarts was a place of endless possibilities, and she was ready to embrace whatever challenges came her way, with Luna by her side and her newfound allies in Slytherin.
As the night progressed, the sound of Dumbledore's voice echoed through the Great Hall, dismissing the students to their respective houses. Bella rose from the Slytherin table, Luna following close behind as they made their way towards the dungeons. The journey to Slytherin common room was filled with anticipation, and Bella couldn't wait to begin her new chapter at Hogwarts.
