"Okay, the only other nearby gyms on main markers are in Mahogany Town and Blackthorn City." Molly said, looking at a list of gym locations.
"Both of those are back past Ecruteak City, there has to be at least one that's closer to here, maybe we can see how the gym leader's Pokemon is doing, maybe even help them get better." Ash said.
"I'm sorry but I couldn't help but overhear that you were thinking of checking on the gym leader and her Pokemon." The Nurse Joy said.
"I mean it couldn't hurt to see how they're doing, why do you ask?" Casey asked curiously.
"I have some medicine to try and help them, if you wouldn't mind helping out, and you're going to see them, could you bring the medicine to them?" Nurse Joy asked.
"We'd be happy to help, is the gym leader at home or the gym?" Ash asked.
"Top of the lighthouse." The Nurse Joy said.
"Of course they are, let me guess, no elevator?" Molly asked.
"Been out of service for a few years, most people haven't complained, enjoying the exercise and view going all the way up." The Nurse Joy said.
"Are neither of you wondering why they're at the top of a light house and not, I don't know here at the Pokemon Center?" Casey pointed out.
"It's her Pokemon, it's used as the beacon for the lighthouse, though because of them being sick, the port has been dangerous lately." Nurse Joy admitted. "I do hope this medicine will help."
"Of course, let's get going." Ash said, grabbing his bag, before carefully grabbing the medicine. "We have a lighthouse to climb."
As the group reached the lighthouse, sparks of electricity were seen flying from the top of the lighthouse, Pikachu's cheeks reacting from the stray sparks.
"That's odd, I wonder what kind of Pokemon is all the way up there." Ash said, before looking back at Pikachu. "How are you feeling buddy?"
"Pi!" Pikachu said in assurance.
"Alright, let's get going." Casey said, walking into the lighthouse.
A few floors along
"Is that a battle going on?" Ash wondered, hearing a fight the floor above them.
"Who would be having a battle, when there's a sick Pokemon right above them?" Molly wondered as the group climbed the stairs to see what was going on.
"I'm telling you, I'll show her my love is more than enough to heal her Pokemon!" A man cried out. "And I'll beat you to prove it! Noctowl use Confusion!"
"That's not how love works! Her Pokemon needs proper attention!" Another man cried out in anger. "Geodude use Rock Throw!"
"Whoa, what are those Pokemon?" Casey asked, pulling out her Pokedex as Molly did the same.
'Noctowl, the Owl Pokemon, a Normal and Flying type. When it needs to think, it rotates its head 180 degrees to sharpen its intellectual power.' Molly's Pokedex explained.
'Geodude, the Rock Pokemon, a Rock and Ground type. Proud of their sturdy bodies, they bash against each other in a contest to prove whose is harder.' Casey's Pokedex said.
"No way." Ash said in surprise.
"I mean the Pokédex's always have that kind of information." Casey pointed out.
Ash watched as Noctowl was easily knocked back by the rock type attack, causing the sailor that was his trainer to get angry.
"No matter, I'll show you the truth power of my love. Poliwhirl come on out!" The sailor said.
"Hey two one isn't fair, mind if I step in Brock." Ash said, walking up with Pikachu.
"Small world Ash." Brock chuckled.
"Not nearly small enough! Pikachu use Thunder Punch!" Ash called out.
"Geodude use Tackle!" Brock called out, their two Pokemon striking the sailor's Pokemon knocking them out rather quickly.
"I'll be back to prove my love Jasmine! I swear it!" The man exclaimed, before rushing past Molly and Casey.
"Umm Ash, mind introducing us?" Molly asked, seeing he clearly knew the other trainer.
"Right, Brock these are my new friends Molly Hale and Casey Phinney." Ash said, pointing to the girls. "Casey and Molly, this is Brock the Pewter City gym leader, we traveled together back in Kanto."
"It's nice to meet the both of you." Brock said, shaking their hands. "So I'm guessing you're here hoping to take on the gym leader?"
"Deliver medicine to her Pokemon from the Pokemon Center, how about you? I thought you were happy with Professor Ivy." Ash asked.
"No we're still good, but I'm doing some work of my own now that she and her girls are able to keep the house clean for more than a day, and when I heard about Jasmine's sick Pokemon I thought I could try and help." Brock said.
On the top floor
"Jasmine, are you up here, we brought some medicine from the Pokemon Center." Ash said, walking over.
"Oh, thank you." A girl with long brown hair said, bringing it over to a tall yellow Pokemon.
"Who's that Pokemon?" Molly asked, pulling out her Pokedex.
'Ampharos the Light Pokemon. An electric type and the fully evolved form of Mareep. The bright light on its tail can be seen far away. It has been treasured since ancient times as a beacon.'
"That's what Flaaffy will become." Molly said in surprise.
"Her name is Amphy, she usually keeps the lighthouse illuminated, but ever since she got sick, it hasn't been good." The girl said. "I'm Jasmine by the way."
"I'm Ash, and this is Brock, Molly and Casey." Ash said.
"Your Ampharos, it's been sick for a while, hasn't it." Brock said, checking Amphy carefully.
"Wow, Amphy usually never is that welcoming to strangers even now that she's sick." Jasmine admitted.
"Brock's really good like that." Ash admitted.
"Is there anywhere near here with stronger medicine?" Brock asked.
"There is, a pharmacy in Cianwood City, but I can't leave Amphy alone right now." Jasmine admitted.
"And the port needs the lighthouse sooner rather than later." Molly realized. "Flaaffy come out!"
"Molly, what are you thinking?" Ash asked.
"That we can help while we get the medicine. Flaaffy use Flash too!" Molly commanded.
Flaaffy stuck her own tail in the center glass across from Ampharos's illuminating the lighthouse.
"Will that help?" Molly asked.
"Yes, it will take some strain off of Amphy for the time being." Jasmine said, seeing the light pierce through the fog.
"Okay, Flaaffy I need you to stay here and help MIss Jasmine keep the lightouse lit, we'll be back soon though, okay?" Molly asked.
"Molly, are you sure? What you're asking is a lot." Ash said.
"You did the same with Bulbasaur and Squirtle, you let them do work more important than just traveling around, and if we can add some light while we get the medicine, why shouldn't we?" Molly asked.
"Do you plan on staying here with Flaaffy?" Casey asked.
"No, Miss Jasmine, here is Flaaffy's Pokeball, promise you'll make sure she's safe while we get the medicine for Amphy." Molly asked.
"Of course, I'll be happy to make sure of it." Jasmine said. "Here give this note to the pharmacy in Cianwood, they should know what to get her."
'Okay, we'll send it as soon as we can." Molly assured.
"Mind if I tag along, see this through to the end?" Brock asked.
"You've always got my vote." Ash responded.
"It could be fun hearing about how much Ash has changed." Casey said with a smirk.
"I guess we're all in agreement then." Molly said. "Let's get going to Cianwood City!"

Authors Note
No I did not plan Brock's return for the day before Pokemon Day, it just kind of happened that way. He'll be sticking around for a bit as a way for me to pay proper home age to the OG trio in this story as this was their last region altogether until Aim to Be a Pokemon Master. And yes, that does mean a Misty appearance is also on the horizon.
